2014 will bring me a BFP!

I seem to remember there was a year thread when I first joined for 2013 but that didn't go my way. I can't see a 2014 one but I am determined to get my BFP in 2014 and hoping positive mental attitude will help.

Thought if see if anyone wants to join with 2014 goal to get upduffed rather than a monthly bus - some of us just need a longer term strategy!

Aw thanks flofly Smile I'm over the moon excited, terrified and clueless all at once...I only got as far as reading about ttc...I don't know the first thing about pregnancy! Grin

Flofly1 · 22/01/2014 17:22

One in a minion YES YES YES YES!!! So many congratulations! :)

OneInAMinion · 22/01/2014 17:20

I decided to have a dry Jan (which doesn't feel enough), be more healthy generally in terms of food & exercise, we made sex more fun & less functional again, I read "taking charge of your fertility", hubby had been taking conception tablets for men for 3 months (which apparently is when you start to see differences in sperm quality), I started acupuncture (but this was mostly after I'd conceived but didn't know) & we resigned ourselves to the fact that we'd be going down the IVF route and that what mattered most was each other. Not sure if that helps?

Well they did tweak DH's treatment after the last sample, so can only imagine the count has improved somewhat - it seems impossible otherwise! Though don't know how much it can have improved it what must have been about a month! He's got SA booked in for next week (scheduled before our surprise news) so we should get some answers then! I will share the result so we have an idea of "how low you can go"!!

I do hope you lovely ladies all get BFPs really soon! Hopefully it's catching...

Jessewalt · 22/01/2014 16:47

Absolutely brilliant news girls. My goodness, I hope these BFPs continue for us all. 47 sperm - well they must be excellent swimmers!
Did anyone do anything different to get a BFP??
Xx

dildoos · 22/01/2014 16:44

Wow le just wow that is wonderful news GrinGrinGrin
One congrats too what lovely news GrinGrinGrin

OneInAMinion · 22/01/2014 15:46

There really is something in the water...I got a BFP last night eek. I know it's early days, but we've never had one before (in nearly 2 years of ttc no.1) and IF it sticks, it would mean we don't have to go ahead with our IVF appointment in April.

I've no idea what was different this time, but I'm wishing everyone else the same!

Flofly1 · 22/01/2014 15:25

LEtranger - this is amaaaaaazing. Thank you so much for telling us! It give me hopity hope hope hope! (I've been known to change my name on here too!) We've got low motility and the doctor did say - it just takes one......

Considering having ICSI IVF but have read lots of worrying articles about increased birth defects:( Must stay off Dr Google.

But that is fab and congratulations. Really hope that magical little bean sticks. x

LEtranger · 22/01/2014 15:04

Absolutely Miss ! Our consultant does like to go on about how it only takes one...didn't expect a result with quite such low numbers though, that said we did shag a lot 17 times over Christmas...

MissHobart · 22/01/2014 10:41

Very exciting Letranger ! Another piece of evidence that it can and will happen! Congratulations! Grin

LEtranger · 22/01/2014 09:43

Hello there ladies, long time MNer here (but regular name changer). Don't normally come on conception because honestly believed no chance of a bfP for us - been trying since Jan 2011, found out 18 months ago DH producing no sperm, started treatment about 9/10 months ago, SA in November showed 47 sperm in the sample (yes that's right 47, lonely sperm). So no expectation of bfp in 2014 - although clearly hoping for one!

But here comes the hope for everyone bit - 11 days late for AF, POAS - we got a BFP!!!! Some kind of miracle or what?! No idea whether it will be sticky, seems impossible, but had to tell someone!!

WheresMrMonkey · 22/01/2014 07:40

Big congrats sazzle!

Flofly1 · 21/01/2014 15:00

Oh Sazzle - that really is fantastic! Congratulations. Great to have some happy news on this thread.

OneInAMinion · 21/01/2014 14:28

Hear hear Jesse, that's great news Sazzle! Great start to 2014!

Jessewalt · 21/01/2014 11:34

Congratulations sazzle - we need lots more encouraging stories like yours!

sazzlehopes · 21/01/2014 10:52

Hi all, I wanted to pop in and say to not give up. I know this is easier said than done and we all have good days and truly terrible days. I couldn't talk to several of my friends a few months ago (they were all pregnant with dc2 SO easily - 1st cycle blah blah) when i hit my year of ttc mark because i was so upset and i needed my own space. But i got my bfp yesterday after 14 months. I didn't do anything spectacular and new, just kept on... I did have reflexology this month, drank a lot of ginger tea too.
FX crossed for you all for 2014, its a long road but you will all get there somehow in the end.

WheresMrMonkey · 21/01/2014 07:48

Oops... *became pregnant

WheresMrMonkey · 21/01/2014 07:48

Hi, can I join in? Trying for dc2 for a couple of months, literally be and pregnant on one attempt with dd, so lucky. And assumed id be the same...... Got af yesterday and can't even describe how desperately sad I felt. Hoped I'd wake up ok today but feel so gutted.
Everyone's pregnant with dc1 or 2 around me. And I'm just feeling so upset. Thought we had done everything right last month. But my cycles are always a little all over the place

cottonwool4brains · 20/01/2014 22:23

Argh I have had enough today. Everyone around me is pregnant. To top it all if I get asked again why we haven't got started on number two ( my daughter is nearly 5) I may either cry or kill them! Rant over...

OneInAMinion · 20/01/2014 13:54

That's really disappointing Lorelie - I'm sorry to hear that. Hmm It might have actually been an early stage pregnancy...apparently lots of people think they have fertility problems when in fact they have slightly different issues (often a short luteal phase). Can you tell I've been reading lots lately?! You'd be able to find out by charting your cycle properly as certain measures confirm a pregnancy even if it later becomes AF.

Flofly - my cycles vary between 26 and 33 days which I thought made things harder to calculate, but I've just learned that it's only really pre ovulation cycles that change, not post, so I'm hoping that by charting temp, CM & CP I'll be able to know exactly what's going on. This month is all about the charts! Grin

Jessewalt · 20/01/2014 12:24

Feeling rubbish today. In 2 week wait. Day 5 post ovulation. Cycle 8. If not preggers this month, planning on seeing GP. I really hoped it wouldn't come to this. I know that many people have long journeys, and i just need to keep going. I feel particularly worried of there is an issue with semen analysis. As with many people, I am not sure my husband will cope all that well. Just need to wait and see. Sorry for thinking out loud....

Flofly1 · 20/01/2014 11:15

one in a minion - you've just inspired me... feeling a bit sluggish about ttc but maybe I will step it up a gear and try anything till we get to our referral. I'm just post ovulation now - haven't been monitoring this month... we did it a lot last week before ovulation but slacked a bit over the weekend... so not sure if it was enough really. Next month I will start again with a new energy. How long are your cycles normally one in a minion?

Lorelie - our bodies are so annoying.. I have had so many months with every symptom under the sun and got excited then bfn/AF. The month I got pregnant the symptoms were so similar to pre-AF symptoms so I think it's really hard to tell. But it's so so so so disappointing... hang in there.

lorelie · 20/01/2014 10:04

Ok so I was thinking this month would be it, I used an opk, we dtd lots around the right time, I got mild cramps just after ovulation which never normally happens, last week I had the mother of all colds (I read somewhere that your immune response is lowered to help implantation), and yesterday I had some brown spotting which I never normally get between periods. I was thinking all the signs are pointing towards getting my bfp next week and today AF appears ;( so now starting cycle 5. Saw my doctor a couple if weeks ago who was really nice and suspects pco so have to have an ultrasound and bloods done as it may linked to this. So disappointed :(

sykadelic15 · 18/01/2014 18:30

Nottalotta I'm 30 :) 31 this year. With PCO concerns (not diagnosed with PCOS but I wouldn't be surprised honestly :S) I really thing we need to get a wriggle on!
