This is a positive thread for all those diagnosed with High or Very High NK Cells and looking to start TTC or already pregnant on Prednisolone and/or Intralipid treatment.

Newcomers very much welcome!

Sunny, yes definitely. I normally get a positive on a normal test about 3 days after an early one.

brownstag · 25/10/2014 07:22

Hallo all
I used to be on this thread but have been lurking for a couple of weeks. Lapetiterouquine, congratulations and thanks for osting. I was very interested in your post about prednisolone reducing the reactivity of the uterine environment too much. Which doctor was this?
I have a 5-yr-old 'pred baby' but I took the pred from a few days after BFP, which was the first time I'd seen Mr S. Later, for 2.5 years while ttc on pred (and off) I didn't conceive at all, but last year(aged 42) I started to conceive again (and miscarry).
I did a lot of things differently so can't be sure what made the difference, but two of them were to reduce the amount of pred I took and to stop aspirin. I just decided to do it myself without consulting Mr S as I disliked taking pred so much long-term. So I'd take 10mg pred from about 4dpo to 9dpo. I've had 4 pregancies like this. My last one I only took 10mg for 3 days and still conceived! So there may well be something in the idea.
If this is the case I would find it very depressing personally, in that advice I was given may have prevented pregnancy, at a time when my eggs may have still been decent. Now at 43, I feel egg quality is the main cause of my miscarriages.
tmgs2005, welcome and good luck. My advice would be to go with the treatment you've been asked to follow. You may well be successful; look at free for instance. You don't say how old you are. If it doesn't work after 6 months I would say keep an open mind and be preprared to look at alternatives as certain doctors seem to have their own pet theories and I don't think the treatment is a one-size fits all. 5 years ago the treatment I was given fitted me perfectly and I have a healthy son; but since then, not so much.

Random question - did another test this morning - bfn - but realised my first respobse tests are not the early result ones just the normal ones - do you think it makes a massive difference?!

tmgs2005 · 24/10/2014 22:57

Hi ladies.

I hope you don't mind me joining this thread? After a number of mcs I've recently been to see dr s and have been diagnosed with a high nk cell count. I have recently finished my 2nd injection of humira followed by a blood test, I will get my results in a few weeks. Hopefully if my levels have dropped I can't start ttc in nov. I have tried to google what to expect in the coming months however I just feel so overwhelmed and really don't know where to begin. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. X

Tryingno1 · 24/10/2014 21:54

Rosa I share same worry re the pred!
I omitted it this month incase I didn't get preg. But worried the whole time incase I was! Anyway it didn't help me get preg...also on his routine it's only for 9 days which isn't actually toooo many days...hopefully we won't be on it for too much longer month after month (postive thinking and all that! )

Rosa27 · 24/10/2014 19:49

Thanks Teamdozie and Lapetiterouquine.. It's such a boost to hear more journeys that ended happily.

I wonder about the pred from ovulation more and more.. If it was from BFP then it wouldn't affect the uterine environment until after ovulation.

The consultant I saw today didn't have a view on sperm DNA testing. Seems they all just have their one areas of specialism and views - it's so lucky we are all here to help each other pull all the info together. Happy Friday everyone!

Tryingno1 · 24/10/2014 18:02

Laptei-thanks for ur wonderful message! Another inspiring story. Did u see prof q? And can I ask if you continued on the asprin after the scratch or did you stop it? Some
People think its hinders implantatiom but mr s who I am
Under doesn't think that....
Enjoy cuddles with ur little girl and thanks for coming on here to tell us all!
Hopender-lets stay postive. Enjoy acu-when is urs? I find mine really postive and I find the talking to her before as helpful as the acu if not more!

Lapetiterouquine · 24/10/2014 17:08

Hi all,
I've been lurking on this thread for an eternity and I've finally decided to share my story in the hope that it will be another sign that happy endings do exist for those who experience RMC.
Around 4 years ago I fell pregnant with my 1st baby and sadly discovered at my 12 week scan that the pregnancy had stopped a couple of weeks earlier. I fell pregnant another 3 times in the year that followed. All 3 lost between 5-8 weeks. After a battery of tests, myself and my partner were treated with antibiotics for urea plasma. I also showed a high NK cell count.
I was prescribed 25mg prednisone and low dose aspirin from CD1 and progesterone from ovulation. Having fallen on the first month of trying with the 4 initial pregnancies, I didn't fall pregnant on the treatment after 4 months.
My doctor did a new uterine biopsy post treatment and told me the prednisone had reduced the reactivity of my uterine environment too much (apparently quite common). She recommended a uterine 'scratch ' to boost fertility and continued treatment with pred etc.
Despite a total lack of confidence on my part, it worked. The result is a beautiful 6 month old baby girl snoozing quietly next to me. I loitered on this thread before and throughout the pregnancy and was reassured to see that all my fears and doubts were shared. Thanks for all those who were ball-sy enough to participate when I wasn't. And for those still trying, there really is light at the end of the tunnel. The end result is so so worth it.

Hopender · 24/10/2014 15:01

I love the positive stories too! I do think it is really likely that we will all get there. I guess I have my little boy so I am proof too that even with a lot of miscarriages it can work out. Out of all of the people who started out with this thread a few years ago so many seem to have had success too. I have just booked acupuncture and determined to think positively for next month too. Not sure what I'd do without this thread. It really does help!

Tryingno1 · 24/10/2014 09:56

Congrats teamdozie. Thanks for coming on here. Stories like yours make me keep going! I'm going to try be more postive about it all this month- it will happen! As my acupuncturist says-it will happen. Just not when and how you wanted, but it will. Must believe everyone around me who says that!
Duggs any movement?!
Af arrived. Kinda relieved was worried I was having an ectopic/missing my period/and loads of other medically impossible things!

teamdozie · 24/10/2014 08:20

Hi everyone!

Been so long since I've been on here so thought I would check up on everyone!

free 29 weeks! So exciting!! Feels like ages ago h was there! Bring on baby free no2! You have been such an inspiration and thatnk you for creating this thread he has helped me immensely!!

village how are you??
duggs not long now??
Waves to people I have missed (that may remember me)

To all the ladies on here I'm sorry to hear of your recent BFN but please don't give up!

I found this thread a year and a half ago after being recommended to Dr S. I had six months of trying to naturally and finaly fell pregnant but had a MC. After that I decided to have SO as six months felt like years and fell pregnant first go.

I am typing this whilst little one is fast asleep on me. She is 15 weeks now and showing signs of teething!! I don't think I would have got through all of this without the girls on here.
I never ever thought I would be talking about teething!!!

A bit of my history. DH and I lost a little boy at 20 weeks nearly 3 years ago and then over a 18month period I had 5 more MC. I like some you never ever thought I would have a baby and I have! Keep the faith! I promise it will happen!

Tryingno1 · 23/10/2014 22:46

Good attitude rosa. Lets all try be postive. It's got to happen at some point for us?!
I stillll don't have af?!!!! Only one day late and 6 hpt down. Pain in the ass. Wish it would come (then I can have a lattee tmrw and a glass of vino at night!)
Night girls

Rosa27 · 23/10/2014 22:43

Mel.. I know how you feel about Christmas. Last Christmas I was pregnant .. Lost my second on Boxing Day. Had to run out on my whole family without saying goodbye. This year I just wish I could afford to be away somewhere different. But maybe that would be difficult too.. No easy answers. We just need to try keep Smile

Rosa27 · 23/10/2014 22:39

Sunnyday- have you been on pred the whole time?

Rosa27 · 23/10/2014 22:38

Hope you have a good day tomorrow Duggs and your little miracle arrives! :)

Free- I can imagine you're sooo looking fwd to that stage where everything is 'normal and natural'.. Nearly there :) Did you have any side effects with hydroxy? I've thinner hair, v dry eyelids and tightness in my chest. Hard to be sure what's causing it given other drugs and the Humira allergy.

Trying - I fell pregnant 2 months after my 1st missed miscarriage .. Been 4 months since my last missed miscarriage ... Don't think any reasons we can identify so just need to be healthy physically and mentally and put our faith in the docs .. Though keep questioning and challenging as sure that's what's got us all so far .. On that note look into lewisfertitlitytesting.com if you're interested in sperm DNA testing. Meant to be good results for all outcomes. Think c£450 And results in a week. I'm asking an NHS consultant tomorrow for a 2nd opinion.

Hopender - hang in there. We're same age and same place- geographically and in pred cycles. I have plenty down days but feel positive today. No reason at all but just really don't want to look back and wish had lived more .. No matter what the future holds ...

sunnyday01 · 23/10/2014 19:40

I'll be ok tomorrow, I always find testing day the hardest to deal with! I have been trying fir 22 months - I got pregnant the first month (jan 2013) and then again in October 2013 both ended in miscarriage. As I haven't got pregnant in the last year I decided thought I'd try out SO to see if would speed things up. I'm going to give it the 6 months and then see how I feel I think.

Hopender · 23/10/2014 14:57

So sorry about the BFNs sunny and mel. I know how hard it is to feel upbeat so sending a big hug. Coming on this thread really helps me to cope and I hope you are feeling brighter soon.
trying I like your policy of not telling your DH when you are ovulating. It is such a passion killer! It is so mean of your AF to be late. I have lots of cramps so almost certain I am out too. Only on day 8 though. Do any of you find that your cramps have been much worse on the pred? For the last two cycles I have had bad cramps from day 6.
Duggs keep us updated on your news! So exciting! I was interested to read what you said about super ovulation. I think I might hold off for another few months. I hate taking all of the medication and it would be pretty difficult financially on top of everything else.
Christmas isn't here yet so hopefully some of is might have some good news by then! Xxx

Tryingno1 · 23/10/2014 13:02

Ah! Lovely how exciting. Have u got a few names up ur sleeve? I know it journey has been long so congrats, u truely deserve it.
Well this is cycle 3 ( I know it's not been many so I should calm down!). Started ttc 18 months ago and have 3 miscarriages to show for it :(

duggs1976 · 23/10/2014 12:37

Is a boy trying... How long have you been trying now ?

Tryingno1 · 23/10/2014 12:35

Sorry Mel and sunny day. It's so upsetting, I'm having a bad day too. Af rudely not arrived but another neg hpt today 14dpo so I know I'm out. And annoyed af is misbehaving. Also feeling like a baby in my life may never happen and trying not to cry at work...feels like forever I've been ttc...lets hope our next cycles are the ones for us!
Dugs that's really exciting! Best of luck hope it gets things moving quickly! Do u know if its a boy or girl?

duggs1976 · 23/10/2014 11:29

Yep they advise 6 cycles and then move on... But moving on might just be try the old fashioned way and use an ovulating predictor kit! It did make me panic more thinking if i couldn't conceive on 8 cycles with 2 eggs what is wrong ? But some say interfering with someone who ovulated already can have a detrimental affect on egg quality so try not to worry too much. If you can conceive naturally you will again...

sunnyday01 · 23/10/2014 11:07

I agree duggs that SO does put more expectation on the cycle - in my case both cycles I have had 2 eggs so you think you have double the chance but haven't got pregnant on either cycle. But as you say there is the 'positives' that you know you're ovulating etc etc.

We have only been DTD when advised by Dr S, next month I am going to do the sperm meets egg plan as I think i'd prefer to do it more often over a week or so.

duggs1976 · 23/10/2014 10:27

Oh and forgot to add, I think later on a couple of others had chemical pregnancies so nothing productive... But probably age related anyway on that front !

duggs1976 · 23/10/2014 10:25

Ladies.. Although I found the concept of super ovulation exciting ( you have some control and some milestones to tick off... Taking letrozole, the mid cycle scan etc. ) it does put more expectation in each cycle. Personally I did 8 or 9 rounds and none worked for me despite having 6 natural conceptions over 4 and half years so don't despair ! You've conceived before and you will again .. There was one lady called kittens who conceived on the plan but more of us didn't seem to have any more success on it than off it. Hoping there is some success soon, but do take the promises etc with a lump of salt. It shouldn't be reflective of you as individuals. Is a great money spinner for the doctors and feels pro active for us but with that come the expectations.
My due date today - no sign of anything so just got to fill my time until Tuesday when I'm booked in for an induction Shock

sunnyday01 · 23/10/2014 09:57

BFN for me this morning too, so thats two rounds of SO completed for me now! I was upset this morning as i thought i had a few signs that i could be pregnant but they seem to have disappeared now i have the BFN!

I am feeling really fed up today, the reality of actually holding a baby in my arms feels a lifetime away :(
