TTC no 3? Anyone just started / about to start / about to start thinking about it?

I am absolutely not going to go nuts about it this time like I did for no 2. Because my kids have each other and won't be alone looking after their ancient parents in years to come. But a 3rd would be a bonus. And part of me doesn't care either way, and another part cannot wait for a lovely little snuggly new born. And part of me is enjoying getting my nights back, and my body, and is worried about the money, the lack of bedrooms, the need for a bigger car, having another miscarriage, or high risk pregnancy, a 3rd CS, a baby in intensive care. But then 5 months of no contraception and nothings happening..... The baby is 11 months, and we said we'd start putting more effort in once he is 1....

Anyone in the same boat? Want to hang out and worry / pretend not to worry?

Hello bonzo etc al! Sorry I have not been around and bonzo I missed your photo, but it sounds like it was not the news you were hoping for anyway. FWIW I can see a line on it! On CD16 here, of what must be cycle 9 (!), so we have been dtding. Still haven't been to Drs. Even more spotting this month and I think it is my body ageing. I did do one of those menopause tests (don't know how accurate they are), and it was negative. DH is still onboard but as each month goes on, the idea of a newborn is less appealing! If we had got pg when we started, then I would be about to have one! And if I'd got pg when we had stopped using contraception then I would have a proper baby by now. Scary. A couple more attempts for us I think, then I'm drawing the line. Good luck max. Good luck at Drs Bonzo.

bonzo77 · 31/03/2014 16:43

Hi max. I really hope any hopes you have are not in vain! Fingers crossed for you.

Hello all. Sorry about the afs. Sore boobs for 3 days now which is unusual for me and getting random waves of nausea. Also generally feeling a bit odd. Af not due til end of next week and we only dtd once around the right time this month. Trying not to get my hopes up but will feel better once I know one way or another.

MarvellousMabel · 19/03/2014 21:28

Oh wow. Sorry - was so sure it was a bfp

bonzo77 · 19/03/2014 13:14

Well AF showed. We are both fed up of trying. DH says if we're having another he'd really like to get on with it, as he's 40 and wants to feel like there is an end in sight regarding little children, nappies, disturbed sleep (little does he know how teenagers will disturb our sleep with their staying out late, etc...). Anyway, I'm 36, no contraception really since having DS who is 15 months, and definitely been trying at least 6 months, but I think actually more like 8. So I have a doctors appointment in a couple of weeks. We've agreed that we'll exhaust the NHS options, but not go private, or do anything that increases our risk of twins. I reckon I have a blockage.....

Just seen the other thread. I think yes, there is a clear line x

bonzo77 · 15/03/2014 14:54

right ladies. look at this. Please!

bonzo77 · 12/03/2014 19:27

tranqulity I think you're doing the right thing, not that you need the approval off a random off the internet!

Welcome marvelous. I also struggle with the chaos and the noise, well, more the noise really. If we have another boy it's going to get a whole lot louder! We are still deep in nappies and stairgates due to DS2, bottles less so, as we're past sterilising. Maybe the father of your DC's is no longer your DP for a reason, maybe a baby with your current DP will be a whole other ball game...in a good way. It's not an easy decision, I think be guided by the way you felt after the CP.

Here, no news really. 8 DPO, AF could come any time from friday, though I'm hoping that the B6 will put it back a bit, what with needing a longer LP etc. We DTD at all the right times this month, and replaced our usual lube (sorry TMI) with something called Balance Active which DH got, it's meant to support the swimmers better than normal lube.

MarvellousMabel · 10/03/2014 18:20

I'm 35 and with 45yo DP. I have a 6 & 4yo from previous relationship.

When we got together I didn't think we'd have more children. DP was fine with that, then as time went on we got broody. Chemical pregnancy about 6 months ago shook us up a bit.

About to start TTC again but I'm really wobbly for the following reasons:

My 2 are hard work. They have no SEN and are with their Dad a fair bit but they drive me nuts and I struggle with the chaos and noise.

We'd likely have to change cars

We're done with nappies/bottles and stairgates

Finances are good and getting better. My heart sinks at childcare costs again.

I love spending time with DP on our own as a couple....

God I really need to think about this.

It's just that he deserves his chance to be a father. He's an excellent step-dad to my 2.

MarvellousMabel · 09/03/2014 22:58

I've read the whole thread and will post my bit tomorrow - just wondered if anyone had news?

Tranquilitybaby · 07/03/2014 16:49

Bonzo77, after a good chat with my lovely gp yesterday, he had reassured me that even if I do carry the gene it's def not irresponsible to TTC no. 3. Due to my mums previous health history, the likelihood is her condition has been caused by other illnesses and less likely the gene. Sorry your family has gone through similar worries.

So I think we're going to go for it. The testing sounds very in depth and stressful and I don't think I can live my life like that.

My lmp was 20/2 and my cycle is around 26-28 days, are we too late to try this month? I had a lot of cm around CD10.

bonzo77 · 05/03/2014 15:48

tranquility that must be very hard. Have you had genetic counselling? If you have it will you get your DCs tested? My FIL is a BRCA2 carrier. DH and I decided not to get DH tested before ttc ds1. DH's brother did test as was negative. DH's sister has had cancer (aged 30), has not tested but has regular scans etc. One of DH's cousins is a BRCA1 carrier (inherited from his mother who is related to DH by marriage, not blood). He and his DW had IVF to select embryos who were non carriers. It has not been straightforward. And not something we wanted to do, hence not testing.

Good luck to those trying this month though, really hope it's your month x

Tranquilitybaby · 03/03/2014 16:39

Feeling so sad today, we were supposed to start TTC this week but I've now got to have tests to see if I'm carrying a faulty gene for a heart problem my mums just been diagnosed with. :(

I've got lots of EWCM too, feel so so gutted. :0(

bonzo77 · 03/03/2014 14:18

3isourmagicnumber great user name (though I read it at first as 3-sour-cucumber! Sorry for your CP. Out of interest, when does a CP actually become an early mc? Ive had a mc, late enough to be definitely that, and somehow feel that the term CP belittles what you must have gone through. Good luck for your onward journey....

cake i'm feeling a bit crappy about the whole thing too. I'm on CD 17 and due to ovulate on Wednesday . DH is being a twat generally, not just over this. I did an OPK yesterday, or maybe it was Saturday, it was negative, as I expected but I'd had some ovulation pains and cramps so thought it was worth checking. He noticed it, asked what it meant, I said probably best to dtd anyway every other day until I get a +ve, or EWCM or whatever. All fine. So last night would have been one of those nights, but he acted all surprised because he "thought that the stick meant..." well, meant what exactly? What did he think? Basically he just doesn't listen, or hear, or remember, or whatever. God he really pissed me off, I know he doesn't want another as much as I do, but he does want one, and wants one sooner rather than later if possible. But he is just so unengaged with everything. We need to go out to get DS1 his birthday present, and he wants to come with, but doesn't get it that that means doing it after he gets home from work, which is 8pm. So requires a babysitter. And the only babysitter we have is his sister, which is fine, but he needs to bloody call her as she has her own life and might need some notice. and if we don't do it together I'm going to have to go by myself anyway, and take DS2 with me, who will whinge, and then I'll end up rushing. I actually had an opportunity to do it yesterday by myself with no children with me, which would have been ideal if his sister had told us she was not available. but he would neither phone her, not agree to me going there and then when I had an opportunity. I know I'm going to end up having to go by myself one evening after he gets in from work, or with DS2 whinging. We had a massive row over his complete inability to engage, or listen or whatever. Jeez. liten to me ranting. this should be in relationships, or AIBU, or something! Actually, I posted on another thread where someone had noticed that they get PMS type symptoms around when they ovulate... well, that's probably what's going on here. I can tolerate him being a prat the rest of the month, but just at the point where we need to get on this happens. Oh.. I might just get a puppy instead.

Hi all, nothing to report here - I am on Day 15 here, but don't seem to have had a positive opk yet, but we are dtd. I have to say that with every month that goes by we are getting more unenthusiastic about continuing. It is really hard feeling the pressure to have sex lots every month - not that we don't have sex normally, but we do it in our own time, maybe twice a week, and trying to juggle busy work/kids/people staying/DH travelling with the need to DTD every month is a bit draining. Which always makes us think that if having sex is chore then how on earth would we cope with another DC!!!!

I don't know, I guess we'll keep going for a bit longer, but we have such a full life with the other 2, who are just so lovely and getting to an age where life is so much easier, that I'm certainly not going to continue TTC after I hit 39 in June. That's my cut off point.

Welcome 3, good luck to you this month, sorry to hear your story.

3isourmagicnumber · 02/03/2014 20:31

Hi just saw your thread and hope it's ok to join. We r ttc #3. We have 2ds aged 5 and 2. It's been a funny old journey to reach this decision ha. We were complete with our family until sept we had an unplanned pregnancy which we very quickly got our heads round and were very happy. 5 days later I had a cp. it changed everything and I became desperate for #3. So that's where we r at the min. On cycle 1. Bfp due 9th march. I haven't read many of the post before me so hope I'm ok joining u and look forward to hearing your success stories xx

bonzo77 · 02/03/2014 20:10

hi TTC # 3'ers.... any one with anything interesting to tell me?!

OP posts:
bonzo77 · 18/02/2014 13:59

if the LP is too short you get your period too soon after ovulation, if this happens before a fertilised egg can implant, you don't get pregnant (or you might get a chemical pregnancy if it starts to implant). It's often caused by low progesterone, and one of the treatments is progesterone cream. I'm sure the B6 helped after my mc, and some websites suggest vit C and omega 3 too, which are harmless enough. DH is a pharmacist and has offered to "acquire" me some progesterone cream Shock, but I'd rather see the Dr. A friend had this and got pg very quickly after starting the cream. Ironically, she saw a private specialist who was also an obs/gynae consultant where I had my babies. I'd actually made an appointment to see her privately and go my BFP with DS2 soon after making the phone call!

Boo, Bonzo. Well, AF didn't actually get going until yesterday, so day 32 in the end (think I miscalculated a day). Which I suppose makes sense as I didn't ovulate until 17/18 this month. I don't know much about the LP tbh, it's not something I have looked into much. Why does it matter if it is short?

bonzo77 · 15/02/2014 18:19

Well, 2 things to add. 1. AF arrived. 2. Actually, I think my LP is short. On FF it seems to range from 9 to 12 days, with the average at 11. There you go. I'm a dick as this is what was happening after my miscarriage. I know less than 10 is really not long enough, and some sources say less than 12. Off to start on the vitamin b6 and the vit c. And omega 3. If these make no difference and I get 2 more charts showing less than 12 days I'm really going to think about going to the dr much sooner than I said before.

OP posts:
bonzo77 · 15/02/2014 13:49

Doh. I realise you're CD31 now.

OP posts:
bonzo77 · 15/02/2014 13:49

Snap!!! CD29 here too. Sorry that AF has got you.

No sign of AF. FF says I can test from tomorrow, but the bitch AF could easily not show till Thursday. So...no point really testing or getting hopeful. I ovulated on CD18, I'm pretty sure that my LP won't go over 14 days, so if AF doesn't come by the end of Tuesday (CD32), I guess I would actually be late then. I'm not sure I get that much in the way of PMS, and I've got a cold which blurs things a bit, so not playing guessing games this month.

OP posts:
Cakecrumbsinmybra · 15/02/2014 13:41

Thanks. AF just starting here Sad
What about you?

bonzo77 · 13/02/2014 18:31

CD1 is the first day of red flow. So if you come on during the night you count from the following morning. Ditto re spotting, don't start CD1 till it's red.
