Hi all - Duggs, also be great to hear about the sperm drag route.
Suemays- what is the good sperm/ egg theory - does this mean you think overactive immune systems are irrelevant or just that even when calmed down you can be unlucky anyway?
Is anyone on hydroxychloroquine? I'm between my 1st and 2nd cycle of steroids but taking hydroxy any have really dry eyelids and elbows and wondered if anyone else suffered this and had tips?
Good luck to all about to have babies and those looking to conceive and keep theirs too Smile

sunnyday01 · 17/10/2014 12:57

trying i'm on day 5 of the pred and day 17 of my cycle. Not finding the pred too bad again, have extreme thirst again like last month but apart from that can't complain too much!

Tryingno1 · 17/10/2014 12:32

Sunnday-do u have fitness ap? The only way I can loose weight is to track every single thing I eat and see it and count calories. It's tedious and hard coz I do like my food! But it works for me (have put on 3 pounds with my recent 2 week Holiday and very annoyed! ). Also ww worked for me coz someone weighs me and I feel to emb to have to lost! So I find that helpful too...tbh with miscarriages etc focussing on weight loss is so hard. I've just brought my bmi to 25 and am now stuck and need to try get things kick started again as I presume when I take daily pred at a bfp I will put on lots!

Tryingno1 · 17/10/2014 08:36

Hi rb30. Yes trying for my first. Been trying for 18 months and had 3 miscarriages. Back on ttc and on cycle 3. Doing the whole prog plus acupuncture. My nk cells were normal but activity was high (just). That's the only issue found so far. Gosh sounds so hard having that tissue left and not being able to move on with things-it's very trying.tablers never work for me so I end up in a limbo of scans with tiny bits left being told it will come away and then needing a d and c. It really drags things out. If there's ever a next time straight to d and c for me. But I hope not.
Sorry about ur dh. Men deal with it very diff. My dh is actually a psychologist so quite in tune with his and my emotions. However sometimes he's a man! And it does upset me...have u got friends u can talk to?
Sunny day where in ur cycle are u?

rb30 · 16/10/2014 21:27

Smile that's nice about your dh. Dh wants it but he's very emotionless just by nature, so I'm really struggling to accept it from him at mo.

Sorry about the weight issue. Are you generally trying to eat better and exercise? Although I wasn't trying to lose weight, I was given for metformin which helped me shed pounds. Not that I encourage you to take that. Not sure if this is of any use to you, but short high intensity training is better than spending hours at the gym. Running at your fastest pace for 300 metres alternating with say 250m on the rowing machine will give you full body / cardio/resistance workout, with 3 sets each, that could be less than a 20minute workout. Otherwise I recommend jillian michaels 30day shred. I have seen loads of people lose inches by doing that. And it's healthy /low weight workout (20mins again). after last mmc I started training again doing hiiT (mixed with Shawn T insanity every so often) to get rid of mmc pregnancy weight very quick compared to previous times. Didn't keep it up. Will start training again start of next cycle.

A number of my friends struggled to get pregnant. They then went on some strict training regime for a few months and they all went on to have babies

Sunnyday good luck with this. Let me know how you get on.

sunnyday01 · 16/10/2014 21:05

The trigger shit dictates when you ov - last month it was day 14, this month day 13. My cycle was generally 31 days and I'm not sure exactly when I ovulated but guess around day 17. Not had any sude effects with letrozole but get extreme thirst on the pred!

Yes I'm on pregnacare with omega 3, vit d and asprin. Not hears about CoQ10 before.

Dh is very supportive he wants it as much as I do. I really need to get my weight down but struggling!

rb30 · 16/10/2014 20:41

Thanks sunnyday. Very interesting to know about the change in your cycle. What were you before? And when did you ov then compared to now? Have you had any side effects to the SO?

I'm on the same prog with dr S. I had to do humira shots which weren't nice. Realised doing them straight out the fridge was a bad idea because the cold liquid is so uncomfortable. For these Ovitrelle I'll make sure to leave them at room temp for a bit before injecting (or is that not advised)?

I agree with supplement approach. Are you just on omega 3, aspiring folic acid, multivitamin, and d3? I was taking coq10 before Dr S and he told me not to bother, but when I went to collect the letrozole on Monday Louise told me to carry on with the CoQ10. I've read in loads of sources that coq10 does help egg quality and sperm quality so hubby going on that too.

How have your partners been? Are they supportive and sympathetic of the stress of this? My dh doesn't seem to understand. Maybe my fault for expecting him to fully understand what An emotional roller coaster this is and he does make every appt with me, but whenever I just want to talk about it and cry (a side effect of the preds) he doesn't want to hear it. He'll just shut me down by saying relax don't worry about. That doesn't make me feel any better. Angry Sad

sunnyday01 · 16/10/2014 09:57

rb30 as has been said above the ovitrelle injection just needs to be kept in the fridge, i keep it on the middle shelf towards the front. The injection itself is ok too, i hate needles and injections so the thought of injecting myself made me feel quite ill (i'm trying not to think about the intralipid drip as the thought of the canula makes me feel very ill!), the needle is really fine and you hardly can feel it. I just googles ovitrelle videos and watched a couple on you tube so i had a rough idea of what i was doing. I have given myself two injections now and am actually quite proud of myself! I have found that SO has made my cycle shorter - last month it was 28 days exactly and also i like to know that i have ovulated - it provides me with reassurance.

I'm trying for my first, I am under Dr S and have high NK cells so on his pred/intraplipid programme once I get pregnant.

I am no medical expert but i do somethimes think we are looking for answers that different supplements can provide the answer for, we pump our bodies with whatever we can get our hands on. I have stopped taking all supplements except the ones Dr S has prescribed.

rb30 · 16/10/2014 09:28

Thanks mel for the info. Am seeing Dr S on day 15 of cycle as have a long cycle.

trying I've been using cbfm to work out whether I ov and I appear not to have this cycle. I've had 4 mc', last one (mmc) was taken out 24/4/14 Then needed a d&c a month later because of retained preg, then Dr s did a hysterscopy in August and more preg tissue. So this cycle was my first ttc month since mc. I had been monitoring my ovulation in previous months and was ov around day 19. I'm on 33 day cycle. Frustrating the month I start ttc I don't ov! Got fed up of Dtd so stopped by day 19 too when I should've ov...I'm ranting sorry. It really is hard isn't it. So fed up of it all. I actually preferred not trying.

I think the ov may have stopped because I started taking this supplement called pregnitude (American). It has myo-inositol in it. It's supposed to regulate periods and ov especially if you have pcos (I do). So combined with the metformin I've been on for a couple of months I think I may have just pumped to many chemicals in to my body along with all the other I14 or so vitamins and supplements I'm taking.

Are you trying for your first 1? How long have you been trying? Are you with Dr S and are you on his preds programme? Did you have NK tests done?

Arianrhod · 16/10/2014 09:12

Ovitrelle - easy as pie, IIRC it's a pen injection and really simple to do. Seriously don't worry about it :)

Mel3062 · 16/10/2014 05:28

Ovitrelle is kept in the fridge. You take your letrozole (I'm on gonal f days 2-7) then I have a scan about day 12 then they suggest when to inject ovitrelle following your scan report. You inject in your tummy then Dtd following it for a couple of days.
The sperm frag I can't recall cost I think it took a couple of weeks for results.

Tryingno1 · 15/10/2014 22:12

Hi rb30 I'm sorry your feeling low. It is hard. I'm worried I'm not ovulating either and don't want to go down the SO route-but like you said just have to preserve and keep going and use the others on here as our success stories to keep going. How do u know u didn't ovulate? And was this the first time? Oh have u had some struggles with getting preg up to now?
Im sorry I can't help with the injections etc but sure someone helpful will at some point
Look after urself, This is hard work at times

rb30 · 15/10/2014 21:00

Hi all. I'm so sorry I haven't fed back even after all you kind responses which gave me reassurance. The lymphnodes went down. Started steroids post ov but didn't appear to ovulate this cycle so starting super ovulation next cycle :-(...

Anyway I want to also say sorry I keep joining when I have an issue...I've been reading back to earlier threads on this and the super ov one...duggs I've been reading your story...my heart goes out to you and of course everyone else who has been on this journey...and for you to have now made it the end..all my blessings that you have healthy delivery. You are the success story that we all are looking out for. And of course sue and free too.

I'm so sorry if I have left anyone out. I have read back so many messages and I have gotten a little lost...I'm blaming it on the drugs...

I'm a little worried about the super ov. I have to take the letrozole and then inject with Ovitrelle...not sure what I'm supposed to do with it because I received the Ovitrelle injection prescription today on the post because Louise forgot to give it me at my appt on Monday (didn't see Shehata).

Struggling with the preds. My mood swings have been bad and have been terribly low. And omg I am a raging insomniac ...but I guess all this is normal.

It worked for you ladies though so I guess I have to persevere through right?

Interested in the DNA frag test. Where did you get it done? Cost? Time taken start to finish?

Anyway all the best to everyone, and again I'm really sorry I haven't been in touch, for being a chronic lurker, forgetting to thanks everyone who shared kind reassuring words..
Xxxx

Mel3062 · 15/10/2014 17:58

Good luck trying x

Mel3062 · 15/10/2014 17:58

Penys recommended he takes anti b again then retest- not sure hel go for that idea!

Tryingno1 · 15/10/2014 17:43

Thanks duggs! Very helpful.
I suppose it does sound like a long time but main thing is u for there in the end and ur going to have a little baby yay!
Im waiting patiently 4 more days before I do a hpt. Time going slow!

Mel3062 · 15/10/2014 06:27

We had antibiotics with penny back in feb 2013! He tested negative for mycoplasma and ureaplasma last oct when he had frag test done. I've emailed penny to ask her, maybe it's because he was negative x

Mel3062 · 15/10/2014 06:10

His dfi is 39.1 and hds 15.5, that was nearly a year ago and he's just been on proxeed ever since, it's making me wonder. We both went on antibiotics with Peny and I conceived twice last year x

duggs1976 · 14/10/2014 20:06

What was his level Mel?

Mel3062 · 14/10/2014 20:04

I do wonder why dr g didn't put oh on antibiotic again after sperm frag

Mel3062 · 14/10/2014 20:03

Well there's a mental image duggs!!;)

duggs1976 · 14/10/2014 17:37

Thanks sue.. Am doing so now whilst watching the walking dead on demand?? not sure they do go together?! As for DH all nhs sperm test results came back ok. The DNA fragmentation tests Dr gorgy recommends came back v high. 33 per cent frawntatipn. He had v strong anti biotics for a month. They aren't standard from what I believe. Then he was re tested 3 mths later and had dropped to 22 percent and then again to 15.1 %. I was told
There is little chance of a live birth with anything over 30 percent fragmentation. I have to say though it still took a year later. a chemical, a trisomy 16 and a failed IVF since then to conceive this baby. But I guess a year to successfully conceive is standard for us at 37 and 42 years old? Just on top of the history it seems so much longer. He had ureplasma a hidden urinary tract infection and I tested positive for hidden C so we both had the strong anti biotics summer of 2012. Hope that helps somewhat?

Tryingno1 · 14/10/2014 11:40

Congrats to u all! Keeps my goin with hope that one day maybe I'll be there too. Hope ur enjoying ur little one and the end of ur pregnancies too...
Duggs I wanted to ask-I know u went down the sperm
Frag route-did ur DH have any risk factors for high levels? And what treatment did he have once it was realised it was high?
Thanks!

suemays · 14/10/2014 10:14

clabbage it only seems like yesterday you gave birth! I don't think rmc will ever leave any of us. I notice women crying in antenatal/scanning departments all the time now and empathise with them but never noticed before my miscarriages. Even if this pregnancy works out it will still haunt me. I am thinking of offering support as a counsellor if it works out. When I lost the baby at 20 weeks I spoke to some ladies at ARC who had experienced the same thing and it helped me so much so I would like to do the same for someone else.

duggs you need to start tweaking your nipples as that brings on labour! I am so glad I reached viability of 24 weeks at the weekend, even allowed myself to look at some baby grows yesterday but still not brave enough to buy any!
I also agree with the good egg/sperm and luck theory.

duggs1976 · 13/10/2014 23:32

Wow... 9 mths clabbage !! Where has that gone. Yes, am with you on the theory- good sperm, good egg and some lucky timing Grin in the end. Due next Thursday but am sure he will be late. Glad you enjoying being a mummy x
