RPopz · 05/04/2014 14:52

I'm on day 5/6 so a while to go yet! Yoyoing between happy positive new month vibes and dread of my next AF already... Start using my clearblue tomorrow which I'm quite excited about... how sad is that!! X

victoria401 · 05/04/2014 14:50

Oh I'm left behind!

Tranquilitybaby · 05/04/2014 14:18

This is a very quiet thread... Guess its coz most of us haven't even ovd yet! The 'fun' part is the symptom spotting 2ww I guess!

Cd8 today and just sitting back sipping grapefruit juice sure its giving me ulcers on my tongue waiting to start smep tonight! Feeling much chirpier as spotting has finally stopped and this month is a new month and a new start :-)

toothachereturns · 04/04/2014 18:45

tis all very confusing! !! According to my app I'm 3 dpo and officially on the 2ww! I'll poas next Friday morning though.... I have no willpower!
Plus DH is getting his dcs for 6 days over Easter hols from next Saturday And since there's a court order to keep them away from their wicked stepmum Angry he has to move back to his flat for that week!! Would be good to get a BFP before he goes. Smile

RPopz · 04/04/2014 11:19

Well this is what confuses me... the app is right, its the clear blue that seems to be counting wrong! However, I looked in instructions last night and it does say it may do that! :-s

DrewsWife · 04/04/2014 10:55

Rpopz you go by first day of period.

I use apps too but I don't find them accurate.

First day of period is day one.

MelMc73 · 04/04/2014 10:39

wiltingfast its a basal temperature thermometer you need....they are more accurate. I've seen them on amazon....

RPopz · 03/04/2014 19:29

Regarding your much earlier question Victoria... the clearblue fertility monitor says I am on cycle day 3 as period started on Monday... my period tracker app says I am on cycle day 4... So who knows how you're supposed to count!!

wiltingfast · 03/04/2014 17:26

oh and if you take your basal body temp, is that just orally with an ordinary thermometre bit dim here?

wiltingfast · 03/04/2014 17:22

Ah I see, thank you victoria!

Fwiw, I have no cysts, they diagnosed it on the basis of hormonal tests. Must be 15y ago now though. Think I might give them a go and see. I'm cd6 now so better get a move on... has to be better than peering at my pants every morning!

victoria401 · 03/04/2014 15:27

I think with pcos you sometimes get elevated LH levels (which is the hormone detected by opks in case you didn't know already) so maybe that's why they're not suitable. But I have been diagnosed with elevated LH so prob no point in my buying a monitor. I've not got pcos though as ive had a scan. Mystery. I've bought opks this month just to have a go and see what it shows. DH was moaning about the £9 I paid for them never mind £60+!

wiltingfast · 03/04/2014 13:48

Hmm, googling it seems like since I do have regular periods it is worth a try....

wiltingfast · 03/04/2014 13:46

Ah, interesting, have been thinking about an opk this month but got very confused in the shop. They seemed to say they were no good for someone with pcos?

I got a pcos diagnosis years and years ago and before ttc took dianette for it, but never had cysts and no trouble conceiving the first two darlings so not sure I really have pcos iyswim... main symptoms are hairy chin/neck and male pattern thinning hair.

Not sure whether to buy or not.... anyone else got pcos?

RPopz · 03/04/2014 12:14

Search "clearblue fertility monitor" - you do get a lot of nonsense coming up... the actual monitor looks like a little smartphone/ computer tho. The sticks are just like opks I think. X

RPopz · 03/04/2014 12:12

I got the monitor off ebay for 57 quid (in boots they are 167!!!). It lasts as long as you want to use it I think! The sticks you pee on are single use, they're about 20 quid for 20... you use less as time goes on and it "learns" your cycle. Are you contemplating one Victoria? X

DrewsWife · 03/04/2014 11:11

Sticks are single use not the monitor

OP posts:
DrewsWife · 03/04/2014 11:11

Saw the monitor for £50. Yes they are single use. But they are worth it. To know exactly when you ovulate is worth it in my opinion

OP posts:
victoria401 · 03/04/2014 10:26

Just looked them up on amazon! They cost a small fortune and all sorts of stuff comes up. Digital ov, 20 pack - so are they single use?!

victoria401 · 03/04/2014 10:25

Omg

victoria401 · 03/04/2014 10:23

So these monitors, how long do they last? And how much do they cost?
