The Rules...

(1) A lady may only POAS on a Friday.
(2) Friday means the day that everyone calls Friday in the time zone where you spent the night.
(3) Rule (1) does not apply to POA-OPK-S, UNLESS they are being illegitimately used as surrogate HCG detectors, in which case Rule (1) most definitely does apply
(4) Rule (1) does not apply following a BFP because if you want to waste £25 a day POADigiS that's your prerogative
(5) Rule (1) does not apply if a lady is POAS in an attempt to get a BFN to prove she can start DTD with intent
(6) Rule (1) does not apply if a lady wants for unknown reason to pee on an actual stick, like a twig or some such, if that lady is unexpectedly caught short whilst tramping in the forest looking for bears.
(7) These rules (including Rule (1)) are subject to the change at any time if the ladies of the Posifrickentivity thread decide on a whim come up with empirical evidence to prove that it is luckier to POAS on any other day of the week
(8) Violators of Rule (1) shall be subject to fish throwing.

And as a grand finale, why not pledge to NEVER POAS before 14DPO?

I have considered it but it was really expensive and after the initial consultation I was just in two minds about it. Then I conceived. I know there are low cost clinics about where they treat people at the same time. I will give it another look.

tannyLoo · 16/04/2014 14:05

Sebs have you considered acupuncture? My cycles are definitely better, to the hour this month, and my lining has improved too. My cycles previously could be all over the place, but usually short, and my lining has gone from 2mm to 8mm since January.

My acupuncturist is working on a plan to support me through conception and early pg.

I think it's taken a few months to really feel the benefits, but at the moment I'm seeing her fortnightly at a low-cost clinic for £25 a pop.

Sorry if I sound like a salesman!

sebsmummy1 · 16/04/2014 13:45

Hey don't be silly. I got my own hopes up!! I'm really wondering whether I should be going down the fertility route now. The only thing stopping me is the cost. I can imagine it can get extremely expensive very quickly!!!

The doctor has already said there is nothing they can do for me. I keep wondering if I need progesterone supplements in the second half of my cycle.

EnglishGirlAbroad · 16/04/2014 13:29

Afternoon lovely ladies,

Sorry Sebs, I hope we didnt contribute to you getting your hopes up. Sad
Sorry AF got you too Zah, fucking bitch!
Glad you've nearly got a bfn again Triple, hope you gets some answers at the rmc.

No news here... still low on cbfm. Bored of waiting!!

zahazie · 16/04/2014 12:49

metal sorry about the BFN, but maybe it's just too early?

so sorry sebs, it's crap, isn't it? I also have weird bleeding, which I find upsetting as it reminds me of my mc.

sebsmummy1 · 16/04/2014 12:41

Bfn for me unfortunately Sad

I'm getting lots of bloody ewcm type discharge. Weirdly it's very reminiscent of how my mc started. I've had a google and I think it's the watery lining of the uterus breaking down but it's still two days earlier than it should be which shows my progesterone is low I think.

I suspect I won't get my full AF flow today. I'm back to thinking I'm broke.

GailLondon · 16/04/2014 12:30

Wow bessie 15 weeks of bleeding! So glad the meds helped get your cycle back up and running, that sounds horrible.

Im 3dpo or so today...hubby asked me when my AF was due and said 'So i guess we'll wait until your period is a week or 2 late and then take a test?'

LOL he has no idea how addictive poas'ing is, i'll be lucky to wait until one day late more like 4 days early

Parsley2506 · 16/04/2014 12:21

I am just de-lurking to say STEP AWAY FROM THE HPT SEBS!

Triplespin · 16/04/2014 11:43

Hello everyone
Sorry I have not been around much - but really there hasn't been much to report until today :)

sebs yes you should definitely test with an FRER - if AF has not fully arrived yet. FX for you.

broody you will be missed, though i am sure you will get upduffed when you are taking a break from ttc !! as it always happens....

zahzie sorry that AF has arrived. CUTO....focus on next month.

metal yes as they say its not over till the witch arrives. Maybe you will have good news over Easter weekend!!

pengium fantastic news - was really happy to hear that. Must've been amazing seeing the HB. I have never got to this stage and so just passing that first hurdle in my mind is a good sign of things to come.

just sorry that you are 'normal', but at least you know its just a matter of time till you get pg again and you don't need any of those awful meds.

parsley, hollyben, sal hope you are all keeping well.

so as for me - 5 weeks now and still spotting. But the good news is that my hcg was down to 79 last thurday and I POAS on a 20iu HPT and either there was no line or it was soo faint that it was non existent. So basically I am v. v. close to a BFN. yay ! Now hoping that AF arrives soon.

I am due to have some RMC tests done at St. Mary's as well - which I can now hopefully book soon. So hoping to find some answers or a 'you're normal' response over the course of the next few months. We will ttc in between in any case.

BelleJolie · 16/04/2014 10:02

metalhead, thanks.

I often can't help myself POAS-ing! I've bought a pack to use once my 2ww is over but doubt it'll last till my AF due date... Will try to resist though! Hope your BFP is just a few days away...it's good you're still feeling positive.

Good luck with your DD's school!

Metalhead · 16/04/2014 09:11

x-post zahazie - sorry AF got you. Sad

Metalhead · 16/04/2014 09:10

Morning all, and welcome belle, sorry you find yourself here. I think we all feel that fear of not getting pregnant but also getting pregnant at the same time.

broody good luck with your house sale, and hopefully you will find yourself returning to ttc with renewed enthusiasm after a nice break!

Good news on your treatment plan just, it sounds very proactive which must be a good thing.

office I usually get faint lines for a while on the opks, then suddenly one almost positive followed by a true + the next day.

sebs I'm hoping you're hanging in there and it's not AF. Let us know how what's happening!

As for me, I was naughty and poas this morning - BFN. Not too surprised really as 11dpo is still early for me, and the rational part of my brain knows that if yesterday's cramping was implantation it would still be way too early to get a BFP. Still feeling quite positive, though I'm sure I'll be brought crashing down with a bang at the weekend... In other news, we're finding out today which school DD will be going to in September! Aaargh!

zahazie · 16/04/2014 09:09

broody - good luck with moving and enjoy your break from ttc

Sebs: are you sure it's AF for you?

Welcome belle!

Office: sending positivity your way

AF definitely arrived for me, so LP is only 10 days, but trying not to worry about that, I know that there is a lot of conflicting information about LPD, and I have decided to stick with the docs and decide that it's not a problem.

I haven't ever used OPKs and I think I will give up temping this month: keep it simple and try not to stress (easier said than done!)

bessie84 · 16/04/2014 08:47

broody - good luck in next couple of months. the ttc break will do you good and who knows, maybe it will give u a sticky bean

officelady · 16/04/2014 08:16

Oh Sebs that is shite! In your shoes I would be POAS, just to know one way or the other I guess. Unless as you say, it becomes an obvious AF before you get the chance to test. I was idly googling some stuff about extending LP recently, because over the last year my cycle has definitely shortened (used to be 30 days before my first mc, then went to 26 days and occasionally sometimes shorter). I haven't done anything about it before, because I've never really monitored exactly when I ovulate so I'm not certain whether it is a shortened LP or not. But this is definitely something I will be looking into after this month (I'm already assuming I will get a BFN - so much for positifrickentivity!).

sebsmummy1 · 16/04/2014 07:56

I wish Belle, I really do.

In fact I might just buy an hpt on the way back from the gym, if it's not obviously AF by then, just to know. Weirdly I'm less depressed about not being pregnant than I am about having a fucked up LP again.

BelleJolie · 16/04/2014 07:52

It's a roller coaster, isn't it :(

Could it be...dare I ask...implantation bleeding?

sebsmummy1 · 16/04/2014 07:43

It's ok. I just get my bloody hopes up each month and it pisses me off. My LP was 12 days last month which is normal for me. Now if this is AF starting it will be 10 days which is back to a defect.

BelleJolie · 16/04/2014 07:30

Sorry, sebs, x-posted.

BelleJolie · 16/04/2014 07:28

Thank-you, everyone!

Good luck Sebs, it sounds like you may be in luck!! Keep us updated xx

office, I'm quite new to OPKs myself, so someone more knowledgeable than me may come along and have a different experience...but I've been using OPKs twice a day (at the same times each day....I'm a bit of a compulsive POAS-er....) and, for me at least, the test line went suddenly darker between tests. It was quite obvious that I'd detected my surge.

sebsmummy1 · 16/04/2014 07:21

I think it's AF girls Sad

officelady · 16/04/2014 07:04

Farewell, Broody! Enjoy the break from ttc and good luck with the house move.
Welcome Belle. Sorry you find yourself here but this thread seems to have magical properties so hopefully you won't be here for too long Smile
And Sebs - I am crossing everything for you that you have a sticky one in there! Did you save your FMU so you can go and get a FRER today? Or are you being all laid back and waiting till tomorrow?!
Any news from zah or metal?
Just - great news on the plan! Now all you have to do us have lots of tith and get a bun in your oven!

I'm on cd11 so Operation SMEP is well underway Easter Grin
I have a thicko question about OPKs - do they tend to start off light as you approach ovulation, then get gradually darker? Or is it a case of faint line one day and dark line the next? I am using cheapies off the internet. I've only started using them last cycle and didn't ovulate so no idea really what to expect. At the moment I'm just getting a faint test line, but not sure if this is because my wee is too dilute. Anyway - all advice welcomed. Can't believe I'm in my forties and clueless about ovulation - I might get the hang of it before the menopause hahaha Easter Confused
