Part 2 this way!

We had 6 BFPs in just over a month on the first thread, so here's hoping the luck continues.

Oh Lucy it's totally fine to feel like that from time to time. When I was TTC DD I wanted nothing to do with pregnant women. I used to pretend everything was fine then find the nearest toilet and treat myself to a good cry. Chalk it down to a bad day and hope for a better one tomorrow. Be kind to yourself.

Really hoping you get your BFP this cycle xx

donnas1984 · 09/12/2013 16:19

lucy big hugs to you sorry you are feeling down I hope you get a bfp soon xxThanks

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 09/12/2013 16:15

A midday bfn doesn't count swede Grin I make you two days behind me and two days ago I would have got a BFN so the earliest you could test would be tomorrow morning, but if you are less weak than hungry and I you should wait until Wed/Thurs.

Good luck Thanks

Lucy - I'm sorry you're feeling down. I haven't struggled with that so much this time as I have DS, but after my mc when I was really desperate I could barely look at pregnant people / newborns. It literally broke my heart. It's fine to be jealous though, allow yourself that emotion and have a glass of wine or some choccies as a treat x

HungryHorace · 09/12/2013 16:02

Ooh. That's very promising, Swede. :-)

Should start a sweepstake as to whether you last til Weds before POAS. I wouldn't, but it's not me we are discussing!

SwedeAway · 09/12/2013 15:35

Ok I have this dull pain in the uterus area it goes all around to my back and up my ovaries and its quite intense. I assume it would be like if AF is about to start but the thing is I never have AF pain at all and I am only expecting AF to arrive on Fri at the earliest. I am so confused Sad Going insane!

HungryHorace · 09/12/2013 15:00

Oh Lucy :-(

It'll happen for you soon. And I know you'd rather a BFP than a boozy Christmas, but you may get the best of both worlds with a BFP in Jan. Really hope you do. Xx

OP posts:
Lucyjojo · 09/12/2013 14:47

Ah sorry Swede, but yes it probably is too early!! We are weak aren't we! We obsess over when is the right time to POAS,do it anyway then end up annoyed and disappointed! But then there is always that small glimmer of hope that it's not too early and it will show two lines...as Hungry and ATruth luckily found out!
I felt quite sad today. I almost had to walk out of playgroup with DD as there were 5 bumps there, and two ladies walked in with newborns, their DC1 younger than my DD will be if I ever do get pg again. I was trying so hard to blink back the tears, I don't know what came over me, I have been ok so far this month, enjoying some Wine and looking forward to christmas.
How is everyone else anyway? Kt how are you holding up? What has happened to utopian? How is your Dsis toothpaste?

HungryHorace · 09/12/2013 14:06

We're ALL weak :-) FMU next time please!

Windywinston · 09/12/2013 13:40

Ha ha, you sound like me. I did it 3 days in a row at work before getting a BFP at home! What are we like?

donnas1984 · 09/12/2013 11:06

Awh swede! We all do it but you are testing is too early you nutter! My af was due on the Thursday and I tested the Saturday before got a bfn then tested again on the Tuesday and it was a very very faint bfp like your eyes playing tricks faint! xx

SwedeAway · 09/12/2013 10:46

I AM WEAK! I just POAS and it was BFN. To add to the pathetic circumstances, I did it at work at midday. How stupid and pathetic am I Sad.

HungryHorace · 09/12/2013 10:31

The reason I count from the day after is that you tend to OV 24-48 hours after the positive OPK, not necessarily on the day of it. So I make you 9-10. I think it's best to err on the side of caution when counting so you don't POAS too early! So you'd be 9 DPO by my counting.

Weds is a good day to test if you want to test early. :-)

I've never waited til after AF is due (partly because I've no real idea what my cycle is as I've never had them regulate before getting pregnant!) to test. I'm daft.

Another reason to wait is so you don't pick up on a chemical pregnancy if you have one. I was glad to get past this weekend and not have AF appear!

Patience really is a virtue when TTC. If impossible.

Thanks Windy. My will power was strong but is getting weaker each day. I will try to stay strong and not POAS too early. No tests at home and will avert my eyes every time I pass a pharmacy.

Windywinston · 09/12/2013 08:22

Swede I'm afraid there's really only one way to avoid a false negative and that's by waiting until the day AF is due (14dpo). I know it's hard though.

I can't recall the exact date of my first proper line (had a couple of blink and you'll miss it lines early on) but I think it wasn't until 13dpo.

By my counting you are 10dpo. If you can I'd try to wait until Wed/Thurs. if you're able to do this you'll have more will power than me!

SwedeAway · 09/12/2013 07:10

Ok, so maybe I have it wrong as well. My pos opk was Fri 29th (when I expected to ovulate I think) and I also had the usual ov cramps. So in my calculater I stated that I had AF on 15 Nov, ovulation 14 days later on the 29th and it gives me 10 dpo today. Am I wrong? Dont want to test too early.

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 09/12/2013 07:00

Mine was exactly the same timescale as hungry but a week later. Pos opk wed, ov thurs, count from fri (except I wasn't - hungry had to tell me thst bit). Bfn the following fri (I thought 10dpo, but only 8dpo the way hungry worked it out) bfp on Sunday (10dpo)

Good luck x

SwedeAway · 09/12/2013 06:30

Hungry - There is a memorial service tomorrow at the FNB stadium in Soweto. Mandela's body will lie in state for three days from Wed in Pretoria and his funeral will be in Qunu (Cape) where he was originally from.

Ok so I think I will not POAS before Wed anyway, just to be on the safe side.

HungryHorace · 09/12/2013 06:22

Oh, Swede. You just never know.

I had positive OPK on Weds, so think OV was Thurs. I counted DPO from Friday, so using that calculation I was 10 DPO. I'd had a negative test the day before.

Unless you've saved done FMU to use it may be worth waiting til tomorrow to POAS, though my FRER gave me a result with non FMU.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

And 70 heads of state? That's quite crazy. How come they're arriving so early when the funeral isn't until the weekend?! Is the funeral in Johannesburg?

OP posts:
SwedeAway · 09/12/2013 04:48

Monster - Yes it is certainly a time of reflection. Apparently 70 heads of state are arriving in SA from today!! Not sure how the country will cope but hey ho.

No symptoms what so ever for me. Have lost faith and just waiting for Friday (and AF) to arrive.

I am slightly confused as to my dates however. According to my own charting I should be 10 dpo. However, according to a pregnancy calculator on the net I am 11 dpo. Not that a day makes a difference I guess.

Please can you who have got your BFP's on this thread confirm when you POAS's and got the BFP. I am not sure I can hold out until Fri as I am feeling so negative about it and just want it over and done with. But I want to avoid unnecessary disappointment by POAS too early.

Monstersaurus · 08/12/2013 21:39

Huge congratulations ATruth! Hope the nausea settles soon.

So much has happened on the thread since I was last able to post. It is lovely to hear about how those of you who've already had your BFPs are progressing in your pregnancies.

Swede, it must be interesting to be in South Africa at the moment. Hope events are keeping your mind off symptom spotting. I'm trying to convince myself that my sniffles are due to a cold to prevent disappointment when AF arrives next week.

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 08/12/2013 21:17

Thank you all Thanks I like the idea of at least one BFP a week until Christmas Toothpaste

Thank you for the happy dance Windy - I did one for you when you got yours. Then imagined you, me and H laughing in the sixth form toilets at school. How life changes!

I've had a ridiculously mundane day mrs (marking, planning and lots of sitting in front of telly) How was your time at the fair?

Engels - I'm really hopeful for you. You've been so patient over the last few months. You deserve some luck soon.

Lucy - It was cycle 3. I used OPKs for the first time and DTD later in the month than I have before (I mean, not later than ever before, but deliberately later for OVing iyswim!) We haven't told anyone yet, or discussed when we will. We might have to tell my parents soon because I feel so bloody nauseous already and they look after DS quite often so will guess anyway.

Hungry - I saw a family with a similar age gap to what you will have in Costa today. They looked deleriously happy. Big brother adored his little sister Grin

Thank you again Thanks Grin Thanks Grin

Lucyjojo · 08/12/2013 17:12

Hurray Atruth!!!! Big Congratulations to you!! So happy for you. What cycle was it for you then? What did you do differently (or the same!) this month? Do you think you will tell family before christmas? It's a good job we didn't sit on your hands to stop you from POAS, you'd still be in limbo land! They do say good things come in threes....so who is next?? Someone soon hopefully! I'm not due until 21st dec, not that I'm bothering this month so it will be a next year BFP for me. I'm still recovering today from my weekend away, had so much fun, it was so good to just enjoy myself and feel like a normal person again, not constantly obsessing over ttc.

CallingAllEngels · 08/12/2013 12:33

Congrats truth

Going to get out the opks tomorrow to start testing.
