Allo ladies! Wondering if there are any other over 35's (apparently the age of fertility suicide, who knew?) ttc for over a year wanting to chat? If so, pour yourself some virtual wine and let the chatting commence!

Morning all,

Tranquility, OV occurs between 12 and 36 hours after +OPK, so DTD again tonight and then you should be about done - I don't know about you but it always comes as a relief to me!!! We DTD on Saturday night and then I took Piriton and managed to get a well-earned sleep.

I really hope that your Mum and Dad's tests go OK tomorrow.

Inshock, I was looking into the acupuncture but the lady I was going to said that I would need an appointment every week during my cycle and there was no way I could afford to do that. So I have decided against it for now...

Hope everyone else is OK.

Tranquilitybaby · 31/03/2014 07:20

Morning ladies how are we all? I had a fab weekend and can't wait for the Easter Hols now. Mum and dad have their tests at the hospital tomorrow so hoping for good news from those although I guess they'll be a few weeks wait before we know.

CD15 for me and I had v positive OPK yesterday afternoon so we dtd last night. How many more days should we carry on for to make sure we've covered OV? X

stubbornstains · 30/03/2014 18:15

Oh, I never saw the bit about having been trying for a year too! Duh! Hope I can stay?

Having said that, I'm well in the 2ww now, so shall be skulking off to hide and Not Think About It. But after all, it's fine, it doesn't matter, because surely nobody wants a BFP this cycle? Christmas babies? No siree!

spinningirl10 · 30/03/2014 12:21

Inshock...the acupuncture sounds fab! I'll be interested to see if it works for you, fx :)

mampam · 30/03/2014 10:24

Inshock that sounds amazing. Seems like the acupuncturist (is that even a word? Hmm ) knows what she's talking about. How often do you have to go? With my last pg I had really painful spd and was on crutches. I had acupuncture once a week and it really helped. I even managed a trip to the cinema with the kids which was such an achievement - 1 hour drive to cinema, sitting during the film and hours drive home - at one point it would have been impossible for me to sit for that amount of time without being in agony.

Tranquilitybaby · 29/03/2014 20:53

kegirl my daughter had follicular is from a hot tub and Fucidin cream cleared it but it did take two weeks. Hope it settles soon xx

Tranquilitybaby · 29/03/2014 20:51

lifehas hello and welcome, this is my favourite thread on here, everyone's so lovely. X

inshock of I'm gutted for you :(
I've heard acupuncture can really help as can reflexology so best of luck to you with it.

Thank you girls, I didn't want to leave, you're all lovely.

I peed on a stick earlier and got two lines so must OV later than I thought. X

Inshock73 · 29/03/2014 19:04

Just wanted to update you all...

So, as you know AF got me this morn...bitch!!! After having my monthly meltdown which this time meant taking myself back to bed, pulling the duvet over my head and sobbing, then telling my DP he's not trying hard enough and doesn't care enough, before finishing off with looking at all the new photos my friends have put on FB of their newborns over the last month, after all that I got up and went for my acupuncture appt. I've found a place that specialises in fertility acupuncture, I'm keeping an open mind, half of my brain is thinking 'seriously?? how can it make a difference?' and the other half is thinking 'who knows, if IVF clinics strongly recommend it when having IVF and it increases the success rates maybe there's something in it' As a newbie to acupuncture it was fascinating, the acupuncturist told me I need to increase my iron levels and we will be working on increasing the length/flow of period, nourishing the uterus and increasing the length of LP phase, it's currently 11-12 days. Feeling a little excited and optimistic :)

Hope everyone's having a good weekend! x

KEGirlOnFire · 29/03/2014 17:55

Inshock and Ginger, so sorry the bitch got you both... feel free to wallow for a bit, I felt rubbish about it last month...
So I am in agony with this itching... it's rubbish!! I spent most of Friday in tears so ended up going back to the gp. He confirmed what I thought, it is NOT scabies. It is a skin infection called folliculitis where all the hair follicles have become infected. I now have another load of antibiotics ( the same ones I had last time for my hand) and some antibiotic steroid cream aswell.

On the plus side I got a very strong positive opk today so will dtd for the last time this month tonight and then can start on the piriton tomorrow. Finally!!! We managed to dtd on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Friday will be tonight aswell so hopefully that will have been enough.

Tranquility, please don't leave us!!!! Sad

Lifehas, welcome honey!!! We''re a friendly bunch on here and are all coping with various levels of issues with a few success stories.

How is everyone else? Thank you all for your 'stop the itch' suggestions. I've actually gone for e45 itch relief which does help. Looking forward to taking the piriton though in the hope that it gives me the extra help I need.

Right, off to apply more cream - the joys!!

lifehasafunnywayofhelpinguout · 29/03/2014 12:52

Hi In shock and gingerbread lady. Thank you for the welcome. Sorry A.F got u Inshock. I am also out this month my last period was 18-21 march but at least that means more fun practicing. xxx

Gingerbreadlady1 · 29/03/2014 12:16

Hi lifehas welcome to our little group. Hopefully you'll find some support and at times a shoulder to cry on here and some laughs!

tranquility don't you dare leave us! We all have different circumstances here. We're all slightly older mums to be (pma!!!) looking for a little community to share the journey with. We're not a clique with hard & fast rules!!! No one cares (as long as you're not secretly 21, that might be a stretch!).

mampam & anyone else, please feel free to join in the chat (or lurk if that's your preference).

inshock, I'm so sorry AF got you, if we had them it'd be a right kick in the nuts. I took it quite hard this month also, feels a bit hopeless at times but I'm beginning to look to next month & feel more positive. Big hug Thanks & enjoy some Wine this weekend xxx

I'm out this month too! Feeling very sorry for myself as secretly had a good feeling this month. I'm going to give acupuncture a try next, I've read good things about it and they recommend acupuncture whilst having IVF apparently it increases the success rate so got to be worth a try.

A hug and a glass of wine to you Ginger x

Welcome back mampam :)

Don't worry Tranqulity you're very welcome to stay. x

Welcome Lifehas :)

lifehasafunnywayofhelpinguout · 28/03/2014 22:33

Long story which I'd rather not go in to but we've officially been trying since October. I suffered a chemical pregnancy in September last year. I have been blessed with my gorgeous D.D born 99 and I have a beautiful angel who was due to be here in 98. I am 38. I do sometimes worry that I have left it too late to have more children but we're having fun trying. xxx

Tranquilitybaby · 28/03/2014 22:20

Oh no gingerbread :( xxxx hugs

I've just read read your original post again and realised I don't belong on this thread as only just started TTC no 3. So sorry, I just read is as TTC at 35 or over, not the over a year part. So sorry x

Tranquilitybaby · 28/03/2014 22:17

Thank you Inshock, lovely words about not being able to solve other people's problems and that a baby would be a ray of sunshine, you're absolutely right, made me tear up, very true. Thank you. So many suffer in silence with anxiety, it's nice to share my fears with you lovely lot. X

Gingerbreadlady1 · 28/03/2014 22:00

The bitch is back. I'm out this month!

mampam · 28/03/2014 19:16

Hi Inshock I'm still lurking Smile Lots of things being said on this thread that I don't feel I know enough about to comment on i.e. how it feels when friends announce their pregnancies. I've been lucky/blessed to have 3 DC, not to say I haven't been through the mill........my life has been a struggle in many ways (will tell you about it one day). I do feel for everyone and I'm always reading the posts even when I don't post for a few days.

Tranquility and KEGirl Hope all the tests go well, will be keeping my fx for you and your dd's, and your parents Tranquility.

Tranquility I suffer with anxiety and panic attacks and have done since the birth of my DS (10). It's horrible and something that never goes away but I've learned to deal with it day to day and I have strategies/coping mechanisms so can usually stave off a panic attack. Seems to be worse with PMS.

KEGirl How are the scabies??? Grin I knew a woman who caught scabies whilst in Torbay Hospital having DC #2, was about 10 years ago though.

Your cakes are amazing btw.

Stubborn who said romance was dead!!? Grin

I started seeing a Chiropractor (sp?) last week in a bid to combat the imminent spd as last time was on crutches it was so bad, so we'll see how it goes.
Nausea starting to kick in now, was nearly sick yesterday morning just because I looked in the fridge and saw some mashed potato that DH had put in there from previous night Hmm I love mash normally.

Bit the bullet and arranged my booking appt with MW. Going to sign in with a false name but one of colleagues had an appt this afternoon with MW and is 16weeks. Assuming that she won't be seeing the MW agoin in 2 weeks time so I should be safe from bumping into her Smile

spinningirl10 · 28/03/2014 18:54

kegirl Wow, love your cakes! Hope you enjoyed the cake show. Also hope it's not scabies and it clears up soon.

inshock and Ginger....hope af stays away!

I am 5dpo, it's so dull waiting.

Inshock73 · 28/03/2014 17:42

If we have any lurkers on this thread or ladies who now have a BFP and occasionally pop on but don't post give us an update!

Inshock73 · 28/03/2014 17:36

Happy Friday!

KEGirl Scabies??? Isn't that a really old rarely heard of disease? Hope you're getting better and your daughters tests go well. My little niece has scoliosis and recently had an op to have metal rods inserted in to her spine, bless her she's got lots of ops in the future.

Tranquility Hope you and your family are ok too. I've suffered with anxiety in the past, at one stage it was so bad I had to quit a job because I was struggling to leave the house. Fortunately I pulled through it but I have so much sympathy for anyone who suffers with it, it's a bastard. I found when I spoke about it to other people they would then confide in me and admit they suffered with anxiety or depression. It's really important to look after yourself as well as looking after other people. My anxiety was started by my (now ex) boyfriend having a breakdown, I looked after him, he got better, I became ill, very common. Take time out for yourself and remember you can't solve everyone else's problems for them, you can support but you can't solve. x and it's a great time to be pregnant! It would be a little ray of sunshine :)

Stubborn That sounds like the conversations I have with DP, they normally finish with him telling me he feels used and he's not a piece of meat :)

Mel Enjoy your weekend! Apparently alcohol before OV doesn't count :)

I'll be crotch watching along with Ginger over the weekend, cd27 today, rather intrigued this month, had a few pre AF symptoms but they've disappeared....I'm sure they'll find me again.

MelMc73 · 28/03/2014 14:40

We used to call Baywatch "crotch watch" lol

Gingerbreadlady1 · 28/03/2014 13:12

Lol stubborn!!!!

mel sounds like you have a lovely weekend planned, I'm working boooo!

Crotch watch continues.....

MelMc73 · 28/03/2014 10:09

Happy Friday everyone Wine....just catching up on the thread after a couple of days hiding with AF pains! Almost back to normal then I can get back on the horse and try again. I am actually riding a real horse tomorrow as well......

Pmsl at "crotch watch" ginger!

Phone app says I should OV next weekend so I hope my opk thingies arrive soon from Amazon.

KEgirl get some Oilatum cream for the itching.....it's really good. It's not an antihistamine, you can get it in most chemists. They do a bath lotion and a shower gel as well. I use it as I get dry itchy skin and it works.

So what's everyone up to at the weekend then?

Tranquilitybaby · 28/03/2014 06:46

Kegirlonfire I really feel for you and I hope the resorts are back for your dd v soon and that all is ok. Limbo is a horrible place to be xxx

Tranquilitybaby · 28/03/2014 06:44

Thanks ladies I really appreciate it. Off with dd this morning for the bloods.

I googled to see if any info on the One Step OV tests I have, general consensus is they're not v sensitive do I might just ditch them as they're stressing me out, so much so that that I didn't want to DTD last night as thought there was no point, kind of feel like someone's trying to tell me that this isn't a good time to be pregnant right now. :( sorry for the miserableness (is that a word?)
