dd has a friend at school called "maureen"

ffs how can you look at your baby and think maureen? i always think of driving school lol Saying that though the name really suits her!

My boys' names aren't that wanky though one is quite unusual and more common among 50 year olds, so people are sometimes surprised to see a small blond thing respond.

Maude and Blanche - sounds as if someone had been reading "Persuasion". Though I think Maud in "Persuasion" has the more usual 'e'-less spelling.
