To keep this thread going, proving support to all of those of a 'riper vintage' wishing for a baby...

I have received so much help, advice and support here, so although I technically have graduated, I thought I'd get the next thread going to keep the momentum.

Sorry - fat thumbs again! Meant to say we don't think of the consequences. Hope you're ok. It doesn't even sound as if you can run away & lock yourself in the bathroom to get away from it all!! Lol x
I'm having a mad moment again - had a recommendation for a psychic who is "amazing!" I tried to get an appointment & she was fully booked until December!!!!!! Got a text a couple of days later offering me a cancellation for Friday. Totally fate..... I'll let you know how I get on x

Grizzer · 08/07/2014 09:32

Morning everyone, I am just relaxing with a cup of (decaf) coffee & a chocolate brioche after dropping dd at nursery & cleaning the kitchen. Going to finish decorating the hall which I started at Easter & still haven't finished due to all the illness that took hold of our family.
Gum it might be a good thing that dd got caught first time, I'm guessing the fear she felt having to face the police & phone you to confess will make her think it's not worth doing it again. I think most teenagers try these things at some point. I remember working in a cafe when I was about 14 & sneaking cigarettes out of one of the adults bag. My friend & I stood in a little lane between our 2 houses trying our first smoke! So stupid - anyone could have come along at any time but, at that age, we just d

Justpickagoddamnname · 08/07/2014 07:43

Gum, I am aghast at seven people and one bathroom. This is my idea of a nightmare!
Try not to feel too upset at dd. we all do stupid things as teenagers. I am pretty sure if you looked up a dictionary it would say 'teenager: a person of youth who does stupid thngs'.
It is fabulous that you are feeling so splendidly pregnant Grinch.
Well I am getting a bit worried. Not really feeling nauseous anymore and even my spots have calmed down. In my last pregnancy I got more and more naseous and was feeling very ill by week 7 or 8 and quite a lot of spots in first trimester. Definitely on way to full blown nauseau by week 6, which I am at now. Thinking of looking to pay for early scan though we can't really afford this ( not that I know how much it will cost but can't be cheap?)

Gumblossom · 08/07/2014 00:35

Hello everyone.

Fireflies, coincidentally I just read this thread over at Fertility Friend, and it mentioned the use of melatonin.

I too am a little Envy of Grinch - 7+2 already. I hope it is smooth sailing for you.

Fireflies, my first pregnancy after DS, I was still breastfeeding and had painful nipples when feeding - sounds promising!

I have been having a lovely relaxed time. Yesterday the weather was very cold and wet, so we had the fire going and I did a bit of tidying up, snuggling by the fire and a little bit of gardening when the rain stopped.

Unfortunately my peaceful day was disturbed with a phone-call from DD (14 years old) telling me she had been caught shop-lifting. I can't tell you how surprised and upset I am. She is actually such a great kid - never any trouble - straight A's at school, super bright. I'm a bit Shock, but these things happen.

Beginning to feel like I should start looking forward to having the kids move out! It's been a tough year for us what with DH's parents being ill (he's now trying to organise a nursing home for his father), having DS (23) come back home to live, jobless and incredibly annoying and lazy. Plus I went back to full-time work, DS (5) started full-time school, DD (17) is doing her final year and tertiary entrance exams, and the house feels fit to burst with 7 people, four of them (practically) adults. Our downstairs bathroom is on the blink, so we all share one bathroom (which is starting to grate - all those bloody wet towels are doing my head in!).

Sorry - I've whinging again - seem to do that a lot lately. It's just with my perfect angel of a daughter being caught stealing (she assures me it is the first time, she was with a friend, and I think that was part of it) I just feel it's almost the last straw. Which now has me thinking (as I am sure any sane person would) that I've got enough on my plate and a pregnancy (and all the illness and fatigue it brings) and new baby might just be the mouthful I choke on!

But then again, I can think of nothing more hopeful and wonderful than having a baby.

So there you have it,every-time: heartfelt wins over logic Hmm

10000Fireflies · 07/07/2014 14:07

Grinch thanks for the info on where to get melatonin. Biovea kept coming up when I searched so good to have a recommendation. I hope I won’t need any but am getting prepped to add that to the list if AF puts in an appearance again. How long were you taking your supps for? Is BG full weaned from BF? Baby FF isn’t and I worry a bit about taking the supps while still doing so.

Impressed by your actions on PE. Hope you get in the system for that soon. Wow! 7+2 already! Am a little Envy, but also Grin that you’ve been so successful so quickly. Gives me hope as we’re the same age. Smile.Am loving the image of you waltzing into school in Sept with growing bump to give them your news.

Green loving the idea of you talking to your embies! Are they advanced for their age? Have they started answering back??!!

I had a look at Emma Cannon’s website/twitter stuff. She’s certainly into ‘clean’ living. Makes me feel better for using all my Daylesford cleaning stuff!! I also stumbled upon The Dr Zhai Clinic, mentioned in passing in Marie Claire this month. Many similar principals on successful conception there too. Wonder how much the acupuncture costs… Currently on 2WW but not exactly sure where exactly. OVd later than usual, but starting to feel very pre-menstrual, so not sure if I should feel optimistic. However, BF is really painful…. Am prob clutching at straws…

Waves to all. Better get on with some chores while BFF sleeps!

Hello all! I am 7+2 today, still fielding symptoms so hopefully so far so good. Still waiting for a date for the early scan - at this rate, it won't be very early.

Grizzer I love a bit of karaoke now and then! Sounds like a great night.

Just how is the nausea? I haven't thrown up yet but the last three days have been horribly close., this morning particularly.

Green how are you doing? It must be an even more agonising ttw than usual. Google isn't always helpful either is it?!! Sending you positive thoughts.

The 51 year old reminds me that when I had BG there was a woman there who had conceived naturally at 51 and had girl twins! They were in SCBU at the same time as BG. The dad still looked dazed, perhaps in part because he had three adult daughters and now two more! I read on another thread about the 'heavy hand' you can buy to lay over your baby, the thread thought it was freaky. But these twins has one had it always calmed them instantly.

gum a month out can maybe be beneficial for one's brain at least I think? And then the holidays to relax in (with children? Maybe not...).

fishwife it ain't over till it's over...

I have managed so far to keep it from work, despite the midriff spread that makes me look 5 months gone. A few more days, then I can waltz in in September at 14 weeks and spring the surprise!

Pregnant at 51 Shock!! That's amazing, Green. Has she just found out or has she passed the 12 week mark? I know it is truly amazing to get a bfp at that age, but with my experience, I like to hear that the pregnancy has progressed too.

As for me, not much happening. I should have started the shag fest but DH has hurt his back, so there's nothing happening. I will also be away over the weekend, which I think is when I'll be likely to ovulate, so this month I am taking a step back, and not actually trying too hard. If it happens it happens, otherwise, I'll just enjoy a quiet tww with no symptom spotting.

Fatty - all those symptoms can be pregnancy too, so don't be too disheartened.

FattyFishwife · 06/07/2014 00:47

Well im slap bang In the middle of my tww after trying the soft cups along with dtd as normal too. Now added zinc to my list of supplements too.
Have started having my usual crampy ovaries, tender boobs and chocolate cravings tho....so im pretty sure af will be popping by to share my choccy soon!

Isabeller · 06/07/2014 00:19

How fantastic Justpick congratulations! xx

Justpickagoddamnname · 05/07/2014 10:03

Pregnant naturally at 51! My goodness! I feel like a spring chicken now. All relative ain't it?!
Gum glad to hear everyone in your house is well.
I am Sometimes slightly nauseous, especially if too long between eating. And do get the same sort of feeling as if period is coming buti have had that for nearly two weeks and I got it in my last pg so don't thnk it is anything to worry about. Naseau started to get serious about week 6 last time.
Fingers crossed for you Green!

greenlizard · 05/07/2014 08:31

Well it is day 3 in the green lizard house and I feel....absolutely nothing at all!! Sad. This could mean nothing and everything. Obviously like any intelligent woman would do I have turned to frantically googling but I have drawn no conclusions other than some people get symptoms and some don't . Apparently a 5 day blastocyst would hatch on day 6 and start implanting on day 7 (ish). Would my symptoms be the same as an unsupported cycle I wonder? I can see that I will be driving myself (& everyone else around me bonkers Grin Grin I have been talking to them (out loud Blush) and asking them to dig in and make themselves at home. DP already has the look of someone hunkering down to weather the storm..Grin

Now here is some news for us, a lady at work is pregnant (naturally) at 51!!!! She is very Shock Grin

Very jealous of you teachers and your long summer holidays (but not of your full on jobs the rest of the year obviously Wink). Enjoy your breaks. grizzer that sounds like a really fun night out and one night of letting your hair down isn't going to hurt Smile

Today I am going to do some shopping (need some shoes for a party I am going to end July, bake a cake and sort some boxes out. Maybe catch a bit of the Bike tour. Enjoy your days ladies.

Xxx

Ps.gum my nephew went off to his prom the other night in his DJ and I nearly cried - how do they grow up so fast!

Gumblossom · 04/07/2014 23:20

Grizzer, sounds like you had fun. And now you can relax for the summer. How many weeks do you have off? Enjoy. Do you have any plans?

I too, am on holiday, but only two weeks. Not complaining, I really need this break. Fortunately, at this stage (touch wood) everyone is well! DD's mysterious tummy pain seems to have gone (and the bloody dr's surgery told me they'd ring me on Tuesday with results of her helicobactor test, and so far nothing! I've been so busy I forgot to ring them yesterday and ask again). DH is over the worst of the Man-flu, and everyone else seems to be getting over the cold they all had. Thank goodness, don't know how much more I could take.Confused

Well, I never did end up buying the stuff off ebay. I decided that I'd be better off spending the money somewhere else, where needed, as I don't really need to pee on a stick to know when to have sex. I should just have it all the time (ha, ha, as if that's going to happen!), or at least every second day from about day 8 to day 15. That should cover the fertile window. Also, I don't need all those pregnancy tests, I just need to be pregnant so that I can get a + on the tests I already have Sad I still have some opk's and will still use them, mainly to support the temping on do for my chart.

I know at my age I should probably give up ttc, but I've done it for so long now, I actually think it is part of my normal lifestyle (weird, I know,Shock ). But so long as I am still ovulating, even if they are dud eggs, I'm going to be open to getting pregnant. It's a very slim chance, but a chance all the same. In the meantime, I do love and enjoy the children I already have.

DD is playing netball today, so I'll have a long swim. Then, if I've the energy, I'll get stuck into tidying the house so I can relax and enjoy the rest of the holidays. I plan to garden, knit, list stuff on ebay, put up curtains/blinds, take DD (17years old) to the city for a couple of days to buy a ball gown (it is her school "ball" in August) and maybe even read a novel Wink

Calibee - any updates?

Green - how are you feeling?

Grinch, are you already about 6 weeks? Symptoms??? What about you Justpick - any symptoms?

Grizzer · 04/07/2014 21:17

Congratulations Justpick. I can't believe we've got two bfps this month already. I wonder if there will be any more. Pretty sure I can rule myself out as I have taken the 'no alcohol' advice & stomped all over it!! Had a work do last night & drunk copious amounts of wine to help me through the hilarity that is 30 mostly women singing karaoke classics. Sounds like the night from hell I know but it was fun! Hungover all day but I have now finished work for the summer. Relaxation here I come xx

FattyFishwife · 04/07/2014 00:04

Many congratulations to grinch and justpick....what a boost of hope its given me to hear of your positives Thanks

Gumblossom · 03/07/2014 23:42

Wonderful news Justpick. Wow! I knew it was time for some BFP's but didn't expect two in such quick succession.

Green, try to relax and enjoy the tww. As far as I am concerned, you are pregnant, cos you've got 2 fertilized eggs in there! How exciting. Grin

It's so lovely to see it all happening on the thread. Well done oldies!

TheGrinchWearsStripes · 03/07/2014 19:07

Just congratulations!! Really exciting, and indeed fingers crossed for a boring and 9 months (I'll even settle for 9 months!!)

Jbrd you really have been through so much. Sounds like the counselling may be a good idea, just sifting through everything even. It can be really helpful being allowed to talk about things without worrying about your audience. Good for you for going to the yoga.

Green exciting news too! Good luck with it all. No spare HPTs I'm afraid, i am still doing them!! Had to do a digital today just so I could see the word rather than just a line. And yup, unless the test has honesty issues definitely pg.

gum you asked about the supplements I took. I am pretty terrible at remembering to take things, but I was taking CoQ10, melatonin ( ff, got it from Biovea), Omega 3, vitamin C, Evening Primrose, DHEA (I know jury is out), and the pregnacare for conception which had loads of other stuff that seems to be recommended. I also went for fertility acupuncture, which I do think helps me - I had it before DS as well. I think it was probably that more than anything. I went to Emma Cannon, the one who wrote the Baby-Making Bible - horrendously expensive but hey if it works?!

I phoned Action on Preeclampsia last Friday, and they have offered me a consultation with one of their specialists. This needs a referral from the gp, so off i went on Tuesday to ask for one. The dr didn't know about this service so we got a little confused, as she thought I was asking to be booked into a central London hospital for the birth. I thought it was a bit shocking that she didn't know about the consulations, given that preeclampsia isn't so rare. However, she is doing the referral, plus one for an early scan at my local hospital. So I have set the great caravan in motion. Scary.

Justpickagoddamnname · 03/07/2014 18:37

Hugs to you jbrd. I hope the counselling helps. You've been through a tremendous amount.

Thanks to you all for your congratulations.
Green lizard, best good wishes going your way over the next two weeks. Really hope that there is a BFP coming up with your name on. You asked where we were in TTc. We have been incredibly fortunate as this was our first month of TTc.

Woohooo!!! Another BFP!! Wow!! Congratulations Justpickagoddamnname. I am so glad you don’t need the CBFM info. And thanks for your tips on mindfulness.

JBrd have some big un-Mumsnetty hugs. And some Cake too. And maybe some Wine? Well done for going and getting through it. I am sure each week will get easier as your healing process really begins. We’ve crossed paths on and off over the past couple of years, but I hadn’t realised just how much heartache you’d had to deal with. Full of admiration for you that you can even manage to get up in the mornings.

Inshock73 · 03/07/2014 11:00

Very exciting on here at the moment! :)

Congratulations Justpick that's wonderful news! Keep us updated!!

Green Wow that is so exciting! I have everything crossed for you.
