So, here it is, Part 4! May it bring lots of BFP's for those of us still waiting and may it bring happy healthy pregnancies for those who are fabulously pregnant.

Swede, I hope you're OK today and you've had no more blood on wiping.

I hope you manage to find a suitable nanny.

Shame I'm not in Sweden is all I can say! High taxes there though, isn't it?

Chinese, I'm so sorry about your dad. Good luck in the 2WW.

Gingerbread, I agree with morerum, in that it will happen for you. I know it's hard to remain positive. And I agree with a white lie for the sake of your own sanity.

Hazy, how are you today?

Morerum, I had to stir baking powder into some cakes last time I was pregnant due to the same error. Easily done!

Glad your nipple is better! :-)

I've booked to see the midwife today as I'm having bad headaches and I'm so thirsty all the time. Thought I should see what she says. I was due to go next week, but as I'm 15+4 today I'm hoping she will try to hear the heartbeat for me!

DD slept for 13.5 hours out of 14 last night. She's not done that before! She only woke at 9.30 and 5.30 for a bottle. Shame I've been awake since she woke though. Sigh!

morerummorefun · 17/02/2014 09:12

good morning!
gingerbread please dont get disheartened it will happen for you im sure of it! â?¥
swede congratulations on the job and good luck finding a nanny. as for scanning at 7 weeks the would definitely see something xxx
chinese im so sorry for your lossThanks good luck in the 2ww baby some light at the end of the tunnel? xx
nipple has gone back to normal thankfully hazy lol xx
ive just made a batch of scones with plain flour so ended up some biscuity rubbish grrrr baby brain lol xx

GingerbreadBabyPlease · 16/02/2014 16:20

Sorry Chinese not a very nice start to the year for you. Good luck for your 2ww and glad you are starting to feel a bit better.

Swede we watched a programme the other night about Scandinavia, couldn't believe how long they get off for mat/pat leave, it is amazing, thinking about it I actually think even one year in the uk isn't enough, 18 months would be better!! My DH was very jealous that the dads get time off to, he would love to be a SAHD!!
I really hope it was nothing too. Maybe just a bit of left over blood? I have heard that can happen. Take it easy for these early weeks if you can, I realise with a new job and toddler that might be easier said than done, but try to get enough sleep if nothing else. I think they might be able to see something, enough to reassure you anyway hopefully. Fingers crossed until friday for you, hope you've had a nice mini break.

I didn't even notice the math Hazy! I suppose 8 months is only just on the outer limit of average, but it feels like such a lifetime, and with DD being conceived so quickly. I think I would just know sooner rather than later what we are dealing with, rather than getting my hopes up every month if there is a genuine/obvious problem that suggests it just won't happen. Does that make sense!?
DH is happy to go for tests, I think we will just have to deal with the issue of treatments if/when it comes to that and just play it by ear I suppose. For him, I suppose it depends how invasive they were.

HazyShadeOfWinter · 16/02/2014 14:47

Swede fx for you - as you say it does sound different. Did you have any spotting with your first pregnancy? I think you can see things from 7 weeks, at least according to this site

also apols for my bad math 9% is not 1 in 9, but less than 1 in 10. But general point still stands about being normal, gingerbread, and that if going to GP will make you feel more positive then you should go for it. How would your DH feel about getting tests rolling if he isn't up for treatment, though?

Hope your nipple is feeling better today rum...

SwedeAway · 16/02/2014 08:09

Hungry, we do have a part in the house that was made for live in but still, it's awkward having someone there all the time. People tend to recruit privately but there are agencies although it becomes much more expensive using one of those. I tend to go on recommendation which has worked in the past. Maternity leave here is pretty rubbish. By law you have to take a minimum of 6 weeks which is unpaid but you are entitled to take up to 6 months, all unpaid so most people can't afford that and only do the obligatory 6 weeks and yes nurseries take babies from 6 weeks. I can't imagine going back to work after only 6 weeks! I am lucky I guess in that my employer allows 4 months fully paid and an additional 2 months unpaid if you want. 4 months is certainly not long enough but I think I can live with it if I have a good nanny. So different to Sweden where you can basically stay at home on almost full pay for over a year.

On the farm at the moment. Going home in a bit, got a mountain of laundry at home awaiting meHmm

Had a scary day yesterday. When I went to the loo in the morning I saw some brownish (almost invisible) spots when I wiped. It was really faint but since I am looking for it, I could see it. I thought, here we go again...absolutely devastated. But, spent the whole day knicker spotting and, nothing. Checked first thing this morning and nothing so fx it was nothing. Still it totally threw me and I am obviously worried but last time when it started I had brown stuff every time I wiped from when I first discovered it so this seems different. Still, will speak to gyno tomorrow. My scan is on Fri but not sure i can wait that long. I should be around 7 weeks on tue or wed, so not sure if he would be able to see anything if he scanned then?

Sorry for long post.

Hello ladies...popping in again after a bit of a long absence. metal I'm so sorry about your news Thanks .

Congratulations to the bfps - swede, kt, hazy... (Sorry if I've missed anyone but posting on phone which makes scrolling back impossible!)

Bit of an eventful few weeks here. Had my dad's funeral at the end of January just as DS came down with chickenpox, had a week off with him and then at the end of the following week I came down with pox. I genuinely don't recall a time when I have felt quite so ill. Better now, though still really spotty.

2dpo and in the 2ww again.

GingerbreadBabyPlease · 15/02/2014 22:33

Metal I hope you are ok, and managing to enjoy your weekend XX

GingerbreadBabyPlease · 15/02/2014 22:32

Haha Rum that gave me a good giggle!!! Thank you for the hugs too! Although I hope they were fully clothed hugs...? Hmm

Hazy thank you, that does make me feel a bit better. I think I will still keep my appointment and see what the Dr says, hopefully she can reassure a bit too that it's all still within normal range! and tell me to stop being overdramatic

morerummorefun · 15/02/2014 22:27

big virtual hugs coming your way gingerbread xxx
I have the itchiest left nipple! Blush its that bad ive had to strip off! sorry if tmi but its murder!

HazyShadeOfWinter · 15/02/2014 22:04

meant to say transfer to another midwife!

HazyShadeOfWinter · 15/02/2014 22:03

Better I am so angry for you, what an irresponsible and unprofessional woman. Please do make a formal complaint if you have the strength. Certainly hope you can transfer to another appointment.

Gingerbread, we once googled the liklihood of getting pregnant and even on your most fertile days there's about a 9% chance. So I think, given its a 1 in 9 chance, that until you've done at least 9 cycles you're still within the odds, if that makes sense. Plus as someone pointed out upthread, we don't ovulate every cycle so throw in a few of them and you're well within range of normal. HOWEVER...if it's making you feel so bad and going to GP with a white lie will help you feel more in control and positive then go for it.

Metal, thinking of you Thanks

mrsm22 · 15/02/2014 21:17

Hi Better - I'm so sorry about your appointment with that dreadful midwife and I can't believe her attitude and lack of care and professionalism. Definitely make a formal compliant and get a new midwife. I am a little worried now about how my midwife will be in two weeks as she was so unfriendly last time I saw her.
Metal - I hope you're ok

GingerbreadBabyPlease · 15/02/2014 20:48

Hungry, yes I think I will tell a little white lie, but I also have concerns over my LP length, possible thyroid issues and general state of mind due to 8 months of disappointment to add to my list! God I'm a walking wreck at the moment, I do need to pull myself together. Please give me a good slap and talking to ladies, 8 months isn't really so long is it??? Hmm

How is everyone else tonight?

HungryHorace · 15/02/2014 06:34

I can imagine live in would be odd, Swede, unless you had a self contained annex so they didn't share your space.

Do you recruit yourself or use an agency?

What's maternity leave like over there?

And that's good re limiting the travel. Must be a relief that they're happy to accommodate you. They must have really wanted you :-)

Gingerbread, Fx you'll have a longer LP than before.

Up to a year is normal for someone your age though, even though that feels like forever. Are you going to tell a white lie to the GP if you have to go? Get tests started?

The weather sounds hideous again today. Not as bad as we had it the other night, but not good. :-/

GingerbreadBabyPlease · 14/02/2014 20:43

Better Shock I cannot believe someone who is a trained and trusted professional with the best interests and health of mother and baby would behave that way. She must have some serious issues! Definately write a letter of complaint, she needs to be dealt with so she can't be this complacent with anyone else. Very glad baby is ok, and you are too, and hope you get the treatment you deserve from now on!
Metal glad you are feeling a bit brighter, but I think you are right there will be up and down days. Only time will help, of sorts, I suppose. and chocolate. Lots of chocolate Grin
Swede congratulations on taking the new job, how exciting for you! Hope they are respectful of your wishes too re travelling. You're making me want to watch that programme! Don't miss the uk too much, I would much rather be where you are, it is soo cold and wet here at the moment.
We aren't doing anything tonight, went out for lunch but only as DH had a bonus day off, he's gone to work tonight though.
Yeh Hungry 5dpo is pretty rubbish isn't it, I'm just praying I can last another week or so before AF turns up to make my lp a bit longer. Not feeling at all confident anymore that I will get my bfp. 8 months is just too long for there to be nothing wrong.

morerummorefun · 14/02/2014 19:05

better thats awful! I would definitely be asking for another midwife! I hope you're ok xx

SwedeAway · 14/02/2014 18:28

Both I thinkWink

Swede is it supersized meals or people...? Grin

SwedeAway · 14/02/2014 18:20

Better, you must change midwife, that is so unprofessional!

Metal, glad to hear you are sort of ok today. Stay strong. You will have bad days and not so bad days. I felt much better once it was done and I could start focusing on ttc again.

Dd is asleep and I am watching Come Dine With Me Supersized (sad?) and missing the UK a bit.

nosleeptillbedtime · 14/02/2014 18:16

Betternotbitter, omg, my heart goes out to you. That is terrible. I really think you need to insist on another midwife. The one you have is a disgrace! All my best wishes to you in your pregnancy.

Metalhead · 14/02/2014 18:10

I'm ok today, thanks Better. I guess I'll be up down for a little while, at least until we can ttc again.

HungryHorace · 14/02/2014 17:59

Firstly, I'm glad you've been checked out and everything with baby is fine.

And you really, really, cannot see that midwife again. If I were you, I'd do a written complaint and ask to be transferred to somebody else's care. She isn't fit to do the job, IMO. And she may get even worse if she reads your notes. You need to think about your baby, and she is NOT the person to trust with its welfare / best interests at heart. /lecture over!

BetterNotBitter · 14/02/2014 17:57

Thanks metal but it's nothing compared to what you're going through, I really hope you're as ok as possible x

Metalhead · 14/02/2014 17:53

Wow Better, I can't believe your midwife! I think you should make a formal complaint and refuse to see her again, ask to be transferred to someone else. How awful! Some people simply should not be in any sort of caring profession.

DH and I aren't getting each other presents for Valentines this year, but we'll treat ourselves to the Waitrose meal deal and a movie tonight.

BetterNotBitter · 14/02/2014 17:35

Well the whole sorry tale is this. Obviously I've had this bleeding now everyday since 11 weeks. The 12 week scan showed baby was fine. Sonographer said give it 2 weeks then see midwife if it hadn't stopped. So at 14 weeks I went to see my midwife. I chose to be booked at a different hospital to the one she routinely works with as I had my last baby there and it's equal distance from our house with the other one anyway.

When I saw her at 14 weeks she didn't even check the water sample I took in, was super dismissive, told me to ring the hospital if I wanted when I got home but there was probably no point and they'd just tell me the same as her.

So today, at almost 17 weeks I went for my appt with her. A student midwife tested urine n said there were 2 red flags & it needed sending off for testing. My midwife took it, threw it in the bin & said 'it'll just be cos of the bleeding, we're not wasting the labs time' THEN I'd taken a pad I'd just taken off to show her the bleeding, she didn't even look, threw it straight in the bin THEN she said 'oh none of your blood test results from your booking in are here but I don't know how to find them out with you being booked at a different hospital, ask your consultant when you go, there might be something of concern in them!' (Bearing in mind, this is he consultant I should have seen from 6 weeks on who she 'forgot' to refer me to) THEN I asked her about he bleeding and said I was really concerned that I'd never had any bloods taken or swabs done or anything to try and find out why it's happening & it was making me really anxious as it's been everyday for 6weeks. She said 'it is strange, I haven't known it happen before, though I have heard of it. If you were booked at the other hospital I'd rush you in now for an emergent scan, but I don't deal with your hospital, it's probably nothing,' THEN she did my weight and said 'oh you've hardly put anything on, that's not a good sign, you do hear of growth problems in women with coeliacs, ask your consultant!' I then asked her to listen in for baby and she said it was too late as we'd ran over the appt time.

So needless to say I came out both furious and very worried, rang the hospital who told me to go straight in. I have a water infection for one, then a speculum showed a condition to do with my cervix which is at present fine, but could turn nasty and there are certain things to watch out for. It also alters the care plan, they couldn't believe she hadn't sent me there 3 weeks ago or even sent my water sample off. They did a scan and baby is fine, but they were furious at the midwife!

What a long self centred post, I'm sorry, ignore if you wish, just needed to get it off my chest!!
