We're are getting dangerously close to 1000 posts on the other bus so thought I would start another one. Will update stats in another post. Fingers Crossed for lots more BFPs Grin

Wow! That is a shocking present! Glad you can laugh about it I'm sure he intended well!!! Haha!

My DH would be rubbish at picking presents so I rarely get a surprise, he just asks what I want and then gets it to be on the safe side! Which I quite like as at least I get what I like....but a nice surprise would be good sometime!

Men are def from Mars..... haha!

KittyVonCatsington · 21/02/2014 11:04

This will make you laugh even more, barmy... three Christmasses ago, MiL bought each of her DiLs (there are three of us) Christmas Tree embossed Toilet Roll and Kitchen Paper. To make it even worse, we didn't even get our own full packets - she opened them up and split them between us before she wrapped them. We still laugh about it today!

Oh, it sounds like he really had good intentions and just didn't get it right this year. Perhaps you could assume he bought the aerial photos book to start planning a trip and see if he is too embarrassed to say it was instead of a trip. We're going to Eigg this summer, I think. Never been before but seen lovely photos and can't wait.

Hope the cake is nice, at least!

barmybunting · 21/02/2014 10:43

I'm sorry to appear again with another message, I can't read back and type on my phone. But I had to, kitty, a saw?? That's hysterical! My best from MIL was a hair protection cap, those things our Granny would wear in the rain which tied under your chin. MIL gave me a pink one, it was awful!!

barmybunting · 21/02/2014 10:41

And what on earth is up with so many of us having bfns this month with no af appearing?? I wonder if, as you say cineraria, there is something in the water!

I hope you all get some answer soon, you must be going mad! treacle glad you got to the Dr yesterday, I hope that bfp shows up soon for you!

barmybunting · 21/02/2014 10:33

Thanks everyone! Cineraria, the course is two days, I can't even escape with only one!! I have no idea what he was thinking, daft man! I am finding it very funny to be honest.

I have found the other part of his present since he left... I went downstairs to find two big books wrapped up next to a cake. One of the books is a car maintainance instruction book, the other is a book of aerial photos of Scottish islands "because I love them and want to visit more" he has written inside it. We have just moved to England from Scotland, and I really didn't want to move as I absolutely loved the landscapes and countryside of where we lived. I have been trying to get DH to the Isles of Lewis and Harris for years. Why oh why does he think this book is a good plan when I'm missing Scotland dreadfully!? He really has made me laugh today because I have no idea what he was thinking, poor DH! He is so impressed with the car course as well!

It's his 30th in May, I may be booking him onto a sewing or knitting course for that I think!?! You have got a good idea there cineraria! Funny man!

Cineraria · 21/02/2014 10:23

I’ve been the quiet shy new girl this month but thought I’d post to say I’m following the trend here too: CD30/13DPO and no AF but BFN. My average cycle is 27 days but can be anywhere between 25 and 30, so not too puzzled yet, although this would already be my longest ever luteal period. How strange that so many are having the same thing. Are the government putting something in the water to keep us all busy puzzling over our symptoms while they release bad news like cutting maternity leave for those having babies in nine months’ time do you think?

If my DH bought me a car maintenance day for a present, Barmy, I’d book him straight onto a cooking course to show him what I thought of it (and in the hope that he might agree to swap!). Will you be plotting a revenge present? Hope you have a great day!

KittyVonCatsington · 21/02/2014 10:17

Happy Birthday barmy!!!! Thanks and Cake

MrsExtraOrdinary · 21/02/2014 10:00

Barmy that is hysterical! I hope he doesn't send you in a plumbing course next year! Confused

Happy birthday ThanksThanksThanks we need a cake button Biscuit?

KittyVonCatsington · 21/02/2014 09:49

Oh, barmy-that made me smile! You'll be dining out on that anecdote for years! Think that beats the time my MiL bought me a Saw for my birthday. Makes for a great story!

What is with all the BFNs at the moment??? Bought my FRER and have opened the box, but don't want to POAS yet (although probably will) Is there something in the water; with no AFs and no BFPs either?

OP posts:
Treaclepie19 · 21/02/2014 09:34

Haha aww barmy, bless him!

Sorry for all those joining me in limbo...
I just feel like sitting and crying. No sign of af and an endless amount of BFN's.

barmybunting · 21/02/2014 09:26

Oh goodness ladies, I am not quite sure how to type this without laughing! It's my birthday today, I woke up feeling a bit Sad as I was sure I would be pregnant by now when I came off the pill shortly after my birthday last year. But anyway, I'm lucky to have my parents visiting today and DH is home for my birthday for the first time in 5 years as he has been deployed for the last 4 years over Valentine's day and my birthdays. DH had told me to make sure I was free on a specific weekend in a few weeks time, so I was hopeful he might be planning some time together as we've been struggling to spend decent time together with work recently. Well, I opened on present from him this morning, and we are not doing something nice together that weekend, he has booked me on a course to learn about car maintainance for my birthday!! I hate cars! Grin He said I had always said I needed to learn more as I've had some interesting car problems when he's been deployed. Those problems have been my car engine going on fire and flames coming out of the bonnet as I drove on a motorway at midnight, 400miles from home, and a car accident in which someone drove into my car sideways at 40mph in a 30zone, and hit me so hard my car I was pushed across the other side of the road onto the pavement. No amount of car maintainance would have avoided those situations!! I can only laugh really, DH is normally brilliant with presents and he was so pleased with this idea Smile . If you see a mad woman on a car maintainance course in a few weeks, muttering and wearing a birthday badge, it'll be me!

DH then told me the roof was leaking from the loft, could I phone a plumber? So I am waiting for the plumber now and he's gone to work. What a start to the day!

On another side, I'm still getting flashing smileys on the clearblue opks on cd24 today, getting fed up of waiting! Does anyone not get a peak on these, only highs for a few days then back to lows?

katecupoftea · 21/02/2014 09:19

Poas for the first time this morning. Bfn obvs (February bus trend). I shouldn't be surprised as I tested early, have no symptoms and think I missed ov but still couldn't help feeling really disappointed...

Hazelbrowneyes · 21/02/2014 09:13

Hi all, sorry for the BFNs. Let's hope they turn into BFPs soon!

Quick (probably stupid) question - I'm in the 2ww. I have a cold and sore throat...can I take anything like lemsip or beechams?

MrsExtraOrdinary · 21/02/2014 09:13

I'm in limbo too! Although not unusual for me to have a late one every now and then. 3 days late today. I'm not doing any more tests until next week as im sure af is on the way! I think she's scared to come out at half term knowing even a 5 minute sit down this week is impossible! ShockClever really! Grin

CursiveLetters · 21/02/2014 09:10

I too am in late period but BFN limbo! Not feeling discouraged yet tho as I still don't feel AF coming on. Will just keep testing each morning. (Does first morning wee really make a diff??)

CagedMango · 21/02/2014 09:09

Oh no owlie. How many dpo are you?

CagedMango · 21/02/2014 09:07

It looks like I've got good company being in limbo then treacle and knotty.

I use the Internet cheapie opk. It's just a strip that you dip. I think I got 50 of them for about £7 or £8 (eBay). They have lasted about 4 cycles (and I gave a load to a friend) and I've got enough for at least one more cycle. I think they are a great investment and I'm a fan of preseed too.

Owlie84 · 21/02/2014 09:01

BFN here too! Bah :(

Sorry everyone else with a BFN, it's so upsetting!

Knottyknitter · 21/02/2014 08:57

Bfn here too, but no AF. At least I can pick up some decent cold caps when I head out later. Will bite the bullet and get ov tests for March, too. Do I need the monitor or not? What sort are you all using?

Treaclepie19 · 21/02/2014 08:40

Thanks mango
Still nothing, bfn. Really hoping my period isnt just going to skip a month... Not that it ever has before.

Having more symptoms but probably all in my head.

CagedMango · 21/02/2014 08:19

Morning! Well I got another bfn on an ic this morning so that puts me in limbo. Might use my frer tomorrow but will be really upset if it is negative and I've been saving it for when I get a positive on an ic. This is the first month when I've actually felt I might be and I'll be so sad if I'm not. And I've only got 5 ic left! Ho hum. Nothing on the opk either.

treacle how are you getting on? I've got my fingers crossed for you.

missmrs have you tired yoga for stress? I don't want to try to teach you how to suck eggs but it really helps me and has got me through some really stressful times (and helps me cope with my stress in general). It's important to get the breathing right and there are loads of free classes online. I find this helps too-I've described you all as my self help group to DH Smile

KittyVonCatsington · 21/02/2014 08:13

Well today is AF due day-no sign...yet. I am just too scared to POAS though. Not sure if I can face another BFN. Think I might buy a FRER today and test tomorrow if AF stays away. I only have ClearBlues at home and worried they might not be sensitive enough. It would be easier if it wasn't Half Term. Help me take my mind off it today ladies!!!

Speaking of others' babies, went to babysit my SiLs two boys-one 2 yr old and one about 6 months, last night. They are just gorgeous! Managed to get my baby nephew back to sleep as well so felt pleased I wasn't totally useless with little ones (it has been a while since I have looked after my sister's two and techniques are easy to forget). Instead of feeling jealous though, which I was worried I might, I just couldn't get over how cute they were and kept thinking "I want one!". Might be because they are my family though. Not sure how I would feel if my best friend announced she was pregnant...it's am up and down time TTC isn't it?!

OP posts:
EnglishGirlAbroad · 21/02/2014 07:54

I know how hard it is MissMrs when you're off and your whole focus is on a baby. I'm living in a different country with no friends and only a part time job. I have far too much time on my hands. I think the reality is that there's very little we can do beside DTD, our bodies have to do the rest.
I'm healthy, I eat well, I exercise so in theory it should happen soon enough.

MrsExtraOrdinary · 21/02/2014 07:48

Missmrs that must be extra hard having to meet up with babies! I think I'm feeling for you as I remember it being so all consuming before for me. I worked from home so I had too much time on my own and think I was sending myself slowly around the twist. Please don't think Im being callous, I know stress isn't a thing you can always switch off. I'm very capable of being a complete stress head riddled with anxiety. But when I get bogged down in whatever it is I find it helpful to change the routine of the day, break the cycle of how I think. That probably doesn't make any sense but perhaps if you've got some more time off and your feeling up to it, change the patterns of being at home. Sometimes it's all too easy to over think. None of us ever know how long this ride will be.
