TTC no 3? Anyone just started / about to start / about to start thinking about it?

I am absolutely not going to go nuts about it this time like I did for no 2. Because my kids have each other and won't be alone looking after their ancient parents in years to come. But a 3rd would be a bonus. And part of me doesn't care either way, and another part cannot wait for a lovely little snuggly new born. And part of me is enjoying getting my nights back, and my body, and is worried about the money, the lack of bedrooms, the need for a bigger car, having another miscarriage, or high risk pregnancy, a 3rd CS, a baby in intensive care. But then 5 months of no contraception and nothings happening..... The baby is 11 months, and we said we'd start putting more effort in once he is 1....

Anyone in the same boat? Want to hang out and worry / pretend not to worry?

Hi all,

Watching with interest. 36yo 1dd 1ds cycle 1. Thinking of abstaining this month so we avoid an August baby although think we'd be very lucky to get preg first month!

bonzo77 · 08/12/2013 19:55

Welcome sea.

orange you know you won't get a BFP unless it's FMU... Test in the morning? Wink

Welcome sea.

Hi. Yes me i have two daughters (school) and have recently married again. So TTC 3 starts jan (well, unless we get v festive)

bonzo77 · 07/12/2013 21:46

cake I do sometimes think a baby is less effort than the sex.

DS2 was 1 yesterday. Somehow the first birthdays feel like they are a more important anniversary for me, than anything to do with the baby. A year ago I was hobbling between my hospital bed and NICU, trying to express colostrum every 3 hours. The DS2 had been off CPAP for less than 24 hours and he was just starting to be fed via his naso-gastric tube (having been on a glucose drip). The nurses all saying what a big strong boy he was (compared to the teeny tiny "proper" prem babies). He progressed quicker than expected, and coped with every challenge. He pulled out his drip before they intended to remove the glucose therapy and coped with taking all his milk via the tube and bottle, then when he had a problem with his tube he managed to take all his milk from the bottle immediately instead.

I digress. Kind of. Because there's a reasonable chance I suppose that we'll go through all of this again if we have another one.

Sorry to hear that orange. We only managed it 3 times during this fertile period so I'm not that hopeful either. And part of me thinks if we can't fit in sex then we really can't fit in another child!

OrangeFizz99 · 07/12/2013 00:34

Oo very interesting symptom spot bonzo! Haven't heard of that one before.

Think I'm out this month, tested this am on a fr and got bfn. Was quite hopeful as very sore boobs but hey ho. Want af to come now so that next fertile window might be just BEFORE pils visit. Not keen on the syringe idea myself!

bonzo77 · 06/12/2013 14:51

Obviously I'm not symptom spotting. But I have a terrible cough. Just like the one I had while pregnant last. Which turned out to be pregnancy- induced asthma. Just sayin'. Grin

bunny. Yes. action completed. He's at the football now, but is going to get jumped when he gets in, any minute now.... All my ovulation discomforts have gone (pains, bloating, low cervix), so need to get one more last go in during eggie's 24 hour life span.. Oh that's him at the door. byeeeee

OP posts:
BunnyBaby · 04/12/2013 20:28

Bonzo - trying not to spot here too, but can't help it.. thinking is that more discharge, does my womb feel full.. etc.. etc.. It's almost like the wait for Christmas as a child but every fecking month.. Aaargh! It looked good for yesterday, hope you managed to action as appropriate?

Crumbs - My DH pretending it hard to perform but loving it really! TBH he doesn't get too many chances aside from baby making, and we both agreed going forwards we really need to introduce date night. I wouldn't be averse to calpol syringe if we were in dire straits (staying away / house guests) haven't mentioned, yet, giggling at the thought,, his face would be a picture! In our family too I have a cousin who married at 40 and had DC at 41, 43 and 45, so agree that perfectly doable :-)

Nordic / Orange - the suspense, fingers crossed that the magic lines appear for you :-)

My AF is due on the 13th so a while to go yet for me, and I try not to test until I'm 3 days late, but due to go to DH's christmas party that night, so may have my arm twisted then. Usually I spot the day before, so should have a good idea by the 12th..

OrangeFizz99 · 04/12/2013 17:13

Im due on Monday so trying to hold out till Friday/Saturday for testing. Im really bad for early testing. Got a line with dd2 on a first response at 10dpo so I know it is possible!

My boobs are tingly and painful but properly are normally anyway but I just never notice!

Nordicmom · 04/12/2013 13:46

The waiting is killing me ,can test from sun earliest . Don't know the length of my cycle Atm though it seems to vary ... I think I'm even more anxious with my history of conceiving easily but loosing it and it's been 4 y ...on top of it have a horrible cold so just lieying in bed feeling miserable while thankfully the little one is at nursery today so I can actually look after myself ! Anyone testing soon ? Good luck

Cakecrumbsinmybra · 03/12/2013 19:59

Oh yes, I found at last week a 43 year old friend is more than 20 weeks pg with no.3! She had a mmc three years ago so kept this one very quiet (I thought they had given up tbh). Hurrah for her and gives me some hope!

Cakecrumbsinmybra · 03/12/2013 19:57

Yes, it was the Calpol syringe that I mentioned to DH this morning!! Perfect for it I would have thought... I'm not sure DH would actually go for it though - I think he only agreed to No. 3 so that we would have more sex.

Good luck bonzo! Tbh, we are being very relaxed about it this month. I know beggars can't be choosers, but an August baby next year would not be our ideal for several reasons. But we will attempt tonight, Thurs am, and maybe again if MIL goes out and conditions are right!!

bonzo77 · 03/12/2013 19:50

bunny pleased to have entertained you!

Yeah. We did the syringe thing. DH had a short spell of performance anxiety. Used one of DS1's nurofen syringes (naturally it went through the dishwasher afterwards). I'm not sure if it resulted in a pregnancy or not, it was while we were trying for the pg that ended in a mmc. But cannot rember if it was the cycle I got pg or not.

Symptom spotting. Dangerous sport. Particularly when lots of early pg symptoms are the result of progesterone. Which dominates the post ovulation part of the cycle anyway.

I reckon that those temps are illness not ovulation. When we dtd last night I could really feel my cervix, things were very wet, and today I've been quite bloated, with more generalised ovulation pains. So I reckon all that and the nearly positive OPK means today is the day!

Bonzo & Cake, you make me laugh, serious desk based tea spluttering moment here. I haven't done the syringe thing, but ditto for the ease of it.. Hmm

Cakecrumbsinmybra · 03/12/2013 16:44

I think this is cycle 5 for me now...

Has anyone actually done the syringe thing??? I joked about it this morning as I'm not well and couldn't face sex, and we laughed about oh but how much easier it would be than all the bonking, esp when MIL here

oo cake I worked out the other day that if this month isn't the one next month's crucial days will be during a pil visit! Slightly daunting organisation wise I agree!

I used fertility friend with dd2 so went back today on there looking up my symptoms from the cycle she was conceived. Have convinced myself I have them all now of course. We also managed better this cycle (although first official cycle of trying we didn't manage it at all so the bar is low..) doing it on cd9, cd13 and cd14.

It's nice to know there are so many of us ttc3-ers out there!

bonzo77 · 02/12/2013 16:30

bunny it gets more confusing yet.... because I've not yet had a +ve on an OPK this month, and they are the cheap ones, and I've got 100's which go out of date soon, I used one today, and the line, though not dark enough to be a positive, is there. Now, IME after ovulation the line goes away pretty fast. So maybe I'm yet to ovulate, and my slightly higher temp is more related to my cold. I think we have a reasonable sex life considering we have a nearly-one year old. Normally manage 4 or 5 times between the end of one period and the start of the next, but I think we need really to double that to stand a chance of getting pregnant. Unless we are unusually lucky. It all seems like a lot of effort (though clearly less effort than having 3 children)!

cakecrumbs I know the not-wanting-to-DTD-while-guests-are-in-the-house thing. Why not try to get a shag in the night before, and again early am on the 16th. You could always persuade DH to come in a cup and use a syringe to put the, ahem, emission where it needs to go. Not sure that really works, but at least you'd feel like you were doing something.

OP posts:
Cakecrumbsinmybra · 02/12/2013 14:27

Well, lots more of us now.

Its CD13 for me today, so shagging has commenced. MIL arrives on CD16, which tends to be the day I OV - argh! Can't bear doing it when anyone is staying in the house, esp not my MIL!! However, she's not arriving til late in the day, so perhaps we can set the alarm early and do it in the morning. Will be really relaxing with DS2 potentially waking up and shouting for me at the top of his voice. And I want another one????

BunnyBaby · 02/12/2013 12:11

How exciting, several of us in 2WW!

Bongo - It can be confusting can't it? We DTD on Friday, so I thought I was in 2WW.. then got EWCM yesterday, so cue an extra DTD, so we've managed to DTD x4 this month at 8, 10, 12 & 14, which is better than the 1x for the past 4 months. I think we're on the right track now ;-) 11 days to go until AF due...

Nordic - I had no symptoms at all last month, but my eczema healed on my wrist just before AF and is now back again Hmm.

Msastria - It's funny how quickly we can flip from the 'no baby' mode to a charting / google expert in days (hours).

Orange - 7 days to go, fingers crossed!

OrangeFizz99 · 02/12/2013 07:37

I'm on the 2ww cycle 2 of trying properly.

Am 33 with dc3.5 and 21 months. Will update stats later when on PC!

Fingers crossed for all - I'm 7dpo today.

Msastria1 · 02/12/2013 04:46

After 28 years of actively trying not to get pregnant and ~17 on subcutaneous implant (I was in the human trials!) I have become a flipping cliche, trying to get preggers before its too late (now 43). Removed implant 6 weeks ago, using clearblue fertility monitor, using a charting app and now beginning to take basal temps. I feel like I've lost my mind as evidenced by my joining this support group. Not sure which is more frightening, getting pregnant or not being able to.

Nordicmom · 01/12/2013 22:39

I've just started the dreaded 2 w wait too and am already obsessing about early signs since I've always known whithin days from ovulating . It's always my breasts first and normally nausea but this time is different since it's the first try after getting sick and I feel nauseous on regular bases anyway when I get tired for instance . I swear I already feel my breast aching but am probably imagining . DH is requesting I don't go all crazy while waiting but I don't think it's possible . Will try to distract myself which is definitely easier with 2 kids already thankfully. Good luck to us all :)!
