Our brand spanking new thread full of luck, baby dust, BFPs and a few choice swear words.

The Rules...

(1) A lady may only POAS on a Friday.
(2) Friday means the day that everyone calls Friday in the time zone where you spent the night.
(3) Rule (1) does not apply to POA-OPK-S, UNLESS they are being illegitimately used as surrogate HCG detectors, in which case Rule (1) most definitely does apply
(4) Rule (1) does not apply following a BFP because if you want to waste £25 a day POADigiS that's your prerogative
(5) Rule (1) does not apply if a lady is POAS in an attempt to get a BFN to prove she can start DTD with intent
(6) Rule (1) does not apply if a lady wants for unknown reason to pee on an actual stick, like a twig or some such, if that lady is unexpectedly caught short whilst tramping in the forest looking for bears.
(7) These rules (including Rule (1)) are subject to the change at any time if the ladies of the Posifrickentivity thread decide on a whim come up with empirical evidence to prove that it is luckier to POAS on any other day of the week
(8) Violators of Rule (1) shall be subject to fish throwing.

And as a grand finale, why not pledge to NEVER POAS before 14DPO?

Sal if it helps any, a friend from work just had her first baby at 50! She assumed she was never going to have one, got pissed up for her 50th birthday and ended upduffed!

In Bristol, they say young enough to be a Clifton Yummy mummy, old enough to be a Hartcliffe Granny...

I'm nearly 42, and medics keep telling me I've got time still.

My scan went surprisingly well yesterday. I'm still in shock. No retained product from MC 2 weeks ago, nice looking ovaries I think I might be paraphrasing there and my endometrium was 7.7mm thick, which they said was average for someone mid-cycle. (Is that tmi? I don't think I know the meaning of that any more!) I was worried that my oestrogen levels were low and I wasn't producing a thick enough lining, and that I might have an ovarian cyst, so this is good news indeed!

I finally have a date with RMC consultant and the nurse I spoke to was really supportive and keen to stress that it wasn't because I got pg in first cycle post MC that I lost this one too, and said I was good to go.

Having just oved, I'm going to have a break til New Year anyway...

Sundance2007 · 20/12/2013 10:31

oh, and anyone POAS today? Good luck if you do.

Sundance2007 · 20/12/2013 10:30

Oh no Sal - really sorry to hear that. However, seeing as 2013 has turned out to be so unlucky for a lot of us, perhaps next month would be a better month to conceive, and they do say September babies are the brighest in the class! (Sadly I'm not one myself!) You still have plenty of time before you need to worry age wise. Getting pg in the first place is the most time consuming part but hopefully you won't have long to wait.

Hope the work party got better Parsley - I've become a bit of a recluse since my mc, which is probably not very healthy of me. I'm self employed and work from home so my staff party would include myself and the dog who keeps my feet warm. Might buy him a beer later if he's lucky.

Sal1977 · 20/12/2013 08:44

Thanks fedup I'll check that out!! Xx

Apparently at Kingston hospital near me sal the average age for first baby is 38. Yes, really! I've heard this from 3 different people.

I know that wont make you feel any better but hopefully provide some reassurance that you aren't running out of time. Yes, you haven't got all the time in the world as lefts face it, 26 would be much better, but I was way too immature to have a family then, but you do have time. The impatient woman's guide to getting pregnant was very reassuring about the stats to me too.... Worth a read and quite funny too!

Sal1977 · 20/12/2013 08:01

Big fat temp drop this morning. That was my last chance to have a baby before my 37th birthday. I started trying initially when I was 32. This sucks ass!!!! Feeling shit now. I wanted a big family and now I'd be grateful for just the one! I just can't see it happening and I worry that we're running out of time. Sad

Sign me up for some frolic acid!!

Seasides - I don't think it can hurt to try. I started using angus castus the month I conceived. Probably wasn't actually the reason why, but I am going to take it again after 1st AF turns up (soon please!?!!)

Work Xmas party tonight. Had to grab a couple of quiet moments alone to sort myself out, far too much jolliness to deal with and just kept thinking about how I'd planned to announce my pregnancy to my team today. It feels extremely raw today, looking forward to cuddling up to DH when I get home and forgetting all about today.

Seasides · 19/12/2013 22:40

Having said that's the only thing I'm going to do, I'm off to Holland & Barrett asap for agnus castus. Af is weird. My 'flow is not good' according to acupuncturist. And lp too short. Hate that it takes months of experimentation to try and fix these things, should have started project desperate months ago.

fedupofrainydays · 19/12/2013 16:59

Ha ha - frolic pills sound pretty good to me too!!
I take pregnacare conception too but perhaps should just up the b vits and folic acid?! Started talking iron too as can help with tiredness...

Well seaside at our best most desperate it was 8 times... But got us nowhere! That was when We were following SMEP.

tanny how did it go? Sorry didnt get to wish you luck as only just checked in but hope all ok.

I'm still going for the just relax method (wish me luck there). I should try scooping but I usually finish before DH and not sure i can be bothered to repeat after he's done!!!

sundance that woman is silly as you might do! Just speed things up if you are I guess...!

I'm going to see EPU doc on Monday... Is it wishful thinking that she will offer me some magic solution / IUI on the spot / magic me to 14 weeks pregnant?! Course not.

sillyme nothing tmi here. Have you not seen what we are talking about?!!! Sorry you think you a having a mc tho

Sundance2007 · 19/12/2013 16:38

Haha, clearly having a fat finger moment...but I prefer 'frolic', sounds so much better!

Seasides · 19/12/2013 16:31

Frolic acid Sundance? That would solve all out ttc problems! Like the sound of it ;-)

Charming woman-bet you will get pg now!

Next month/year my only change is going to be making sure I 'scoop' after DH is done.

Loved the syrInge posts, read walking to work, nearly walked into a lamp-post a couple of times! Don't think DH would go for it, but can see the appeal.

I wish there was a magic relax pill. Though fedup, was impressed to read you 'only' dtd 4 times around ov in your relaxed month, that's prob what we manage normally! How often are you doing it the other months?! we're like pandas.

Sundance2007 · 19/12/2013 15:46

Blimey...syringes at the ready then girls !! Have to say I'm not sure I could cope with the faff , my DH is already comaining that any romance has been taken out of DTD.

Officially giving myself the rest of the year off as I don't seem to have ov'd this month anyway, or I missed it. Will start a new regime as of jan 1st, which gives me time to stock up on sticks 'n' vits. I normally use the pregnacare conceive ones but may try the B complex too. Didn't know there was an extra strong frolic acid so will look out for that.

Just rearranged an appt with the EPU, can't see me until end if jan ... The lady said "just make sure you don't get pregnant before then!"....umm, thanks. Haha

HollyBen · 19/12/2013 15:03

Hi sillyme no such thing as tmi on here so ask away if we can help we will.

You might get more traffic if you start a thread on the mc board-under body and soul in topics

tannyLoo · 19/12/2013 14:17

I don't think we understand tmi around here! Welcome, and feel free to talk as much as you want.

sillymeagain · 19/12/2013 13:55

Or if you can tell me if there is a more appropriate place to post. Thanks

sillymeagain · 19/12/2013 13:54

Hello.
Would anyone mind if I asked a question about mc. I am 99% sure that is what has happened to me yesterday but don't want to upset anyone with tmi and am probably clutching at straws. Thanks

HollyBen · 19/12/2013 11:24

At work on my phone and managed to lose my massive post Envy Will do a full update tonight. Just wanted to say good luck tanny fx for you

tannyLoo · 19/12/2013 10:27

Really hard to know how to follow up that last little thread!

Definitely appreciated the giggles, though!

Fedup I started taking a whole load of supplements to help me get over last MC and also help my system produce more oestrogen, which I think I'm lacking (whole other story), but one of the results is that it has reduced my tiredness significantly.

I'm taking B complex, high strength folic acid, Vit C, Omega complex, and then I've just started taking some proper quack stuff - maca root, pomegranate extract and royal jelly, which are all meant to do something towards boosting fertility and various glands it all made sense at the time. The B complex has definitely helped boost my energy, not so I want to run a marathon, but so I can get through the day without falling asleep at my desk, and I feel a bit less like I've been run over by a bus.

I'm off for a scan this afternoon to make sure everything is clear. Not looking forward to it at all, as I think I have a cyst on my ovary from ovulating and am worrying myself into a wreck that it's a sign of something serious.

I also hate going to EPAC. It just reeks of failure to me now.

Wish me luck!

Sal1977 · 18/12/2013 22:17

Fedup - yep, I 'scoop'. ;)
Fairy - I guess it just depends what your OH finds quicker and easier. My DH can knock one out in about 3 minutes whereas on day 5 of DTD it'd take him ages I'm well bored and out of moves by then to get the deed done!!

OP posts:
Fairypants · 18/12/2013 21:45

But sal, is the syringe method any less effort than just having a quickie? I think it would be easier to get DH to dtd than to just produce the stuff to order.
Just had a fab evening at mulled wine party torn between newborn in one room and making small talk with boss who sidelined me at work due to mc. Sad I really need Wine - so glad I haven't ov'd yet.

fedupofrainydays · 18/12/2013 21:29

I just wish we could also do home freezing of sperm for times when DH is away!!

Thanks for the lesson sal
When we next get on the ttc wagon I will indeed run this by DH!

Question is, do you then 'finish' to scoop them up!?I remember you saying DH goes off to make tea after he's deposited and you sort yourself out! Does the same apply for syringe method?! Sorry if this wasn't you!

Sal1977 · 18/12/2013 21:11

Syringe lesson #1

1.Get DH to do his thing into a little pot.

  1. Using a normal syringe (10ml one I think) suck up the swimmers.
  2. GENTLY squirt swimmers into a Pre-seed syringe.
  3. Lay with your hips on a pillow, put your thumb over the end of the syringe (you'll see what happens if you don't) and insert into your vajayjay making sure you move it all around to get the goods all over your cervix.
  4. Either leave the syringe in there for a while or slowly remove it to avoid losing the good stuff!

Having read the stats, the success rate is the same as usual bonking.

The last two times I got preggers we were using this method on and off as well as DTD normally.

Any questions kids? Grin

Thanks autocorrect for making everyone think I have a Disney character fetish - that should have said 'feels LESS GLOOPY'.

Jeez!

Parsley2506 · 18/12/2013 20:50

sal I am half intrigued/half scared to know how you manage that! Haha!

fairy I used to disappear to the loo to wrestle with the preseed syringes! that lasted all of about a week before I gave up and, like fedup just blobbed it where it was needed. Actually using conceiveplus now instead, think it feels like goofy!

fedupofrainydays · 18/12/2013 20:38

syringe sal is back - hurrah!! Now I have a use for those syringes. Do you get your DH to do his thing in a pot and immediately syringe up?! I'm not sure sperm can hang around outside for long.. Or can they?!
I like the idea though when dtd feels like too much effort!!
