TTC in January

My DP and I have made a decision to start TTC in January! I literally cannot wait.

All I seem to be doing is looking on the Internet and finding out what I can do to prepare. Such and exciting time but I'm worried it could soon become stressful!

Anyone else on the January bus? If so how are you managing the excitement?!

we kinda tried in September, just after the wedding, i was a nervous wreck by the time my period came (on time). every little thing was a symptom. I've learned a lot about my body over the last 3 months i really hope that it will help me come January and I don't turn into a crazy person constantly squeezing by boobs wondering if they are sensitive due to PMS or Pregnancy.

I really hope i get pregnant quickly!

lollzy91 · 05/12/2013 13:51

Pebble82 I can already see me being a bit of a control freak over this.. wanted to try and be relaxed and take each day as it comes but we haven't even started TTC yet and I'm already going through a million different scenarios, a tonne of different things to try etc.

I have this perfect idea about getting a BFP first try in January but realistically I know it wont happen..doesn't stop a girl dreaming though!

I just hope it doesn't get me down... I can see it happening easily. When you want something so much I guess theres all sorts of emotions flying around.

Hello ladies!!
Took my last pillow Sunday eeeek seriously crazy stuff! Off on holiday over Christmas so before that I am just going to be reasonably good and try the having sex thing every other day, take my folic acid and bit d, cut down on the caffeine and drink minimal amount (don't really drink unless on a proper night out and cos is holiday we have planned a quiet dec)! Going to enjoy my hols and just let it take it's cause till jan and then will have a better idea about ovulating my then as have no idea at the mo!

Good luck chicks and my bday is in sept - would love a matching bday!!

pebble82 · 03/12/2013 15:18

lollzy91 I'm trying exactly the same thing as you to begin with. Thought about taking my temp each day but I don't want to get too stressed out and obsessed (I'm like that, always wanting to be in control).

Also glad to hear DPs/DHs are the same as mine. He's agreed and is pretty positive but it would be going a bit far to describe him as enthusiastic. I suppose for men that all happens when baby actually arrives. A bit like them always buying all Christmas gifts on Christmas Eve Wink

I've just got first AF since coming off the pill in October :) Ideally I'd like a September baby but I think timings would risk an August birth. Not that it really matters though, so excited to start TTC.

Good luck everyone x

i know i wish i was chilled, i have a week of work left then off on holidays, i cant get a tap of work done! keep looking stuff up and letting my mind wander

lollzy91 · 03/12/2013 13:20

Oops didn't mean to send that ...

The whole researching everything minute of the day and can't get it off my mind thing! He sees it as what will be will be... But when you're feeling like I am about it (and a lot of other people feel) what will be will be isn't good enough!

I wish I was as chilled out as he is.

I know what you mean rockin20s I keep doing things like that! Not like I'm emotional enough about the whole thing Nevermind adding to it!

Babies do seem to be everywhere, that or pregnant women!

DP definately doesn't quite understand the wh

Why do i do this to myself?

I just looked up my possible due date if i ovulate over Christmas and it came up as my wedding anniversary. Why do i do this to myself. I'm all teary now in work hoping it will happen!

rockin20s · 02/12/2013 12:42

Ya I seem to be seeing pregnant women and babies everywhere! the DH just says its the demographic in our area, lot of new house, young families but I'm sure the amount of babies have doubled in the last 6 months.

I asked him last night if he wanted to know if i was ovulating or not. he thought about it for a while and said no, then later said he didn't mind. hhhmmmmm.

i work away from home so i think i'll end up telling him. i thought i was ovulating on a friday last week but it ended up being thursday. if this happens over the next few months its the difference of getting pregnant or not as i dont get home till friday night, the fertile will already be closing.

Blithereens · 02/12/2013 12:00

Oh, me! I'm having my IUD out soon and then it'll be TTC all the way. I've already been on folic acid for six months because I read in a book that can help (so it begins!) I don't know if it's true but my hair and nails look lovely! Xmas Grin

Yesterday I had brunch with my oldest friend, who is five months pregnant. I'm so happy for her as she has had terrible trouble TTC, but it's sent my baby fever into overdrive!

Hibou7688 · 01/12/2013 20:02

I'm also signing up to ttc in jan (if I don't get a dec bfp first!) :)

lollzy91 · 01/12/2013 19:11

Welcome somersetsinger

How exciting is everything now you've decided to ttc?! Its all I think about and I too worry that I will talk about it too much.

January doesn't seem so close anymore now I feel like its going so slowly! Hard not to get obsessed!

somersetsinger · 01/12/2013 09:34

Right. I'm signing up for TTC in January 2014 and am pretty excited!

DH and I agreed to try and I'm a bit worried that I will talk about it nonstop and put him off, so its good to have an outlet here. I took him to Boots to buy some folic acid yesterday and he didn't bat an eyelid. And I managed not to get carried away and buy a mega-cute little baby-gro!

rockin20s · 29/11/2013 10:00

well I think I ovulated yesterday, so that is the last one before we start trying!!!!!

I would recomend you start charting symptoms after you ovulate as once you start TTC then every sore boob, bad taste in mouth etc is a pregnancy symptom.

I have been very surprised that I have sore boobs from 7 days past ovulation (DPO) to about 10 dpo the last two cycles. we kinda TTC that first month after the wedding and I was completely convinced i was pregnant due to the sore boobs.

I'm from a scientific background so for me knowing what my baseline is will stop me going crazy during the two week wait (well in theory anyway LOL)

angelicjen · 28/11/2013 15:39

Aw Freya, that's lovely. Good luck to you and everyone else too.

EnableEditing · 27/11/2013 22:52

Hello! I have been reading all of your happy, hopeful posts and would like to join. DH and I are both teachers, so an August baby would be so wonderful. Off to look at that spermmeetseg website...

Freyathecatt · 27/11/2013 21:16

Hi guys, i'm going to hop on the bus too, ttc bub #2. Our son is almost 8 months old and we're hoping to get #2 underway reasonably pronto. I've only had one period so i have absolutely no idea about my cycle but fingers crossed.

GOOD LUCK to everyone trying, i hate to be one of those rubbish gushy people (i'm usually pretty grinchy) but having my son was the BEST experience ever and i cannot wait to add to our little family.

lollzy91 · 27/11/2013 20:48

I'm going to try and cut down over xmas and not drink as much as usually would be as we are starting TTC in Jan it shouldn't be an issue anyway.

The wait is killing me, I want to get started!

IT really is so difficult not to hope and dream, trying so hard not to but its taking over my thoughts completely!

OP posts:
angelicjen · 27/11/2013 20:28

Thanks lollzy. Had a look and it does make sense. Seems like best strategy is just to have a lot of sex! That's gonna be interesting as we're spending the new year week in a holiday house with OH's family! But we'll be away in our most favourite place, relaxed, happy and not at work, so I have not very secret hope that timing will be right and we can make a little Cornish baby.

Isn't it hard not to hope and dream about perfect scenarios...

Cakebaker35 · 27/11/2013 17:14

Same as you rockin I don't drink much so think I'll stick to the usual this month (very hard to avoid over Xmas) and then hit the wagon in Jan as well as making sure my diet etc is back to norm after the Xmas indulgences.

rockin20s · 27/11/2013 16:07

Are any of ye cutting back on alcohol now that ye are TTC? i dont think i will over christmas but if this first month doesnt give us a BFP then i think for cycle two i will stop drinking.

i dont drink much anyway, just a few glasses of wine at the weekend, but still every little helps i suppose

lollzy91 · 26/11/2013 17:29

Me and DP really have no reason to be on the January bus rather than any other month but we decided we were ready and after Christmas and new year seemed like a great time. Start 2014 with a plan and exciting times ahead.

We are hoping this time next year we will either be holding our little miracle or waiting for him/her to make an appearance.

Plus, with us wanting to keep it between us about TTC (and for the first 12 weeks when we do) we wouldn't have been able to manage it over xmas and new year as people rarely see me turn down a glass of vino!

KittyVonCatsington · 26/11/2013 17:26

Not really bothered about the 'August Baby' issue, if I get a BFP in
January. Baby could come early and be August born anyway! It would, however, be a lovely start to the year, but if not, I might get to have a little tipple on my birthday at the end of Janaury!

Hazelbrowneyes · 26/11/2013 14:26

The ideal time for us to have a baby is between October and March due to our work. Obviously, if it doesn't happen, we're not going to stop trying for 6 months of the year, we'll just make a summer 2015 baby work somehow! I don't really get the issue with having an August baby to be honest.

rockin20s · 26/11/2013 13:33

welcome aboard Jess

with my work it doesnt matter when due date is and I'm not too bother about what time of year I give birth.
Summer would be better for 3rd trimester clothes and heating the house when baby arrives etc
