TTC First Time - Anyone else?

My husband and I are TTC! I have been off the pill for a month now and have started taking folic acid and calcium with vit D to ensure if anything does happen I'm as healthy as possible. Limiting caffeine and alcohol but not cutting it out completely as you never know how long it will take! All my friends have just fallen pregnant really easily, but I have a feeling this will not be the case for me. I can't remember when my last period was either which is annoying as will need to wait for the next one before I can chart etc. Hmm Is anyone else out there TTC now? We could all share our stories and encourage each other! Smile

Hey lady welcome to the thread. I have all crossed for u to. I am praying for a bfp on 30 th July. That of course assumes a 28 day cycle and I have no idea that I have that as this is month 2 off the pill and last cycle 51 days. Still I think it could be as I reckon I ovulated day 13 but we will see I guess :-)

Ladyboluna · 24/07/2014 20:41

Gem - sorry that the results have made you feel so down. Remember its not the be all and end all and also remember they get it wrong sometimes!

Also saying hi to everyone, I'm TTC for my first and I'm 23. Always wanted kids, perhaps I'm younger than most but I own my own house, have a good job paying above minimum wage and been with my partner for 4.5 years. We've been trying for almost 12 months but nothing yet. Fx for everyone.

Hi ladies,
Gemerama, so sorry to hear about your DH's test results! Glad you are feeling more positive today though. I have read about the three month thing and makes complete sense so there is hope. It is the same with our eggs! It is good to know that there is the option of fertility treatment if you do need it Smile

Arrrgh, another negative test, another day with no period!!!

DurhamRed · 23/07/2014 22:47

I used the one step ovulation tests that you can get on Amazon... They did the trick for me. You can get something like 25 tests for around a fiver. Just poas same time every day during your fertile week and the day the LH surge is highlighted you have a 36 hour window before you ovulate. Once the LH has surge has shown you don't have to use any more tests, so you can save the others for the following month if need be.

I used preseed gel too, which you can also get on Amazon.

I can only tell you what i used to help me, and can only advise to go with what you feel comfortable and happy doing. Different things work for different people :-)

Katybear123 · 23/07/2014 21:55

Thanks Durham that is top top advice. It's the waitin that's so horrid. But as u say just have to pick myself up and keep going. I think I read you use clear blue fertility test is that right and did u use the new advanced monitor? We are thinking it don't catch this cycle that we we will have 1 more go then moved to fertility monitor

DurhamRed · 23/07/2014 19:23

Thanks Katy

To answer your question earlier, I caught on my 3rd cycle of TTC. I wasn't on the pill (came off it years ago) but still shocked we caught so quickly. We thought it would take much longer as we are both 40.

You're not silly for feeling desperate to get pregnant, there are many many women who feel the same. Me included, I cried when I got a bfn after our first go.

It will happen for you, even if it doesn't happen this month, (not saying it won't!) just pick yourself up and keep trying and keep thinking positive! :-)

Katybear123 · 23/07/2014 19:00

Durham rd, I have all crossed for u to but I have a good feeling for u. I think u will be just fine :-)

Katybear123 · 23/07/2014 18:59

Hi Gemerama wow I so sorry I really have you in my thoughts and am sending u a bug virtual hug

DurhamRed · 23/07/2014 17:33

I'll be 6 weeks tomorrow...still early days. I'm trying to relax and just enjoy this time but there's always that worry in the back of your mind.

It doesn't help that I'm signed off sick to rest as I'm not occupied enough to keep my mind off it. However, I'm off to France for week tomorrow so that should take my mind off the worries for a while :-)

Apologies Gem, I misread it as the dr giving a reason, my fault. However, I still stand by what i said, it is definitely a possible reason for the low count (though I recognise I'm no Dr), so there is a glimmer of hope! The body will do crazy things when we're poorly. The wellman vits or any conception support vits will hopefully help. Fingers crossed for you!!

Oh Gem, I'm so sorry to hear the results were not in your favour.

Fingers crossed when your OH gets tested in a few months time you'll get the results you hope for. It is possible for illness to have an impact on the body and affect test results (I've worked in health for a long time and the body does crazy things!). I'm sure the Dr isn't giving you false hope but giving you one possible reason for the outcome.

Keep positive Gem (easier said than done I know).Don't give up yet! I'm sending you all my positive thoughts.

Hi Durham

Thanks for the fingers crossed and congrats to you. How long did it take you to fall do u mind me asking? And were you on the pill before?I am so desperate to fall, I know that's a silly way to be but I am. I certainly have the increased boobs size though this could defo be af, not heat difference that I can feel. I also have a very funny throat, but I think it might be a cold. If this month is a 28 day cycle I can test a week today. Not sure I will be able to wait any long :-)

DurhamRed · 23/07/2014 08:44

Hi Katy

I had a few symptoms before my BFP, 1) strange ache in throat on and off like I was coming down with something, 2) sore boobs, not unusual for me before AF, however what was different was that they were hot to the touch (still are now). Place one hand on tummy to note the difference in temp. 3) morning sickness with strange light headedness/spaced out feeling. The sickness though started 2 days after my BFP,though still 3days before AF was due.

In a strange kind of way I felt different, I can't say that I felt pregnant as I had no idea what that felt like, but I did feel different somehow...its strange.

I recognise though that everyone is different. My sister had no symptoms at all with her 3rd pregnancy, only knew due to missed AF.

I have my fingers crossed for you...good luck! :-)

kittenmamma · 22/07/2014 23:43

Welcome back Katybear! Glad AF arrived for you, finally! Now you'll have a better idea where you're at. Can't help you with the symptom hunting I'm afraid, I'm in the same boat. AF is over a week late, did 1 neg test a few days ago, trying again in the morning. Only symptoms i could say I have are a dull 'pre-period' ache most nights which obviously never comes to anything, and work has been making me sore in the legs and feet like it hasn't done since I started 2 years ago! Frustrated as I'm sure you can sympathise with, though I'm on my second cycle after stopping pill, so ive had one natural period, 30 days after withdrawl which is about right compared to what I used to be, never was late, always between 26 and 30 days.

Katybear123 · 22/07/2014 22:01

Hey all sorry was missing for a while great to see some bfp. V jealous :-(. My af final arrived on first cycle following the pill on day 52! V light af but lasted 5 days so defo af. Have been at it like rabbits this month as have been away doing it at least every other day sometime more than that. Therefore praying for bfp. Quick q, any of you recently with bfp's did you have any symptoms before bfp? I am symptom hunting which I know is silly but can't help it. Boobs are big, and maybe have extra saliva but not sure as also might b as have sore throat ?

Glados2point0 · 21/07/2014 19:53

Fingers crossed for you kitten, and freedom too, you never know, it could be that quick!

I've in the middle of my first post-coil visit from AF, so that puts me at CD3 now. Mid-next week is my birthday and I keep thinking what a lovely birthday present it would be as thats about the usual time to expect ovulation (given I have no clue about my cycles) but its probably wishful thinking. The following week I'll be knackered as I'm on a training course and swapping my 10 min drive or 30 min cycle commute to 2 hours or so each way on a busy train, so hopefully its not then as its going to be hard keeping up the energy!
