Pregnancy after sterilization - can i be???

hi im sterilized 5 and a half years and am now late by 9 days i had bit brown spotting not much my urine is a brown colour have bit of lower bk pain ive no nausea im tired alot my left breast is sore to touch other is fine could i be pregnand i was sterilized after a elective section i dnt know if my tubes were cut or tied could some one please let me know if this is possible thanks

Hi new to mums net but I got sterilised in April after having my 7th child they did it at the same time as c-section. I am having a lot of violet sickness in morning and night and I think I might already be late on as I was on just before the 5th of September and do not feel like I am going to be on please help as I got sterilised cause I have got 7 children just over 7 so don't want any more other half keeps saying "you can't get pregnant cause your sterilised"

i had the essure coils put in 4 in each tube and am now late dispite having my op 6 mths ago but have had loads of probs since having it done x

i was sterilised in march this yr and am now 3 days late and have had a positive test really dont want any more as have 4 boys and complications in each pregnancy hense the sterilistion x

i am fine was a upset wot i just been through to sort it out:( i have got the implant in my arm now aswell as the clamps lol but i got my 3 kids really dont want no more x

hi im new to this but here goes i had the clamps put on in feb and the doctor garanted i could not get pregnat but boy was they wrong they said if there had been a scare it would b eptopic but wrong again i have found out im 9 weeks pregnant its in the rightfull place in the womb so not very happy an very confussed sorry to scare any one by this news just letting u all know it defo can happen

Hi all just an up date done 5 pregnancy tests all bar 1 came up negative been to docs today and they've repeated the test results back tomoz I'm now 8 weeks late on Thursday and in so much pain with my back pelvis and womb so we will see 2moz....she refused and blood test to determine if I am or not if this comes back negative then I will be insisting coz something is going on and I can't do this anymore if I'm not then they can take it all away x

Terrie it could be your hormones making you feel this way, you could be heading toward the perimenopause which can last for a while before you hit the real menopause. Your cycles become more irregular and unpredictable during the perimenopause . There are lots of things that you can take to help balance your hormones if you are not pregnant. Good luck.

hi everyone im 47yrs old and a mother of 5 and 9 grandkids, i was sterilised more than 18 yrs ago.. i came on this site because i have missed 3 periods in a row i'v done the home pregnancy test thing but all came back negative, i felt like i was going insane as i'v had all the pregnancy symptoms apart from being sick i'v even been getting little flutters just above my pubic bone i worked out that if im pregnant im at least 15 weeks, so now been to the doc (who looked at me like i was mad) and she suggested i may be going through the menopause, and the flutters in my tummy are Irritable bowel syndrome caused by stress, i now waiting for the results of my blood tests to come back.

I'm a mum of 5 had had difficult pregnancy with all of my children wasn't suppose to have my last two as it was too dangerous lucky for me everything turned out great I'm 34 and was sterilized after my 5 bby tht was nearly 4 years ago I'm now nearly 2 weeks late for my period and really worried I have major bk ache and little pain in my pelvis/ womb how ever 4 wrks ago I had an internal scan surely if u was pregnant they would of been able to tell as they were looking at my ovaries and womb then Dnt really want to do a test as I'm really fertile could it be anything else :@

Well i did another test last night (clearblue) and it came back negative. So gonna try get in to the doctors this friday and insist on a blood test to find out whats going on......

well ladies and all, im new to the site and was amazed to hear mightymummy's story. I had clips put on my tubes nearly 18 yrs ago, my periods are regular and predictable. For the first time in years im now 24 days late, my next period is due 20/11/2011. i have had sore and tender boobs, swollen stomach, felt queezy not been sick and feel drained most of the time. I did a test at 17 & 18 days late, both negative ( albiet they were cheap ones from asda). I called to get an appointment at my docs to which i was told they were full until next week!! so i am going to buy another test tonight as its beena week since last test. Not sure what to think if the next test is negative as i feel the size of a house. All symptoms are the same as my previous three children although they are all grown up now as i turned 40 this year obviously a pregnancy is not planned. Will post tomorrow with the new results xxxx wish me luck xxx

Hi x I had a c section 4 years ago and was sterilized at the same time. However I'm over a week late my boobs hurt feel sick and very emotional.. didn't think it was possible to get pregnant. But after reading this think I should do a test.. in total shock as really thought it was impossible. Will update you x Lisa x

Hi I got sterilised on the 19th jan 2011 my periods were always on time but this month I was 3 weeks late when to docs on 15th sept and im 6+ weeks pregnant. this is going to be my third. I got sterlised as I didnt want anymore but it has gone wrong.

was wandering if any1 cud help me i was steralised 7 yrs ago after having 3 ceasarians but last 2 or 3 months been spottin between periods feelin tired heart burn an very drained plus gainin load sof weight. my tubes wer cut then tied i think but am now 9 days late an wanderin weva there was a posiibilty of pregnancy due to symptoms im getin or weva its normal for a phantom type of pregnancy as feel like i am but was told was impossible 7 yrs ago

Why does it take so long with the doctors? Did they not just get a stick for you to pee on? I couldn't wait that long if I were you, it sounds excruciating.

Well went doctors yesturday and done a test have to wait 5 to 7 days for results so will post them when i find out . Have been having sickness in the morning for the past couple of days so it does feel like i am . My partner will be happy as he has no children of his own so will be keeping it if i am .

Well, see the post directly above yours, it obviously can happen. Also, I met a dad in the playground recently, pushing his twins on the roundabout who were conceived after his wife had been sterilised. (They were children 5&6 for them and they were both over 40).

Equally there are about a million posts on here from women who have had mysteriously disappearing periods and it was just one of those things, so you could just be having that now.

To state the obvious you really need to just test to either put your mind at rest or so you can decide what you want to do sooner rather than later if it is +ve.

This is my first time using this ,have been reading peoples messages and thought i might be able to get some answers.
I was sterilized over 6 years ago but have now missed a period and am having pregnancy symptons :-(. Im to scared to have a test as really didnt want anymore children as i already have 4 and a grandson .I am 37 and was hoping to start enjoying my social life . What to do ? Has anyone had this and turned out not to be pregnant ?

Right new to this but here it goes! I was sterlizesd 15 years ago when my daughter was 2 i was 19 and had the op done twice as i got pregnant 12 months after having it done...i have three teens age 19 17 16 So as you can imagain when after all this time my period stoped!!!!!!! stared being sick classic symtoms of being pregnant...Well to day i have had it confirmed im nearly 8 weeks!!!!!! So nothing is fail safe eh!!! im 35 not sure what the hell im doing!!!! My doctor tells me its not that uncommon infact he seemed more chuffed than me!!! So its rubbish you CAN have your tubes cut clipped squeshed if your unlucky like me your end with a baby.........I think i may just cry now lol

Hi everyone...I was sterilized 18 months ago with clips at the same time as my 5th c section...I'm now 6 days late!..also had a smear 2 weeks ago and the doc said my womb wad a little on the big side...all my results were normal..but now worried about being pregnant..x

hi there , i had my tubes clamped 2 and a half years ago, when my 4th child was 5 months old. I only planned on two children but i had an iud fail and the pill failed too. so i went and got myself what i thought was sorted. I had a bad last pregnancy where my hips stuffed out, i went for an x-ray to see that there are 2 of the clips on the one side and none on the other. I feel very lucky to have not fallen pregnant but how does that happen. waiting for the doctor to get back to me on that.

Hi there, I honestly dont know the odds but if you suspect you are then I'd recommend visiting your nurse or doctor for hcg blood test. Only way to know for sure if hpt's are failing you.
