Also random question, but those who have had reflexology does it tickle your feet? Not sure id be able to sit still for it!

Tigsy · 26/01/2014 10:49

In terms of apps I have fertility friend and pink pad. I don't temp but find fertility friend very user-friendly. I used opks this month and actually found it reduced the stress somewhat for me, as I wasn't constantly thinking 'could it be now etc?'
I hasn't intended to use opks as always had really regular cycles but last month was all over the place, so thought this would give me a better idea of what's been going on.
Feeling much more able to handle the 2ww this month (she says only 4 days in ?? )but I think that could be because life generally is a bit better for us this month.
Not long until the February bus departs ladies!

barmybunting · 26/01/2014 10:45

mum2kiss I am driving back to aldi shortly to buy the raw manuka honey, I am liking your evening drink idea!

treacle are you near a local college or anything where the students might do reflexology as part of their training? My mum goes to the local college once a week for reflexology as part of treatment for depression and pays £5 for an hour long session as the students are in the final elements of their training, but supervised by a qualified reflexogists all the time. She does this in between monthly treatments with the normal person she goes to who recommended the college to her as she is one of the trainers. It might be worth a go? Or perhaps have a look at gumtree? I tried that route but couldn't find anyone locally as we are fairly rural.

Treaclepie19 · 26/01/2014 10:28

mum2kiss that's brilliant haha.
My DH was shocked with the NUDP and now finds it hilarious... However he did remind me to do it yesterday. I think he's going as cuckoo as me.
May have to pop out and get some manuka...

kitty I'm considering it too! Just don't know if I can afford it.

KittyVonCatsington · 26/01/2014 10:22

Reflexology appointment booked for next Saturday. Any excuse for a good old massage me Wink

mum2kiss · 26/01/2014 09:49

Ive started have hot honey and lemon as an evening drink....and ive got dp drinking it too! He has no clue why I keep offering it but I figured it cant hurt both of us drinking it!

missmrsmummy · 26/01/2014 09:28

Thanks ladies! I am quite keen to give reflexology a go. I'm usually very uptight and tense from work (teaching) so even if it just helps me unwind a little it's worth it.

Also going to get the honey today! I'll be eating it on everything!

sazzle such an exciting time for you (smile) hope the appointment tomorrow is useful!

barmybunting · 26/01/2014 08:45

That sounds good sazzle, it was well worth it if it helped you feel like that! I'm looking forward to going next week.

I'm glad you're doing ok Smile . I can understand your concern over all the twinges after everything, I am sure they are a normal part of the pregnancy, you are doing the right thing trying not to focus on them. I imagine it will be good for you to get to the doc on Monday to chat about it all more and get some reassurance.

sazzlehopes · 26/01/2014 08:33

Haha, we keep cross posting Barmy! Good thanks, trying to let it sink in slowly. Doc apt on monday so it'll be nice to get the ball rolling. I feel fine though, no symptoms still - but i had none with first. Little twinges every now and then which I'm trying not to over think and panic about!

sazzlehopes · 26/01/2014 08:24

Barmy - she wasn't a specialist as such, more a reflexologist with interest/specialism in fertility issues. I think it sounds like a great thing for you to go to. It was a little like therapy at the beginning - she chatted 'issues' through with me and it felt good to be open about things - much like it does on here! I felt really relaxed as soon as I met her - she was lovely, friendly but not overly 'hippy'. She talked about cycle etc and what my periods were like, how they started, any clots etc. So I think if you are having trouble with cycles they would help try and sort that too.

barmybunting · 26/01/2014 08:19

You beat me to your answer before my question sazzle Smile . That's what happens when I type an essay!

How are things?

barmybunting · 26/01/2014 08:17

I use fertilityfriend, but it seems to be mainly for if you temp chart (I don't) but I didn't want to start again once I started using it so it does the job. It can also be based on opks or natural signs of ov if you put the info it. Currently however, it is predicting one of 20 days as ov day for me next cycle as my cycle is all over the place.

missmrs various websites I looked at for reflexologists mentioned the things they worked on and fertility/hormonal/menstrual cycle came up with a few of them. I had been intending to try it during pregnancy anyway as it's meant to be good for helping with pain etc as well so I just decided I may as well give it a go now. My main reason for going is an attempt to try to regulate my cycle as I've had cycles between 28 and 60 days, and oved between cd14 and cd43 in the last five cycles! I chose one who mentioned fertility and pregnancy, and when I spoke to her explained what it was for and she explained more about it. Whether it will help regulate things is another question, but I tend to get quite worked up about things and worry a lot in general, and having recently moved hundreds of miles from family and friends, and started a new job with a daily hour commute each way which I'm very nervous about (job, not commute but don't like that bit either), I figured anything that made me relax a bit and thus didn't make ttc feel stressy was worth a go!

Sorry, you now have my life story but the reflexology bit is tied into all of it hence going for it Smile .

I think when sazzle used one last cycle, it was a specialist fertility one. Is that right sazzle?

sazzlehopes · 26/01/2014 08:17

missmrs - i just went to see a reflexologist but she did specialise in fertility issues. I think you can always ask - it is just working on specific points on your feet, in this case she worked hard around my ankles as that is where your ovaries are... They normal just massage your feet looking for any niggles or problems and then work on those bits accordingly. So it is an all over foot massage with attention paid to specific pressure points if that makes sense?

pebble82 · 25/01/2014 23:37

I use ovufriend but it's a website not an app (I have a rubbish phone!)

As for OPKs I'm not sure if I'll use them next month. I got obsessed this month and never got a clear positive even when i tested 3 times a day. I got a stronger negative but wrote it off so could have missed the window. Now looking back at cm monitoring, temp and web stats it must have been a positive as it tied in as being 1-2 days before OV.

We did almost everything right this month. SMEP plan (ish), peddling, opks, temping, website tracker, orgasm after DP, folic acid, vit D, no alcohol, reduced caffine. Hope that means BFP is inevitable.

missmrsmummy · 25/01/2014 23:30

knotty I'm only at the start of cycle 3 but I feel that opks might have put unnecessary pressure on us! I feel bad saying to DH that we have to DTD on certain days. Bit like I don't want to DTD for love but I'm using him!

Undecided whether to use them next month or not

Treaclepie19 · 25/01/2014 23:16

snowbells I use mydays :)
It is good for adjusting your cycle length as I've found this month!

Knottyknitter · 25/01/2014 23:08

Still feeling a bit rubbish, but DP took it all in his stride, big cuddles and out for curry this evening. Strangely after half a bottle of wine, the world looks a far more promising place!

Nothing to do until next week, between period and DP's business trip Hmm. What is the real view on opks ? Fab timing guide or this way leads madness and OCD shagging? Not very keen, as I think it will send me scatty, but what does the internets think?

mum2kiss · 25/01/2014 22:51

The one that charlie posted is the raw stuff :)

The other one is syrupy looking like normal honey you'd spread on toast etc...

missmrsmummy · 25/01/2014 22:35

I mean can any reflexologist focus on any particular health problem, so could I say I want to work on fertility?

missmrsmummy · 25/01/2014 22:34

Hi snowbells, I use period diary, it has a pink flower logo.

It's ok for tracking your periods and it predicts ovulation and next period, but it's only based on a 28 day cycle so if yours is longer or shorter you have to take that into account. I have a 24 day cycle but always ovulate 4 days later than it predicts! You can make useful little notes on each day as well.

Thanks for the tips sazzle I had a bad incident with ginger tea after swallowing it the wrong way once - though I was going to die! But may try again. Also I usually have a hot water bottle on my tummy all the time! I'm always cold and it's really comforting for me.

barmy it's easy for me to say I'll stop trying now as AF is here so no point obsessing. But as soon as she turns her back I'm sure I'll be off again looking at my app all the time and booking DH in for DTD sessions! I'd say I'm only obsessive for half the time :-p

Reflexology - are you going to a specialist fertility one? I have some beauty salon gift vouchers so could use them for that.
