  1. The year of the rainbow baby. We pledge to be positive (most of the time). We pledge to cry less, shag more and swear lots. This is the one wannamummabees!

The Rules...

(1) A lady may only POAS on a Friday.
(2) Friday means the day that everyone calls Friday in the time zone where you spent the night.
(3) Rule (1) does not apply to POA-OPK-S, UNLESS they are being illegitimately used as surrogate HCG detectors, in which case Rule (1) most definitely does apply
(4) Rule (1) does not apply following a BFP because if you want to waste £25 a day POADigiS that's your prerogative
(5) Rule (1) does not apply if a lady is POAS in an attempt to get a BFN to prove she can start DTD with intent
(6) Rule (1) does not apply if a lady wants for unknown reason to pee on an actual stick, like a twig or some such, if that lady is unexpectedly caught short whilst tramping in the forest looking for bears.
(7) These rules (including Rule (1)) are subject to the change at any time if the ladies of the Posifrickentivity thread decide on a whim come up with empirical evidence to prove that it is luckier to POAS on any other day of the week
(8) Violators of Rule (1) shall be subject to fish throwing.

And as a grand finale, why not pledge to NEVER POAS before 14DPO?

Sal, I've never heard of taking it before a BFP. Maybe pop over to the RMC board and ask the ladies there, several of them are currently on herapin. How cynical we are to second guess the medics, but wise, I think, given some of the bonkers advice some people seem to get. Good luck with it.

Sal1977 · 09/01/2014 16:51

She said for me to take it whilst TTC as taking it after a BFP could be too late.

Bit scary, but I guess another MC and IVF possibility is scarier. Think I just need to man up!!

Sal, do they mean from BFP? I know other RMC ladies who get it straight away, that seems to be the advice if clotting issues are part of the problem. Aspirin on its own I have heard mixed ideas about as some say it interferes with implantation so shouldn't be taken 'just in case'. However I was taking it last time and, although I did mc (Turner syndrome) it was not down to the aspirin or anything to do with implantation. Hope this helps?

Sorry, I can't remember who was asking about clinics in London, but, in case you don't know, UCLH (Euston) have an emergency gyne and EPU walk-in clinic (clinic 3, EAG Wing) weekdays and via A&E mornings on the weekends. They are excellent and will scan you within a couple of hours, arrange follow up and even sort out your ERPC if you should sadly need one. Much better than the local hospitals in my (sadly very extensive) experience, and they have 'top of their field' specialists if you need a second opinion - they normally get two gynes to look at your scan and then write to your GP with a full report.

Seasides · 09/01/2014 16:30

It's such a personal decision Sal, but I think I'd have them. It will, hopefully, only be for a short time, and yes, I think I'd wonder 'what if' too. I also assume (though Christ, who knows?) that docs don't hand them out willy-nilly if they don't think they'll help? Have you been warned of any dodgy side effects? Is it an epi-pen style injection, do you do them yourself?

Glad you've been offered a scan fairy, that's good news.

Sal1977 · 09/01/2014 15:24

Hello my lovelies!

I have a hypothetical question for you.

Consultant recommended this aspirin and heparin straight away as 3 out of 4 pg didn't make it to 6 weeks. I said yes to the aspirin as was a bit worried about the heparin jabs every day. I've since spoken to my MW friend who said they're nothing to worry about so I've now changed my mind. I think. I'm thinking that if I have another MC will I be thinking 'what if' about the heparin.

What would you do? X

Thanks for all the reassurance. I spoke to the dr who basically said the same thing. She also offered me a scan at 6 weeks to put my mid at rest which will be good but means I have to hang on til then.

wingandtalon · 09/01/2014 10:30

fairy When I was pregnant in June I had quite strong cramps around the time that AF was due. My GP also told me that it was everything stretching and nothing to worry about. However, I can understand why you're worrying. I'm sure that if we do get upduffed again I will be worrying about every tiny thing. Sending you lots of well wishes.

fedup sorry AF has arrived. Doesn't get any easier does it.

OttersPocket · 09/01/2014 09:57

Oh Fairy, it must be a worrying time for you. When I found out I was pregnant in October I had AF type cramps for the first two weeks. They were very noticeable but my consultant told me it was just stretching and were completely normal and nothing to worry about. Sending positive vibes Smile

deuscat · 09/01/2014 09:04

Fairy - I was pregnant in December before my mc. I remember having cramps before the BFP and also had them throughout the first few weeks. It was worrying at times but then I realised it was probably just the ligaments etc moving and stretching. Of course I then got cramps again before my mc but they felt very different, in a strangely subtle way. I can totally understand this is worrying time for you. Fingers crossed everything is ok.

Seasides · 09/01/2014 08:49

Also sal how unfair if your DH is losing weight and you're not! Girls are made differently...I'm sure it will come off though, I'm finding it much easier to stay away from the biscuits as I'm fuller through the day, do you find the same?

tannyLoo · 09/01/2014 08:48

Fedup so sorry af arrived. It's shit innit?

If it's any help at all, I feel a ton better since my af finished, like my body has clicked back into place. I hope it has the same effect for you. Thanks

Seasides · 09/01/2014 08:47

Sorry about AF fedup, I hope you're not too low. It's such a grinding circle sometimes Sad

fairy, my sister told me she constantly felt like af was going to arrive in her first few weeks, and her pg colleague said the same thing; the crampy symptoms were the same, but it's just the womb/ligaments stretching etc. Did you feel anything similar with 1st 2 pgs? If you weren't as nervous back then (were they straightforward?) you might not even remember. But it sounds just like sister was describing, so sure there's nothing to worry about.

Fairypants · 09/01/2014 07:28

Sorry fedup, I was still thinking you could get a BFP this month.

I'm a little worried as I had some cramps last night whilst I was cooking dinner. Af is due today so I'm really scared that its going to turn up despite the bfp's. I've just done another ic and the line is stronger than earlier in the week but still considering whether its worth going to the dr. Would they do a blood test or anything at this point?
I'm hoping I'm just being paranoid in which case my -psychosomatic- symptoms are general tiredness and slight nausea in the mornings.
Oh, yes it was me in Disneyland. I would let DH choose a cheesy Disney name to use for the fetus but the dd's would twig (they are 11 and 15) and be horrifiedSmile

fedupofrainydays · 09/01/2014 07:09

I'm so bloated I look preggers :(
Af arrived this morn so on we go again...:(
Every other day for us this month I think (from day 8)

Sal1977 · 08/01/2014 20:29

Pfft. Thanks Seaside but it wasn't me. I'm still a chunky monkey! Haha

Seasides · 08/01/2014 19:38

Forgot to say high five sal - 1/2 stone in 2 weeks is quick going!

Justonemoretime · 08/01/2014 17:40

I hate those comments, too. Because 3 dead babies was just such a consolation!!! I keep thinking I will say that to someone, next time, but I just can't do it when I look at their 'age of innocence' don't have a clue faces... Angry I suppose people mean well and don't know what to say. Hmm

fedupofrainydays · 08/01/2014 17:31

Ugh. The 'at least' comments properly fuck me off. So what, it doesn't matter if I don't have a baby at the end of it does it? Twats. Sorry. Bad language day for me.

I think unexplained infertility is actually harder... As there is no reason so it sucks and also no obvious solution. Our good friends had UI and went on to have successful IVF - what annoys her is that people say 'oh well you will probably get pregnant naturally now'. I can see how that's irritating and presumptuous. No, it doesn't mean that, twats.

Sorry - had one of those days with stupid assumptions and comments (I feel your pain and annoyance parsley and prob would have told that fuckwit who asked you to buy the present where to stick it)

Af is threatening but not appearing. Bit like what you had tanny. FFS, just turn up would you silly witch!!!

Seasides · 08/01/2014 15:54

I get spotting just after af sometimes tanny - maybe dtd dislodges a bit more or something?! I think if it were mid-cycle it'd be more unusual.

Talking of insensitive comments, my pg little sister piped up with 'you should do what I'm going to do next time - just go to the doctor to get clomid'. I just couldn't even get started as I don't want to go down the 'you have no idea what you're talking about, or what this is like for me' route as I know we'd say things we regret. I did point out that clomid would be worse than useless for me as ovulation is the one thing I don't have a problem with; also that docs won't test you until after 1 yr of TTC, to which she just said she'd just lie that she'd been trying for a year. I just changed the subject. I really hope she'll never find out for herself what it's like, and she won't get it unless she experiences it, so there's no point.

That properly sucks that you've lost your place in the queue parsley, I'm sorry.

Parsley2506 · 08/01/2014 15:45

fairy don't blame you for feeling scared but the odds are in your favour and you know we are all rooting for you!

That is a big fat tick in the box for project desperate! Weren't you OPKing in the loos at Disneyland?

Sweet that your DH is being romantic about where it happened, just be sure to veto any Disney inspired name options! Wink

wingandtalon · 08/01/2014 15:29

I appear to have made a bit of a mistake. I was feeling full of posifrickentivity this morning so, on a whim, I treated myself to a haircut at lunchtime and ended up getting it cut quite differently to usual. I'm now really not liking it. Oh well, it's only hair and it'll grow back

parsley I completely know what you mean and no it's not unreasonable at all.

fairy good to hear from you. Hope you're feeling well and managing not to worry too much.

Penguin13 · 08/01/2014 15:13

And no parsley YANBU in the slightest re the 'oh well at least...' comments. For some reason if I say it it's ok but if someone else says it I do feel like saying exactly what you said, I wanted THAT baby. My SIL also reminded me on the day our mmc was discovered of just how lucky we were to get a BFP after only 2 cycles, which I know is true and I am very very grateful for, but when she said it I felt like replying 'funny, I don't feel all that lucky right now'

Penguin13 · 08/01/2014 15:06

Fairy! I was wondering whether you were still lurking and how you were getting on. How are you feeling?

That sucks parsley. Wish people would stop and think. I love a good rant. I like to think that it avoids me saying something REALLY inappropriate in RL. I also compose snarky FB comments in my head.

wingandtalon · 08/01/2014 15:01

tanny yes, that has happened to be a couple of times. I've only noticed it post MC but then, as you say, I wasn't symptom spotting before so I can't say for sure that it never used to happen.
