The smallprint –
Berries have a strict entrance criteria (TTC #1, over 30, TTC for 6+months (preferably 12+) NO instadiffers, must have a special pot and def no mention of baby dust or baby dancing UGH !!! Ooooh aren’t we strict!

The 17th thread, wow! This had better be it ladies, time to get off the Sofa of Pity onto the Pouffe of Positivity and beyond!

Barking I'm also in an area with just one IVF cycle on the NHS. Agreed, it's shit.
Parsley I saw that thread title and avoided it, reading that would just make me really jealous and angry.
I really wish I could say what I'm really thinking, and tell people in real life what I'm really feeling.

happylass · 27/01/2014 21:27

Ugh

Thanks for all the advice berries. Difference for me Kitty could be that it's my PCT that funds IUI and it's done in my local hospital whereas its the Welsh Health Board that funds IVF which is done at a different hospital in a different PCT. Guess we'll just have to see what the consultant says in March. Have already pretty much decided that we'll pay for a round of IVF during the 18 month wait. Question is really should we delay getting on the IVF list to have a shot at NHS IUI? Or alternatively do we pay for a go at IUI instead of IVF whilst we wait? Whilst this is the cheaper option it's also the less successful one ......

Barking. What have you been told so far? What are you entitled to for a start?

barkingtreefrog · 27/01/2014 21:09

grumble.... mutter..... ivf..... lottery..... Not under 35?.... too expensive.... grumble.... not fair.... mutter....... stupid mc..... hmph...... bad day..... didn't sleep.... too much ivf googling.... stupid bump at work..... mutter... grumble.... grumble... grumble....

BlindKitty · 27/01/2014 19:06

happy if your fc works like mine then you wouldn't be able to have funded iui whilst you wait, the reason being is that they can only refer you for one treatment at a time. Not sure if you remember me secretly taking clomid whilst on the iui/ivf waiting list (even though the consultant knew really!). What about enquiring privately? Know you've not got cash to burn but it might be worth considering. It certainly was for me

Bunnygirlie · 27/01/2014 18:48

FX happy for extra fertile time Smile

RevoltingPeasant · 27/01/2014 18:08

happy could you do private IUI whilst on the IVF list, as I imagine private IUI would be considerably less £££ than private IVF???

I'm CD17 so tonight is last night of The Shagathon (TM). Poor DH hurt his back over Christmas and the mad passion brought it back on so he had to have an ibuprofen afterwards on Sat. We are SO middle-aged Grin Grin

happylass · 27/01/2014 17:07

Yes Feather the nurse who did my HSG said I'd be more fertile in the next few months. Pretty sure I'm OVing at the moment so will jump DP as soon as he gets in Grin

I'm allowed 1 round of private IVF whilst waiting on the NHS list so can't see why I wouldn't be allowed IUI but who knows! Another question for my next appt.

FeatherFeather11 · 27/01/2014 16:48

Ps. Apparently one is 'more fertile' after a hsg, happy, so if I were you, I know what I'd be doing Wink

FeatherFeather11 · 27/01/2014 14:58

happy my FC said that it's not possible to do any other treatments while on the ivf waiting list - clomid, IUI, etc etc. not sure if that's the widespread rule or whether it varies from area to area.

happylass · 27/01/2014 12:43

Kitty the consultant mentioned IUI last time we were there. What I didn't think of asking was if we're able to have IUI whilst on the waiting list for IVF or if we'd have to try the IUI before being put on the list. Anyone know? As long as it doesn't delay our wait for IVF I'd be happy to give it a shot. Our local hospital offers IUI but we'd have to go to Cardiff for IVF so guessing the wait would be a lot less. Will definitely put this on my list of things to ask in the next appointment.

By the way I've had really bad OV pains today, could this be that my tubes are still a bit tender from the HSG??It's only been 5 days so guess it's a possibility.

BlindKitty · 27/01/2014 10:57

gill happy the stats are based on women completing their application forms after the birth. Mine is currently crumpled with some baby oil spilt over it! Although I'll endeavour to get it back there must be loads of people that forget or lose their questionnaires, therefore, flawing the stats.

happy have you thought about trying an iui whilst you wait?

Bunnygirlie · 27/01/2014 08:26

It is very unfair barking hugs Flowers

Hey hazle thanks for popping in to see me Smile

bunny I just heard, massive congratulations! Thanks
Come join us on FB, we have a page where we share baby and scan pics.

barkingtreefrog · 26/01/2014 22:51

Been doing some depressing googling. It's relatively cheap to do IVF via egg share at the ACU we will be going to (they do both NHS and paid cycles) but you have to be under 35. We won't even get referred until March. By the time we've had a cycle it'll be too late to qualify for the egg share. If I hadn't had my bfp last summer and subsequently took an additional 4 months to jump the clomid hoop, we would have been having IVF right now, and if it failed we'd have time to try again with egg share. Now we won't. This whole business is so f*ing unfair Angry .

Bunnygirlie · 26/01/2014 22:40

puppy glad all is going well with you Smile

Thanks funky

Oh janey so good to see you! Thank you so much.

parsley that's just mean, I want wine and pâté Wink Eating well done steak and roast beef this weekend sucked lol

Nope Gill nothing wrong as far as I know. Consultant ordered HSG, AMH test and another SA for DP on last visit which have all been done now so we're just waiting for follow up appointment which looks like mid-March. Had our first shag with intent last night in over 5 months so we're very much back in the game! Fx I'll have some good news to announce at the wedding! How's things with you?

Pipbin · 26/01/2014 22:16

Funky People saying 'relax and it will happen' should be punished without mercy. I can't talk to one of my dearest friends about this because she had two babies without problem even though her chap had a missing knacker and was away being in the army. Yes they are his.

Sid, I've done the IVF twice now. I'll happily talk you through it and answer questions. Feel free to PM if you want to.

Bunny Don't leave without me .......................................... I think we are the two most senior berries!

I was thinking today that by the summer this will all be over. Either I will be updiffed or I'll have had all my IVFs.
In a funny kind of way it is a relief to know that TTCing is going to end. Although we will never use contraception again, I just don't think I'm going to carry on working out ov dates and stuff after.

Parsley2506 · 26/01/2014 21:55

funky I was there was something equally as irritating we could say to insta differs/basically anyone who ever says that, so they know how stupidly annoying and unhelpful they're being!

Making the most of the end of AF week here with a soft cheese, pate and wine feast!

Gillster · 26/01/2014 21:40

Happy have they actually found anything wrong with you guys yet? If not, I'm expecting some pre-wedding or honeymoon diffment from you. I wouldn't get too hung up on the stats just yet. Our clinic told me 27% and I'll be 40 in March. There's quite a delay in reporting the actual numbers (over a year I think) so they could actually be a bit better than you think.

janey1234 · 26/01/2014 21:37

Oh bunny massive congratulations. Another here who started ttc at the same time, absolutely delighted for you x

funkymonk · 26/01/2014 21:34

Already said it on FB, but many congratulations to you again bunny! I am so so happy for you!

Been to visit my instadiffer friend today (2 children 17months apart) who told me 'just relax, it'll happen'. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaggggggghhhhhhh. NOT helpful!!
