To keep this thread going, proving support to all of those of a 'riper vintage' wishing for a baby...

I have received so much help, advice and support here, so although I technically have graduated, I thought I'd get the next thread going to keep the momentum.

I had a very slight panic when I read your post, Jass. Are you going to stop ttc when your daughter gives birth?
As my own dd is 22, and thankfully very much into her studies, it is also a conversation we had to have when we decided to ttc.
Good luck and don't throw them tools out just yet!

Hello everyone and happy Monday!

jass43 · 02/03/2014 20:50

My daughter said they are soon going to ttc. It had a weirdly calming effect on me. there will be a baby in the family within a year, I believe! felt the urge to throw out all my ttc tools, but probably i will feel different when ov approaches, so no hurry with all that. Anyway, the active torture is certainly over for me! i trust She will haveno issues, as i never did when young and she is 25. she Wants to have kids while doing doctorate studies, not later when working full time.

Grizzer · 28/02/2014 20:56

Woo hoo it's Friday night!! I'm enjoying grand designs, milk tray & peppermint tea. Had 2 very long parents' evenings this week so I'll be in bed by 9 I think!
I had my appointment at a private clinic. I paid £200 for half an hour where she told me my only option was ivf. Basically if everything was ok I would be pregnant by now.
We aren't going down the ivf route so it was a waste of time really. Not sure what I wanted out of it but I hoped there was a little something that might help.
I've just finished ovulation (I think) but am determined to try to continue dtd every 2 or 3 days for the rest of the month. Feel I should do it tonight as we didn't last night but I really can't be bothered. Pretty sure dh feels the same but I'm wondering if maybe we stop too early each month. We dtd in the run up to the smiley face, during it & the day after getting it but then stop for a week to recover! I want to try to muster up some enthusiasm for a couple more days after ov just in case.....
JBrd sorry about fraud. It's so flippin wrong when we get caught like that. Saw on the news this morning about people who have lost quarter of a million through fraudsters - outrageous.
Hopeful that would be the perfect 'accident' if it happens when you're not officially TTC. dh and I have decided to stop in the summer but I can see me looking for signs and suddenly feeling frisky!!
Sorry AF came Fiat hope you enjoyed the wine.
Is anyone watching the new series of One Born Every Minute? It breaks my heart but I can't resist watching. I love it!!

Oh gum.... Wink
You are a junkie! A when-do-the-egg-meet-sperm-junkie! Grin
I saw the baby at 46 thread and was reading up, actually. I was considering posting but haven't decided to.

JBrd hun, very wide Grin

Well, don't know what this month has in store. Have a UTI and the doctor told me today that there is actually no proof of Antibiotics helping faster than lots of water and tea, if its not acute. Hmmmm.

jass43 · 28/02/2014 15:26

JBrd, I would definitely go for harmony. It is worth having the peace of mind that all is OK.

hopefulgum · 27/02/2014 22:49

P.S. there is a thread on Am I being unreasonable about a mumsnetter whose mum wants to ttc at 46. Some vastly varying opinions there...however, also some nice stories of women having babies in their mid to late 40's too. I put in my two cents worth. Couldn't help myself Grin

hopefulgum · 27/02/2014 22:48

Jbrd, 8+4; fantastic. And feeling poorly is a wonderful sign I think. Sorry to hear about the fraud.God, how bloody annoying. I recently "bought" a couple of items from someone on ebay, which were never sent, and although it took a few weeks, all the money was paid back to me. Paypal are usually very good in those situations.

I would go for the harmony, if I were pregnant. But TBH,I don't even know how available it is in Australia, and I have a sneaking suspicion that it might be about $1000. So, I am not sure I'd be able to afford it anyway. But then again, I think amnio would be quite expensive anyway.

Has anyone heard from Mozza? I wonder how her pregnancy is progressing?

Fiatlux, though you are out this month, it doesn't mean your Dr is right. Drs are not God. They don't really know everything. They just want us to think they do. Wink Your perfect egg/sperm combo may be just around the corner...

diege · 27/02/2014 21:35

jbrd as you may remember I had the harmony done at the FMC and can't praise the place enough - def worth the money but then I did get it for under £200 as part of super duper deal at the time. Feel free to message me if you need any advice, but also check out the harmony thread on antenatal tests/choices thread Smile. Sorry to hear about fraud Sad and really hope it can be sorted xx
Sorry fiatlux for af Sad Wine

fiatlux · 27/02/2014 20:36

I'm out for the month too :(
Damn doctor was right after all.

Glass of Wine time now!

greenlizard · 27/02/2014 17:13

Ps. jbrd bad news about the fraud - that really sucks Angry. I had my card cloned once but to be fair the bank were very supportive and sorted it out quite quickly. Hope you get your money back.

greenlizard · 27/02/2014 17:11

jbrd when I was looking at the harmony test first time round - I had an appointment at the Fetal Medicine centre in Harley street which was £400. It was much more expensive elsewhere. It would be easy for me to get there though and I am not sure where you are located. the price is lower because it is part of a trial so you have to go at 10-10+6 to qualify. definitely worth a look? Smile

loving the nonchalant attitude gum - TTC moi? Grin

JBrd · 27/02/2014 16:42

Hehe, gum incurable indeed Grin

8+4 today, feeling incredibly tired and sick - I am constantly having to eat to combat the sickness! At this rate, my work colleagues will soon figure out what's going on. I already have a secret food stash in my desk.
Currently debating if I should have the Harmony test... It just sounds so good, and timing would be great, as it would break up the wait until the 12-week scan nicely. But it is so expensive... I have just been conned for about £300 by a fraud transaction on eBay/PayPal, and they are still disputing if I'll get the money back Angry I really hope they will refund me, I have decided if I do get the money back, then I will put it towards the test.

p.s, girls....shh...it is ovulation time and I have been DTD.

Not keeping track, but can feel it. So although not ttc, I might just be heading towards a tww Grin Incurable, me!

hopefulgum · 26/02/2014 23:17

Ah, Morien, so pleased to hear that you have had your little girl and all is well! Thanks I bet you are experiencing the most lovely time, marveling at her tiny fingers and toes, her silky hair and beautiful soft skin. Oh, there's nothing like a beautiful new babe!

Wine Congratulations! Wine Enjoy these early days, its such an amazing and wonderful time. Thanks

Tadpole2013 · 26/02/2014 09:08

Whoop whoop hurray!! Herzlichen Glückwunsch, Morien!! Congratulations! Thanks Thanks Thanks May light shine on the little one's path and may your family be blessed!

Jass I'm with Grizzer on the airport chase! OMG, just the funniest thing!

Grizzer If you're lucky this will be her tattoo phase - full stop! My dd went through the strangest phases but has been the most grown up, proper person I've ever known. Since age 10 (which has always been rather terrifying!).

Sorry basia I'm still on a week after. Very, very unusual. Not overtly (no pads or tampons). Hope it doesn't mean yet another bad thing.

Going to have a lovely piece of cake to celebrate our new arrival! Grin

basia2 · 26/02/2014 03:20

Grrr! I'm out for the month, ladies. :(

Grizzer · 25/02/2014 21:59

Jass I am picturing the scene of the dr chasing a heavily pregnant woman through the airport wielding that knife. Strangely enough I'm hearing Benny Hill music in my head....
So my not quite 4 yr old dd wants earrings and a Super Girl tattoo. I worry for the teenage years!

jass43 · 25/02/2014 15:37

Morien, you went to 42 weeks, and gave birth (without induction) to a 4kg baby in a country where normal procedures foresee convincing people 4kgs only come out by c? i am standing up in your honor (having done a run for safer place to give birth to my own 4,6 kg last time, narrowly escaping a doc waving a knife at me in the airport:-) and looking forward to the full story. and i envy you your doctor!

greenlizard · 25/02/2014 14:28

jbrd am quietly thrilled for you too you must be feeling such relief you are over such a tricky milestone. SmileSmile xx

greenlizard · 25/02/2014 14:26

Huarry!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations Morien I am so thrilled for you, Mr Morien and Little miss morien (although 8.9lb ain't so little Grin)

sparklysapphire · 25/02/2014 14:19

Morien, congratulations on your beautiful DD, glad you are both doing ok.

JBrd, what excellent news for you, here's hoping all continues to be well.

Sorry for yet another loss willitbe, sounds like you are doing what you need to to cope.

Hi to all, hang in there, it is possible. I hope I don't sound patronising, but it seems to me (& this is just my perception) that the success rate for take home babies on this thread is rather higher than statistics would suggest - I know we are a self-selected lot and that, but even so...

diege · 25/02/2014 12:51

Many congratualtions morien!!! Thanks Thanks Thanks Looking forward to hearing how it all went, and the name of your little one of course!

isadorable · 24/02/2014 22:11
