Allo ladies! Wondering if there are any other over 35's (apparently the age of fertility suicide, who knew?) ttc for over a year wanting to chat? If so, pour yourself some virtual wine and let the chatting commence!

Hello all,

Mad busy week!! Well we managed to dtd on Tuesday and Thursday and haven't had the positive opk yet, will be testing shortly. So dtd tonight, tomorrow and then Monday depending on when I get a positive. Normally ov on CD15 but already cd14 and other than a bit of ewcm today, no signs so far... odd...

How is everyone doing?? So did dh travel to you ginger? Hopefully you made it in time!!

Been a busy day today, out to the shops with dd, then lunch at my sister's new restaurant followed by dd's horse-riding lesson and then home, just feels like a long day. I don't feel too bad though because I stood and ironed for over 2 hours last night - yuck!! Hope everyone is ok.

Gingerbreadlady1 · 22/02/2014 17:22

I am purple although not feeling very confident this month, not sure if we missed our window despite Herculean effort. And it's been a bfn every other month when we've shagged like rabbits at the right time! Positive opk wed at 2pm, neg that night & it was Thursday night before we got together to dtd. Thinking it may have been too late.

How's everyone getting on? Very quiet on here. Or has everyone just got a way better social life than me?

Are you officially on the 2ww now ginger?

Hows everyone else doing?

I'm living vicariously until I can get back in the game.

purplemurple1 · 20/02/2014 21:18

It's cheapies of Amazon for me.

Sparrowlegs248 · 20/02/2014 18:53

Might have to order some opks then - any particular recommendations?

PaulaFletch14 · 20/02/2014 18:11

Hi stubborn

I'm 40 in six months and my DP is 44, had a silent miscarriage in December and so scared that was my only chance . TTC again but my heart isn't really in it I want the baby I lost. But given my age no time to waste.

Glad there are older ladies out there as I was beginning to think I was alone.Grin

Katnisscupcake · 20/02/2014 18:10

I second what the others have said about opks. I buy the cheap ones on ebay. 30 opks and 5 hpts for just over £3, with free postage.

purplemurple1 · 20/02/2014 15:57

I use opks initially because I travelled a lot for work but as it turned out I wasn't ovulating at all it was good to find that out early. Now it's good to know if my tablets are working. It's worth a check to understand your cycle I think.

Gingerbreadlady1 · 19/02/2014 22:16

Hi stubborn, don't be nervous, we're a good bunch and all in the same position of ttc. It's just our circumstances that vary.

Try not to freak ( i know! i know! It's very difficult not to) however a couple of months is really early days. Sure given your fertility goddess status Smile everything will be fine. You've done it before so it will happen again

Hello....(tiptoes in nervously)
I've been on MN for years, and if I'd ever thought I'd find myself on the TTC threads...! 4 years ago all my woes were about the problems of having a baby on my own, after having conceived, pretty flukeishly, during a brief fling. In fact, over the years, I've accidentally got PG several times while using contraception, so have always been convinced that I'm some kind of Goddess of Fertility.

Now, finally, I have met Mr Right. And we've been trying for a couple of months. And nothing's happened. And he's 46, and I'm going to be 40 in three weeks. And I'm freaking right out....Sad

Gingerbreadlady1 · 19/02/2014 21:59

Thanks ladies, lagoona, thank you, I love hearing success stories!

Think we're (mental?!?) gonna go for it, the train is a good option (cheaper & less hassle) and yes I can stay out overnight so would keep us in the running this month. God! The lengths we go to!!

notta, I use opk's or the clear blue fertility monitor. It's brilliant for letting you know when ov is imminent so you can concentrate your efforts. Lets be honest, who can be arsed dtd every other night every month!

Sparrowlegs248 · 19/02/2014 21:49

Thats good to hear Lagoon and lovely to hear sucess stories!!

gingerbread can you not stay over at the hotel with hubby and manage an evening and morning dtd? Fab that he's happy to make the trip!! I would definitely give it a shot if you can and good luck.

I am wondering what to do now. Just make more effort with dtd more frequently, try opks or just get a clear blue fertility moniter. Or go to GP as i will be on cycle 10 this time. Hmm.

Do you all use opks?

Lagoonablue · 19/02/2014 20:51

Just dropping in to give you hope ladies. I had DD 1 at 43 and DS at 47! No fertility treatment just lots of planned DTD, temping, charting and OV sticks. DD1 took 3 months and DS1 took 12 months.

It can be done, don't give up or get despondent. Good luck.

purplemurple1 · 19/02/2014 20:31

Hi willow I'm doing ok thanks, are you managing to rest?

purplemurple1 · 19/02/2014 20:30

I'd get him to come up esp if you're still away next month as well.

Katnisscupcake · 19/02/2014 20:13

Of course I means no help!!! Not no hope...

Katnisscupcake · 19/02/2014 20:12

Oh gingerbread that's a tricky one!! How realistic is it that your dh could get to you and that you could sneak out without being missed. If it was me I would give it a miss but, and this is a massive BUT, I'm not using Clomid, which puts a totally different spin on it. In the early days I think I would have done anything, but after 2 years I'm starting to lose a bit of hope anyway so would probably eat a big bar of chocolate instead!!!

Sorry hun, I'm clearly no hope at all... Blush

Gingerbreadlady1 · 19/02/2014 19:33

Hi ladies , we've got a lovely bunch on here now Smile. Sorry I've been absent of late but away for work so Internet access very limited! I really need some fast time advice so hoping a few of you are on line tonight. Here goes....

Away from home for 2 weeks (no choice), was hoping to catch ov at the weekend but typically, it's came early, for the first time ever I have a normal cycle! I'm on 6mths clomid, this is month 2. Had great ewcm yesterday & today. And bloomin +opk today. Oh had said he will drive 3 1/2hrs & stay in a hotel so I can sneak away tomorrow (on residential course) to dtd. Is this madness? I really don't want to miss out a month as 6 months is all we get. What should we do!!! Help a crazy lady please!

Hi I want to say thanks for supportive msgs.
Purple - how are you now?
Kat - you have been thru a lot and are still standing!
:-)

Sparrowlegs248 · 19/02/2014 18:15

Hello all, thanks for your supportive replies. I don't know when i ovulate. We dtd 1 - 3 times per week, but only occasionally 3 and often the two times will be saturday and sunday so could easily be missing the boat every time. I have 25 day cycles so am thinking of trying every other day from 6 - 16. Should cover ovulation that way shouldn't I? I'd happily dtd more often and i think DH would too but somehow we don't get round to it. Sounds pathetic!!

Feeling AF is on her way - due friday but crampy today....... Grrr.

purplemurple1 · 19/02/2014 14:50

Hi linda welcome to the coop,

I drank copious amounts of wine last night and had a good old natter and cry with my sis, and today I have been blaming my sickness and need for painkillers on the mc but I'm not sure how true that really is tbh. Lovely MIL sent me cakes this monring and is making us dinner tonight as well (she knows as we were away together at the weekend and I wasn't drinking).

Lindalove · 19/02/2014 14:16

Wow I'm a super old bird and TTC first baby... I'm 38 though fit & healthy in most ways. I just wasn't ready for it up til now and will deal with it if it doesn't happen.... anyway the headline to this chat made me laugh as yes I'd like to join the coop!

Katnisscupcake · 19/02/2014 09:55

Also, with us, the DTD isn't too bad because Blush DH is quite quick. Never thought I'd be relieved about that!! LOL - So glad he can't come on and read this!! Shock

Katnisscupcake · 19/02/2014 09:54

Purplemurple, eat something you shouldn't and watch something that will allow you to cry openly (something from Jane Austen always does it for me) and things will slowly start to get better. Big Unmumsnetty hugs to you.

Sizethree, sorry AF arrived hun. Good plan for this month though. That is usually my plan (starting on day 8) hence my panic yesterday when I realized it was already CD10. So we've decided to omit the 'every other day' and go for every day now until OV since I normally OV on CD14-CD15 so it doesn't leave many 'attempts'.

I normally OV within 12 hours of my +OPK aswell so not a lot of time to hang around.

NB: Remember that from when you get your +OPK, you have anything between 12 and 36 hours to DTD. In my case though it's always 12. My OPK is always a very obvious negative the next morning, even if I've got a very strong positive the night before!!

sizethree · 19/02/2014 09:04

'Personal happy time' keeps making me giggle. I'll need to warn DH off that too!
My dreaded AF arrived yesterday so back to square one. We're going to try the SMEP plan this month. Basically it involves DTD on day 8, and every second day until you get a positive OPK. DTD for 3 days straight when positive OPK result, one day off then one for luck.
So this month is going to be rather sex heavy! Will need some Kendal mint cake or protein shakes!
Hope everyone has a good Wednesday. Been a tough week for us so far. X
