TTC First Time - Anyone else?

My husband and I are TTC! I have been off the pill for a month now and have started taking folic acid and calcium with vit D to ensure if anything does happen I'm as healthy as possible. Limiting caffeine and alcohol but not cutting it out completely as you never know how long it will take! All my friends have just fallen pregnant really easily, but I have a feeling this will not be the case for me. I can't remember when my last period was either which is annoying as will need to wait for the next one before I can chart etc. Hmm Is anyone else out there TTC now? We could all share our stories and encourage each other! Smile

Thanks folks :) I think I'll wait a few days and try one in the morning. I'm having a dull ache every evening as if AF is about to come but she never does! Also I work in a busy pub/restaurant and have been coming home in a lot more physical pain than normal, and feeling exhausted but those are the only two things (other than lack of AF) that I could really put down as symptoms.

Freedom maybe you're right and I should wait, I feel he is being very controlling though. I've read loads of people who have had to wait a good few weeks after their AF was due to get a positive result, but then also heaps of people who end up having irregular cycles that they hadn't had in the past so I'm really frustrated and just want to know!

Normally they suggest testing again either 48 hours later (the amount of time hcg hormone doubles) or again in a week if AF hasn't shown up. Test again whenever you think is best for you :-)

Freedom40 · 21/07/2014 17:45

hello everyone.

we started this month and no AF yet but i still feel too early to test. no way I could get knocked up that quick. i think DH is more excited than me. still it would be nice.

Kitten good luck. I'd wait for your DH because if you get a positive and he's not there he'll be gutted. not a good way to start things off. I think he's got your best interest at heart and would like to be there to support you no matter what the outcome so give him that chance.

Von Black congrats.

I haven't been stressed, not sure about ovulation as we hadn't been tracking anything, just having fun.

Could it be because I tested late at night? Or that there wasn't enough hormone to show up?

Or should I just wait another week or something?

DurhamRed · 21/07/2014 11:10

I'm so sorry Kitten, TTC is such an emotional rollercoaster!

I do understand how you feel as last month I was 8 days late. Couldn't understand why as I always had 28 day cycle, I was so frustrated as all I was getting was BFN and no AF. I decided to go to docs for blood tests check everything was OK.

There may be many reasons why you are late this month, maybe you ovulated later than expected? Stress (I blame work for mine)?

Keep positive, I know it is hard to see it right now, but you will get your BFP!!

Sending you lots of bd and positive thoughts your way :-)

kittenmamma · 21/07/2014 01:04

Just keep trying different things each month. Maybe it will affect it maybe it won't.
I took a HPT at 00:30, BFN.
AF is a week late now :/ I'm confused. Trying not to show that I'm gutted because we weren't trying. But feeling rather down.
I'm also in that really annoying 'it could be because I did it at night, it could be a false negative, the test could have been faulty' stage. And DH won't let me test again, so I'm thinking of sneaking out with a friend and doing one tomorrow morning or going and buying some tomorrow and doing one the next morning. Ah I'm just so confused I could cry.

Still nothing, we have decided we will test on Monday if AF hasn't arrived by then, as we are both working tonight and tomorrow. I'm so nervous!

MrsVonBlack13 · 19/07/2014 10:03

Thanks you all so much :) and fx for BFP's for you all! Xxxx

idlefolly · 19/07/2014 08:46

Fingers and toes crossed for you kitten! Smile

kittenmamma · 18/07/2014 19:39

Kay folks, so we've not been trying this month but still been having unprotected sex every 5/6 days. Period due last Monday if going on a 28 day cycle but it was 30 last month (my first real period after the pill) so I put it back to Wednesday. Still nothing...dare I hope? Or have I just jinxed myself by writing this?

Glados2point0 · 18/07/2014 11:06

TTC First Time - Anyone else?
Glados2point0 · 17/07/2014 19:30

Hi everyone,

I just had my coil removed yesterday, so now I'm also awaiting AF to find out what is going on in there! I had the coil for 4.5 years, and before that I was on the pill for 12, so its a long time since my body has been running to its own schedule. I expected more discomfort from the removal, but aside from a short patch of cramps this morning I've been fine - eating like a horse though, which I'm hoping I can blame on this somehow!

I'm 33 (34 at the end of this month) and hubby is 32, and he's almost as excited as me. I just hope things happen quickly!

Hello ladies, hope you don't mind me joining in. I'm 1DPO and eagerly waiting to test. I've got a little count down app with the date in so that I don't have to keep obsessing.

This will be our first baby but like everyone you can't help but wonder if it will ever happen. But I'm keeping positive and I think the less you think about it the quicker the time goes :)

idlefolly · 16/07/2014 15:53

Hi ladies!
I'm new here, my DH and I got married in May and I had my nexplanon implant removed on Tuesday 08 July (had it in for 2 yrs, implanon for 3 yrs before that and mycrogynon pill for 10 yrs before that - sheesh!). I'm 31 and my OH is 33 on Sat. We are about to start TTC but I really want to have one AF first, to kind of clear things out and let my body return to it's natural state for the first time in years - I have never wanted to get my AF so much!!! I know it may take a good few wks for AF to arrive but getting v impatient already! Has anyone had any experience of TTC after implant? We originally decided to hold off on TTC until Sept as we have a wedding to attend and a family hol (usually a v boozy affair!) but since reading MN I realise it may take a lot longer than I thought so I'm keen to get going!! Sorry fit such a long post. It's hard not to become a little obsessed isn't it! Also I want AF so I can start tracking on an ovulation app. I have absolutely no idea what my AF will be like!

DurhamRed · 16/07/2014 15:47

Hi Phoenix

Yes, you're right, you do have a 36 hour window from you LH surge to conceive.

Sorry to hear AF has arrived, masses of positive thoughts to you!

Phoenix860 · 16/07/2014 13:55

AF arrived today so we are now on Cycle 6 TTC#1 can I just check I am right in that when you get a positive OPK you have roughly a 36 hour window to conceive? We are DTD every other day during the week that I am expected to Ovulate. Does that sound about right?!
Sending positive thoughts to everyone TTC xx

DurhamRed · 15/07/2014 15:22

Gem - definitely don't want to find out the sex, want it to be a surprise :-)

StrawberryCheese · 15/07/2014 14:35

Hello everyone. DH and I have decided now is the time Smile I took my last pill on Saturday and I'm going to start taking folic acid. Other than that we are just going to see what happens, don't want to get too obsessed just yet as I have a tendency to do that with things Grin Although I do need to get more clued up on cycles and the best time to DTD. Been on the pill for 11 years so I need to start understanding my body a bit more.

Hi Gem

Things are going OK so far, though am suffering from serious morning sickness (been signed off for 2 weeks to rest) and I'm currently having the feeling of jelly legs. Other than that all is good :-)

Have midwife appointment on 14th August and my dating scan is on the 4th Sept. My current EDD is 19th March...excited but very scared too!
