To keep this thread going, proving support to all of those of a 'riper vintage' wishing for a baby...

I have received so much help, advice and support here, so although I technically have graduated, I thought I'd get the next thread going to keep the momentum.

Hi linda I have not tried cough medicine but I do take evening primrose oil up to ovulation (1000mg - should I take more?) and we are using conceive plus around ovulation time as I figure a bit of extra help get the swimmers on their way can't hurt Smile. I don't really get EWCM more like very wet CM instead. Anyone take anything else?

greenlizard · 12/03/2014 07:42

jbrd how did you get on with at the harmony test /scan? Good news on the sickness!

Welcome mattsmama and annie - May your stay here be short and sweet! I didn't met my DP until I was 40 (second crack at the whip for both of us Grin)

Finally got all my results back from the miscarriage clinic - nothing wrong with me or DP that could indicate there is a cause for my miscarriages. I was a bit disappointed as I was hoping for an easily fixable issue but sadly they can't fix my age Sad. My cycles are still wonky after MC - 57 days the last one but I did finally ovulate so that's something. So I am having acupuncture again to try and regulate my cycles and back to weight watchers to try and shift this annoying 10lbs that is hanging around annoyingly reminding me I am middle aged Hmm

I am due another transvaginal scan when I can get to the clinic to see if any cysts are the culprit, the last one was clear but I have an ache in my groin which has been quite persistent so it's back for another check up. Cd11 here and we are back SWI in this hope that this month ovulation happens at a "normal" time!

I have started to investigate whether donor eggs might be the way forward for us...DP isn't that keen as he thinks we should just adopt but I would like to carry a baby through pregnancy if I can even if it can't be mine from a biological point of view. I think he needs a bit of time to come round to the idea and like a Canadian mounty I always get my man in the end Smile

lindamagoo · 12/03/2014 07:32

Hopeful that's fantastic news, I wish you all the best for a healthy, sticky bean Thanks

I've decided to give the cough medicine a go to see if it helps with cm, have any of you ladies tried it? x

Welcome Annie and sorry for your mmc. Hope the clomid does its trick!

Tadpole2013 · 10/03/2014 18:35

Hi and welcome, AnnieHoo!
So sorry about your loss.
Sometimes the right people don't come by till later. That just how that shit rolls. Grin

AnnieHoo · 10/03/2014 18:22

Can I join? This looks like the thread I need!

I'm 40, TTC#1. Trying for 20 months now. MMC in Nov 2012. On 3rd round of clomid. DH sperm test OK.

Just didn't meet the right guy until I was 37 Smile

jass43 · 10/03/2014 16:58

JBrd, all is certainly OK with that kind og morning sockness! i hope you will still have snow in switzerland (I am skiing from Fri to Wed as well, where I am going there is still 120cm).

mattsmama, i see. You similar to me then. Only I have had no luck on pred neither. can only take it from bfp as it takes my OV away if i try to take it from OV, maybe because of that. I fall pg all the time but hcg reaches 100-300 and then comes down again.

mozarella, how are you now? Where you do a scan these days?

JBrd · 10/03/2014 10:50

Good morning ladies, I hope you are all doing well! Just wanted to wave a quick hello, as you have been asking so nicely asking how I am!
10+1 today, and I can't help starting to become a bit more optimistic... Trying to resist, as so much still can go wrong, but I am still having lots of sickness (in bed with it all afternoon on Saturday). I've started to put on weigh because the only thing that helps is eating Confused
I'm going to have the Harmony test in London tomorrow, together with another 10 scan (part of their package). Will have to go alone, as DH has to pick up DS from nursery, but I'm feeling confident that I'll manage.
Then we're off to visit my mum in Switzerland later this week, which should be nice. The idea is to take DS skiing (or playing in the snow) for the first time, but with this nice weather, we might need a back-up plan...

Wishing you all lots of luck and BFPs!

[jass]. I've always been very lucky in conceiving more or less straight away but my very first preg ended in mc. Then my second pregnancy was ok however towards the every end I felt quite poorly and after my ds was born found out I had hypothyroidism. This was only picked up when he was 6 months old and to say I felt ill is an understatement. Didn't feel up to trying again for no 2 until 4 years later and unfortunately had another mc (again at 12/13 weeks) like my first mc. Then I kept getting pregnant quickly but kept having chemical pregnancies. I saw Dr S and was told I had high NKC and very high thyroid antibodies hence the pred. Very luckily got pregnant on first cycle under Dr S with my second DS who is now 2. I am blessed with two gorgeous sons xx

I kept having strange reactions over past 2 years that got more frequent - similar to allergic reaction (but not an actual allergy) where for no reason and very randomly and suddenly I would have severe diarrhoea and itchy urticaria all over my body which would last about 30 minutes -(absolutely awful) and for this reason Dr S put me on the Hydroxychloroquine this time as well as the pred.

jass43 · 09/03/2014 21:13

welcome mattsmama! Why are you on pred and under drS? Too many mc?

Grizzer, even I get thr "when will I have a little sister? " from my 4yo, never mind me pointing out to him he has a big sis and2 big brothers! they just seem to never be happy with our efforts. of course it is heartbreaking though, I have to admit. I hope you will fulfil her dream soon!

Linda, i would be also very optimistic with your history, why the hell not? Sure you will have another one soon!

My 4yo is OK, been out skating already today and a little walk, and managed a dtd yesterday. OPK still neg, so wait for it to indicate surge is coming. i am really going to be very economic, hopefully also effective this month eith this ttc business:-)

Tadpole2013 · 09/03/2014 14:07

Welcome, mattsmama!
I have to say my jaw dropped when I read you were successfull on the first try at 42! Wow!
Good luck and hopefully you won't be ttc for long this time around either!

Grizzer Had this conversation for so many years with dd. OMG.
Even now that she is an adult she still hopes to be a big sis.
At least now she knows how hard ttc is. And she is so supportive. It will be a longer road for you before dd understands, BUT hopefully it won't come to that!

Happy Sunday ladies! Off to the house again. Came at at 3am and am totally kaputt. But moving in on Saturday and we need at least two rooms finished.

lindamagoo · 09/03/2014 12:23

Hi ladies, hope you are all well. So af arrived on Friday (first since stopping pill) bang on my due date which I really wasn't expecting, thought my cycles would be messed up for a while. Not complaining though Smile And so I guess this is our first month actively ttc #3. Not expecting miracles as I'm almost 43 but had ds1 at 38 and ds2 at 40 so I know it's possible, just might take a while...

mattsmama · 09/03/2014 11:26

Hi ladies could I join you please? I am also on the prednisoline thread but I am aged 44 and have noticed your thread this morning. I am under Dr S in London for thyroid and NKC treatment with steroids and other meds. We are on cycle three of ttc no 3.

Hoping for that Bfp this month but seems to be taking longer this time! My last successful pregnancy was achieved on first month of trying and that was aged 42 - very lucky I know, so was kinda hoping for a lucky break again! I have had to strongly persuade my OH to try again and he has agreed albeit very reluctantly! He is worried about both our ages - he is a few years older than me and also worried about me with the medical issues etc. Think that is subconsciously affecting me as he has said he only wants a few tries and also I am worried about my age and even with all the medical issues I can't explain this urge to have another baby - it is so strong!

hopefulgum · 09/03/2014 00:22

Oh Grizzer...((hugs))That's hard. If only she could understand that you are trying so hard! My DS (5yrs) said to be yesterday,"I would like a little sister. No, brother...please?" I had to say, "that would be nice, but we are so happy to have you in our lives, and you do have older brothers and sisters to love".

It's hard when it is all you want too.

Mumalah, pleased to hear that AF finally turned up. Get ready for a shag-fast Grin

Grizzer · 08/03/2014 21:08

DDs 4th birthday yesterday. On waking up in the morning I went in to her room.
Me: wow you're 4 today - I think you've grown in the night.
DD: still not a big sister though.
gulp

mumalah · 08/03/2014 10:48

Aahh ! hopeful you turn up in my hour of need ! Thank you for looking at my chart ! I started spotting very slightly today so maybe Af making an appearance? Not even everytime I go to the loo! Its sooo frustrating!
Ha! went to bed without posting the above! Woke up to Af, finally after 60 days! Hallelujah !

Tadpole2013 · 08/03/2014 08:01

Hi wish I hope you're ok. I wouldn't necessary panick at such a tiny amount of spotting. The lady at work who was pg at the same time as me, bled from week 7-10. But everything turned out fine and she has the loveliest little one.

JBrd Hope you're ok, girl.

Mozz You feeling better?

Jass We're almost at the end of shag week. It has been the worst ever. I think doing that (Anti-Mullerian) test was a mistake because now in the back of my mind I keep thinking its not going to work anyway. And if I'm honest, I think I'm still trying for DP's sake. He is so optmistic it breaks my heart.
Oh well.
Hope your little one gets well soon!

Hello everyone!

xxx

jass43 · 07/03/2014 19:56

Hopeful, you really are as hopeless as we all!!!
my 4yo is sick and I feel low, and shag week is coming. need to find thr energy to do it. Sunshine is making mood worse. Weird:-)

hopefulgum · 07/03/2014 08:45

Hi mumalah, I had a look at your chart and I honestly can't tell what's going on, particularly as you've had + opks. Were they definitely +? Or close to? I wonder if for some reason your body has been gearing up to ovulate but the egg isn't being released, therefore no + preg test and no Af.

How frustrating for you.Confused Have you talked to a doctor about it? Perhaps have your progesterone levels looked at? The temperatures seem to suggest that you have ovulated, but by now you should have a + pregnancy test or AF. Have you ever used the service on Fertility friend where an expert looks at your chart? I can't remember where it is, perhaps in the forums? There are loads of people on Fertility friend with heaps of experience, perhaps they can help.

I am also wondering if you are interested in taking provera to jump start AF, then trying clomid? I think you may have used clomid before?

I feel for you as I know you just want to get on with ttc and getting pregnant. This bloody TTC business is full of frustrations and bumps in the road (instead of bumps on our bodies). Thanks

Mozza, ((hugs)), wow, I am sorry to hear that things are still very difficult for you. I would love to kick your DH up the bum quite frankly! I cannot believe he would consider taking your DD away soon after DD2 is born. WTF is he thinking? I know that you are both faced with an uncertain future, and you don't know how your new baby will be, but isn't that why he should be sticking around to support you?

If I were you I would certainly not allow him to have the passport.(In fact,I would be putting it in a safety deposit box or giving it to a family member for safe keeping) I fear that if you don't he may take DD1 and not return. I know it is important for DD1 to meet his family, but I am sure it can wait a bit longer.

Do you have family support nearby? I hope you do, or friends, as this must be a very difficult time for you. I am so sorry that you have to go through all this.

Jbrd, how are you feeling lovely? I do hope you are having strong symptoms.

AFM, I think I may be about 7 DPO. I have had the usual bag of symptoms, some of them have me a wee bit hopeful, but I keep reminding myself that it is unlikely and I've been through this before to no avail.

Good news is the diet is working, and I am the lowest weight for about ten years. I am pleased with that, but I have a ways to go to be at ideal weight. And if I had to put on weight while gestating...that would be fine! Grin

jass43 · 05/03/2014 21:05

agnus castus is regulatinf the hormones both in the beginning snd the end if cycle, by balancing them. if you just take progesterone in LP, it boosts just that hormone and changes estrogen/progesterone balance, but it does not affect theamount of estrogen. older women tend to have too high e/p ratio, so progesterone helps with that. AC on the other hand will also help, but at natural levels - better ratio is achieved by lowering estrogen and rising progesteron, but all that close or at your natural levels. that is the theory, as i understand it. that is why it helps with many fertility issues - it just balances. On the other hand, regular cycle does not automatically mean a balanced cycle - have it reg, but short LP also regularily:-) So i went for ac to prolong LP, either by delayong AF or moving ov ahead a bit. it seems to have done both - Ov ahead by a day nad cycle length improved by 1-2 days as well. all together, 3 day more of LP for me. and no spotting before AF. Looks like it does have varid, balanced effect.

wishingfor · 05/03/2014 20:43

Hi tadpole I'm around 5weeks ish, don't know for sure. Agnus castus is reported to have a lot of fertility benefits, I was using it to try and regulate my cycle, and balance my hormones, there's quite a lot of info around if you Google it.
I started spotting ever so slightly a couple of days ago, it could be nothing as it has stopped now, just wait and see I think, maybe do another test in a week or so, see if it still says positive!

Tadpole2013 · 05/03/2014 18:33

I found it, Grizzer! I remembered that my old Gynae prescribed me something for the water in my breast, a problem I had two years back. I googled it and came across agnus castus. I went to the pharmacy today and picked up a bottle. I found really great reviews on a German site for it. Alll sorts of women, ttc to premenipause.
It says to take it for three months before a change happens. I hope it will settle my cycle back to 28 days. This rubbish of 26 to 31 days is killing me!
However, if your periods are regular, you might not need it. Jass, what do you think?

Sorry mumalah. I can't help as I don't do any temping.

mumalah · 05/03/2014 17:50

Lol thanks for trying Jass ! Hopeful if your lurking you might know whats going on !
