TTC First Time - Anyone else?

My husband and I are TTC! I have been off the pill for a month now and have started taking folic acid and calcium with vit D to ensure if anything does happen I'm as healthy as possible. Limiting caffeine and alcohol but not cutting it out completely as you never know how long it will take! All my friends have just fallen pregnant really easily, but I have a feeling this will not be the case for me. I can't remember when my last period was either which is annoying as will need to wait for the next one before I can chart etc. Hmm Is anyone else out there TTC now? We could all share our stories and encourage each other! Smile

Hi Katy, I keep hoping that it will be good news, but I don't have any symptoms of pregnancy other than no sign of period, but think it's just my body trying to get back to normal & cycle messed up! I know when AF arrives a part of me will feel disappointed, but on the plus side at least the pain will go away when it does arrive. Smile

Has anyone tried the ovulation strips? I've seen them online but not sure how well they work? Having different period cycles does not help when TTC & getting fertility date(s) correct, so was thinking of trying the ovulation strips... Or whether they are a waste of money & if I'm just obsessing!?

Katybear123 · 04/07/2014 22:11

Hi rockchic your symptoms sound v similar to mine and it turned out to be my ovaries waking up as my gp put it. I had pain for 8 days before af arrived, soon as it did pain went away :-)

Hi Red,
I am 30 & was on birth control for 15 years. I took my last pill on Tues 29th April & had my usual withdrawal period from pill - Sat 3rd (lasting 4 days), then had my first normal period just over 4 weeks - Tues 3rd June (lasting 5 days)
I've been experiencing on & off pains in my left pelvic area & my period was due on Tues 1st July but still not arrived. I done a pregnancy test (wishful thinking) but it was negative. I've booked a docs appointment - earliest I could get is next Fri 11th, but am worried I have underlying problems too. All my close friends have children & my sister in law just given birth to her 2nd. I keep hoping my turn will come soon! Smile & becoming a little obsessed, looking at baby clothes, prams, toys etc. but after reading others comments on here made me realise I'm not the only one! It's just hard trying to keep quiet to friends/family, but don't want them keep asking "are you preg yet!?"
hope you all have your turn soon!
Baby dust to all xx

Nothing yet katy. Still no signs of it coming either which is frustrating! I went back to the GP this afternoon; didn't want to leave it too long based on how long my last few cycles have been. She's sending me for a scan to double check for PCOS. It's hard work trying predict when I'm ovulating when I don't actually have a clue how long my cycle will be.

Is it just me or are there loads of couples having babies at the moment. Everywhere I look I see someone who is pg or someone has just announced their pg. A friend of ours has just announced that she's pg and although I'm thrilled for her I can't help but wonder when it will be my turn Envy Sad

Freedom40 · 04/07/2014 14:37

i everyone decided today to join in the forum after getting tired of looking at baby clothes and daydreaming of what is yet to happen. does anyone feel like if they say it out loud "i'm trying to get pregnant" it won't happen? can't bring myself to say it cause cannot handle the "any news yet" from friends and family. was bad enough when i was unmarried at 30 something and the pity looks you get. I guess i don't want to trade the old and unmarried look (married now) for the almost 40 and no baby look.

Freedom40 · 04/07/2014 13:46

DurhamRed i'm so with you here me and hubbie have age against us as well as we start ttc in 10 days. i'm going out of my mind waiting patience is not my strong point. I cannot stop thinking about being a family, little baby clothes, decorating the nurseryetc. i'm so getting ahead of myself while my Hubbie tries to manage my expectations. good luck.

Katybear123 · 03/07/2014 20:33

Hey red any sign of af? I finally think mine has arrived at day 52. I as think as day 52 had blood in cm, but today I think it's proper af though v light.
Welcome welcome so excited now, Like you so excited now I have been on pill since I was 15 and am also 32 so if this is af I am going to celebrate as I wasn't at all sure how long it was going to take to get af back. I have all crossed this is it as we are headed on 2 wk hol, so it is maybe just maybe I will ovulate whilst on hols and then with a huge amount of luck maybe I could get a bfp. Godiva really really hope so

SoExcitedNow · 02/07/2014 15:56

I'm joining you. Now we are 32, married and settled, DH and I are ttc dc1. I took my last pill (Gederel 30/150) on the 10th June, so here goes cycle 1! I'm expecting AF/BFP on the 8th July. My cycles used be very regular & 28 days but I've been on one pill or another since I was 17 and don't really know what to expect yet!

Red19512 · 02/07/2014 10:27

Hi Katybear, no I didn't. No indications of AF or being pg before I went to the GP. Not sure if I should go back or whether I should wait a bit Longer for AF. I don't want to wait too long in case there is some underlying cause.

Katybear123 · 01/07/2014 23:20

Hi red I understand this one, did you get cramps at all like I described without af?

Red19512 · 01/07/2014 17:26

My husband and I are TTC for the first time. I've been off the pill for about a year now but we've only been 'actively' trying for the last few months or so. My AF has been really odd since coming off the pill 28,28,40,57,79. GP sent me for a blood test on my last cycle which came back 'normal'.

Have done HPT the past couple cycles which came back negative each time. Currently on day 42 and really don't want to get my hopes up based on the past few months Sad

Katybear123 · 30/06/2014 20:19

Hey Gemerama still no af day 50 now. Went to see gp today as have been having what I think are af symptoms like period cramps and drawing feeling but no af which was making me worry. Gp said all was k, that it was normal and that it's likely just my ovaries waking up again, so in a way was a good sign. He said they won't test for ovulation until I don't have a period for at least 6 months....... Have to hope for a bfp or af before that. So frustrated that I didn't know this a while ago would have started trying earlier grrrr :-(. Good luck on you pr mini break Gemerama have all crossed for you

Ah pleased for you flutter still no af here. This is ssssoooo frustrating! Am I the inky one with no af since stopping the pill or other birth control? :-(

Futter · 28/06/2014 10:05

Good morning AF ... At least I can start monitoring properly now! I can see some good news on here congrats to those with a positive! X

SybilRamkin · 27/06/2014 23:01

Vikki that's a definite positive, congratulations!

R0ckCh1c · 27/06/2014 20:52

Thanks Gemerama & Katybear. I think I'm going to see if the pain continues to come on/off for the next week, if AF does not come, I'll do preg test incase implantation (fingers crossed it's that - but think it's highly unlikely so soon after coming off pill from being on it so 15yrs!), if negative I'll book an appointment with docs incase it's cyst causing pain.

Good luck to all TTC Smile

Katybear123 · 27/06/2014 18:36

Hi rock hick, I to am 1st time off pill had first bleed as soon as finished pill now 46 days and still no af signs! I have poas last fri and fri before and wasn't preg. Not done one since as figured its unlikely. I to am having those sort of pains I was on loestrin and figure it's my body getting back to normal after being on the pill for a while. I've recently come off the pill and have had my first 'normal' period since coming off it. AF is due mid next week, but the last 2 days I've had sharp pain on and off where my left ovary would be. I usually only get pain the first day before AF arrives. Has anyone experienced the same thing? Do you think I should see the doctor? Could it be a cyst? Or am I just experiencing early period symptoms?

Vikki1409 · 27/06/2014 13:19

Meant to say, though - if you're not detecting ovulation then you might want to go to your GP to get a blood test which can tell if you've ovulated or not. You can get an injection to stimulate ovulation to re-start it after coming off the Pill if necessary (although apparently it does increase the risk of twins!).
