Allo ladies! Wondering if there are any other over 35's (apparently the age of fertility suicide, who knew?) ttc for over a year wanting to chat? If so, pour yourself some virtual wine and let the chatting commence!

Ooh, by the way, forgot to say congratulations, mampam! Brilliant news!

As for the job, there's no reason why you couldn't accept it. If it feels right, go for it!

TawdryTatou · 16/03/2014 18:29

AF due on 22nd. Should I test on Tuesday or wait?

mampam · 16/03/2014 18:20

Hi all Smile

Katniss Your Vax bargain has put a big smile on my face!! I love it when things like this happen although I can't say I've ever had that much of a bargain Wink

Ginger it was me who mentioned the Zita West book, it's an interesting read and much of what she says really does make sense. Hope it works for you too Smile

On Friday our oven broke down, DH insisted he could fix it which he did for all of about 20 minutes before it packed up again. Yesterday the washing machine started puffing out clouds of white smoke that smelt like burning plastic or rubber!! Just waiting for appliance No3 to go on the blink today!! Just to top off an odd week at work as we had an Ofsted inspection.

More positively I got asked to interview for the job I applied for Grin now I'm feeling guilty. I haven't accepted or declined yet and need to let them know first thing tomorrow. What would you do realistically if you were me? Part of me wants to do the interview anyway but then the other half thinks what's the point as I wouldn't be able to take the job if offered to me......... would I?

Tranquilitybaby · 16/03/2014 15:44

katniss hope I didn't upset you with my posting, wouldn't want to do that Hun xx hope you're ok xx

gingerbreadlady1 - I did a test earlier - bfn. I did post it on canyouseealine but don't know how to do a link from my phone? Tbh think we missed the boat with OV as it was in the midst of seeing the doctor about genetic testing, then I freaked out a bit and when I calmed down think it was too late to start anyway.

Good luck to you though! Go go!

X

Katniss, don't give up. My friend got pregnant in the 6th cycle after her lap. Research says the boost to fertility can last as long as a year.

Katnisscupcake · 15/03/2014 20:10

I'm clearly the wrong person to ask tranquility because I've got everything wrong this month!!! I never used to spot until after the miscarriage I had in July 2012, then it happened every month, some earlier than others.

I would give it a couple of days and see what happens... xxx

Tranquilitybaby · 15/03/2014 20:06

I'm on CD24 (I'm usually a 26-28 day cycle girl, although last month was 24 days) & this morning has a slight pink discharge after wiping when I had first morning wee. That's not normal for me, I usually get period pain and come on pretty much full flow red blood straight away.

Any thoughts? X

Tranquilitybaby · 15/03/2014 20:02

Ah sorry to hear that katnisscupcake :( xxxx here's to next month for you.

Katnisscupcake · 15/03/2014 19:18

Evening every one!!

Well the witch turned up about 30 mins after my last post!! Oh well at least it was bang on 14 days so my luteal phase is working ok!! Clearly being more fertile after a lap and dye didn't work for me because I'm into my 5th month post op and nada!!!

One bit of good news though (not baby related), went to Asda today and they had a vax steam mop in their reduced section for £40. Thought it was a bargain down from £100.

Dh paid for the shopping and thought the bill was cheap. When I looked, they'd charged us 40p!!!!!!!!

Grin Grin

Sorry to hear that Katniss. I take it you are not temping? I'm not- I don't have the will or the patience! Plus DH has hidden my thermometer as he thought it was adding to my stress. Don't know whether to kick him or kiss him for doing that. But you do sometimes wonder 'have I really ovulated this month'? I guess the only way to confirm then is a blood test- I had my day 21 test a year ago but it did confirm ov that cycle.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Katnisscupcake · 15/03/2014 08:45

Morning everyone,

Well, af due today but signs all gone. However also not pg because ultra-early test is negative. So after all the stress and worry with ov ing late, looks like I probably didn't ov at all!!!

Apparently this happens around once a year for the average woman and the only way to confirm is if you're temping because you don't get the temp rise. Apparenevening if you don't ov you still get the ewcm and positive opks. Just means that the cycle is much longer, so now I've got to wait for af to turn up so that the next cycle can start.

Yawn...

Hope everyone else is ok.

Sparrowlegs248 · 14/03/2014 18:02

I've used the bowen therapy on my horse! Not for fertility mind. Hes aboy. With no testicles.

mampam · 14/03/2014 17:52

I'd be interested to know what the Bowen Technique is too Smile

Fankletastic · 13/03/2014 12:50

MamPam- I do like hearing stories like that. If I do ever get pregnant and manage to pop one out, I swear I will not go back to using contraceptives afterwards. And if I get pregnant v soon afterwards, then bloody hurrah!!! Bring it on!

I've tried acupuncture, reflexology, Chinese herbs, abdominal massage, Bach flower remedies, reiki, yoga, meditation- but never heard of the Bowen technique. Will have to investigate. Although I do think you can send yourself loopy trying all the alternatives, and spend a ton of money in the process. The desire to have children can send us off down many a garden path searching for the magic cure. I don't think there is one. It will happen when and if it's meant to happen. You've just got to try your level best to keep your head (even when your heart is breaking). If any of these alternatives help you to do that then bash on!

Katnisscupcake · 13/03/2014 07:49

Morning all,

Fankle, I thought the same when I read that article. Plus it kept saying 34-39 and I'm 40 in June so that put my off aswell... Semantics I know but I guess when you're really low about something the pessimism comes out, on a better day I would have been optimistic about the article.

So I emailed the Acupuncturist last night and she's come back to me this morning and she only works Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. That doesn't help me when my days off are Friday, Saturday and Sunday!!! So I may have to go down the Reflexology route.

Alternatively a friend of a friend does the 'Bowen Technique' I've never heard of it but apparently that's supposed to help and my friend is seeing her friend today so will get me a leaflet.

I guess anything will help...

Tawdry, I would agree with Ginger in that it is a bit too early for symptoms. I try not to symptom spot anymore because all the ones I've had when getting BFPs have been the same that you have when AF is coming. Plus bear in mind that things like nausea, tiredness etc don't kick in until 6 weeks, when the HCG levels are flying high!! Smile

mampam · 13/03/2014 05:31

Goodluck with your appointment Fankle don't look upon it as a failure to conceive but a means to getting the results you want. My best friends cousin conceived with IVF and had beautiful twin boys, she assumed that she could never conceive naturally yet 11 months later she gave birth to a baby girl! It would seem that the IVF kick started her body's fertility and now she really has her hands full Grin

Katniss definitely try the acupuncture, it's worth a go even if just for a relaxing hour or so each week Smile

Gingerbreadlady1 · 12/03/2014 22:56

tawdry, by my reckoning your bfp will be due 21-24 so would be too early for symptoms I think, however there seems to be no hard rules in this game!

OP posts:
Tranquilitybaby · 12/03/2014 22:34

mampam it's a sperm friendly lubricant that lots of people seem to be using and get BFP with! Have a google, Amazon sell it x

Fankletastic · 12/03/2014 21:32

Sorry you've had a depressing day Katniss. You're entitled to wallow and treat yourself if it makes you feel a bit better.

Think I've been a bit quiet on here recently. Nothing wrong, just busy and trying not to obsess/ freak out this month. Lots of pregnancy announcements and a birth announcement too, which is great, but always makes me think 'when will it be me'? Very pleased to hear about your BFP Mampam...seems you have no trouble conceiving. Lucky you!

I've got my appointment with the FC on Monday so a bit apprehensive about where we go from here. I think the only option for us now is assisted conception so I just have to let that sink in. And try to think if it as a positive thing and not a failure to conceive naturally.

I read that article that Earhat mentioned. While it is encouraging for us older ladies, the fact remains that some people - whether 26 or 36 years of age- still struggle to conceive. The woman that wrote that article was clearly still very fertile in her late 30's and seemed to have no trouble conceiving. That's not the case for everyone.

Sometimes I wish I had a crystal ball! Maybe I'll miraculously regain my fertility upon turning 35 next week!! Fingers crossed :-)

TawdryTatou · 12/03/2014 20:06

I'm sure it'll be ok, Paula. It'll put your mind at rest.
