The Rules...

(1) A lady may only POAS on a Friday.
(2) Friday means the day that everyone calls Friday in the time zone where you spent the night.
(3) Rule (1) does not apply to POA-OPK-S, UNLESS they are being illegitimately used as surrogate HCG detectors, in which case Rule (1) most definitely does apply
(4) Rule (1) does not apply following a BFP because if you want to waste £25 a day POADigiS that's your prerogative
(5) Rule (1) does not apply if a lady is POAS in an attempt to get a BFN to prove she can start DTD with intent
(6) Rule (1) does not apply if a lady wants for unknown reason to pee on an actual stick, like a twig or some such, if that lady is unexpectedly caught short whilst tramping in the forest looking for bears.
(7) These rules (including Rule (1)) are subject to the change at any time if the ladies of the Posifrickentivity thread decide on a whim come up with empirical evidence to prove that it is luckier to POAS on any other day of the week
(8) Violators of Rule (1) shall be subject to fish throwing.

And as a grand finale, why not pledge to NEVER POAS before 14DPO?

Checking your cervix can be useful but only as part of the bigger picture and generally it will not tell you if you are pregnant sadly.

If you squat on the floor and insert a finger you will be able to feel your cervix. Around OV it will be higher and feel soft. Before AF it will be low and feel quite firm. I was able to tell I was definitely miscarrying by checking my cervix as it was low and dilated so there was no chance the contents of my womb wasn't falling out.

This is slightly complicated if you have already given birth as then your cervix is always slightly open or at least feels it!!

The cotton bud started with me checking for implantation bleeding mid cycle but then just became a bloody annoying habit. I wouldn't recommend it. Just check your pants or toilet tissue.

Baxter2014 · 17/02/2014 14:56

Oh hurrah otters what amazing news. Now you can take your mind of TTC and plan a wedding instead then you can be one of those people who get miraculously upduffed without even thinking about it and be 8 weeks preggers before even knowing about it. Congratulations!!!

Ummmm, how the hell do i check my cervix and actually WTF am i supposed to be looking/feeling for. Is it just a case of ramming a digit up there and checking if its 'open'?? No idea what that is supposed to feel like! And is the cotton buds just to check mucous??? is it safe to be waving a stick around in there?! I know it will just be another part of this TTC malarky that i will get obsessed with but the knowledge may come in handy at some stage.

Sal1977 · 17/02/2014 14:39

Whoop whoop Otters lovely news!!

Do it quick! We did it about 4 months after getting engaged (was preggo when he proposed). Sadly was not preggo for the wedding but it was lovely and about £1500 all in. Perfect. I have friends who have spent between £18-20k and another was £40k+!! WTF?? That's a huge deposit on a house!! In fact they now moan they can't afford the house they want...suckers!!

Whoever recommended using cottons buds to poke around, I now have a twitchy cervix.

Picked up prescription for the heparin and a sharps box, I looked like a right crack whore carrying it back to the car!!

deuscat · 17/02/2014 14:34

Congratulations Otters! What lovely news! Hope you enjoy planning and ring shopping Smile

I didn't get a grand proposal either but that's not the point. The point is you're both committing to declaring and consolidating your relationship into a happy marriage.

I loved my wedding and have just received the photo album and wedding film which has allowed me to relive it again. Such happy memories.

sebsmummy1 · 17/02/2014 13:59

Yep Holly is right. I think after mc you are left sitting on your hands which really is the absolute worst as all you want to be doing is anything, be it charting, pissing on opks etc. instead it's weeks of crotch watch which is fucking depressing.

My hpts are just relentlessly faint positive which I suspect will stay that way until AF appears.

HollyBen · 17/02/2014 13:39

Welcome minky Sorry you have found yourself here. It is a brilliant place for support and laughs. We didn't take any precautions post-MC but also didn't TTC with any real purpose either. You may well find that your cycle completely changes or it might be the same there is really no way of telling. I now get sore nipples around ov which last until AF Sad I never had this before. I notice lots more too which I guess is because I spend a lot of time consulting dr google am more aware. You need to make sure you have had a bfn before you use OPKs as OPKs can give a false positive otherwise.

MissHobart · 17/02/2014 13:38

I had to wait 10 years for my proposal Hmm

EnglishGirlAbroad · 17/02/2014 13:36

Otters... Get on Pinterest. Perfect to while away the hours and get inspired!! I spent many a happy hour pinning everything and anything!!

DoctorDonnaNoble · 17/02/2014 13:31

Otters - My DH proposed on a rainy day in Bath after the rugby by saying 'so, should we get married then?' Lovely.
Our wedding was really, low key. Church wedding (Catholic church so free) followed by a reception in our favourite pub! Food was very yummy and much cheaper than the other ways of arranging catering we looked into!

HollyBen · 17/02/2014 13:28

You ladies do make me laugh. Love the typo sebs

Congratulations otters bet dp was gutted on Friday! MR h proposed whilst we were in Paris and I was 5 months pg. I thought it was odd he kept suggesting places we really needed to go. Turns out he was trying to find the right place! Enjoy the planning. Lots of the smaller hotels in Edinburgh have good packages. We got married almost 3 years ago and only had immediate family during the day (17) then about 90 for a party at night. We did look at a few smaller places but they weren't big enough for evening. The Bonham (I think) at the West End was nice.

Almost into the tww. Just a couple of portions to tith post ov as per SMEP to go.

OttersPocket · 17/02/2014 12:31

To be honest, I don't think I could wait to start planning. I'm a planner and an excellent work procrastinator so this is right up my street! And yes, I'm hoping it'll bring on a bfp Wink

Parsely your wedding sounds lovely. Ideally I'd like to do something similar and hire a quaint hall and have people bring a plate. Unfortunately in Edinburgh things are rather expensive and more corporate. I'll need to put my thinking cap on...

sebsmummy1 · 17/02/2014 11:44

Oh I think get planning is the best idea. You know how AF really enjoys appearing two hours after you've bothered to go out and pay stupid money for an ultra early piss stick?

Well pregnancy works the same way. Give up on it and start planning something else and you sure as hell can guarantee you will get a positive in no time Grin

Parsley2506 · 17/02/2014 11:41

Definitely english, way too much emphasis on showy offness these days. MrP proposed while we were on a nice walk, and we had our wedding at a very pretty countryside village hall that cost the princely sum of £350 to hire for the weekend!

EnglishGirlAbroad · 17/02/2014 11:30

That's a lovely story otters! I don't think a proposal has to be if and grand, it's personal to the couple! That sounds perfect! I loved planning our wedding, perfect way to take your mind off TTC!

OttersPocket · 17/02/2014 11:30

Sebs! I just snorted tea all over my laptop!

It will be a very cheap small wedding. And I always said I didn't want to be a pregnant bride so I could drink ALL the champagne Wink. So the dilemma is whether to wait possibly forever years until after we have a baby, or to take the plunge and risk being a preggo bride...

I have decided to spend the day ring shopping online. My work must really love me Grin

Parsley2506 · 17/02/2014 11:19

Ahhh otters that's lovely! Poor old Mr Otters when you laughed it off initially, he must have been stumped! Wedding planning is a lot of fun, definitely more enjoyable than ttc! Wink

sebs what a good typo! Haha! I lost count of the number of times I thought MrP was about to propose - took him nearly 6 bloody years!

sebsmummy1 · 17/02/2014 11:13

Omg porn lol.

Classic typo and gawd knows what kind of stuff I write on here if that's what my phone considers a preferable auto correct Blush

sebsmummy1 · 17/02/2014 11:12

Awww and that's the best proposal story lol

I accidently saw the poem that OH had lifted from the web and sent to himself via email on Thursday night. The last line contained a marriage proposal. I of course think that he is going to propose on my birthday and Valentines day and think OMG OMG. Get to the day, open my card, to find the same porn but with the last line changed to read something different. I think my face probably said it all.

sebsmummy1 · 17/02/2014 11:07

Omg otters HUGE congratulations. That's so fantastic and what better way to take your mind off TTC than planning a fabulous wedding. Eeek Grin. Fingers crossed for your 2ww, sounds like you timed TITH just right.

OttersPocket · 17/02/2014 11:05

Thanks Smile

The proposal was certainly not the most romantic ever! DP and I had a lovely evening eating dinner and drinking lots of wine on Friday night. DP suggested that we get married and me, being a bit of a dunce sometimes, brushed it off as general chit chat. I may have said something about a proposal on Valentine's Day being a bit tacky! I think DP was a bit Confused

We spent Saturday and Sunday doing DIY and all day he was a bit 'funny'. So in bed last night he turns to me and says, Otters, you do release that on Friday I was being serious and it was my, admittedly rubbish, way of proposing to you? So I made him get out of bed and do it properly Grin. And that was that Smile We're going to keep it to ourselves for a week, go ring shopping on our very limited budget, and tell people next weekend. To be fair, it was very 'us', we're not into massive declarations of undying love for one another. But we're very happy and secure so we're both chuffed to bits!

Parsley2506 · 17/02/2014 10:52

otters woooooooo! Congratulations! How did it go down? Love a good proposal story! Sorry about your car tho, I hope the idiot that crashed into it is being charged with something - texting and driving, what a fucking knob! What if you'd been in there? Twat!

seasides remind me when your HyCoSy is? Hopefully that will put those fears to rest. I am on the hunt for other tests I can obsess over try to get our GP on board with. Can't help but feel like if it took 18 months to get one failed pregnancy we need to be 'doing' more. But I am also totally fed up of thinking about this shit all the fucking time!

sebs not an unreasonable way to feel at all given what you've been through but it's healthiest to stay away from trigger threads like that. Nothing good ever comes from reading them! Come and rant at us lot instead Wink

My vision went totally weird this morning. I couldn't focus on words in front of my face, like there was a sort of blind spot wherever I tried to focus, and I had a fuzzy wuzzy wavy line around the edges of my vision. Don't worry, I've booked an eye test but not before googling to see if it's a pg symptom. Of course it bloody is, I think anything and everything can be a symptom, "blurry vision early pregnancy symptom", "pins and needles early pregnancy symptom", "itchy bum early pregnancy symptom" - I think that basically I just need to step away from Dr Google.

EnglishGirlAbroad · 17/02/2014 10:39

Ahhh otters your poor car! I'd have been fuming!! Well done in your tith efforts and MASSIVE congratulations on the engagement!!Grin

sebsmummy1 · 17/02/2014 10:14

Argh god I've become one of the PO on here and have just got really pissy with someone who chose to use AIBU as a place to light heartedly discuss terminating her pregnancy.

I used to be totally pro-choice, but of course now I'm in the situation I'm in I've decided to act like a fucking fruit loop over something that is NOTHING to do with me.

Trout gun obviously.

OttersPocket · 17/02/2014 10:13

Hi everyone, welcome Minky. We're a lovely bunch so get posting and join in the fun Grin

Well I've had an eventful few days! Do you remember that I bought a brand new baby-unfriendly shiny car? Well, that lovely 8 day old car is now in the garage in the sky. It was parked on the street outside my work on Friday and a silly bastard person who was texting whilst driving ploughed into it and wrote it off Angry Sad. I should hear back from my insurers today to see what happens now. I might have cried a little bit Blush

TTC wise, DP and I put in an excellent tith effort this weekend. I got my smiley opk on Sat and we manged tith twice on Sat and twice on Sun So it's the tww now for me - urgh.

Oh, and DP also proposed so he'll one day post baby be my DH Smile

Seasides · 17/02/2014 10:09

IKWYM sal - although with me I think it's because it's all starting to feel a bit pointless, and I'm more and more convinced my other tube's blocked and we're just humping away for nothin'. Here since around then too - March maybe? Forreeeeevvvveer and a day, anyway.

Hi minks - I'm sure you'll be leaving us again very soon, but glad to have you until then Smile
