Anyone want to join me?

I'm 36 yo, ttc #1 and very excited about it. It's something I have wanted to do for a long time but it took me a while to find mr right!

l know I am no spring chick so I have some anxieties around that but I am trying to do everything right (eating well, exercising, cutting out alcohol/caffeine etc) and I want to start off optimistic :) am a seasoned pessimist/worrier!

Have been tracking my cycle for a good while. My periods are pretty regular and I thought I could feel my ovary twinging (strongly) when it wad supposed to. This has synched with positive opks so I guess I will soon be starting my first 2ww.

hey
I tried the opk sticks last month and the month before (we weren't trying that month I just wanted to see when I was ovulating) but felt I was never clearly getting the second pink line, so I felt like they weren't working. I also was using internet cheapies and I kept forgetting them after testing etc...I've got a few left so planning to use them again.

I think I may of missed ovulation last month, thinking the fertile period was over when actually it was probably later than expected because of the delayed period. We dtd a lot around the fertile time too!!! DH was very pleased!!

April1984 · 25/04/2014 14:17

Thanks patience DH won't know what has hit him this month!! Wink

patienceisvirtuous · 25/04/2014 13:19

I think it's recommended in general to dtd every other day through the whole month. And I think the every other day thing is to get the best sperm.

But we did it every day during high fertility - and a couple of extra times thrown in for good measure ;) which seems to have worked?!

My uninformed advice would be, just have plenty of sex, especially during your fertile time :)

April1984 · 25/04/2014 11:42

If using opk tests is it better to dtd daily during high fertility or every other day?!

patienceisvirtuous · 25/04/2014 11:01

Thanks lots :) It feels very surreal and I don't want to get my hopes up yet as very early days, but a BFP is a good first step hey :)

Lk, do you use ovulation predictor sticks? I did, and they really helped pinpoint when I was ovulating. I'd definitely recommend them. I just bought some cheapies from ebay.

Wow it so wonderful to see 2 BFP's have come and 2 little babes are therefore on their way - I am so pleased for you both!!

Sorry I've been away....super busy, day off today so time to catch up. Would love all your advice....so my last AF came 6 days late!! hence why i was getting quite sure i could have a bfp as I am always 29/30 days long...and that was our 1st TTC, so to suddenly be 6 days late was confusing! Now I am wondering what happens this cycle? when will I ovulate/how long will it be?
Do I consider my cycle to start when it normally would of or when it did come? Do I count it as 29 days long or 35?

I've read a bit online and the consensus seems to be to track CM, basal temp and do the deed every other day. I am guessing I will ovulate anywhere between 27th April and 6th May....but I would love some accuracy!!!

Sounds good that you are about to ovulate Chandlers. Good luck!

Boo April! But fab news you're already back to normal after the pill. That didn't seem to take very long?? Lucky girl! Am finding my slow return to normality incredibly dull! (As per my post on the BFP May thread) am now day 30 of cycle 2, although according to OPKs am about to ov! Wine Grin

April1984 · 24/04/2014 21:05

Boooo AF just arrived! Gutted but least means I am hopefully back to normal post pill. Not our month! Hmm

LadesC · 24/04/2014 12:51

That was my first sign patience so u never know. Didnt have the pmt but def had the light pink flow 4 days before af due as well as some tummy ache. Fingers crossed for u!Smile

patienceisvirtuous · 24/04/2014 07:33

Hi Scotty I would wait until nearer your due date to do an early test. I think this weekend is too early. Fingers x re your symptoms though.

I have myself half convinced I am having the infamous implantation bleed. Thought AF had arrived two days early yesterday but instead I've just had a very light pink flow which seems to have stopped now Confused. I have never had that before. Weird. It's usually full on AF coupled with strong cramps. Also, my boobs are killing and I've had raging pmt. Oh well, time will tell [shock-]

Hi this is my first month of TTC. Started reading this to work out if my signs could already mean a positive result.
I'm not sure if they are in my head or not!
Boobs are feeling painful to touch and much fuller, feeling sick (not taking that into account as it could be stress), completely knackered, head is all over the place and feeling bloated.
AF due bank hol weekend, this weekend too early to test?
SK x

patienceisvirtuous · 23/04/2014 17:05

You're very welcome to join Monkey

It's a roller-coaster isn't it?! Don't give up hope yet though - unless AF is here now?

I am finding it hard. I'm only onto month 2, but got AF today, 2 days early! Which has sent me into a mild panic wondering why!! I'm dead disappointed, but hey ho, on we go :( :)

Can I join the party?

I'm feeling a bit old, at 41 I'm aware that things are likely to take longer. I've been TTC since Xmas and this month I really thought it had happened. AF due today but nothing started, plenty of good dtd in the week before ovulation (pretty sure I detected it) but a negative test this morning. Now I'm fed up.

LadesC · 22/04/2014 18:41

Thanks everyone. Lets hope it sticks. Hoping to hear some similar tales from you all very soon. Think i have the clearblue dual hormone detector thingy to thank as I was prob concentrating my dtd several days too early the previous month.

April1984 · 22/04/2014 14:36

Hi chandlers. I am starting to wonder whether the opk was a false positive! Will have to wait and see! I thought I was so chilled out and relaxed about starting but it was only after I came off the pill I realized it can take a while, hopefully not too long. I guess when you make the decision to have a baby you kind of want to be preggars immediately! Good luck to you too, sounds like your having long cycles and I'm thinking I could still be the same. It's definitely a waiting game! Confused

ChandlersFarang · 22/04/2014 12:09

Hi April1984! I don't think it's too late.. I think some of us are in here for the long haul... Ha ha! That's amazing you ovulated so fast...!! My first cycle was 98 days after coming off ovranette, which I was also on for 10 years. I think I might have ovulated around day 60-70 as had a load of weird symptoms (which I totally put down to being pg!). Am now on day 26 of cycle#2 and no sign of o yet! Fingers crossed for u... Grin

April1984 · 22/04/2014 10:16

Hi hope it's ok to join!

I stopped the pill (Yasmin) 4 pills in at the end of March. I have had so much cramping etc since that I have convinced myself I may be pregnant (wishful thinking!). I got a BFN yesterday which I think was 10 days dpo so a bit early. I have been obsessing about symptoms, after being on the pill around 10 years I think my hormones are crazy! I had a positive ovulation test two weeks after coming off pill, does anyone know if this could be wrong? I didn't expect to ovulate so quickly. AF is due on Friday!

ChandlersFarang · 22/04/2014 10:08

Sorry for the delay replying, I got locked out after that password fraud reset thing and couldn't get back in!! Lol!! Massive congrats to Lades!! Fingers crossed for the rest of us. Imaptientlywaiting14 - oops yes I meant it took 3 months for AF to turn up! These accronyms... Wink
LK265, BrickPhone & thamrin - I can't believe there are/have been other mumsnetters so far away from the UK! That's very heartening!! I have to travel a lot with work and we do a lot in our free time as well, which has been great, but made using the CBM very tricky as it's pretty fussy about when you can test. Is anyone else using one? My cycle is way too long this time again, and the machine basically got bored waiting for me to ovulate this morning so has stopped asking me to do the tests!! Ha ha. Back to basics in the meantime (natural signs and lots of BDing...!!). Finding the time it's taking to get my body back to normal really boring!! Have only ovulated (sure there's an accronym for that?!) once since coming off the pill at Xmas, waiting for the second one basically. Yawn!! Wink
