TTC First Time - Anyone else?

My husband and I are TTC! I have been off the pill for a month now and have started taking folic acid and calcium with vit D to ensure if anything does happen I'm as healthy as possible. Limiting caffeine and alcohol but not cutting it out completely as you never know how long it will take! All my friends have just fallen pregnant really easily, but I have a feeling this will not be the case for me. I can't remember when my last period was either which is annoying as will need to wait for the next one before I can chart etc. Hmm Is anyone else out there TTC now? We could all share our stories and encourage each other! Smile

Oh boo Lancashire, I, sorry to hear that. As you say just keep dtd. That what we are doing. Every other day regardless of timing figure that way we should catch ovulation, I hope. X

LancashireTea · 18/05/2014 12:09

Little update from me. Poas on Thursday and it was a BFN, which wasn't a surprise. However kept dtd and trying to relax. Until this morning when I think Af may have arrived over a week early. Which is a little bit rubbish. She is only light so far, but we shall see if she turns into hee usual red flood of doom.

Katybear123 · 17/05/2014 09:06

Oh no, boo. This is a momentous day for me first day not taking the pill for 17yrs! I have no idea if the length of time you have been on the pill impacts how long it takes to come out of your system but I guess I will find out!

DurhamRed · 16/05/2014 19:41

Well girls, looks like DTD is out for me this month (or at least the next week or so) as OH has hurt his back. Totally gutted Sad

I think this might be the approach we are going to follow. I am going to temp just to see if I ovulate and we are going to dtd every other day to try to make sure we max our chances but I think I may have talked about it to much to hubby and now I'm giving him stage fright! So need to back off me thinks. Has anyone else done the same?

HippyStar · 15/05/2014 11:40

Welcome Lancashire! I am on cycle 2 of ttc. I'm trying to stay relaxes about it and not get too hung up on doing things like OPK / BBT etc. and have no wee sticks in the house. I'm monitoring my dates and making a conscious effort to DTD every other day during "prime time" Wink but other than that I'm trying to carry on as normal and just enjoy this as an exciting time where DH and I have a little secret task to complete Grin I will only go and buy some wee sticks when I am more than a week late, otherwise I would be obsessively POAS-ing every day a week before and after AF! I just think on average it takes around a year so there's no sweat yet... Anyone else trying the laid back approach? x

Eww I hope so for you. Keep your fingers crossed for me that I ovulate this month :-))

LancashireTea · 14/05/2014 22:26

Ooh good luck Durham! And you too Katybear. Hopefully I've not chuffed up my dates too much... watch this space I guess. I just keep thinking, there must be reason that I'm off my tea!

Katybear123 · 14/05/2014 22:06

Ah I think I will be the same and welcome Lancashire. I'm on cycle 1 ttc concieve this is day 3 so hopefully we can start on fri/ sat when af shoves off!
Sorry you got af Durham I have all crossed for you for this month. I'm praying for a first time out afraid!

DurhamRed · 14/05/2014 21:56

Ah the dreaded symptom spotting. That was me a few weeks ago, I convinced myself I had all the symptoms only to be disappointed when AF arrived. I'm going to make an effort not to symptom spot this time (bet I still do!).

LancashireTea · 14/05/2014 21:34

It does, especially when you think you have symptoms but aren't sure whether you're just hoping too much!

Either that or I'm just ill... ho hum!

DurhamRed · 14/05/2014 21:31

Welcome Lancashire, have my fingers crossed for you. The 2ww just seems to go on forever doesn't it?

LancashireTea · 14/05/2014 20:44

Hello,
Thought I'd stop lurking and actually contribute to this thread. This is the first time that OH and I have TTC (well to put it accurately, stopped trying not TTC!)..
Since having my coil out (sorry TMI already!!) in January my cycle has been a little all over the show and I've not worked out all my dates yet even with my tracker app.
Hopefully all will go well. I think I'm having my TWW right now, since AF last imposed herself on me on 24th April and my cycle has been around 32-5ish days.
Anyhoo..... so yeah. Eeek!

DurhamRed · 14/05/2014 20:04

A BFP would be great, but unfortunately had AF this month so TTC starts again at the weekend...fingers crossed for June!!

Wondering if the lack of alcohol tolerance is due to hormone changes (time of the month) or just my age! Smile

Katybear123 · 14/05/2014 18:50

Hi guys
Thanks for the tips. I can't wait to get started wish af would go. We are going to go for the every other day approach of dtd. I'm doing temping, I'm trying to see if I ovulate this month as not sure whether I will or not given that only just come off the pill. I'm praying I do.

Sounds to me girls like both of you could be expecting a bfp. I'm certain I'm not and I can tell you I am still have happy to enjoy a drink, only 2 glasses on sat and 2 on fri.

DurhamRed · 14/05/2014 16:26

Hi Gem, I've gone for the Clear Blue opk's this month. Will be starting them at the weekend, so will see how it goes Smile

I've pretty much given up alcohol as over the past few months every time I've had a drink its made me really sick. I've even started to go off coffee too, can only seem to drink half a cup before I feel queasy...which is annoying as I love coffee Sad

Hi Katy, I usually count the 1st day of my period when the flow starts, though others may do differently.

I've opted not to do my temp but from other comments on these forums it seems quite a common thing. I just use the Period Tracker app to estimate my fertile days, though this month I will be using OPKs as well.

Katybear123 · 12/05/2014 19:04

Hi all quick q for you all. Is day 1 of period the day you start spotting or the day the flow starts? I am filling in my diary, trying to figure out therefore my fertile days assumin I ovulate this month as I have just come off pill 2 days ago.
Thermometer arrived today so going to temp each day to :-). Does anymore else do this?

HippyStar · 12/05/2014 16:09

I find looking after my horse is a good distraction Grin certainly keeps me busy! Or lots of nice walks with DH and the dog. I'm just coming up to my fertile days so I will be exactly where you are this time next week xx

My boyfriend and I have just started trying for a baby! I've been off the pill around 2 months now. We have been having intercourse every other day and now I'm feeling really nauseaus and having pulling feelings in my lower abdomin. I don't want to get obsessed with it all tho! How is everyone finding it? Could lower abdominal pulls be a sign?
