2014 will bring me a BFP!

I seem to remember there was a year thread when I first joined for 2013 but that didn't go my way. I can't see a 2014 one but I am determined to get my BFP in 2014 and hoping positive mental attitude will help.

Thought if see if anyone wants to join with 2014 goal to get upduffed rather than a monthly bus - some of us just need a longer term strategy!

Thanks guys Smile

Also congratulations twinkle sorry I missed your news in a haze of pre POAS panicking.

Good luck to everyone else, I have a feeling 2014 is going to be a fantastic year.

Unicorns - nothing wrong with a xmas baby at all...husband, father, brother and best friend all xmas babies. in fact best friends baby is christmas DAY baby! still, wanted to spread it out a little financially...in the end we ended up having early jan baby....hence why i thought this time round i might try and hit a different month, in the early days of ttc i was blissfully unaware that there would be any problem conceiving....it was pointless exercise and still over a year on not preggo and couldn't care less when the baby arrives!!

Flofly1 · 03/01/2014 09:51

Congratulations Lottie - that's great! DulcetMoans - yes agree on identitfying a problem - because we've come up with nothing else so far.... it's a bit scary but has also encouraged DH to cut back on booze properly now - I think he's always thought that's a bit of an urban myth!

His motility is 24% in the last sample. We are doing another one this week. As we've been pregnant (MC) before I guess it means we can get pregnant - it's just quite lucky!

I haven't read Unicorn but i think I will. I've read Taking Charge and really liked it. I also liked an Impatient Women's Guide to getting pregnant - it's quite bitesize/down to earth.......

dildoos - did they say what they would be looking for in you? Did they suggest what your DH could do to improve motility?

Anyone else got any ideas on this?

I found temping really good. I used it, combined with OPKs, for a few months to check ovulation and get to know my body better (ie know when I ovulate).... I think sometimes it can take over your life a bit...... so it's quite good to have the odd month when you ditch the thermometer and OPK.... but that's probably just me.

Twinkle that is fab news - all the luck in the world. x

SweepTheHalls · 03/01/2014 09:23

Congratulations Lottie, great to have good news x

dildoos · 03/01/2014 09:05

Goodmorning ladies, may I join you all? Been trying to conceive for 2 and half years, 4 mc , gynaecologist appointment on 14/1/14 dp has very low sperm motility 2% Hmm however as we have got pregnant they are looking at me too for now ????? Unsure why as have a gorgeous dd 5 nearly 6 with previous husband so feel barking up wrong tree??? I did bleed for the whole pregnancy like a period but nevertheless my princess Is here Smile
Happy fertile 2014 ladies!
I am very impressed with the wonderful bfps here already GrinGrinGrin

Lottiedoubtie · 03/01/2014 08:59

Yes, well three actually if you count the control one!

Strong horizontal faint vertical.

Clearblue test.

Argh should have bought a digital! Fingers crossed!!

fausher · 03/01/2014 08:53

Lottie That sounds great... You have got two lines? One clear and the other faint one?
All the best to you.

OneInAMinion · 03/01/2014 08:44

Fantastic news twinkle!! I hope everything goes smoothly for you during your pregnancy - it sounds like you've earned it.

Ha ha Sykadelic - you sound just like me when we deciding to start trying Wink Follow your heart & do whatever makes you happy. I'm not sure there's ever a right time or anyone is ever completely ready. Good luck with it!

Lottiedoubtie · 03/01/2014 08:25

I got a line.

A bloody faint line. But a line is a line? Right? Right? [worried]

fausher · 03/01/2014 08:21

The diziness is kind of over now but I do have this empty head feeling and faint cramps on one side of lower back. Last night I had some cramps in my lower abdomen, maybe near ovary.
CD 26, 12 DP... had an HPT with FMU... BFN Sad
I feel sleepy and my sleep time has increased too. Finally I can sleep alot like DH Grin
I will check again once I have missed my period, i.e CD 29 or CD 30.

sykadelic15 · 03/01/2014 01:23

Hoping to get a BFP in 2014 as well.

I'm on the implant at the moment (4 1/2+ years) and trying to talk myself into having it removed. I'm in the "what if it takes months to normalise?" and "what if it doesn't, am I SURE I'm ready now?" and the "oh god, oh god, oh god" panic because I'm 30 now and have polycystic ovaries (no-one ever diagnosed PCOS just PCO) so I'm genuinely concerned. I swing between terrified and excited... which makes me worry (haha vicious cycle) that I'll be way OTT with tracking and freak DH out more than he already is (he's not adverse to kids, it just makes him realise he's old :P).

So I'll keep track with all of you, order the internet cheapie LH and PG tests from Amazon and work towards TTC this year :D

UnicornsNotRiddenByGrownUps · 03/01/2014 00:38

Wow twinkle wishing you the best of luck! That's lovely news.

twinklestar2 · 03/01/2014 00:03

Dulcet - I finally conceived after 2.5 years and a failed IVF cycle. Currently 8 weeks pregnant from a frozen cycle of ivf. It's been a long horrible road so feel very blessed, just hope this goes ok, still a long way to go!

robindeer · 02/01/2014 22:48

Can I join too? Been TTC for months now, GP suspects pcos but has advised patience. Not getting any younger though... I'll second the recommendation for 'taking charge of your fertility'- I wish I'd read it years ago! It's really useful (and reassuring!)

UnicornsNotRiddenByGrownUps · 02/01/2014 21:37

What is wrong with a Christmas baby?! I'm one too and its rather nice. I'm exactly the same as OneInAMinion.

Yep book is good. Makes much more sense. If you buy it then get a digital thermometer too. Its been good because now I've started seeing the fertility clinic I've been able to show them the different cycles and when I believe I have or haven't ovulated.

OneInAMinion · 02/01/2014 21:16

My b'day is the week before Xmas & I love being a December baby...my family & friends spoil me rotten so I don't feel forgotten & an anytime baby would suit me just fine Smile I'd even take just having 1 despite thinking/hoping that we'd have a few kids.

OneInAMinion · 02/01/2014 21:13

I'm having a dry January too unicorns - hopefully it's good practice! Wink

I was just wondering what the consensus is on clomid? Our gynaecologist said she doesn't prescribe it unless blood tests indicate clear ovulation problems as it's not proven to be effective in those circumstances, but other people in our boat (unexplained infertility) seem to be taking it following medical advice. Should I be pushing for or not?

sazzlehopes · 02/01/2014 21:13

I'm happy about this thread and the long term goals rather than keeping up too much with the buses...
I am definitely not worrying about when I fall pregnant...last year I naively sat out two months for fear of a Xmas day baby and another child born in January. Ds is born beg jan...now after 13 cycles I couldn't care less when i have a baby!!!

DulcetMoans · 02/01/2014 18:45

Hi flofly! That is a downer to start 2014 but hopefully it gets better from here. Identifying the problem is the first step, if there is an issue with DH SA then they can hopefully start the process of helping you get there

Is that book good unicorns? I've heard it mentioned a few times but not looked it up. I've read Zita West which was informative but... Still no BFP!

You could wait until your cycle returns to normal before temping? I don't find it difficult at all. Only tricky bit is making sure you take your temp exactly the same time every morning otherwise results can come up as inaccurate and harder to figure out your ovulating day. I'm no expert as I've only been doing it for 3 months! Though I'm sure some if the ladies on here could offer some useful advice too?

Helen87 · 02/01/2014 17:24

Pinkhat- I've not tried anything yet really. I'm not sure if it's too soon or if it's a good idea to start working it out from this early after coming off the pill?! I might see if I have a more normal cycle this month and then take it from there. I'm hoping it goes back to normal but I've read so much saying it can take ages.

Is it complicated? Had a quick look online at the book Unicorn recommended and that seems to go in to a lot of detail!

Flofly1 · 02/01/2014 15:59

Hello - I would love to join this... I joined the BFP 2013 - got pregnant in Jan and then miscarried - since then..... nothing.

First sample of husband's sperm has come back with low motility - he is being retested.

Trying to be positive for 2014 but it's a bit of a knock at the beginning. :(

Great thread though.... could do with some chums!

PinkHat1 · 02/01/2014 15:51

Jesse I can't keep up with the buses thread which is why I decided not to join in this month. Also glad this thread was created.

Helen not sure if I can suggest anything different to Unicorn. Have you tried temping? That helped me work out whether I was ovulating or not.

Helen87 · 02/01/2014 15:39

Ah right, sounds complicated! I really had no idea how much hassle it could all cause until I came off it. I'm sure no one told me!

Thanks for that, I'll have a look for it :) I'm trying not to get obsessed but it's hard! My closest friends all have little babies and they all got pregnant within 3 months of trying. But obviously not everyone gets that lucky!

UnicornsNotRiddenByGrownUps · 02/01/2014 15:35

Was on the implant not the pill. But before that been on the injection, the coil for 24 hours and the pill. Body is messed up!!

I'd recommend the 'Taking Charge of Your Fertility' book. That's really helpful!
