Htbftm congratulations! What happy news! Thanks

htbftm · 05/04/2014 19:51

Hi all, hadn't technically joined the April Bus, life took a turn in January when my Dad died out of the blue, so ttc had taken a backseat, but we managed to dtd about the right time last mth and I got a BFP this afternoon! Can't believe it!! :)

Treaclepie19 · 05/04/2014 19:42

Wine cheers :)

Fingers crossed for us both. I should be around 2dpo today. If i ovulated.

PolytheneGirl · 05/04/2014 19:28

I know exactly where you're coming from Treacle I've been feeling exactly the same this month, particularly this last week. It's not that I'm not happy for people I know who are pregnant, I just find it all very difficult to be around. It's just hard! Wine Cheers.

Treaclepie19 · 05/04/2014 19:23

Thanks Poly, the whole process is getting me down this month. I just want it so much. Sorry for moaning, i know we all want it.

I shall continue with my wine :)

PolytheneGirl · 05/04/2014 19:12

I'll be 11dpo tomorrow Zebra so it is still early.

Well done for holding it together Treacle I think medically it is ok to drink in the tww. With DS I get absolutely smashed about a week before I found out I was pg and he turned out better than fine! he was unplanned

Starbright24 · 05/04/2014 19:11

Fx for everyone else of you lovely ladies on the bus.

Starbright24 · 05/04/2014 19:10

I used to have a lab too. Definitely love them and want another (ex took my last one many years ago Sad )

Af here definitely now. Not sure what silly sticks were doing this morning but I've just ordered anothrr batch and opks for next cycle.

Never been to a baby shower. It's bad enough listening to my sis talking about when she was pregnant with herlittle boys years ago - and tthey're my little nephews who are gorgeous. Not sure how much I'd enjoy one.

Treaclepie19 · 05/04/2014 18:52

Well spent the afternoon with my friend who is due in August. She started ttc the same time as us so a little sore about it even though i am so happy for her. Bought her baby his first present today.
Struggling to keep it together!

Got BIL and SIL coming over later and I know they will talk about ttc. They dont know we are. Already having a glass of wine. Dont normally drink in the 2ww but dont even know if ive ovulated? :/

ZebraZeebra · 05/04/2014 18:49

Poly if it were me I'd probably test tomorrow but I'm pretty lacking in any kind of self control. So will you be 12 DPO tomorrow?

MrsExtroadinairy thanks yeah I've been using OV tests sticks for a few months and have been regularly ovulating. My period came back very early post partum but it's been a while since I fully ovulated. Fun times!

I hate this. I get myself into such a tizz. Last four months, same pattern - testing early and not really believing the BFNs because I've tested so early. And hen AF finally comes, being so disappointed. 12 DPO tomorrow.

Good luck to everyone.

lindamagoo · 05/04/2014 18:47

genni af was due yesterday so god knows what's happening...

My pal had a baby shower, I never went but even she said it was dull, all cake, coffee and baby talk, it was a surprise shower for her long awaited baby but she said she'd rather everyone else got sloshed and had a laugh instead of tea party'ish and sensible, lol

PolytheneGirl · 05/04/2014 18:18

I've never been to one either, but I think that is the general idea, with lots of baby talk. Is it acceptable to get completely off your face in the tww? I can't see me getting through it without some major tears in the lady's.

I do like the idea of clinging on to any hope I have for as long as possible!

gennibugs · 05/04/2014 18:14

I've never been to a baby shower - are they just like a mini tea party with gifts?

gennibugs · 05/04/2014 18:12

Bah to a bfn Linda. How many dpo are you?

Poly I think I'd wait. I'd rather not know I think. But then I prefer being in denial and having hope, I know others just want to know one way or another.

PolytheneGirl · 05/04/2014 18:12

Exactly, I don't think I will be able to resist unless I go straight to the loo in the morning and flush it! I'd feel great being there knowing I had a little secret bean in there though!

I myself am completely anti-baby shower! I think they are "American twaddle" this may just be because no one threw me one?

Ideally though I wouldn't test for another couple of days. I may go completely insane before AF is due later this week!

MrsExtraOrdinary · 05/04/2014 17:59

Poly I think I'd do it after. Because then I'm not sure I'd hold it together enough to enjoy a baby shower. I'm not sure though as I've never been to one Blush I used to think they were a bit American but that's probably because I never knew enough people who'd be excited for me to bother with a party, lol. They weren't invented 16 years ago.

I remember very clearly on dc3 when I'd tested about a million times and got BFNs, going to visit a friend who'd just had her first. As soon as I had her newborn in her arms I knew I was pg. I just knew. Came home did a test the next morning and finally bfp at about 7 wks.

Poly will you be able to resist ?

MrsExtraOrdinary · 05/04/2014 17:51

Ds has been fine all day, thanks for the understanding. But clearly I've got to say something to nursery tomorrow.

Hi zebra, I conceived dd while bfing my eldest ds. It can be a little harder to conceive as cycles tend not to be so regular. But if it's only down to one feed it shouldn't have much impact. You may find pin pointing ov with a stick helps. Makes sure you're eating really well too. Good luck.

Linda I'm so sorry about your friend. What a week you've had. I hope you and the dc are on the mend Thanks and much better soon.

PolytheneGirl · 05/04/2014 17:50

So tomorrow I have to go to this stupid baby shower, which if you hadn't already gathered I'm not looking forward to. I'll be 11dpo. Do you think I should poas in the morning? I know I'll be really happy to go as well as just being ecstatic if I get a BFP and I'll really enjoy it. If I get a BFN I am probably going to be even more miserable.

I don't know what to do for the best or even if I'd get a BFP this early. If I get a BFN at 11dpo would it be a definite negative? Someone tell me what to do.....?

spinningirl10 · 05/04/2014 17:22

Hi, I thought I'd posted this morning but I can't see it!

Sorry Linda for the bfn, I've also just poas and got a bfn, not even a hint of a line!!

MrsE, Hope your son is feeling better today, I would have been cross that they hadn't removed the sting!

Spotti · 05/04/2014 17:13

Lemon - both of our dogs (mine and the foster Support Dog) are Labradors, or Lab Crosses so are pretty docile and loveable anyway (cannot recommend Labs enough, LOVE them!) so if you're looking at dogs, you know which type I'd choose! Not tested C (foster dog) with kids yet, but apparently she has been living with young teenagers for the past year or so, so should be ok around them...obviously littlies/toddlers are a whole different ball game, but O (my pooch) has been brilliant with my 3 year old nephew - he comes to call in the park when L shouts him (it's soooo cute to see) - and he has seen my 5/6 month old neice, and apart from being really interested in sniffing her car seat, he's been fine. I actually can't wait to get pregnant and introduce O to the little one...I think he look after any baby like a puppy even though he's a boy dog. He's such a softy and I think he will love having kids around Smile although I've already 'child proofed' him, just in case, by getting him used to someone grabbing his tail, pulling his fur, playing with his lips etc...he took it all in his stride and actually seemed to enjoy the attention!

So yeah, Labradors all the way!

Where abouts are you based? I train horses and dogs for a living (well, alongside working part time in a cafe) so if you needed a hand and you're not too far away...you know where I am!

With regards to having a dog before/after a baby, my OH wanted to wait until after but I convinced him that before was better idea as even if I was to get upduffed tomorrow, we would still have 9 months to settle the dog and train them up to be well behaved around kids. O came into our lives back in September (before we decided to TTC) and we haven't looked back since :)

PolytheneGirl · 05/04/2014 17:13

Thanks Metal it was actually too early to expect to see anything though. Good luck with your tww and your job prospect. When's your interview?
