I've been getting lots of pregnancy type symptoms. I'm due for my period tomorrow, just taken a first response test and got a BFN :( do I need to just accept that this isn't our month or do you ladies think there still might be that little bit of hope that I could still get a BFP?

Monkeybubbles1 · 05/03/2014 23:07

You can get first respone 2pk tests on amazon for £6.

ZoBo1234 · 05/03/2014 20:26

Good luck hun. Let me know what it says!!! I bought a 2 pk first response.....used one yesterday saving the other one and will test in a few days (if I can wait that long) they are just so expensive aren't they! Hope you get your BFP in the morning :)

I've been using 1st response. Last test tomorrow with clear blue tho was saving for a 100% yes but all I have in. After that off to the doctors to see what's happening :)

I think FRER are the best!

In my first pregnancy i tested with a digital first which clearly said pregnany the day af was due. Dh being a bit of a twat kept saying i should do another test, Hmm so i did a superdrug test the line was so faint if i had not seen the other test saying pregnant i would have thought it was a BFN. Pregnancy ended in a mmc!

January this year, spur of the moment tested with a cheapy from Wilko's 4 days before Af was due, was not sure if there was a line, i had no reason to believe i was pregnant, we weren't actually ttc. Took the test with me on the drive to work, was there a line, wasn't there. Next day i tested with a FRER, a faint but very clear line was there, could not believe it!

Please use FRER or Answer which is almost identical to FRER but cheaper, they will give you the correct answer.

Sorry to hear all those the who are getting BFN's or are getting Af :(

Good luck

Missmc14 · 05/03/2014 16:32

Don't take a test that's exactly how I was feeling try wait till 5-7 days late.
Although just took another n BFN again :/

ZoBo1234 · 05/03/2014 15:54

Thanks for all your reassurance ladies, good to know I'm not alone and there are others in same boat. No sign of period. I have an odd taste in my mouth and my boobs are extremely sore and veiny!!! Fingers crossed I'm going to get my BFP in next few days!!! Going to try not to take everyday and wait until next week to test unless period arrives.

Seems a lot of people don't get their BFP until a few days after missed period no matter what tests they use.

Good luck, fingers crossed for you. Please let me know how you get on!! :)

Well I got home today n was sick terrible. Looked at morning test as you do. Lol there's a line.... Could be from sitting all day so off to get some more n take another one. So 6 days late n possibly a positive now gonna get hopes up too much tho!!

Bangonthedoor · 05/03/2014 14:59

How are you getting on zobo? AF due today for me too but no sign just yet.

With DD I tested day after AF due and BFN, I didn't get BFP until AF was 4 days late. Keep telling myself this!

You're never out until AF arrives Smile

Lovethebubbles · 05/03/2014 14:34

On the day my period was due my first test was BFN and a week later when I tried again it was BFP. My cycles were regular and I used a first response test. Hope in a few days you get the result you are hoping for Smile

Iona1651 · 05/03/2014 14:30

Hi ZoBo - Apparently Superdrug own brand ones are good at detecting low levels of HCG and are a lot cheaper than Clearblue etc. I got mine on offer. Can't remember the HCG level but I think it tells you on the packet. Fingers crossed for you x

Monkeybubbles1 · 05/03/2014 11:44

I didn't need to test this morning, af reared her ugly head this morning so that's me out of the game. It's incredibly frustrating. Good luck. It's quite annoying because I caught first cycle in dec/ jan. I wasn't even trying properly then and now I am I'm not getting anywhere with it. Back to not trying this cycle I think. I really didn't want a December baby as it's so close to Xmas but knowing my luck this will be the month I catch haha. Good luck Zobo I hope you get you BFP.

ZoBo1234 · 05/03/2014 08:52

katniss I must admit I'm not sure when I ovulated, we have just being doing the deed alot throughout the month so all possibilitys were covered. We have been trying for 6 months, I caught straight away with first baby. Had lots of tests and doctor said just gotta keep in trying as my lady bits are in full working order and there aren't any problems. This month is different to all the other months. I actually 'feel' pregnant this time and with all the symptoms, my boobs are the biggest indicator and feeling very nauseous alongside everything else I'm really hoping I get my BFP very soon. Is there a particular test you would recommend as have heard some are really rubbish?!

Katnisscupcake · 05/03/2014 08:47

Zobo and monkeybubbles, it might be that you OVd later (unless you know you didn't) because I ALWAYS OV on CD14-15 but this month, randomly, not until CD20!!!

Fx for you both.

ZoBo1234 · 05/03/2014 08:36

Good luck monkeybubbles hope you get your BFP

missmc I'm sorry to hear that, are you going to book a drs appt?

I'm always very impatient, did yet another eBay test this morning and it was negative. But still not giving up hope until period arrives. I'm only due on today so time yet!

OP posts:
Missmc14 · 05/03/2014 07:09

Still a negative for me.... Who knows what's going on with my body.... Sob sob

Monkeybubbles1 · 04/03/2014 22:35

I will be testing again tomorrow with FRER. I'm so impatient, was going to wait a bit longer but I really can't, I need to know!!

Missmc14 · 04/03/2014 20:59

Hi I'm now 5 days late n also got negative. I tried first response have a different brand now but don't know if to take or just go doctors knowing something isn't right.... :/
Hope you get you BFP

ZoBo1234 · 04/03/2014 18:27

This evening, boobs have become bigger and are stupidly veiny to the point they are bright blue and sticking out slightly. Mega hoping this is a sign that I'm gonna get my BFP in next few days!!

Cakecrumbsinmybra · 04/03/2014 13:58

I imagine that each persons levels of hormone are different and rise at different rates. I know it is frustrating but try not to think about it too much until AF is actually late and test again.

Monkeybubbles1 · 04/03/2014 13:03

I found the ebay cheapies are rubbish and have read some really bad reviews on them. I used them alongside clearblue plus and clearblue digital during first pregnancy in January. Clearblue both came up strong positive and absolutely nothing on the ebay "Nhs" strips.

ZoBo1234 · 04/03/2014 12:31

I have some eBay bought ones. They are also coming up negative. I only bought first response to see if I had a dodgy bulk (crazy I know)

I used eBay ones when had my first baby and I remember it was negative for days and then suddenly just come up positive but I can't remember when in my cycle it showed positive.

OP posts:
Twinkletron · 04/03/2014 12:27

You can buy test strips from eBay 10/20 for a couple of quid. They are the same ones that the hospital use so don't waste money on shop bought ones!! same with the ovulation (LH) strips Smile

Twinkletron · 04/03/2014 12:25

Even the first response early detection ones 'can' read 10 days before period due and not 'will' read. It is quite normal for there to be some level (

ZoBo1234 · 04/03/2014 11:47

Sunday and Monday I had two episodes of bloody discharge too, didn't know if that was possible implantation?
