Pregnancy after sterilization - can i be???

hi I've been sterilised 13 years (clips ) just the last few weeks I have had sore breasts , felt sick , dizzy and light headed ,gone off tea and people are commenting on how radiant I look now I'm beginning to feel like I did when I was pregnant with my twins is this possible ??? has anyone ever got pregnant after so long a sterilisation .

i've been reading all these messages and in a bit of a tiz tbh!! was steralized on 4th november 2013 after 3 rubbish pregnancies.. i have 2 beautiful children. Implant removed on 23rd december after my period (like recommended by consultant) the op wasnt straight forward as doc dropped a clip inside my pelvic area then he had to put two clips on my right tube as he couldn't see if it was detatched (and still wasn't 100% it has worked) now there's no sign of my period .... i know only a week (maybe 2) late but crapping myself tbh!!! I went to phone docs today but hung up as scared lol for gods sake im 41 !!!

I've been sterilised for almost 5 year I've had sore breast for over a week now thought I was just due my period but still not came. I've started felling tired and sick with headaches is it possible to be pregnant ?

Bellz I'd definitely go to the DRs, you will have a higher chance of ectopic if you are pregnant and you will need to see someone. Hope everything goes ok

Hi im new here. I was steralized nearly 4yrs ago. My last period I had was in nov really heavy. I didnt get a period in dec. My cycle runs like clock work. So im abit concerned. I did a test but neg. I have other symptoms of bn pregnant. I have 4 kids and with my first 2 it was hard 2 detect that I was pregnant. Should I wait and so a test in few days or go and c my doctor. Any help please. O remember doctor sayin 2 me the mirena coil was more effective than bn sterelized. But im a rare person who was allergic 2 it aswell as other methods of. Contraceptions.

Confused again I was sterilised last year November 2012 and fell pregnant in may buy sadly misscarried . Went for test and found out one clip had moved up by the oviry can't say if its on the tube or just logged their and the other clip is no where to be seen doc says that's very rare they come off so early it can happen years down the line but never this early . And I need to be very careful but this month I started my period four days early and it was just spotting brown then one night blood on one pad then back to brown spotting for the next three days could this be implantion bleeding ?

Hi I'm Sarah and I got sterilised 8 years ago when I had my daughter by c section. But the last couple of weeks I have felt pregnant is it possible plus I have a new partner also my period has been light and not lasted long either also have a few of the signs as well xx

Yes you can be 'fertile' as in you release an egg each month but after sterilisation where the tubes are blocked/clipped/cut the sperm cannot get to the egg so even though technically you are fertile you will not get pregnant.

As sterilisation doesn't affect hormones/ovulation etc any sort of test for fertility would still be normal.

I'm so happy I found this! I had the Essure procedure done in March, had a baby in December of last year.. I bled for 5 months and since I've stopped bleeding the thought of pregnancy keeps entering my mind. We're getting ready to move and I found a fertility test (came free with a pregnancy test I bought a year earlier). I was curious so I took the test. It showed I was fertile. Then my thought was, is it possible to be fertile after having a sterilization done? Now I'm scared of getting pregnant!
I'm a military wife and have 3 kids. 9, 3 and 6 months, with my oldest having some special needs. My husband is gone a lot so it's hard sometimes. Not sure i could handle a 4th if this procedure didnt work.

So, is it possible to be fertile after a sterilization? And does that mean the procedure didnt work?

Period started by all this has messed with my head and heart , I am due to marry my parter who isn't the father to my other kids and really want a baby together after the loss of the pregnancy last month , is their any chance to fall pregnant again ? This is all confusing and the doctor is no help at all

Well here I am again confused , I was sterilised October last year and found my self pregnant last month but misscarried a week later at 3-4 weeks . It's now a month later an still no period I had unprotected sex a week later of the misscarriage but had started to take the mini pill , witch the nurse said would take two weeks to get into my body system . And now finding my self four weeks later no period but in pain again in my lower stomach ?

Hi. My names jennie and im new here. Im 25 and have a 3 year old and a 10 month old. My 1st labour was natural and my placenta ruptured and was rushed to theatre which was a big scare so went on contraception I was having heavy periods with blood clots so was but on another form of pill to stop the bleeding which also worked as a form of morning after pill. I found out I was expecting again whilst having a scan on my overies for the problems I was having. We decided she was a blessing and decided to go ahead with the pregnancy after docs said they will keep a close eye on things during labour. Little madam was breech from 20 scan and stayed in that position till birth even after 3 hospital attempts to turn her over. It ended in a csection that went well. Got to recovery ward and my uterus had stopped contracting causing me to lose blood. I lost over half my blood count and had 4 units of blood and was put on high dependency unit under 24 hour watch. I almost died. The pain it caused to myself and my family we decided I would be sterilized. It wasnt easy convincing the gp as I was 24 at the time but after getting my argument across and speaking to my consultant who was there the day I gave birth but both my children he knew id made the right decision. I had the op 15th jan and my periods have been spot on since but im now 5 days late. Sore chest. Lots of clear discharge and lost appetite. Which were my 3 main things I remember with my 1st. We know if im pregnant then the only option is an abortion which im heart broken about but I cant leave my present babies without a mummy. Im booked in for my 1st cervical screening tomorrow so was wondering if they test me 1st or of they would know if I am or not? Any help or advice would be appreciated. This isnt a subject I ever wanted to talk about again :( xx

Do you think doing a blood test will help me find out for sure, or should I wait until month end to see if I miss my period or not, because I've been having these pains on my lower abdomen since last week Friday and they're getting stronger by day?

You could be. Sometimes a sterilisation can reverse itself. It's very rare but it can/does happen. If you are pregnant I would like to be the first to congratulate you in advance. xx

I was sterilised after my second child 4years ago, I feel pregnant all the symptoms are there. I've done a home pregnancy test and its negative, went to see a GP today and told me I'm not pregnant.

Well spent the weekend in hospital , after two of their pregnancy test and blood test I am definitely pregnant. To early to see if its safe in the womb or eptopic or will miscarriage ? But have been having really bad cramps and pains in my lower left side of my tum. Have to go back Tuesday for another blood test see if the pregnancy hormones are going up is so its a healthily pregnancy , if going down miscarriage and if the don't go up or down its stopped growing and most likely eptopic . So berry worried at the min I have five lovely Children 16 , 13 ,12 ,11 and nearly four. But my husband to to is not their dad so even tho I didn't want anymore ! I have found my self wanting this miracle to be safe and well ? Just have to play the waiting game now really . Will keep you all up dated on what happens next ?

Hi new to this I was sterilised in November of last year but had pain on my left side ever since but regular periods , anyway he goes need but of advice ! I have been late by nearly two weeks and really bad cramps , so I did 3 pergancey test last night all showed two lines . Be it the second line was lighter so phoned the doctors and they said send in a wee sample for them to send off so I did , get the results Monday but see doctor Tuesday . Anyway can't believe what I was seeing so did another four test today all showing two lines again . But after really bad pains today I have had two brownish spots in my pants ( sorry to be crood) done yet another test still shows two lines ? Not sure what to make of it ?

Im 44 and i was sterilized in 2001 after having 3 kids and my periods have always been on time but this month im 6 days late im scared incase im pregnant cos i had a bad time with my 3 kids ive had cravings and i feel flutterings in my stomach

hi ellieBearSF i was glad to see all these posts because they confirmed i wasn't insane, do u think its because we r sterilized that we constantly think about being pregnant? i was fine until late last year when i felt sick and the doc asked me if i was pregnant, when i said i couldn't be due to my sterilization she said "the only way to tell if you've had a successful sterilization is if you never fall pregnant again" i thought it was full proof and was shocked to hear it wasn't, my period came eventually but i've not had one for few months and i'm feeling ill all day and lightheaded, its becoming bad, cant get to see doc til fri so if i can get myself out the door 2moro a test will be got. i think r minds def play tricks, like we think we can feel movements and all, its crazy.

hi ladies, i was sterilized in 2007 after my 3rd c/section ... it was done at the same time. my periods have always been bang on the 28day cycle and it was due yesterday and still hasnt turned up :( dont get me wrong im desperate for another baby but this just plays tricks with me !! like everyone else ive been feeling sick, having migraines, heartburn and weight gain :( im too scared to do a test ... could this just be my mind playing tricks on me ?? and can i just say congrats to all the mummys to be xx

Hi all, very new to this but here goes. Got sterilized in July 2011 during my 3rd section, my periods are never really regular and normally I don't mind but I'm worrying this time as I'm feeling nauseous, have metallic taste in my mouth, going to the loo more often+certain smells are making me want to be sick. I'm petrified to do a test, although I luv my kids very much I don't know if my husband would want anymore, help? [Confused]

Hi cutetoday, please don't be palmed off by the dr's, I went into hospital in February of this year with suspected appendicitis, they took my appendix out, and then woke me at 2.30 in the morning to tell me that my sterilization clips had come off, I was sterilized 17 years ago!!! they have no idea of when they came off and they could only find one! My appendix wasn't the problem, I still have the same pain but they have no idea of what's causing it. For 17 years whenever I've gone for xrays, mammograms etc whenever I've been asked... Any chance of pregnancy, I have always replied I was sterilized in 1995 and been told, oh no chance then! Now I've had to start taking the pill, because apparently there is a chance and at my age the risk is too great, but no one has even bothered apologising let alone suggested ways in which they might look for the missing clip or where it might be?!?!

Maybe someone can give me some advice. I went to my GP in October 12 with pregnancy symptoms (I was sterilized in 1999 after having three children) My GP told me it was impossible to be pregnant and that it was more likely to be the menopause! So for the last four months I've put the tiredness, sore boobs, emotional state etc etc..... down to my body changing I'm 47. I've had a light period every month which lasts for about a day. I'm now getting a bit suspicious because may waist line is getting bigger (I never put on weight) some of my trousers don't fit and the rest of my clothes have become tight...I can also feel movement every now and then...like fluttering or a slight kicking!

What do you think?
