The Rules...

(1) A lady may only POAS on a Friday.
(2) Friday means the day that everyone calls Friday in the time zone where you spent the night.
(3) Rule (1) does not apply to POA-OPK-S, UNLESS they are being illegitimately used as surrogate HCG detectors, in which case Rule (1) most definitely does apply
(4) Rule (1) does not apply following a BFP because if you want to waste £25 a day POADigiS that's your prerogative
(5) Rule (1) does not apply if a lady is POAS in an attempt to get a BFN to prove she can start DTD with intent
(6) Rule (1) does not apply if a lady wants for unknown reason to pee on an actual stick, like a twig or some such, if that lady is unexpectedly caught short whilst tramping in the forest looking for bears.
(7) These rules (including Rule (1)) are subject to the change at any time if the ladies of the Posifrickentivity thread decide on a whim come up with empirical evidence to prove that it is luckier to POAS on any other day of the week
(8) Violators of Rule (1) shall be subject to fish throwing.

And as a grand finale, why not pledge to NEVER POAS before 14DPO?

Morning all. So much for paying attention to FF Smile. Poas twice this morning, not very strong but a line is a line, right? So for now, I am pregnant Grin. I am not ready yet to move to a grads thread, will be cheering from here for the foreseeable. Any more poas news? Sorry parsley Thanks for you and enjoy your beer and night out.

Parsley2506 · 21/02/2014 07:32

Morning all! As expected, BFN here. Oh well, I have a beer in the fridge I've dutifully ignored all week that I can have tonight and I can now properly enjoy this awards dinner thing I have next week.

Still, I many need one/all of you to throw all my own 'good' advice back at me later when the "it's never going to happen" blues set in. Next month is the 2 year anniversary of starting ttc....

Triplespin · 21/02/2014 07:16

parsley did you poas this morning? Brownish cm could just be an implantation. It's not over until AF!

Thanks seb that gives me hope as I don't even have sore boobs this cycle which I usually do after ovulation. I will definitely poas next Friday, but I may not get the chance as AF due on Thursday

Parsley2506 · 20/02/2014 19:08

CD31, 13DPO, feeling generally un-AFish all day so just had to tempt fate by buying some HPTs on my way home to join in POAS Friday tomorrow - of course now I am suddenly feeling crampy and had some brownish CM. Grrr.

metal so sorry about your MMC - in addition to the general shit feelings that go along with an MC you also end up feeling like a fool for ever believing you were pregnant. My MMC wasn't discovered till 11 weeks, bean gave up at 6. It's all totally craptastic, but we are here for you!

triple glad to hear you're feeling positive about acupuncture, something I've yet to try but generally have only heard good things about, let us know how it goes!

sebsmummy1 · 20/02/2014 18:06

Triple I had no symptoms either on the 2ww, so don't let that make you think negatively. Only thing that was different was some creamy discharge on 9dpo. If I ever get that again I will be needing some serious fish slapping I think.

Well would you believe that today my pos HPT is hardly discernible. I think I maybe about to turn a corner, plus I feel so much better!!!! I wonder if I was hormonal and I didn't realise it.

So having out on half a stone in the last 5 months , having reached target with SW. I decided yesterday to get back on the wagon again and feel so much better for it. My fridge is packed full of colourful vegetables and the bread bin is firmly out of reach. I am also organising a trial session with my local personal training gym after they said I could still join modified classes whilst pregnant (only about 5 in each class).

My and OH have been hiding the toad every other day, so there is a chance we could grab the egg if it sneaks past.

I am also planning a new kitchen and starting to do some decorating. Thank god Spring is around the corner and everything is shagging. Got to be a good fertile omen Grin

Triplespin · 20/02/2014 17:58

Hello all
Sorry I have not posted in a while.
sarnie 11dpo should be ok to test especially if you are using one of the sensitive tests.

This thread always makes me less stressed! I have tried either cotton buds or the cough syrup. I should add that to project desperate.

I am looking forward to this Saturday. I am going for five elements accupuncture. No idea what it means but 8 month on, I will give it a go.

I will be 9dpo tomorrow but I have no symptoms whatsoever. I have been feeling quite thirsty recently. Could that mean i am preg ???

Good luck to everyone poas tomorrow!!

Metalhead · 20/02/2014 17:53

Hi sebs, yes I was on the September AN thread too. Sorry to see you're back to the drawing board as well, so to speak. And thanks for the offer of the FB group, however I'm a bit cautious when it comes to that sort of thing so will probably give it a miss.

Re: that study about lifting weights etc, I had a similar reaction to the other recent study that claimed taking multi-vitamins pre-conception increased the risk of miscarriage. But I think you just have to take it all with a pinch of salt, there are so many new studies about health stuff coming out all the time that it's hard to know what to believe.

Good luck poas Sarnie!

sebsmummy1 · 20/02/2014 16:11

Sarnie I've always tested positive on 11 dpo.

Just saying Grin

DoctorDonnaNoble · 20/02/2014 16:04

He's 5 months old now (friend now lives other side of London so don't see each othere that often any more :(). Still adorable. I had some lovely finger holds and a big long cuddle and play while his mum finished her lunch!
Anyway, have a giant fishy slap to remind you that PMS symptoms are the same as pregnancy ones (WHY????). My chosen fish today is the Flounder, as he is cute in The Little Mermaid - yes I have gone insane this half term Grin

CorporeSarnie · 20/02/2014 16:00

Donna, as the others have said it is not your fault. The 'potentially modifiable' and 'modifiable' risk factors are laughable - oh, I'll try not being over 30 anymore, and I'll give up my job doing night shifts whilst I'm pg - these are indeed lifestyle risk factors, but not ones that most people can readily do anything about. I'd tell my trainees off if they identified risk factors like that as modifiable. And none of us would be surprised to see increasing maternal age, drinking and having lots of coffee as being increased risks for MC. And in the Discussion the authors say that they are not sure if the increased risk with exercise results from women having better recall of what they had done prior to the MC (which sounds familiar to me - how often have any of us thought "if only I hadn't gone running/lifted DC/had a glass of wine before I knew I was pg"!).
I think that comprehensively debunks any new findings of the study.
Glad to hear you had a nice lunch, did you get to sniff its head (newborn babies smell so lush)?

I am doing a great job of setting myself up for a fall at the moment - bleeding has slowed to a dab of light pink cm. So am on my way to imaginary IB land at the moment. Not healthy. So even though the rules are to test on Fridays, I will only be 11dpo, I think I'm going to try and make myself wait until Sat (which is when FF says I should test). And have been ultra-irritable all day (which I do get when pregnant, but also when premenstrual). Please someone slap me with a kipper!

DoctorDonnaNoble · 20/02/2014 14:46

Thanks Seb, you know what it's like when you see these articles though. DH has told me to just stay away from them and not be silly! However, I will be sticking to a max of 20kg from now on. I can work on form and up my reps so it's not the end of the world. There's plenty of time to work out how much I can deadlift, there's no rush!
Had a lovley lunch out with my school chum and had some lovely baby cuddles - however, she told me that our other friend (that I don't hear from that often) is due in May! ARGH! Babies everywhere.

sebsmummy1 · 20/02/2014 12:05

Doctor, i lifted heavy weights throughout my pregnancy as part of my job. When i look back now i cringe. The doctor told me that if a pregnancy was viable being active and lifting would have no impact on it. I took him at his word far too literally.

I lifted 50 hay bales as part of a massive delivery in my first trimester, i was wrestling sheep, i was sprinting round fields. Honestly the things i did would make your toes curl, yet i had the best pregnancy anyone could have asked for.

You did not harm your baby.

DoctorDonnaNoble · 20/02/2014 11:29

Off into town for a bit to meet old school chum and her baby. I have a half bottle of wine waiting for my return and may get some nice M and S food for this evening for me and DH. AF has f'd off so maybe I should make some TITH Wink

EnglishGirlAbroad · 20/02/2014 11:24

Sorry for your loss metalhead. I hope you have lots of support. Expect a rollercoaster of emotions. Totally get wanting to start trying again as soon as possible. Wish you lots of luck.

Doctor - ignore that stupid article. I read it also. It's complete crap. Lifting weights did not make you lose you baby. It's not your fault. Smile

I've had a shit morning. Had a massive meltdown. Snapped out of it now. Stupid TTC. Stupid body.

DoctorDonnaNoble · 20/02/2014 10:09

@Metalhead - same thing happened to me with regards the scan but my body never quite got it so nothing happened until the op.

I'm feeling a little guilty today - don't know why, but I read the reports on the research from Denmark and it turns out that I'm a bad person. Before I knew I was pregnant I was regularly lifting over 20kg at the gym! Why did I read it!!!! No feel it's all my fault again!

sebsmummy1 · 20/02/2014 09:45

Hi Metalhead.

I'm so so sorry to hear your news Sad

I think we may have been on the same thread on the AN boards.

I can totally understand the want to try again straight away. I feel exactly the same. You may find that you feel ok then you feel horrendous, then you feel slightly better etc. I've found it a total rollercoaster. I found some solace in the fact that mine was a very early loss and id really only had a few weeks to get used to the idea before it was whipped away from me again.

Ive just joined a facebook group that was set up by women on here who have had mcs in the last 4 months. Its pretty cathartic to be able to talk about details and feelings away from the main boards Particularly since i found i was boring my partner about it and just pissing all over anyones cornflakes on here. Let me know if you want me to PM you the details xx

Metalhead · 20/02/2014 08:45

Morning everyone, may I join you please? I've just had a mmc, had a first scan at what should have been nearly 8 weeks but baby measured only just over 6, two weeks later second scan confirmed it had died. Went to the local EPU last Thursday and was booked in for D&C this Tuesday. Ended up passing the sac at home on Sunday night, but still had the D&C on Tuesday as there was still some tissue left. Now just waiting for the bleeding to stop.

Generally speaking I'm not feeling bad emotionally, though every now and then I get a bit teary. Just want to move on and get back to ttc as soon as possible really...

Seasides · 19/02/2014 23:33

We should save the pom poms until I'm cleared of chlamydia and gonorrhea! Though if I test positive DH and I have bigger problems than ttc...him having his balls removed, for example Wink

I'm with you on hoping it'll all sort itself out mini, but I do wish I'd asked for the Hycosy much earlier. I don't know whether they'd have referred me, but I didn't realise there was such a waiting list.

OP posts:
Sal1977 · 19/02/2014 22:55

Haha, if I'd been there, I would've had my pom poms out and cheered you on! >

mini28 · 19/02/2014 22:30

Thanks sundance and seasides perhaps I should head to the docs sooner. I'll have a think and chat to dh about it. I've hesitated till now because I'm not sure I'm ready to admit to myself that there might be a problem Hmm my gp is particularly rubbish and unhelpful. My usual response is to barge on through regardless in the blind hope that everything will turn out ok, but I'm beginning to think that I need to get a move on seeing as we've been ttc for almost 16months and have absolutely nothing to show for it Sad

Parsley2506 · 19/02/2014 21:31

Oh god Grin seasides that made me laugh, and Sal will be proud if anything! Hahaha!

Seasides · 19/02/2014 19:33

Hi, and welcome back mini. I'd just head to the doc and lie cry if I were you, can't help to get concerns at least logged. Mine started testing me from 8 months ttcafter ectopic, but I think she's quite sympathetic.

Sal, I'm sure you won't be at all creeped out to know I thought of you this afternoon at the docs while waggling a cotton bud up myself for the first and only time! Nice of the nurse to let me swab in private (a win for both of us, doubt she was raring for an rueful of my flowerpot).

OP posts:
Sundance2007 · 19/02/2014 19:30

Thanks otters! Sadly no measuring lines in the cap so will go for 2xtsps when the time comes. And parsley, I was really surprised to find it in a tescos own brand but this one does have guaifenesin as only ingredient (without anti histamine), for a grand total of £1.50.

I'd also read about drinking loads of water to help too.

And thanks mini, weirdly, the 2nd mc wasn't as bad emotionally as I had put my barriers up so to speak and didn't allow myself to get excited. It was hard but it's brought me and DH closer together I think - so there's some posifrickintivity in there somewhere!

I think GPS tend to count from the end of your last mc - but I think this is totally wrong and should be from when you start trying, the mc (s) are all part of it, but Id also be tempted to exaggerate to the docs if you think it will get you tested sooner.

HollyBen · 19/02/2014 18:59

I was going to try cough mixture this month. Bought some Morrisons branded stuff. It was truly vile. Took it a couple of times but gave up. I did notice more EWCM this month but I think it was coincidence given how much I took.

3dpo. DD is poorly so home with her. She has a raging temp and was sick last night. She hadn't ate anything so I made loads of bits for lunch hoping she want something. Didn't work and I ended up eating most of it Blush One of things was a fish finger, which I normally like. Today I almost spat it back on the plate. It tasted really strong. Therefore I must be upduffed right!!?!?!? off to google wether aversion to fish fingers is a pg symptom

mini28 · 19/02/2014 18:00

Thank you for the lovely welcome everyone

I'm currently 3dpo but not feeling very optimistic about this cycle as we only dtd once over my fertile time (on ov day, but after I ov'd I think). Was pretty Angry at the time, but now I'm thinking it might do me some good to have a month 'off' (even if it was unintentional!) I'm sure it won't stop me symptom spotting though Hmm

sundance Really sorry to hear you've been through this nastiness twice. Glad to hear that you've managed to keep positive though. I've not had any testing yet. Actually, I'm a bit confused as to when I could realistically go down that route. Not sure if the required '1 year trying' runs from date we decided to ttc initially, date I last got pregnant, date I miscarried, date I got all clear from all the complications... I guess I'll probably rock up to the docs in about April if I don't have a bfp before then and see what their policy is.
