But you can only speak for your own consultations. We all behave differently at different times. All you can say is that in your consultations with him, he was perfectly pleasant etc (as he was in mine) but you can't say he is like that with everyone, every day!

I'm also happy to hear you too have had a pleasant experience with Dr S. I think you may have misunderstood me. I spoke for myself personally regarding my future pregnancies. Of course this is no fan page for a particular person but I felt like the comments did Dr S injustice, especially when my experience with him was far from what some were describing. Nonetheless, I bear in mind that others may have more complex issues than mine to treat but this wasn't a discussion of his capabilities but rather him as a person and I felt as though they weren't fair or representative of who he is in his consultations at all. I hope that clears it up for you Brand! :)

I'm really happy to hear that Cleo and I too have had no negative experiences with Mr S - but I think your post is very undermining of those who have had less pleasant encounters with him, and who have fertility issues more complex than his form of treatment tries to address. Why would you wish other women to stick with his protocol if it just isn't working?

I think I have "bog standard" auto-immune issues and he has given my body the help it needed to carry to term. But others have different issues and sometimes a different approach is required. People can speak their mind here, it's not a fan club.

I'm a newbie here and was interested looking through this thread as I found a few comments that weren't very reflective of the introductory post describing this as a 'positive thread for all those diagnosed with High or Very High NK Cells.'

I am sorry to hear about all your losses and experiences. Many congratulations to those who have been blessed with little angels as I was on my successful treatment with Dr S recently after 5 miscarriages! The stories I am hearing here are not resonating with me at all actually. I have had a brilliant experience with Dr S and I can't praise his work enough. He gave me hope when I had none, but was also realistic about my possibilities. He seemed to know what he was doing; and his treatment's success is a testament to that. I highly valued his opinions during our consultations (which were very welcoming and not in the slightest bit rude) and so I decided to recommend him to a few of my friends who had similar problems. I'm happy to say they all came back as happy as ever with their consultations and successful treatments and actually berated me for not telling them about Dr S sooner!

Personally, I would definitely stick with Dr S regardless of what is said on this post as I'm sure there must be a misunderstanding somewhere. He is definitely delivering any more babies I decide to have in the future!

I was induced at 38wks due to my miscarriage history and baby being slightly small. he was born at 10.30pm on tues (7th) weighing 5lbs 9.

I also believe that pregnancy can lower the NK cells - I fell ill as soon as I conceived DS (my first, didn't even know I had an NK cell issue back then) and spectacularly ill with DD (my only other successful pregnancy). In fact I'm certain that I only managed to have DD at all because my immune system crashed completely, exactly at that time. I had everything: rampant thrush, colds, recurrent flu, norovirus, even had a lymph node infection. Both sprogs were fine!

Brown, 5 days of positive OPKS - are you using the cheapie tests? I once had a bizarre run of seemingly positive results with those when the lines were dark for days but maybe not dark enough, and suspected in the end that I may not have ovulated that month. Re drowsiness: I'm leaning towards thinking it's caused by the Ovitrelle in my case. It's wearing off now, round about the time the Ovitrelle should be leaving the building.

I am 5 weeks today, and it feels so so far from any first goal to hit. I have my first hospital appt on Monday, to sort out further prescription for pred, aspirin, heperin, progesterone and anything else they feel like throwing at me.

Village, Mr S told me that you're not really any more likely to get infections; I have never found any difference myself so I wouldn't worry too much about it. I didn't get any illnesses when I took them for the first trimester with my DS and I've also resisted the many bugs that have been around over the last few weeks despite being on steroids.
I did have drowsiness on the steroids incidentally but assumed that was pregnancy not the steroids. Can't remember if it started before I was actually pregnant, i.e from ovulation, or not.
Well, this is my 5th day of a positive ovulation test. Bordering on polycystic ovary syndrome due to DHEA methinks ...

village and team I didn't notice it so much on the steroids but caught flu for the first time in years - I hadnt even had a cold in recent memory, so I think pregnancy does lower those NK cells..

I had cramping too - I think it's your ligaments stretching ant making room and as village says, the embryo tucking itself in!

Team I always have cramping until about 5 weeks as the embryo makes itself comfortable! If your MIL had the flu earlier this week and is up and about again she shouldn't be contagious any more, fingers crossed! I'll only be testing next weekend, still ages away.

village yes you are more susceptible to catching bugs whilst on preds so try to avoid ill people! I always catch colds whilst on the steroids.

Team how are you feeling today?

I have a question about pred for all you knowledgeable ladies. Since it's an immune suppressant, does that mean you are more susceptible to catching whatever's around while taking it? Am assuming so since last month I caught the norovirus when I normally never catch a thing! Do you all try and avoid people in daily life with the lurg, or do you just soldier on and hope for the best? Was looking after a friend's DS this morning, the poor lad has a throat infection and badly swollen glands, and it was only afterwards that I suddenly thought, eek, should I be doing this while ttc on pred?
