New member alert!!!
My husband and I have just decided to ttc! We are both youngest in our family although both on mid 20s! We want our children to be close to their cousins who range from 2-5! Just hoping our brothers and sisters won't be judgemental as they were all in 30s when they started having children! We have been on nice holidays but feel that a baby is the next step and we are very excited! Just looking for some moral support!!!

Haha yeh that's one thing, "so I'm doing a dryathon"... 3 months later... "I'm pregnant!" Hmmm lol!!

I don't really drink a lot unless I go out at the weekends and special occasions, but have 2 weekends in feb that if I don't drink, it'll be too obvious and questions would be asked!! Crappy liar too!!

I'm just not going to test unless AF is well late, don't want to us up for disappointment and test too early! Although I think about it loads, I'm being relaxed about it, in that it'll happen when the times right!

pebble82 · 18/12/2013 23:44

I'm wondering whether to put off testing so I don't suffer the heartache of a chemical pg if it were to happen. Maybe then I'd never know any different.

You could say that as you feel so much healthier for giving up alcohol for one month you're going to see as long as you can last. I think if I do get BFP I'm going to feel pretty bad for collecting sponsorship under false pretences! Oh well, all for a good cause.

ReginaFelange22 · 18/12/2013 23:25

That's quite a good idea, if I could extend it February it would be helpful lol! Got a few things planned for then so could be an idea!! That's if the BFP arrives! I'm due on Boxing Day! No tests in the house. Tbh I'm too busy and have too much going on in my head for me to think about testing! Plus I won't do it without my OH!!

RetroHippy · 18/12/2013 20:55

DH and I just did dry January last year anyway. I think it's fairly well known so I don't think people will catch on. I'll be doing it again this year, pg or not. Helps with the suspicion if your DP is going sober too!

pebble82 · 18/12/2013 20:43

mummyinpink I can't see your photo, think your profile is set to private maybe. However, your situation makes me think even more that OPKs are just not worth the stress they cause. Do you get any other symptoms of OV you can watch out for? Sorry you're having such a confusing time.

On the subject of not drinking I have found out that cancer research are running a campaign called "dryathalon" in Jan. Basically people get sponsored not to drink. I think I might do that to answer any suspicions. www.cancerresearchuk.org/support-us/find-an-event/charity-challenges/dryathlon

Mummyinpink1289 · 18/12/2013 19:31

Im so confused Angry

Used 2 different brands of opk sticks tonight, i have uploaded a pic to my profile for u to see, one immediately came out with a strong line and one barely came up with a line at all - you probably wont be able to see the line in my pic but there is a very faint one.
However, point is one has a line and one doesn't, argh! What does this mean? Anyone else had this happen?

Treaclepie19 · 18/12/2013 17:25

Exciting toots :) AF/BFP is due for me on the 26th so will test xmas morning to know if I'm allowed a glass of champagne or not if I haven't tested 10 times by then :p

MrsF2510 · 18/12/2013 07:56

Things - just can't find it! Have downloaded an app though. Today is my most fertile day according to dates so really need to DTD tonight but hubby will not be back until late and he has further work to do! Got my work cut out!!!

toots123 · 18/12/2013 07:35

No idea when af/bfp is due treacle but going to test on 27th and have everything crossed. If not then will leave it a few days who am I kidding

ThingsThatGoHumpInTheNight · 18/12/2013 07:03

I use ovuview mrsf

MrsF2510 · 17/12/2013 22:55

Things - had a quick search and there are loads!! Which one do you recommend?

Treaclepie19 · 17/12/2013 22:42

Loving everyones drink dodging ideas :p
MrsF I'm hoping implantation as my ovulation would've bren very late. Plus used an opk and negative result :(
As far as giving DH drinks on sat, I can't cus its girls night :(
I too have been eating well gloats haha. Not today though as we've had a stressful evening at the vets.
Good luck everybody :) when are you all expecting BFP's?

ThingsThatGoHumpInTheNight · 17/12/2013 21:14

mrsf if you are tracking pains etc try ovuview- its a really good app. I can send you a recommendation if you like, or you can just search for it

pebble82 · 17/12/2013 21:01

I know, I think back to when I paid £20 for the morning after pill. What a waste of money that probably was given the chances!

KittyVonCatsington · 17/12/2013 20:49

Sorry to hear that, Things, rotten luck Sad. I'm currently CD31 and playing the waiting game for AF. It's an eye opener because when people say they are having a baby, it never occurred to me how much they might have waited for the BFP. Serves me right!

pebble82 · 17/12/2013 19:59

I'm fed up of OPKs as I KNOW I'm ovulating today as pains and ewcm is a dead giveaway but all OPKs have been no line at all apart from last Thursday when there was a faint line that I read at the time as negative. If it WAS positive then it's been 4days from LH surge to OV. That's too long isn't it??

Anyway at least now I have an idea of cycle length so will get better at predicting the old fashioned way.

OH was back from working away so managed to DTD on Sunday AM. Think that means I was at medium/low fertility so better than nothing. Wish I'd pestered him to do it again SUNDAY PM before he jetted off back to work for the week. Fingers crossed though, only takes once. BFP due NYE -now that'll be an awkward drinking/hiding it situation!

Hope all you ladies have lots of Christmas luck.

MrsF2510 · 17/12/2013 17:54

Mummyinpink that's what I was planning - this weekend we have friends staying over but fortunately being hostess I can probably discretely swap drinks / hide drinks / pretend non alcoholic is alcoholic!

Oh sorry to hear that Things but you have to try and think that it should be a good Christmas and new year for you with regards to eating and drinking what you like! Hopefully Jan is your month.

I am still refusing to use OPK sticks as so many people get confused by them and also I KNOW it will make me obsess more! Am trying to be 'in tune' with my body by keeping a diary of pains and feelings and actually day 14 (typical OV time) is tomorrow and both today and yest I have had stomach pains (only right side) so am assuming that's OV? What do you think? Had pains mid cycle last month too (before that have has no mid cycle pain as was on pill for 11 yrs) .

Mummyinpink1289 · 17/12/2013 16:35

god i have the opposite problem - DH is totally milking this whole ttc business, if i say im too tired he says 'but you might be ovulating!' as if thats an excuse every day to get some. ha. Oh well i supose he can only but try.

toots123 · 17/12/2013 16:11

I had a positive opk on Sunday and cm yesterday and today. Dtd Saturday and Monday. Not sure if I can convince dh that we should do it again tonight. Hahaha

ThingsThatGoHumpInTheNight · 17/12/2013 16:01

AF has arrived Sad bit disappointing not to get caught first month but thats life I suppose and it just means plenty of mulled wine over xmas (I should ovulate around the 1st jan) and then detox/healthy eating in jan Grin

Mummyinpink1289 · 17/12/2013 12:21

thanks threebee, mine was as dark as that but had a faded line going through the middle of it. Must not have been postitive whatever it was. losing hope of ever seeing a positive OPK line :-(

threebee · 17/12/2013 12:19

Sorry it posted before I had added the link! Like this: (Control line on the left of the picture, test line on the right)

threebee · 17/12/2013 12:18

Mummyinpink for an OPK to be positive, the test line needs to be as dark as, or dark than, the control line. Here's an example:

Mummyinpink1289 · 17/12/2013 11:49

loving the subject of hiding the no drinking thing over christmas, its usually me making DH have a drink so me not drinking is definately gonna give it away.

we have a meal planned for NYE so ive made a plan to use the whole 'i dont like drinking with my food' excuse then after food we are back to our house for drinks so i can just pretend im drinking my usual amoretto and coke but just minus the amoretto! Other than that i wont really be drinking bar some mimosa on christmas day :-).
The main thing will be hiding it at work, Pebble i have the same thing, a few of us have recently got married and a few others are 'due' another baby as everyone keeps saying so everytime one of us has any sort of symptom we get 'Are you pregnant?!' fired at us. Gonna be so awkward when i actually am as i hate lying and once i tell them they will all know i lied to them for 2 months. eek. Oh well. Has to be done i supose.

So these OPK sticks are still confusing me. I seem to get a positive like every other day so i must be reading them wrong. Can someone upload their positive OPK stick pictrue so i can see? I have read that LH is always in your system but peaks before ovulation so maybe im just reading them positive when they arent. So confusing. 3 weeks after coil was taken out and im still no closer to knowing my cylce. Angry
