TTC or pregnancy on prednisolone or similar part 13

Oh, and I'm aged 40

Hello all, I have been on the RMC thread for a while, and the lovely baking has pointed me in this direction as I am considering NK cell testing...

I have had 4 losses in 2 years, the last 3 within a year. I have 1 gorgeous DS, aged 3.5

1. MMC 12 wks, embryo measured 7.5
2. TFMR at 13 wks after 12 WK scan revealed many problems (9mm NT, fluid on abdomen and lungs, very fast heart rate) given 90% chance of death in utero - found to be chromosomally normal.
3. Anembryonic - discovered at 8+ wks - found to be T22
4. HB seen at around 7 wks, but slow, and gone by around 8 wks - found to be chromosomally normal.

All my St. Mary's tests have come back normal.

I wonder if I could pick your brains?

I know the chromosomally normal part and death after HB is suggestive of possible NK cell issues. But does anyone know if my second loss, with survival until 13 weeks (don't know how much longer it would have survived) and the issues mentioned, could have been NK cell related?

Also I know people tend to go to Coventry or London, and am I right in saying only Coventry does the uterine biopsy / scratch for NK cells? And that London clinics tend to prescribe more 'aggressive' medications? (Or am I simplifying things too much) Can I ask why people chose Coventry or London? I live in London but am not sure which clinic I would feel most comfortable with. The thought of any medication in pregnancy terrifies me, but I am reading success stories on here (congrats tum!) and presume given a choice you would all rather not be on meds either, but sometimes has to be done.

Do people only find out they have high NK cells due to RMC?

Thanks, took my first pred today, not noticed anyhting odd yet so assume it may take a few days to buold up in my system before showing any side effects.

Had a bit of an ache today in my womb area so hoping that is ovulation - don't normally feel it but guess 2 eggs are coming out so thats why i am noticing it (I would love to have twins so keep crossing my fingers that both eggs are fertilised!!)

Done my first SO round - had my scan last week with 2 follicles - and dr s happy! Did the hcg trigger shot last night and start the ores tomorrow morning - exciting and scary at the same time!!

I know SO often takes 4-6 goes but really hoping its quicker!! Interested to see what side effects I get with the pred too!

Yes they tested but it didn't grow so couldn't get result, it happens apparently.

No I had it via my NHS hospital - quite pleased actually with the service and at least I saved some money by going private.

Surprised that they couldn't test as you had a hb initially so there was definitely a foetus there. I imagine in the case of blighted ovum it would be different. It's easier said than done but please don't worry yourself over this and focus on what will come up next. Are you starting on ivf soon?

Triple so sorry for your mc but I hope you're reassured that there was a reason and it wasn't the treatment. Did you have erpc with mr s? I do wish I had now as the hospital couldn't get a result so always wondering..

Just wanted to update that the mc I had on Dr S treatment turned out to be trisomy 22. So basically it wasn't the treatment that failed. Will try to speak to dr s to figure out next steps ....

Thanks very much all for your kind words I'm glad this is of some motivation to those on this same or similar journeys. I remember when I joined this thread and saw that some people had had babies owing to prednisolone and other treatments for immune issues etc and I remember thinking god that seems like an impossible dream to get to have baby of my own. But yeah I'm proof along with so many others on this thread that there is hope. And with the knowledge and experiences of all of the outstanding women on this thread this information can help others hopefully in getting you to where you wanna be.. anyway not sure of I'm making sense but thanks again for your lovely comments. X

it's so good to hear postivie news on this thrread, it gives us all hope.

After my AF no show last month, it turned up as normal this month so have been taking my letrozole for my SO, got my scan with DR S tomorrow so will be interesting to see what he says. Hopefully I'll be stating the pred next week too, so there will be 3 of us on it for the first time!

Hello all! Well finally after being on this journey for some time our little rainbow baby has arrived. Mia was born by c section on the 4th and is gorgeous. She is a little Jaundice but the midwife says it's nowt to worry about.
My emotions are all over the place, we never thought we would get here but here she lies next to me sound asleep as I type this post.

Hi Hopender - again, not sure if that was tested. I was only told NK and thyroid. I've more blood tests in a week which will determine if I get anything additional to the complex programme. Which one are you on? I'm feeling really fragile after the effect Humira had- worrying more now how I will cope with the rest .. Wish I could afford to stop working - would make it all a bit easier to cope! Anyway I'm hoping I can take confidence from people on this forum who are inspiring.

Thanks Rosa! I really appreciate it. It is good to find someone who is starting pred at the same time. We can compare notes. I am 38 too so it seems we are in a similar situation Did Dr S tell you what your AMH is? Mine is 14 and I'm not sure how worried I should be. He said it was just in the low range but not to worry. Hope you are feeling better after your allergic reaction. Will Dr S give you something in place of the humira? All the best, x

Hopender I didn't have high Gliadin antibodies - actually not sure I was tested for this. However I should be starting on pred for the first time in 2 weeks so let me know how you go! It's great you sound like there is something very specific to focus on too to help your chances too. All the best of luck x

Hi all! Well, I went to get my results from Dr Shehata today after getting a cancellation appointment.
Apparently I've tested positive for high Gliadin Antibodies. Dr Shehata said they should be below 10 and mine were at 97. Apparently levels as high as mine are linked with coeliac disease. He thinks this is likely to be the reason for my miscarriages. So as well as 25mg of prednislone from ovulation Dr Shehata would like me to start a strict gluten free diet. I feel really pleased to have a plan, if a little daunted. The coeliac disease thing is a little bit of a surprise as I have never had any symptoms but apparently this is fairly common. Anyway, feel more positive about trying again now which is something! I was just wondering if anyone had had a similar diagnosis? I start pred in about ten days. Nervous and excited!
