To keep this thread going, proving support to all of those of a 'riper vintage' wishing for a baby...

I have received so much help, advice and support here, so although I technically have graduated, I thought I'd get the next thread going to keep the momentum.

Yea Morien congratulations to you & all your family xx

Morien · 24/02/2014 19:42

Our wonderful little girl was born yesterday morning, weighing just over 4kg (8.9lbs)SmileSmileSmile Despite a fairly difficult labour and birth (for both of us) we're both doing absolutely fine and I'm hoping we'll be off home tomorrow. More details from there, where the internet works better than at the hospital!

lindamagoo · 24/02/2014 16:57

Thank you jass, I figured it might take a while for things to settle but wasn't expecting the sore boobs. It's driving me mad. Role on my first af so we can get ttc properly under way Smile

jass43 · 24/02/2014 16:52

i came off cerazette some time 3 and more years ago, and it took 6 weeks for the cycle to reappear, half of the time i was conicnced i was pg already, with all the sore boobs/weird discharge etc thing. So yes, what you are feeling linda can very much be affected by coming off the pill.

welcome minibmw. how is that for short - mini or rather bmw? :-)))

lindamagoo · 24/02/2014 13:52

Have any of you lovely ladies had any experience coming off the mini pill? I took my last pill on valentines day and for the past couple of days I've felt really sick and got very sore boobs, almost like pregnancy symptoms, could it be my body just settling back down? x

minibmw2010 · 24/02/2014 10:23

Hello everyone, I hope it's OK if I join in? I'm 41, have a lovely DS who is almost 3 and we are just starting on our IVF journey (DS was an IVF too due to low sperm mobility). We've finally got the money together and I'm praying it's not too late for us. Good luck to everyone x

Tadpole2013 · 24/02/2014 08:38

Thank you very much, every one for the support.
On Saturday I bought a bottle of my favourite red and had a delicious glass. DP had a bit with me and we 'prosted' our little one.
I'm very touched by seeing how affected he is. He told me about the day of the mc. What he was doing when my phone call came. (He was 1.5hrs away working.)

JBrd I know what you mean about the Royal baby. And just generally everyone having babies. I would have been 'bump buddies' with a woman at work who now has her beautiful twins.

On the positive I now have people to take over renting my flat so that I can start packing. That should take my mind off ttc.

I'm not going to give up just yet, but I think maybe I won't leave a room for the nursery either. I would hate to have to change it should it not work out in the end.

Morien Hope all's well!

Happy Monday!

JBrd · 23/02/2014 21:55

tadpole I hope you've managed to have a nice weekend, in spite of your EDD.
These are incredibly difficult dates, and no one will ever understand who has not had a similar experience. I have never said anything to DH, as I don't think that he would understand... And I would struggle to make him see why it affects me so much. I found all 3 of mine very hard, even more as in all cases, there was someone close giving birth (well, the Royal baby isn't technically close to me, but it was everywhere, there was no escape), friends who would have been my 'bump buddies'...
I have not done anything on any of the days, but over the course of last year, I bought a beautiful rose for the garden and a charm for my bracelet, shaped like an angel's wing. Everyone is different, but I found comfort in these things.

Oh JBrd!! Right there. That is exactly what I needed. Happy. Happy. Happy for you. Thanks
Going to enjoy my tea and sofa-surf with a smug smile on my face! Grin

isadorable · 23/02/2014 12:22

Just to say hello Green, i hope Prof Regan can offer you some help. It was Tina who had twin girls with DE. Isabeller must be due or have had her baby by now too. i haven't heard from her I'm afraid. We decided we wouldn't use to donor eggs as we already have dd but I think it is a really interesting idea if you want to start a family in your 40s as IVF stats are terrible with your own eggs and natural conception is, well you know better than anyone what a cruel lottery it can be.

Willitbe - I'm so sorry it didn't work out for you.

JBrd - delighted it is all going well.

Morien - any news??

AFM - I'm off to do some gardening! Happy sunday to all.

jass43 · 23/02/2014 11:52

attitude comes from having my 4yo running around me while I try to watch olympic games. I have him and others, so it just is not the matter of life and death. i am not entitled to moaning, so, I do not. Latvia just got silver in bobsleigh, yay for sothern neighbors!

Inshock73 · 23/02/2014 11:16

oops I posted too soon! I meant to finish off by saying fingers crossed the test delivers a different result for you tomorrow!

Inshock73 · 23/02/2014 11:15

Jass - I love your positivity! :) I've been told I need to reduce my stress levels, I need to adopt your attitude!

jass43 · 23/02/2014 11:03

JBrd, well done! and an explanation to spotting, thatcis a relief as well. take it as easy as possible to not escalate the hematoma thing and it should soon reabsorb!

Basia, as you can see, here are many women who manage to concieve two or more tims a year, despite being well over 49. These falling fertility statistics are apparantely rather old, some say they are based on french church register from 19th century. also, chances to conceive if actively trying and tracking cycle must go up, since you cann ot fail to dtd at the right time.

grizzer, re spotting after accu, I had similar experience several times that it made me spot at wrong times. Since reading up on subject I realise tou can not mechanically stick needles in points related to fertility, you need to take anamnesis first (this dampness, heat/ cold uterus etc thing). I read up Randine lewis on using traditional chinese medcine and came to conclusion doing just accu may be making you worse, if your specialist does not even attempt first to understand what is your chinese-medcine diagnosis. I now instead do accupressure on points which fit my issues, and its free,as i can do it myself.
I am 9DPO, no spotting, this indicates b6 and vitex do wonders with my Luteal phase. afraid no pg this month as tested today and neg. I know it is too early but often when bfp is coming at 9dpo i get a late shadow of a line, like couple of hours after testing. Today, nothing. Glaring bfn. Well, goof preparation for "official test day" tomorrow.

Inshock73 · 23/02/2014 10:20

Wow so much news since I last popped on a couple of weeks ago!

Welcome to all the new people on here!

Willitbe - So sorry to hear your news.
JBrd - Congratulations that's such wonderful news and gives hope to the rest of us.
Basia2 - I'm also on the 2ww. This is month 7 of ttc for me after a mmc last year. Lets hope it's our month and everyone else's!

basia2 · 23/02/2014 02:30

One more week to wait... rather discouraged to read that at my age, the odds of conception are only 5% per cycle.
I know I do not have the stamina to go through this month after month for the next couple of YEARS.
I am not going to try more than another two or three cycles. I already have three children, and will just be satisfied with that, if I don't conceive soon.
I never realized the odds were so bleak. :(
I feel a little silly for imagining it might happen this month, my very first month of trying.
It's just that I have always conceived easily in the past, even at 39.
Apparently there's a big difference between 39 and 41, though, even if I don't feel much different. The odds of conception apparently drop from 10% per cycle to 5% per cycle, in just those two years... So discouraging. :(

notsoold · 22/02/2014 23:14

Jbrd...wonderful news and I am celebrating with you!!! Wow!!!! Xxxx

Tadpole.... I struggle with my lo ( lost to us in a mmc) due date. We ackowledge the baby life in our hearts and I spend some time reflecting...the pain does not go away but for me it got easier....thinking of you...xxx

hopefulgum · 22/02/2014 23:13

jbrd, I am so pleased to hear that all is well! Hurray!

Tadpole, thinking of you. I know how heartbreaking the EDD can be.I do hope you will have a babe or pregnancy before the edd rolls around again next year. Light a candle for your little one. The dream your DP had is heart-wrenching. I often dream about my lost babies, and personally believe that they aren't gone forever. I like to think they will find their way to us eventually, perhaps through me, but maybe as a grandchild/niece/nephew.

I can't wait to hear if Morien's little one has decided to come.

AFM, I am so busy with work and life that I am not thinking too much about babies. I still have that feeling of sadness/envy when I see a pregnant woman or new baby, but I can't imagine being pregnant right now as I would find it very difficult. However, not ttc has given my sex-life the death noll. Poor DH is wondering what's wrong with me! I have lost the drive now that I am not trying to catch an egg. I guess there's not the same incentive, and I like that I am off the hook, so to speak.

I am definitely not in my 20's and feeling it. Just working and living is wearing me out!

Grizzer · 22/02/2014 17:14

Yea JBrd fab news. So happy for you xx
Tadpole hope you're ok. Interesting re dh's dream, I always think these things have significance - unfortunately I never know what that significance is!
Jass hope you get the result you want on Monday but enjoy that drink if not.
I'm coming up to ovulation in the next few days & dh has been out drinking last night & today (rugby!) bit peeved he might be reducing the quality of sperm! Humph.

pancakedayiscoming · 22/02/2014 13:14

Wow Jbrd, I've seen your posts over the years, am thrilled for you!

I wanted to ask whether anyone here has experience of the Agora Clinic in Hove? I'm wondering about whether to seek out some help as time is ticking, but I find the internet data confusing about success rates.

diege · 22/02/2014 13:10

Checking in to see if jbrd had posted and what wonderful news Grin Grin Grin You must be so relieved and happy Thanks. How many weeks are you now?
tadpole hope you're ok - due dates are very very hard. My mmc at 10 weeks was a feb due date and I bought a lovely necklace that had the feb birth stone on it. Thinking of you xxx

JBrd · 22/02/2014 13:00

I can't believe I'm saying this - all went well! One baby in there, heartbeat, and measuring bang on. Relief doesn't even come close right now, I am so happy!
I know I'm not completely in the clear just yet (and there is a small bleed under the sac - but the sonographer did not seem too concerned with this), but it's a milestone I did not reach with any of my miscarriages, so I am celebrating Smile

Tadpole, so sorry. maybe it means they are somewhere after all and hence can return to ourd reams (an ateist rationalist speakin' here, bthw). gorget the AMH - many have demonstrated it means nothing. You stressing about it on the other hand means anything. And being depressed in your situation is so natural that no amount of progesterone flowing around in your body (apart from the kind produced by corpus luteum supporting a new pg) would drag you out of it this week. Good the proge gets tested though.

JBrd, how are you doing?
Morien, climbing up and down the stairs (you do have a ridiculous central europeanh ouse with at least 5 flights of stairs and small room on every floor, I hope:-)) is supposed to help. or throw down a box of matches and pick them up one by one, squatting anew for every match?

I am 8DPO with sore breasts. But since progesterone supplementing it can easily be that. Will test on Monday as national day coming up and if neg I am going to drink all i have avoided drinking during 2ww. i do not know why i avoided this time, normally i do not bother anymore....

Tadpole2013 · 22/02/2014 08:46

So. It's here. My little Tadpole's EDD.
I didn't tell DP about the exact date, just February.
This morning he woke up and told me he dreamt we had a six-month old who was crawling wildly and he had to explain to him that he can't jump out of the window. That that would kill him.
I only told him later that today is the EDD. Poor kid, didn't jump out of a window but did leave the uterus 7.5 months to early. Same difference, I suppose.

green I have an GP appointment in 3 weeks and I'm going to ask her to test my progesterone.
My therapist says low levels could also be causing my lack of appetite, sleeplessness and general depressive moods.
(I thought, lady, I'm depressed because I miss my baby who would have surely been born already and I just found out that my egg reserve neglectable!).

AF arrived on Thursday and is ridiculously painful. Like she really wants to remind me that there is NO baby in there.

willitbe xxxx

JBrd Hope all's well. Could really use some good news today.

Morien How's bebe? I was thinking of your MIL and remembered what my Gran always said. There's no fool like an old fool.

I'm off to work on the house. Hoping we can move it in a few weeks and not have all this driving anymore.

Enjoy your day, ladies!
xxx
