Our brand spanking new thread full of luck, baby dust, BFPs and a few choice swear words.

The Rules...

(1) A lady may only POAS on a Friday.
(2) Friday means the day that everyone calls Friday in the time zone where you spent the night.
(3) Rule (1) does not apply to POA-OPK-S, UNLESS they are being illegitimately used as surrogate HCG detectors, in which case Rule (1) most definitely does apply
(4) Rule (1) does not apply following a BFP because if you want to waste £25 a day POADigiS that's your prerogative
(5) Rule (1) does not apply if a lady is POAS in an attempt to get a BFN to prove she can start DTD with intent
(6) Rule (1) does not apply if a lady wants for unknown reason to pee on an actual stick, like a twig or some such, if that lady is unexpectedly caught short whilst tramping in the forest looking for bears.
(7) These rules (including Rule (1)) are subject to the change at any time if the ladies of the Posifrickentivity thread decide on a whim come up with empirical evidence to prove that it is luckier to POAS on any other day of the week
(8) Violators of Rule (1) shall be subject to fish throwing.

And as a grand finale, why not pledge to NEVER POAS before 14DPO?

Eating me up too, sorry for all the bfns.

So, I'm getting progressively more desperate in my research. Mum persuaded me to go to a herbalist, who 'can definitely help me'. Hmm. So sceptical of anyone who promises that, but I bought some tablets anyway. Now, after loads of googling, just bought maca tablets, has anyone heard of them? Bought from holland and barratt but apparently they're a fertility booster and farmers give maca to cattle to help them conceive?! I know, I'm clutching at straws. Can't hurt hopefully.

Sundance2007 · 01/11/2013 13:45

Sorry for the BFN's - it's just so shit, but statistically, we usually get at least two or three successes per thread so keep going ladies.

I've finally gone a whole 4 days without any kind of post-mc spotting , so DH an I got back to it last night, but I'm regretting it already, would prefer to get a proper af before trying again. Also booked a Dr's appt for 2 weeks time where hopefully they will do some blood tests etc, need to feel like I am being proactive.

tannyLoo72 · 01/11/2013 13:41

Hi there, can I join?

I had my 3rd consecutive mc a couple of weeks ago, and have 2 DSs already. I'm "not getting any younger" and "greedy" according to my mum, but am secretly pleased that I can still wind her up at my advanced years (41).

My mojo came back at the weekend, along with some EWCM, and I've heard fertility can be high following mc, so we've been TTC with some gusto!

I'm in the rmc thread, and have a referral for some tests to see if there are any underlying issues, but not holding out much hope, so just going for it...

All in all, it's been a bit of a year of it.

I like the rules, and it seems sensible to me to test once a week. Of course I might not be able to wait, as I think it will be 13 dpo next Friday...

Looking forward to getting to know you. I'm pretty new to mn, but loving the communities in here

YorkshireTeaDrinker · 01/11/2013 11:42

Sorry to hear about you BFN nerdy. I POAS this morning as well (12dpo, thought it was worth a shot). BFN. Now started spotting. Looks like AF is on her way and I am now having short cycles. Bugger bugger bugger. Lacking any posifrikentivity at all. My DD is 3 on Tuesday. So wanted to be able to provide a sibling by now.

Thinking it might be time to get back to the fertility unit and arrange further tests with a view to starting treatment. Can't wait another 2 years to conceive. It's eating me up. I hate TTC. I hate the sodding unfairness of it all.

NerdyBird · 01/11/2013 11:21

I POAS today, BFN as expected. I too feel like I'll never see a positive at this rate. Also next week would have been my due date so I think I've missed my chance of getting pg by then. It's my boyfriend's birthday too, so I don't feel I can mention it to him as I don't want to spoil the various celebrations we have planned. He won't have remembered.

What I hate is being so up and down about it. Yesterday I was feeling fine, now I feel rubbish. Grr.

alyant79 · 01/11/2013 08:44

ah boo fedup. I know how you feel. That's why I haven't even bothered to POAS the last few cycles - I just can't imagine ever getting another bfp. Sad

Did anyone else POAS?

daft that's interesting that you got a diagnosis for your mc. I hope that your tests all come back with good news. I just looked up edwards syndrome, and although it's so sad that you mc, in some ways it's probably better - since it sounds like your little girl wouldn't have made it far anyway which would have been even more heartwrenching for everyone.
My bleeding went on for 2 weeks. Also it took ages for me to get an bfn - keep an eye on it because if it doesn't keep getting weaker you might need to go back in to get checked out. I had to have an extra erpc, but hopefully that won't be the case with you.

welcome bella. sorry that you're here. I think it's normal to suddenly become obsessed about charting etc. I certainly did, when i'd never been before.

Bellarina80 · 01/11/2013 07:08

Hello I'm a newbie here...miscarried my first pregnancy a few weeks ago, and now TTC. MC was totally the shittest thing I've ever experienced so although I wouldn't wish it on anyone it helps to feel not alone! Got PG straight away last time without any of the charting witchcraft... Somehow totally obsessed this time...I know it's not healthy but giving me a focus. Fingers crossed and wishing luck to all you ladies xxx

fedupofrainydays · 01/11/2013 06:49

So I tested before any of you told me not too after yesterday's rule breaking episode... Suprise suprise it's a bfn :(
When will I ever just let this go and accept its bfns for the foreseeable future. Sorry. Just down on the posifrickintivity, can't imagine ever seeing the elusive bfp - and even that is only hurdle 1 :(

daftgeranium · 31/10/2013 20:09

Congratulations Kat! That's great news. what is it they say: 'hope you have a boring uneventful pregnancy' :)

Camomile - big hugs to you - sorry you are feeling rubbish. I can empathise a bit, I have struggled to get through the working day today without bursting into tears. managed well but collapsed in a heap when I got home and now in no fit state to see friends tonight, pah! just have to keep saying 'it will get better' and be gentle on yourself....

I am still bleeding after 2 weeks and 2 days miscarriage - only slightly now though. POAS yesterday and there is still hormone in my system. Feel like a freak, just want it to be over now so we can try again!. We got the results back yesterday from the analysis - it was a little girl and it was Edward's syndrome... they want to do more blood tests for both of us. I thought we'd finished with tests :(

strangely I am looking forward to AF!! is this weird?

NerdyBird · 31/10/2013 17:23

seaside I am beginning to think that too about acupuncture, but I will carry on a bit longer. I've only a limited amount of cash to spend on it so won't be able to continue next year unless my finances change!

SeasideLily · 31/10/2013 14:14

Boo for bfn fedup-I'm never strong enough to wait til Friday either! I actually did just poas, because I'm a bit concerned I'm still spotting on CD9. Af's been weird this month, getting worried about another ectopic. Was negative, but wondering if it'd take longer to show a positive of ectopic. Going to book a doc appointment to log concern and try to kick start fertility investigations, so will ask them. Don't know why I'm shelling all this money out on acupuncture when it's clearly not sorting my hormones.

fedupofrainydays · 31/10/2013 13:53

I had fish last night so tempted to get the skins out the food waste bins and slap myself round the face. It will be extra stinky too. Wink

alyant79 · 31/10/2013 13:14

fedup!!!! naughty! tsk, tsk.
(and boo for bfn. it's a shit)

good luck tomorrow nerdy and anybody else (not you fedup, you're banned Wink)

welcome back ark - and good news on probably not missing ov

NerdyBird · 31/10/2013 12:36

Hi all

camomile the really bad times will improve. It's awful when you have them but it won't always be like that.
I can sympathise with the physical aspects at the moment - last month I had thrush and cystitis at the same time, for about three weeks! And because I'm off the Pill I now have acne and the lovely excess hair. Can't wait to go back on Pill. Just need to manage to have a baby first...

Had acupuncture again last night, bit of a stronger treatment to help get things moving. We'll see if it works. But for now I am feeling a bit more relaxed. Going to the Dr and getting something lined up has really helped.

Got some nice things planned in the next few days, most of which involve nice food and drinks. Meant to be on a diet but not going to bother for a while!
I will be POAS tomorrow, just in cases.

fedupofrainydays · 31/10/2013 11:25

Fish slap please. I cracked. Bfn.
Got a cold as well so generally feeling shitty, sick and oh so fed up.

Whinge over. Not sure whether to bother testing tomorrow now although I know I won't be able to help myself

ArkadyRose · 31/10/2013 10:58

I disappear for a bit and suddenly there's a whole shiny new thread! I wish we actually got email notifications when there are posts on a thread like you do on other forums; I find it much harder to keep track of threads on here.

I thought we'd missed our chance this month, as I spent 4 days down in Sussex with friends over the point at which I normally ovulate. OH insisted on DTD yesterday morning after we got back though, and then this morning there was definite EWCM and the OPK was pretty close to positive. So it looks like we're still on for this month! So of course clueless me was out last night with my eldest two, helping my eldest daughter celebrate her 21st birthday with jugs of cocktails.... Oh well, if things go right then it'll be the last chance I get for a piss-up for a year! Grin

alyant79 · 31/10/2013 10:24

sorry cam that you had such a rubbish night. hopefully yesterday and last night wasn't quite so bad?

congrats on your bfp kat, i think you're completely expected to be a rollercoaster of emotions.

sundance i'm also sorry that you're DH is going a bit loopy. i'm sure he'll come around again.

Sundance2007 · 31/10/2013 09:58

Congratulations Kat, it's fine to panic, and I'm sure there will be lots more stress and worry to come, but you've also jumped a major hurdle in getting closer to having a baby in your arms....getting pg is quite an essential element thinking about it, and whatever stress and panic that's coming your way, will be worth it one day.

Cam, big hugs, I've had plenty of teary nights and know how physically exhausting it is just to cry for hours , let alone the emotional strain.

DH seems to be having some sort of delayed crisis, keeps talking about moving abroad for a year, or moving house, he's been really grumpy the last few days, just as I'm starting to feel normal again. Typical.

firsttimekat · 30/10/2013 22:19

Thanks, I'll check out that thread.

Sorry you are also having a rough time at the moment, hope you can get the thrush sorted soon and it helps.

CamomileHoneyVanilla · 30/10/2013 21:24

To clarify, that rant is aimed at the thread in general not just kat!

CamomileHoneyVanilla · 30/10/2013 21:22

Hey Kat

Firstly big congratulations. BFPs after mc are universally very stressful I think. You're more than welcome to hang out and vent here. Another good place is the posifrickintivity and craziness when pregnant after mc thread in the pregnancy section. Not sure what its called exactly but it'll have posifrickintivity in the title. Let us know if you can't find it and need to. How very shite of the hospital. Not what you need at all.

I'm not feeling my best. Had a really bad night last night and basically just cried until about three am. Difficult patch I guess. Also got a letter in the post of my first results from gynae - I have big time thrush apparently. It also makes reference to me complaining about excess body and facial hair. Didn't leave me feeling the sexiest I've felt - bloody bearded thrush-bucket.

Rant over.

firsttimekat · 30/10/2013 18:18

Argh, don't know where to post this so hope you don't mind if I come here to vent a bit.

So this morning was POAS time after MMC end August, and I got a positive! So I'm now terrified and feeling guilty and all sorts and just to mess up my head a little bit more I got home to find another antenatal appointment for previous pregnancy. This is the third time they've done this and a formal complaint is definitely heading their way.

I'm now sobbing on the sofa, DH is out with a friend for prearranged dinner, and I don't know what to do or think.Sad

Thanks for reading, carry on as you were.

SeasideLily · 29/10/2013 22:25

P.s. exhausting-yes. Particularly this month for some reason Sad

SeasideLily · 29/10/2013 21:44

...damn...I'm exactly the same with it always being part of the plan. Desperately hoping it won't need to become The Plan and I'm sure it won't, but it doesn't make me even slightly think anyone else is selfish for not being up for it. I don't think DH would have considered it if i hadn't said it was always in my mind.

SeasideLily · 29/10/2013 21:40

cam, you've just summed up what I meant to say on all counts but couldn't being on my phone and not as good at it!

Particularly on the adoption thing: we
