I fell pregnant straight away. DD is now 2 months. Was unexpected as there are a lot of fertility problems in my family - it took my parents 3 years to have me and my brother was conceived by IVF 6 years later. Lots of friends are having issues too (conceiving, miscarriages and best friend had a still birth 2 months ago) - so I am very grateful at how lucky we have been.

TheresLotsOfFarmyardAnimals · 28/01/2014 10:42

I was a very lucky first month off the pill person, I didn't leave a cycle to adjust which means the dates were all way off. MW said it was pretty common though I'd imagine that lots are rather enthusiastic.

Taylor personally I never had any changes that early on but I did symptom spot like crazy. I'm afraid that the only thing you can do is test when your AF is due.

BobPatSamandIgglePiggle · 28/01/2014 10:37

Taylor - someone else will be along with proper advice. The only thing I'll say is try not to stress or read things into every little thing. Our bodies are funny things and sometimes work out of sync.

Jackthebodiless · 28/01/2014 09:15

First time we tried.

ZenNudist · 28/01/2014 08:42

First time I came off pill after 15+ years I got one period then fell pg.

Second time never went back on pill but pg first time we had planned unprotected sex when I ovulated.

Sorry to have to post on this feed but i really really want and need some advice and am not getting andwered anywhere else so. Here goes
New to the site and am really just looking for a bit of advice before i go mental!
I came off contraception in september and no problems getting back to regular periods. I guess im lucky as it comes bang on due date. So my partner and myself have obveously been trying since then and still no luck! We both are first time tryers and are really excited about becoming parents.
I am still not due to come on my period but last night i was in so much pain to the point of digging out my hot water bottle (never happens) i have 8 days left until im due to start. I have read about boob pains but im not having that its more sharp stabbing pains but not all the time! I woke up at 0500 and pretty much ran to the toaster. I wanted burnt black toast with no butter or anything. Just burnt bread! Finished the lot andjumped back into bed! How odd.
Any one wanna advise me on anything....... Please?

bryte · 28/01/2014 08:02

4 times first time! Only one ended in pregnancy
1 time 6 months, following miscarriages

patienceisvirtuous · 28/01/2014 07:24

Well this fills me with some hope. I am 36 (it's my first opportunity to try) so I am anxious about my fertility if I am honest. Fingers X.

Good luck OP, and everyone else ttc.

23 days post vasectomy reversal. Grin

akachan · 28/01/2014 07:04

This makes me feel like there's something wrong with us (month 3 and counting). Why do people have to wait a year to be tested if healthy couples should manage in 3 months though?!

ImBrian · 27/01/2014 23:06

Dc 1,4 & a mc were ooops, dc3 took 4 months and dc2 was the month after my mc. I have friends who have been trying for over a year though.

amothersplaceisinthewrong · 27/01/2014 22:33

Yes, in the first month of trying for each. Thought the first one would take at least six months....

Cybercat · 27/01/2014 22:32

First time for us but sadly ended in miscarriage. The following cycle I think I had a chemical pregnancy and am now (hopefully) 7 weeks pregnant immediately following that.

Bumpsadaisie · 27/01/2014 22:26

Yep, month 1 for DD and month 2 for DS.

The only reason DS was two months was because DDs sleeping was so dreadful we were too tired!

cupcake78 · 27/01/2014 22:22

Yep first time every time. Could have done with it taking slightly longer to ease the shock.

Weegiemum · 27/01/2014 22:17

Dd1 - first month of trying (29)
Ds - 2nd month of trying (31)
Dd2 - wasn't trying, I had a mirena coil! (32)

Then had prem menopause at 35 so just as well.

NaturalBaby · 27/01/2014 22:12

ds1 took a few months, 3 I think
ds2 and ds3 straight away.

TimeToPassGo · 27/01/2014 22:05

Yep. Use ovulation sticks, also use Pre-Seed or a similar lubricant if you think you're not making as much EWCM as you used to old gimmer me

ShoeSmacking · 27/01/2014 22:05

A gynaecologist told me that the numbers are averaged hence the theory that it takes 6-12 months. But really, most fertile healthy couples, having sex at the right time, are pregnant within 3 months. For those who aren't, it will most likely take 18 months or more.

shatteredstudentmum · 27/01/2014 22:03

First time was 3 months, second 2 months, in my 30s both times

notso · 27/01/2014 21:59

DC1 and DC4 both unplanned. Missed pills with DC1 and miscalculated injection with DC4.

DC2 took 3 months but had to wait nearly 18 months for periods to start beforehand as had been on injection for ages.
DC3 had coil out in Feb was pg in March.

JenBehavingBadly · 27/01/2014 21:59

Two accidents. I cough and I get pregnant. DH and I are very, very, very careful.

nickymanchester · 27/01/2014 21:57

SaltySeaBird

I know what you mean, although I was luckier than you.

First pregnancy trying for about a year and then found out it was non-viable followed by a D&C. The doctors said to wait a few months but I wasn't going to do that and very luckily got pregnant straight away.

thenoodlemachine · 27/01/2014 21:51

First go. Twice.

LightTripper · 27/01/2014 21:50

2 months, aged 38, using home insemination... Fair to say we were quite surprised how fast it worked!!
