Victoria I have just got a fertility monitor as well and started using it on Tuesday....so far no smiley faces...but I do feel more in control especially since my cycle hasn't settled down after coming off the pill. I'm using it everyday until we go away on holiday on Sunday and hoping something happens in that time to indicate I'll OV before we go! Otherwise we might just need to skip this month and try again next month.

JacktheLab · 03/04/2014 07:14

Thanks for the welcome everyone Grin

My period is due sat no signs of pregnancy and test this morning was negative so losing hope :(

On the plus side I am planning to eat a bucket of pate and drink some decent coffee when the fat lady sings!

Hope everyone has a good day today and those with ex issues get them sorted quickly

RPopz · 02/04/2014 19:48

Yeah I think that's what I need too, some control!

DrewsWife · 02/04/2014 19:40

I'm hoping so. But will likely be next month. I still like using it. Gives me a feeling of having some control over this Grin

RPopz · 02/04/2014 19:38

I'm hoping it does the trick for us otherwise I'll seriously start worrying!

DrewsWife · 02/04/2014 19:31

I have been using the clearblue monitor too. It's really helped me identify my days. The first month you will use it every single day so it gets to know you. Months after that will use about 10. I have used it 3 months now and I love it.

I start just after my period. And hubby and I love to put the stick in the monitor and watch. Lol.

Using the opk they only give
Me a couple of days info and even at that I'm confused by them.

RPopz · 02/04/2014 19:01

Ha Victoria that is the perfect way to describe it!

Its a clearblue one, just a fancy opk I think, but it monitors another hormone as well as LH so it tells you 5 fertile days rather than one... Some how! Another thing to pee on/ in!

victoria401 · 02/04/2014 18:51

tooth I get about 3 days of pains around ov. Feels like a huge bubble stuck in my lower left side. Makes doing a wee hurt never mind doing the deed! Why are our bodies so weird like this?

rpopz what does a fertility monitor do? Do I need one?! (don't say monitor fertility!) [Wink]

RPopz · 02/04/2014 18:39

I know right. Only got til tomorrow to start using it before its too late for this cycle as well! Angry

toothachereturns · 02/04/2014 18:30

Rpopz - how annoying!

toothachereturns · 02/04/2014 18:30

We too are suffering from needless court cases.... Dhs ex doesn't want his to dds anywhere near me (oh the cliché). We've had 3 yrs and thousands of pounds worth of court time.... next court date in June. We have decided we can't put our life on hold anymore so ttc despite it all!

Anyhoo.... Awful IBS pains today. This happened last month around ovulation too. very sore. Sad Hardly making me want to dtd.
Anyone else get this?

RPopz · 02/04/2014 18:13

Afternoon ladies, hope we're all well. My fertility monitor got delivered this morning but I was at work so now its gone to the sorting office aargh!

DrewsWife · 02/04/2014 09:54

Mel I don't envy you that. My years of exP raising needless court orders and thankfully behind me.

As long as you can prove he hasn't been denied access then I can't see why he should get legal aid. But the idiots always get their way eh. Hmm

OP posts:
MelMc73 · 02/04/2014 09:21

Morning folks.....and welcome to JacktheLab!

Having a bit of a stressful week so far. My DS's father has decided to needlessly raise a court action for contact.....a massive inconvenience and stress when we are TTC! I got intimation that he's applied for legal aid so had to go to see a solicitor yesterday to go through the history of it all. It's very convoluted but the upshot is that I have never refused contact, he's just been extremely inconsistent which isn't really in the best interests of DS who is only 7. The other problem is that he lives 250 miles away! Effing idiot. It's going to cost us a fortune in solicitors fees as well. Effing twat. Sorry.....Angryranting!

We're going away with the caravan on Sunday for a week's holiday to Northumberland so I am desperately waiting for a smiley face on the digital opk before we go lol.....dtd in the caravan is not really an option/practical lol!

drewswife you might still be okay if you dtd on Sunday and Ov'd on Monday as the swimmers can last 3-5 days......fx!!

RPopz · 02/04/2014 08:09

It only takes one Drew ;-) x

DrewsWife · 02/04/2014 07:35

Rpopz. Friday and Sunday. Blush That's all. Eeeeeeek

JacktheLab · 02/04/2014 06:57

HI there, I might just join you guys if that's okay? I'm waiting for af to show up, anytime before Friday so I still have a stupid hope that it might just not turn up and I'd be getting an early xmas present!

I jumped my husband the day before ov was supposed to have happened, but no really had any signs to indicate that we were successful this month :(

How do you guys feel about an xmas baby if you are successful in April? My son was about a week early in 2011 and given my dates that would mean almost certainly a very early January due date, not sure whether to sit this round out and start trying again in May. Mind in a years time I don't think I will be so fussed about timings if we still don't have a baby on the way!

Zermatt · 02/04/2014 02:18

I had reflexology for the first time at the weekend and can highly recommend it. The lady explained to me at waht point on my feet/ankle the ovaries and fallopian tube are, the massage was really relaxing and she said at the end that she hadnt felt anything unusual in my reproductive areas, and had done a hormone balancing bit for me at the end. I will go again next month, more for the relaxing part than for anything else.

RPopz · 01/04/2014 21:28

Its funny you're all talking about reflexology today! I was researching it last night, debating having some done. The scientist in me doesn't want to believe it'll have any effect at all but I've read so many good things about it on here!! Can't hurt eh?

Drew did you dtd before you ovulated because I think the couple of days before hand are better than the actual day! X

DrewsWife · 01/04/2014 15:31

Well missed the boat. Hubby still unwell. No point starting my 2 week wait now is there.

Just about ready for work. Am only on til midnight. Thankfully and then off tomorrow night.

I think the egg lasts for 12-24 hours, so yes, still a chance (although I always wonder how long it takes those spermies to swim to the egg)

DrewsWife · 01/04/2014 13:09

A realllllly stupid question. I ovulated last night. Am I still fertile?? Do I still have a chance??

OP posts:
victoria401 · 01/04/2014 13:00

Drew! Do it! Reflexology is amazing! I'm a convert to having my feet touched! I come out feeling relaxed with a spring in my step :-)

DrewsWife · 01/04/2014 12:13

Had an appointment with nurse for my smear yesterday. I'm still on yearly smears thanks to cancer cells in 2012. Glad I never miss those awful smears! Had major amounts of laser treatment. Thankfully didn't need more than three lots of that!

Nurse was faaaab. She is old school and told me to fling my fee against the wall if that's what I want to do. Ignore the young docs. Oh and here is a basal temp chart lol.

Tips on making sure that hubby comes inside me Grin. Make sure not to pressure him too much. have sex as often as you want and can.

And other stuff. She was brilliant. She also suggested reflexology too. Haven't broached that one yet as I'm not keen on my feet being touched Grin
