Just wondered if anyone can shed any light on this...

We are ttc #1, on 3rd cycle. Around ovulation (used clearblue digital smiley face thing to tell) I had ovulation cramping. I've had this previously, it stabs and then dies after a day or so.

This time it started as a stabbing pain about 2 inches from right hip, lower pelvis, as normal. Then it sort of went away, however if I push down on the area it twinges a lot. The real killer is when DP and I dtd, if he goes in too deep it sends a shooting pain like a lightning bolt through the area. Rocks my world, but NOT in a good way! Makes me feel sick with pain! It's fine if we don't go too deep, though.

I don't have PCOS as far as I'm aware (just long cycles, between 35-39 days), so having consulted with dr google, I'm not convinced it's rupturing ovarian cysts.

I guess the thing is that I've NEVER experienced this before. Has anyone else?

Thanks x

but still not giving up that coffee...... just... cant.... do it!

stubbornstains · 05/05/2014 19:41

Whoop whoop Rpopz! Shit, does that mean I'm going to have to give up the caffeine too? Neverrrr!

PerpetualStudent · 05/05/2014 13:25

And congrats RPopz, how exciting!!

PerpetualStudent · 05/05/2014 13:24

Eek, just checked out endometriosis on NHS website - scary stuff! Thanks for flagging that up though Attila - I've been planning to go for a general TTC appointment anyway, so advice on this tread has deffo given me a few specific questions to ask!

AttilaTheMeerkat · 05/05/2014 11:59

I would state that deep pain felt during sex can be very suggestive of endometriosis being present. It can cause such shooting pains.

If this keeps happening the GP should refer you to a gynae as a matter of course (many GPs do not recognise this as a possible symptom of endometriosis).

RPopz · 05/05/2014 09:52

Hi ladies! Just wanted to pop in and say... had my totally unexpected BFP this week! Don't let those crazy disco cervixes hold you back!!! Grin

PerpetualStudent · 29/04/2014 09:47

Hi ladies, can I join? I've had this evil sex pain on & off for years (once it was so bad I nearly fainted & was sick after, yeah... sexy) I've been to the Drs before but they couldn't find anything, but it sounds very much like it might be 'retro cervix' - will be back in GP surgery demanding they check it out ASAP!

Do they deffo no longer associate it with infertility? We're in 1st month of TTC, had a frustraiting session of DTD this morning, with me yelping/leaping away whenever it felt like my cervix was being punched (TMI? Feel safe after guffblob-gate), leading to the 'vital fluids' never reaching their destination.... late to work for nothing!

Blugh, Im with you right now on feeling pissed off with your body - I've been eating quinoa for years & how does it repay me?!

icy121 · 28/04/2014 21:49

Hahaha fancyacupoftea I'm there on the trumpy fanny via doggy style! OH very diplomatically ignores, after all it's his fault.

Searing sex pains gone for now, hope they don't return. I was so convinced that Because it was an altogether new pain, it had to be a pg symptom, SURELY etc etc. clutching at straws I guess. Onwards and upwards. Ate asparagus and spinach sans butter to 'health up' dinner Envy (that green face is for sick) - fuck it was rank.

I fully concur with you Rpopz Grin. Mmmm...I've just googled "cervical positions during ovulation", and apparently it goes up instead of down....Whatever.

I think that the only conclusion I can draw from this is that it's possible for a girl to do way too much overthinking! (and overshagging, possibly Grin).

RPopz · 27/04/2014 22:12

Oooh yeah certain times of the month doggy style is a big no no here.

Rest of the month its.... Grin Grin Grin lol

fancyacupoftea · 27/04/2014 22:04

Can't believe I just admitted that

fancyacupoftea · 27/04/2014 22:04

Urrrgh no can't do from behind - my retro disco cervix does NOT agree with that. Fuck that. Plus it makes me a bit erm... trumpy from the fanny.

stubbornstains · 27/04/2014 22:01

According to the Mumsnet Words of Wisdom, it's either missionary or from behind, on account of getting the sperm closer to the cervix. 'Twas the latter Blush. And, if anything, it all felt too bloody close to the cervix!

RPopz · 27/04/2014 21:14

Missionary?

fancyacupoftea · 27/04/2014 21:10

What's the approved conception position?!

stubbornstains · 27/04/2014 20:42

Oh yeah, back to the original subject....DTD last week in the, er, "approved conception position", and it was really quite painful. It felt like my cervix was quite a bit lower than normal. I think I was ovulating (haven't resorted to peeing on sticks yet)- is this an ovulation "thing"?

stubbornstains · 27/04/2014 20:39

Some coffee is fine. I had a good old Google the other day, and it seems you can have up to the equivalent of 2 large cups of filter coffee. (which must be about 17 cups of Nescafe, honestly, piss of SatanGrin). I have one mega coffee every morning from an Italian stovetop pot. It's probably about a quadruple espressso. I keep on telling myself that that's no more than 2 large filter coffees etc etc, but to be honest have no idea whatsoever....Blush

thamrin · 23/04/2014 07:51

caffeine cold turkey sounds like hell. whats the deal with nescafe coffee is is really that bad when TTC? Even when i do eventually fall pregnant i never planned on stopping caffeine... is it really that detrimental to 1) fertility and 2) developing baby? surely i dont have to give up caffeine?!!!!!! aarrrrhgghhh

RPopz · 20/04/2014 22:31

Reflexology... oh man I've been there. Serious low point for me as a professional scientist.... You're exactly right too, they're all just cashing in on desperation Sad

Month two of my caffeine cold turkey... hopefully next month is the one!

icy121 · 20/04/2014 19:56

thamerin good luck with self control - I've banned myself buying them online as "then they're relatively cheap so can go wild". Unfortunately my walk to work takes me past Boots on regent street so end up buying full price spendy ones, which I promptly waste. More good luck with the result, of course!

Haha yes rpopz you're right, the books contain nothing you can't find online. Found myself reading Zita West, I know all the diet stuff, low GI, high alkaline, Mayr clinic principles. Skimmed through all of that. Which means the new info bits are basically "what Chinese element type are you, fire or metal", which is, erm, interesting in a kind of "this is how the ancient Egyptians did it, but let's face it they didn't have penicillin so..." kinda way. Looking at old Mumsnet threads has now convinced me all this ttc alternative stuff is being pedalled by charlatans who exploit women's desperation, frustration and fear.

The fact a good diet takes c. 3 months to take effect in your body is bloody depressing too.

Guffblob - it was a low point!

Positive mental attitude.

I will not: research acupuncture, reflexology, reiki, google anything relating to what day of my cycle I'm on, hate my stupid body, spend 2 hrs of daily commute rinsing phone battery looking at fertility/baby websites.

I will: eat good foods, do decent but not crazy exercise, get lots of sleep, get up early and have relaxing breakfasts, see friends and laugh lots, read trashy fun novels on the train, find a new boxset for evenings and spend at least 15 mins a day in the garden enjoying the plants and flowers. This will get me through the next 36 days!

Resolutions girls?!

X

RPopz · 19/04/2014 19:14

Also... guffblob Hmm If that isn't it urban dictionary, it soon will be!! Grin

RPopz · 19/04/2014 19:13

That was me last month icy... AF arrived and I was straight online buying opks and preseed! No more books though, they just tell me what I already know and its annoying! Chin up love, wallowing is totally allowed though (or so I tell myself every month) ....

fancyacupoftea · 19/04/2014 17:58

Icy I'm so sorry about af arriving. Not going to lie though - laughed at your story. Guffblob is totally something I would do.

Blueuggboots · 19/04/2014 17:24

I got told I had a retroverted cervix - basically it means the sperm might have to do a little jump to get in think salmon swimming upstream!
It sorted itself out after DS pelvic floor?? What's THAT??
