2014 will bring me a BFP!

I seem to remember there was a year thread when I first joined for 2013 but that didn't go my way. I can't see a 2014 one but I am determined to get my BFP in 2014 and hoping positive mental attitude will help.

Thought if see if anyone wants to join with 2014 goal to get upduffed rather than a monthly bus - some of us just need a longer term strategy!

Hi everyone...can I join?! I was over two weeks late for af. Went to docs on 10 days late after 3x negative tests. She told me I was being silly and to go back after months of no af. I had a first response left over so did it this morning...it's a bfp!!!!! Two weeks late for af and it's only just showed up!!!!good luck everyone!!!xx

Jenny it is no big deal for the boys really. Just tell you dp in a straightforward way and sure it'll be fine. It is a one time test for them, they get to do it at home and as long as you're near a hospital and that is it, job done. For you after the initial bloods it is a lot more invasive and time consuming, so don't worry about asking, just tell him what to do and hand him over the pot!

JennyOfOldstones · 08/01/2014 08:18

Just had my appointment and the doc was very nice and didn't tell me off for going too early (I said 9 months) but he said they want to investigate DP first as there is no point starting my tests until they know he is ok. I was dreading this, he won't be keen and isn't as impatient as me!

Dildoos, my friend had Immune incompatibility and now has a beautiful 1 year old and another on the way. That might explain being able to conceive but not sticking. Good luck for your appointment.

dildoos · 07/01/2014 22:02

I have been referred only now after 4 mc with no live birth in between and 31 months of ttc, sometimes they make you wait tooooooooooo long I have dd with ex partner so fertility treatment as far as Ivf would be private only but investigations into why mc and the prescription of drugs is covered apparently, however got to start with gynaecologist first which after a long wait is happening Tuesday Smile dp has only 2% motility but apparently as we have conceived 4 times they feel this is not the issue? However when I saw Indian Canadian Grin he said straight away we are immuno incompatible and I just need an immune suppressant vaccine? Which I have googled and apparently it's a white blood cell injection? This getting a baby lark is so complicated x

JennyOfOldstones · 07/01/2014 21:54

That is really interesting about the 12 month/ 24 month thing. I would quite happily wait 24 months if I knew there was a BFP at the end of it. I am just too impatient and need to feel like I am 'doing something'!! Have my docs appt tomorrow so will prob be honest and see if I can get a blood test then re-evaluate at 12 months. If they say no they say no!! I have heard about morning dtd too, can only manage that on weekends though!!

cottonwool4brains · 07/01/2014 21:17

Still it's only been 9 months for me and I feel like it's Been forever and it's never going to happen. And if your gp is any cop he/she will refer you at 9 months anyway as the waiting list is looooooong.

cottonwool4brains · 07/01/2014 21:14

Due on Friday, negative frer today (why do I do this to myself). had a chat with dh tonight about what if # 2 doesn't happen, I think I'm being a bit melodramatic but I guess it doesn't do any harm to think about this stuff. I should know better.... About the lying to your Dr. Statistically 50% of people investigated after 12 months of trying go on to conceive naturally within 24 months.... So that's why the NHS sets the cut off at 12.months, because even that means people are being unnecessary investigated.

For those finding the 2ww hard... Imagine a 70 day cycle? Or a 50? Or maybe a 35? 2ww may be frustrating but at least you have an end date!

gmlowe · 07/01/2014 19:22

Hey! I'm new to this site but it's reassuring to see I am not alone in the nightmare of TTC. I was on the mini pill for 8 years and came off it in May 2013, I have had regular cycles ever since but have still no result! I'm 22 so (naively) thought it wouldn't take long. Haven't tried temping yet but did buy some ovulation tests ready for next month, I have regular sex but every month the period returns!

Here's to a pregnancy in 2014!

SweepTheHalls · 07/01/2014 13:50

I keep counting how many days until I'm due mo, and it seems forever this month. This 2WW is killing me!

Jessewalt · 07/01/2014 10:49

I totally agree Jenny. We are on cycle 8 now and I am struggling this month. I have been contemplating lying to the doctor too. My husband is not keen to do this as he thinks the year marker is there for a reason, but I find the monthly disappointments would be a complete waste of time if there is a fundamental issue.
There has also been a host of Christmas and new year announcements of pregnancy amongst friends and family. I really thought that would be us.
I need to accept it is a marathon, not a sprint. We will get there, and we need to be more patient!
Does anyone recommend early morning dtd - I read somewhere hgher sperm count? Total rubbish?

JennyOfOldstones · 07/01/2014 08:52

Thanks M33R I am a terrible liar but want to get things moving, I am happy to keep trying if I know everything is ok, it just seems like a waste of time if one of us has a serious problem. I also use preseed, it is very runny and goes everywhere!!

fausher · 07/01/2014 05:53

I had some AF cramps last evening and finally AF is here. The symptoms really deceived me this time. The cycle was long too this time and lots of stuff different. Anyways, I have my appointment with the Dr on my day 2. Let's see how it goes as I never had any such visits to dr before. [Smile]

dildoos · 06/01/2014 21:14

Ha me too!!! I often wonder if the amount of precautions I took has made me super protected?! I took3 years to conceive dd5 ( almost 6 ) and now been trying to conceive 2 and 1/2 years and feeling like the older I get the less chance of having the 3 I dreamed off is looking slim . I feel wonderfully lucky I have dd but dp has no blood child but his bond with my daughter is just wonderful and no one would ever guess not his blood child. Anyway enough of my sob story I will have a 2014 bfp am sure xx

OneInAMinion · 06/01/2014 21:08

How did I spend my youth worrying that I'd get pregnant at the drop of a hat when all these lotions & potions are required with precision timing?! Grin

FX m33r!

dildoos · 06/01/2014 20:59

Fx for you m33r x

dildoos · 06/01/2014 20:57

Sorry talking about Indian Canadian bring the long shot Grin

dildoos · 06/01/2014 20:56

One - no I haven't but I too have read great results but apparently the tablets cause the mucus to be sperm friendly?! I know it was a long shot and totally changed by usually 28 day to the hour cycle too anything from 28-38 day cycle and different ! Never ever again!!!! I haven't tried smep yet so next cycle that's my plan x

m33r · 06/01/2014 20:56

one I've been using preseed for two minths. Let you know if I get my BFP on Friday. FX but high hopes!

OneInAMinion · 06/01/2014 20:49

Dildoos - Chinese medicine from an Indian Canadian?! Love it! Grin

OneInAMinion · 06/01/2014 20:48

Has anyone used conceive plus fertility lubricant? It gets great reports on Amazon from those that have used it.

dildoos · 06/01/2014 20:36

Evening all !!
I have just poured acup of green tea with lemon( pulls funny face as disgusts my taste buds!!)
But as I have reached the point of trying anything and I mean anything here goes Wink

Fxfor 2014 and all our bfps xx

OneInAMinion · 06/01/2014 19:59

Welcome ladies!

Good knowledge fausher...I'll be getting on the green tea trail soon Smile

Not sure about other people's first appointments Jennifer, but at ours they basically recorded lots of info on how long we've been trying, periods, previous pregnancies, history & that kind of thing, worked out my BMI, took a smear type swab, gave me the paperwork for more day 3 & 21 blood tests (as there were questions over my ovulation), booked my hubby in for semen analysis & authorised me for a HSG exam (which you can't book until day 1 of your period). Apparently some places do ultrasounds too. Appointment 2 was then to discuss the results & next steps.

Hope that helps?

m33r · 06/01/2014 19:00

Hi jenny. Welcome aboard. Just wanted to recommend maybe exaggerating a bit to the gp in case he is funny about the 12 month thing. Just practice saying 'we've been trying for 12 minths in January...

Good luck !

JennyOfOldstones · 06/01/2014 14:01

Hi ladies, can I join too? Have been off the pill for 9 months and temping for the last 4. First chart was textbook and second was ok, then I had a dodgy one and this month I don't think I have ovulated at all. Have made a docs appointment to get bloods done, hopefully they will do it even though it hasn't been a year yet. We are not the most 'active' couple and it is getting harder to dtd enough and we had our first case of 'failure to perform' last week so have totally given up this month. I am 34 and wondering if I have left it too late. I am looking for a new job to have something else to focus on and hoping to have sod's law effect too!!
