Fantastic news fedup, so pleased how things have turned around and we've got a lovely succession of positive news events now. Just goes to show if we could glimpse into a crystal ball we would worry less (hopefully) about what was coming up for us as things have a way of coming good in the end Grin

My birthday is end of this week. We normally go away but I had an inkling that that wouldn't be a good idea this time so we are having a Staycation, and thank god we are really as I'm not going to know till tomorrow whether I have really come to the end of this mc. I've still got this nagging doubt about whether I'm retaining tissue. I've got no cramping and the lightest of spotting but I really need closure on it.

Does this thread run out at 25 pages? I can't remember.

And ps no harm to go to doctors... And get ball rolling but you will prob get preggers this month as a result! Wink

fedupofrainydays · 09/02/2014 07:22

Thank you ginger
Well I started doing all this as I was unhappy in my job and was waiting to have another baby so could leave once on mat leave so I decided I was leaving anyway in the summer and felt so much better immediately. IF this pregnancy goes the distance I will prob stick it out til mat leave but If I lose it and leaving in the summer as planned.

I read a great weblink (a bit American but v good) about miscarriage after you start to question what you did and didn't do to cause it - is very good. Will track it down. Basically says nothing you did caused it, it's just fertilised egg wasn't right and not that you drank coffee!

I read it over a few times when feeling down about my mc and also sent to friends who were questionning everything they did when they mc.

I know. My mum was like - you know before your period is due?! She said with me she went to the doctors as she was having heart fluttering and thought she was really ill and the doctor was immediately -noooo, you are pregnant!! But knowing as early as we do now and almost too much about it all medically can be more of a head fuck.

Yay for smiley face!! Get on it!

GingerbreadBabyPlease · 08/02/2014 21:38

Hurray! Congratulations Fedup, that is amazing, and on top of your BFP, hopefully everything will start going your way now! Congratulations Brew
Maybe some chocolate to celebrate?
Good advice re pelvic floor muscles, I really must make a concerted effort to do them if I don't want to be wearing incontinence pads by the time I'm 30!
Sebs that was interesting what you said about it not being another baby that you need to fill the void, what a great idea to get some volunteering under your belt and focus just on you for a bit, hopefully it will be just what you need to get pregnant!! Also your advice/summary made me chuckle, you are so right, in fact I am going to save those words somewhere and refer back to them when I start worrying about whether I've drunk too much coffee that day!!
Cake stop POASing! Good luck for your appt on monday, and I hope that everything turns out just fine for you. And please keep lurking! Also I think I'm starting to agree that maybe back to basics is better. It's great that we have the advancements we do in modern medicine today, but I think sometimes it can be worse to know too much. The more we know that can affect/alter getting pregnant and the more we know that can go wrong, the more there is for us to worry about and the worse it can be. I think the old days must have been alot more clearcut - you wait for your period to be late, get it confirmed by the doctor then wait patiently and hopefully until that first scan!! None of this pissing in tealight holders and tracking your temperature!
Punky I 'm afraid I don't have the knowledge that the others do, but I am keeping everything crossed for you, and hope you reach 12 weeks with no hiccups, that goes for you too Fedup, I am hoping and praying it all goes well for the ladies on here now, you have all coped admirably with what has been thrown at you and deserve for 2014 to be an easy and happy year!
In my corner, I finally got a smiley on an opk today, CD16 so a bit later in my cycle than usual, so just hoping AF makes a late appearance so my LP isn't too ridiculously short. (obviously a no show would be even better! ) Think I might go ahead and ring the Drs anyway on monday and get the ball rolling...

fedupofrainydays · 08/02/2014 17:31

It is weird when you are desperado for a neg hpt. I remember the first one I did a week after my erpc was the strongest bfp ever. It was horrible but that was 12 weeks of raging hormones all built up so I'm sure yours will go down quicker sebs (I hope) although I guess it's been a week already.

So... On non ttc or pregnancy news I PASSED! I can officially teach now. So relieved and means I can finally have a night off. Normally I would have a few drinks to celebrate but today it's decaf tea Shock

sebsmummy1 · 08/02/2014 12:09

Thinking of you Punky, hoping you get reassurance really soon xx

Feeling ok today. Cervix is now high and closed, bleeding minimal, hpt test showing fainter. I still think it's weird that I had no cramping and didn't see anything that resembled the sac, but a week today I was passing huge amount of mucus and clots so I wonder if it happened then and I just didn't realise. Will see what the sonographer says tomorrow. Who would have thought id be relieved to be told my uterus was clear and a pregnancy test was negative. Crazy!!

PunkyBubba · 08/02/2014 07:46

Thanks Sebs and Fedup, I'm having another hcg test tomorrow when if the pain is still there I am going to push for... Something!! They haven't booked another scan, I think it is dependent on the hcg, but last time it rise normally so I'm really just praying for a good scan ASAP as that is the only thing that can put my mind at rest.

The free fluid was in the pelvis I think. The pain is central, as it was last time. Just like bad indigestion. It is slightly less this morning but last time was also the same. Roll on the next scan I say!

fedupofrainydays · 07/02/2014 22:39

punky you poor thing. It would take a super human to remain strong at what you are going through. Where is the pain? Centred? Did they say where the free flui was, just in pelvis? Apparently blood in pouch of Douglas (or whatever they go on about is pretty common) as is fluid from ov ( I had that at my scans for cysts). I almost this it's worse scan ing you that early as at 4 weeks I didn't think you would see anything... And 6 weeks is best for a location scan. I'm thinking of you and can imagine how worried you are and how you feel, I really can.

sebs hmmm I don't know - maybe, partic as you had no cramping. But could also mean there is still a baby. What a head fuck though. Hang on til Monday, not long now but will get you those answers you so need.

I don't know about me. The world isn't fair so I could just as easily have another mc. I've got no blood which is my personal panic but also this is the first preg I didn't have implantation cramps so now worried about that and it will be another blighted ovum or whatever. I wish I was still naive and carefree pregnant. I think I am 4 plus 3 but not sure. Told my mum today when she had got me a particularly strong coffee that I refused. She's v happy for me but naturally more cautious this time - in nov she was ridiculously blasé about the bleeding.

Right better get myself pizza stuffed self off to bed.... Night and big (non MN) hugs for you sebs and punky tonight xxxx

sebsmummy1 · 07/02/2014 21:30

Oh Punky I can hear the fear in your words. Can totally understand how worried you must feel, particularly since your last experience.

When is your next scan and are they going to do more bloods to check the hcg is rising as you would expect?

Thinking of you and praying you get the reassuring news soon that everything is as it should be xxx

I've just been plunged back into a dark place by someone who posted that they thought I was still retaining the pregnancy sac and I hadn't actually miscarried yet. I think they could be right and I'm scared all over again Sad

OP posts:
PunkyBubba · 07/02/2014 21:07

I'm so sorry Sebs, just seen the news :( I echo what everyone else has said though. You sound very strong, and certainly have the right attitude. I hope I will be as strong if the worst happens.

Thanks Geta for what you said, made me quite emotional. Hope I don't change your mind with what I am about to say as it may show I'm not as strong as you think.

So I've spent most of this week an anxious wreck, managed to get an appt for the GP yesterday who then referred me to EPU and I got an appt this morning. I'm only 4 weeks 1day so wasn't expecting much, and unsurprising nothing seen on the scan except an area of blood (which they said MAY be from implantation, and some free fluid which MAY be from ovulation, and a thickened uterus. So fairly neutral really. Today's hcg test came back at 619 which apparently is really good for how far I am... And I do another test on Sunday to check if the levels are rising as they should.... So again all sounding fairly positive... Except ever since I woke up this morning I've had terrible abdominal pain.. Like bad indigestion.. Just like when I had my ectopic... It's totally freaked me out and to be honest I'm pretty sure this one is going to end badly. I just keep thinking about that 'free fluid'in the uterus now, and the blood, and wondering if I'm already rupturing. The pain is just constant and it's hard for me to believe it is anything else after what happened last time. Anyway, just thought I'd keep you updated.. Keep your fingers crossed for me, I'm really hoping for a miracle.xxx

sebsmummy1 · 07/02/2014 15:39

No, it's at light period level, marking a pad every 2 hours.

Good tip re cough medicine.

Fed up if the world has any justice left in it you deserve to sail through this pregnancy without any problems xxxx

OP posts:
fedupofrainydays · 07/02/2014 14:57

Staying away from sticks is a good idea. I'm so tempted by digi but don't want to as if only says 1 -2 weeks will be stressing!! I have just exhibited excellent restraint by going to superdrug and not buying any tests!!

Cough medicine you take the recommended dose 3 times a day during fertile period. You need some cm already for it to work. Use the red robutisson one as it's the guanefera or whatever that is the magic ingredient

Sebs had the bleeding stopped now?

sebsmummy1 · 07/02/2014 13:30

As if to prove a point I ordered some hpt ICs to chart my hcg level on it's way down so I know when I'm no longer showing a positive. Well the test line is as dark as the control line even though I miscarried on Saturday. It will stay this way for potentially 4-6 weeks.

I think once you get a positive move away from the tests as they really cannot tell you much more.

OP posts:
Cakebaker35 · 07/02/2014 12:21

Sebs not depressing at all, just totally right! I think it's information overload these days, was chatting to my mum yesterday and she was pregnant in the days before home tests existed so no one ever really knew much early on and there was therefore less time to stress, I like the sound of that! Roll on 12 wks, it can't come soon enough - but then I'll just find something else to worry about Blush

zippygeorgebungle · 07/02/2014 11:49

sebs, your positive outlook is making me a bit tearful, oddly. You sound brilliant, your friends must be lucky to have someone so strong around. It's hard re work, I love my work but I struggle a bit. I work FT but funny hours so I still get to do lots of childcare and work in the evenings and early morning. Sleep and tv isnt plentiful but I guess that is the same for all mums.

Gingerbread, the physio was great for everything. I sometimes think my pelvic floor is stronger than before I was ever pregnant which is quite a good result from where I was post birth and having no control. Fedup is right about the exercises, they show you how to do different types and it worked miracles for me.

Fedup when did you take the cough medicine? And how are you doing?

sebsmummy1 · 07/02/2014 10:09

Cake you are absolutely right about POAS. Makes no difference whatsoever to your outcome so stop.

These are things I have learned:

  1. you can piss in a thousand sticks and get strong lines but it makes no difference to the outcome
  2. you can make the clearblue digi go up in the correct increments but it makes no difference to the outcome
  3. you can put your feet up, eat all the right things and take your vitamins but it makes no difference to the outcome
  4. you can spot brown blood and receive assurances but it makes no difference to the outcome
  5. you can even have an early scan and measure right for dates but it makes no difference to the outcome
  6. you can even see a heart beat! But it makes no difference to the outcome

So you can see, the only thing I would advice anyone to do is get to 12 weeks and get a good scan under your belt, THEN that will make a huge difference to the outcome.

Hope that hasn't come across as depressing.

Cakebaker35 · 07/02/2014 09:30

Sebs I am so so very sorry. Your outlook and positivity are an inspiration and I am sure that it will happen for you in the future but it is brilliant you've decided to look at volunteering and to shift focus. Wishing you all the very best and sending you very unMN hugs x

Everyone else, I'm lurking and trying to keep up with your news but it moves so fast! Hope everyone is doing ok and as for smep I never had the stamina for that either! DTD every other day for a week over cds 9 - 17 i think and I'm very fortunate to have a BFP.

Hearing your stories about birth and issues post birth brings it all back - I don't think anyone expects it to be easy but wow I'm not sure I ever realised just what an effect it can have on you until it happened - I had a very traumatic labour with a failed forceps delivery resulting in emcs and that was extremely hard physically and mentally to come to terms with. I'll never be able to feel positive about it but just focus on the fact dd and I made it thanks to the very timely intervention of an amazing consultant and the excellent care we received.

I have my first docs appointment Monday. I stupidly poas the other day and the clearblue indicator thingy didn't say I was as far along as I thought so really stupidly stressed myself out. Did another one the following day and that put me a bit further along but still perhaps not so far as I expected. Anyway, I've decided to stop being an idiot and poas-ing as there's not alot to be done anyway if my hormones aren't where they should be! Far too early to think about birth options but a slight feeling of dread does lurk in the back of my mind about how to decide between vbac or elcs....but anything could happen between now and then so I'll cross that bridge when/if we come to it.

Sorry for the essay!

I'll keep lurking, best wishes to everyone xxxxx

sebsmummy1 · 07/02/2014 08:15

Ooh id forgotten about the cough medicine. I put mine away when we moved in November, I shall dig it back out again!

I am going to look into doing some volunteering with a view to it helping my employment prospects in the future. I think getting pregnant proved to me it wasn't really not having another child that was going to fill the void I have currently. It is not working that is really causing the void, so I need to sort that out and then hopefully the baby will follow on afterwards.

Plus we have agreed that if I can't have anymore children we are going to get a puppy instead Grin

Pps. Thanks geta. And hi!! How many wks are you now?? Dildoos hasn't been here for a while but I did spot her on the BESH thread which I visited after my mc as was feeling dark but it the chat all moved too fast for me Blush

fedupofrainydays · 07/02/2014 08:04

Ps. Pelvic floor exercise work wonders. I too had weak bowel and bladder after ds and always had to dash to loo. It was scary but after religiously doing my exercises for a few months it was heaps better. Try and plan a time in for the exercises each day with something routine - like when you go to the loo or when get in to bed, driving, turn on TV or whatever. and Pilates helps too as it's about engaging all those muscles.

fedupofrainydays · 07/02/2014 08:01

Sebs am glad you shared with the thread - we are here for the good and the bad news and to hold hands throughout the ups and downs. I'm amazed at your positivity and ability to see the wider perspective. I could learn a lot from you! That is horrendous re the lady who was ttc for six years. Heartbreaking for them. We are so blessed with our little children and partners and I remind myself never to take them for granted.

I hope you are ok though sebs and glad you are getting on with ttc as soon as you can. I hope you get a bfp again soon. As it was a fairly early loss I hope cycles will be normal very soon. After my first mc at 12 wks it took 10 months ttc but only 2 after my last loss much earlier so have everything crossed for you. But don't put too much pressure on yourselves.

Girls I didn't tell you that both times I've got pregnant were months with cough medicine consumption. I worry my ewcm is too thick hence why I take it. Another gimmick to try if you fancy something new this month / have a cough??!!

If I pass the exam I will be a gym instructor level I still need to do my PT level 3 and exam for that is July. My mum is coming to help today so I can do some practice as very scared about failing as have not prepared as been so busy with normal work, being a mummy and just bloody knackered! Wish me luck.

GingerbreadBabyPlease · 06/02/2014 23:36

Sebs you are so right. Wise lady! When i put my problems into perspective-i have so much to be grateful for, and i try and remember that when i get really sad and fed up with it all. Its not going how i had hoped and planned, but i have led a very happy and lucky life up to this point in the grand scheme of things. That said it is still hard to not give in to the sadness somedays. 6 years..that poor woman. I took 8 years to arrive so i hope there is still some hope for her in the future. Zippy i didnt even realise physio existed for that! Gosh my list for the dr just keeps growing...

It's weird but I'm so happy with my partner and my son and our future that it's really difficult to be sad.

I have been through a lot of adversity in my life and have been to some hellishly dark places that I never thought I'd crawl out from. When eventually you are basking in sunlight the darkness is merely temporary shade. I guess that's hope I feel right now.

To give some perspective another lady on my (now ex) antenatal thread found herself unexpectedly pregnant after 6 years TTC. Very sadly she miscarried yesterday. I cannot imagine how totally devastated she must feel right now and I wish I could take her pain away.

We should be grateful for the problems we have as we would keep them in a heart beat if we had the option of taking someone elses xxxxx

zippygeorgebungle · 06/02/2014 22:23

Gingerbread, have you tried being referred for some physio to help with the soreness? Mine was brilliant and I bought a pericalm unit off amazon as they recommended that at the hospital.

sebs, we are all thinking of you xxx
