Our brand spanking new thread full of luck, baby dust, BFPs and a few choice swear words.

The Rules...

(1) A lady may only POAS on a Friday.
(2) Friday means the day that everyone calls Friday in the time zone where you spent the night.
(3) Rule (1) does not apply to POA-OPK-S, UNLESS they are being illegitimately used as surrogate HCG detectors, in which case Rule (1) most definitely does apply
(4) Rule (1) does not apply following a BFP because if you want to waste £25 a day POADigiS that's your prerogative
(5) Rule (1) does not apply if a lady is POAS in an attempt to get a BFN to prove she can start DTD with intent
(6) Rule (1) does not apply if a lady wants for unknown reason to pee on an actual stick, like a twig or some such, if that lady is unexpectedly caught short whilst tramping in the forest looking for bears.
(7) These rules (including Rule (1)) are subject to the change at any time if the ladies of the Posifrickentivity thread decide on a whim come up with empirical evidence to prove that it is luckier to POAS on any other day of the week
(8) Violators of Rule (1) shall be subject to fish throwing.

And as a grand finale, why not pledge to NEVER POAS before 14DPO?

So sweet of DP missp, sorry for temp drop :-(

Scan pics came through from my sis today on whatsapp. So relieved that all is well for her, but it's awful, I had to delete them. My phone rotates all my photos as a screensaver, and I just couldn't deal with seeing them every time I unlock it. I hate that this is tainting my sister's first pregnancy for me. I'm doing my best, but I cant help being jealous. It sucks.

Misspositivity · 21/11/2013 10:57

Sniff sniff 8dpo and my temps took a nose dive this morning. Been cramping for a couple of days. No spotting yet but have a short luteal phase of 9/10 days so pretty sure AF is on its way. Feeling really gutted this month - cant understand what is wrong DP is great and says what can we try next month???

On the plus side. I won't have a bump in my wedding dress

HollyBen · 20/11/2013 22:37

Thanks handsful results early mext week. Still no sign of AF and a week of new baby pics and pregnancy announcements.

My sods law is to apply for a new job which would be a promotion. Between being offered the job I do now and attending an assessment centre fot it I got the BFP that is DD. I am hoping it'll work again

fedupofrainydays · 20/11/2013 21:16

I had a similar thing bit from my neighbours daughter... "My mummy has a baby in her tummy, have you got one too?" Awkward.

New career TBD but I would add mgt consulting to the list of crap jobs when a parent!

Yep - everything impractical with pregnancy - heels, tight, no buttons at the boobs etc! Not a pair of leggings in sight!

Handsfullandlovingit · 20/11/2013 20:29

Aw Sal, I am in the same boat. It really sucks! My 4 year old prodded my belly today and said "Mummy, have you got a baby in there?". I held it together, but I have this recurring image in my head of my 4 and 2 year olds with their arms around the shoulders of their 2 lost siblings. Gah. I am launching myself at Weightwatchers online with renewed vigour, which is very very dull indeed when chocolate is the only thing which seems to cheer me up any...

Hollyben, I'm so pleased the GP took you seriously - when will the test results come back? Sending AF vibes your way.

fedup, yes, clothes is another great idea. Wear things that you could not possibly breast feed in without getting totally naked - dresses without buttons down the front? What will your next career be? (Do not recommend law for anyone wishing to be a mother!)

fedupofrainydays · 20/11/2013 19:18

Just wondering what's happened flower after you random one day period? Hope you are ok.

Right... I'm going to go skiing too, and change my career and buy some clothes I couldn't poss wear if up duffed or breastfeeding plus do some work to our house that would be hellish to do with a new baby around ;)

Sal1977 · 20/11/2013 08:18

My Sod's law is that I'm still a stone heavier than I was when I fell PG in January. Can I use the comfort eating excuse this many months down the line? I certainly have run out of 12 week pg 'baby weight' snort excuses...

Handsfullandlovingit · 19/11/2013 21:52

Congrats daft back to the drawing board. My af has sort of finished (day 7) but it was really really heavy, I had some leaks overnight. Still spotting now, which has never happened before.

I love the list idea. We are blessed with 2 already, so we are planning things difficult to do with a newborn/ heavily pregnant. Skiing with a two and four year old might sound impractical, but it will be easier than with a newborn added! And we are taking them biking on the Ile de Re in the summer. Hopefully I will be upduffed and all our plans will be an expensive waste of time, that's the alternative plan, anyway!

Hope you enjoyed your gin, sundance, cheers.

HollyBen · 19/11/2013 21:36

Hooray for AF daft Whoever thought I'd be jealous of AF turning up. Pass the gin sundance

Went to the GP today. She was very nice. Took some blood to check my hormone levels and thyroid. Get the results next week. Other than that I just have to wait

Sundance2007 · 19/11/2013 20:19

Congrats daft! I can't wait to be in the same position, at least you can get into some sort of pattern now. Not nice being in this position again but things can only go up right?

It's weird that there's so many if us on here actually will in for af to show up for a change!!

Just heard that my friend went for her first scan today, all fine. I'm hitting the gin.

daftgeranium · 19/11/2013 19:19

love all these ideas about the things you can't do when upduffed :)

My AF turned up yesterday with a vengeance, just under 5 weeks since the MMC started. Hurrah. I feel like I know where I am again, and now we can get to it this month ttc.....

Misspositivity · 19/11/2013 11:05

So the pre conception list begins today

1/ take day off work and have a lie in (wouldn't be able to do that with a baby - DD had lie in too
2/ randomly decided to go to town for afternoon drinks and visit Christmas market. (wouldnt be able to drink if up duffed - DD at nursery then fun at granny's)
3/ going to buy pair of skinny black jeans. (wouldn't be able to wear if up duffed.)

After a few drinks this avo will think of other things to do though as in 2ww better take it easy. I generally do drink in 2ww after consultant gave me an medical journal with a study that says no alcohol passes for for first 4 weeks. I suppose there are different views on this. Having said this I do limit myself to a few. D

Fairypants · 19/11/2013 07:21

Ouch sundance, that isn't fun!
Af turned up Sunday night Hmm the upside is that I had a normal lp rather than my pre mc 9 days. I hope it's a new pattern. The downside is, if I get a BFP this month, my edd would be 5 days after dd1s 16th bday and 7 days before next school yearConfused not ideal timing.
Love the list of things to do pre- dc. Ours are old enough to leave alone or take out to fun things so makes a big difference.
I'm also thinking, if I book tickets for a show (thinking comedy) this time next year, I wouldn't be able to go if I got pg soon as the baby would be too small to leave. Therefore it would have the same effect as getting rid of the cot- Sod's lawWink

HollyBen · 18/11/2013 15:20

What a pain sundance. Why is nothing easy. Hope the wine and chocolate helps a bit.

I wanted to avoid ov sticks etc alyant. I tried them after 6 months ttc dc#1 and never had a positiveEnvy so gave up and got a BFP the next month. Just desperate to know what is going on so worth a try.

Love the idea of a list of things to do. I have missed the boat on a pre dc list but may suggest a before next mw leave list

Sal1977 · 18/11/2013 14:50

I love the list idea, gonna suggest that to DH when I get home (currently sat in car at Taunton services shovelling a Big Mac meal into my face)!

alyant79 · 18/11/2013 14:26

hiking is deffo high on list. We have managed to do some hiking and camping with DD but they have to be more tame walks than what we would normally do.
It is more difficult to do long walks now that DD is 2 because although we have a child backpack carrier she is bloody heavy! Plus wants to walk herself too. When she was little we carted her all over the place without a problem.
So munro bagging sounds like a good plan!
What about a long distance, multi day hike like the GR20 is Corsica? That's something that's really is impossible/very difficult with a child.

I'm trying to think of other things I wish that i'd done more of pre-DD... or things that I miss... and it's all outdoorsy type activities. Oh and being able to sleep in on the weekend after a late night. Do as much of that as you can!

sundance what an absolute nightmare.

hollyben I hope the doc has some suggestions or a plan for you tomorrow. Good idea with the ov sticks. I'm currently trying to decide whether or not to order some for this cycle. i do hate peeing on them, but after last months 5-days late ov i'm nervous.

SeasideLily · 18/11/2013 13:24

Sorry Sundance, cross post. What an arse! At least they were sheepish about it, but what a waste of your time! And least favourite activity, being in a confined space with lots of pg strangers. Def deserve choc and Wine, I had cookies and fizz for dinner.

SeasideLily · 18/11/2013 13:21

Good luck at the doc's tomorrow holly, you must be going mad with that wait.

We're both really into our food aly, so I reckon we'll make a list of the restaurants we want to try and tick one off each month. Being able to afford eating out is probably something else that will go once we hit pg jackpot! Also I'd like to go to the cinema more regularly, and go away walking in the highlands, perhaps start munro bagging?! Hard to do that with a tiny baby...We've got friends in Germany we'd like to visit too. What would you do?

Sundance2007 · 18/11/2013 13:21

I cannot wait for this year to end, roll on NYE!

So just spent over an hour waiting in the hospital, right next to several ladies coming out of the ultra sound rooms flapping their little scan pics excitedly....

Only to be told when I do get in to see the doc, that they cannot do a smear test on me because it's too soon after my mc and I have to go back in January. FFS !!

To be fair the doc was really apologetic and lovely and has asked to see me herself in jan to avoid any further fuck ups. I'm not holding my breath.
On my way to supermarket to buy a lot of chocolate...and wine.

HollyBen · 18/11/2013 10:14

I have a GP apt tomorrow sundance so I will let you know what she says. I don't really hold much hope but at least I feel like I am doing something. My massive bag of ov tests arrived from Amazon on Saturday soil might start using those see if I can work out whether I am actually ovulating. In hate feeling so helpless.

I have always been a bit of a crier so no real change for me there, but more programs have been added to the banned list (as I get so upset at them). Supposed to be meeting a friend from NCTM classes today. Her DC2 is almost 3 months and I was starting to dread it. She cancelled last night so feeling relieved but also really horrible as she is lovely and I do like spending time with her and DS

alyant79 · 18/11/2013 09:45

oh god I'm a bucketfull of tears at the moment too. Managed to cry at Grand Designs of all things the other day Confused
We started our his and hers pregnacare tablets this morning, so heres hoping that they do something.

sorry for AF seaside, but at least you can enjoy some nice glasses of wine with your bf.
fairypants any news for you yet? af or bfp??

I like the idea of selling a cot to get bfp. We're planning on selling DDs cot but not for another month. Can't do it yet, but hopefully just the thought of selling it will be enough Grin

ark that is very strange about your cycles. how annoying for you. Is it worth investigating further do you think?

seaside I think the idea of making a list of things to tick off before baby comes is a wonderful one. Have you started it yet? What's on it?
I would put going to see live music quite close to the top. festivals can be fun with a kiddo, but late night gigs? not so practical.

Sundance2007 · 18/11/2013 09:40

Oh no holly, that's insane! If af still not here in a week I might visit the docs. I wondered whether digging out my old contraceptive pill and taking those for a few days might bring on af once I stop. I realise that's also probably insane but I'm running out of ideas here. The other alternative is to book a beach holiday as Sod's law that's when the old witch makes an appearance.

I'm also a pro at the spontaneous crying, though at the moment I'd say I'm more just massively jealous and slightly bitter of anyone who is pregnant.

Did anyone watch the one born every minute 'what happened next' last week? It's still on 4oD. It had that young fashion couple on there. They mentioned that they had had problems conceiving their first, and then she had 2 mc's followed by a successful pg. They made me cry but also I really admired the way they spoke about it. It gave me a bit of hope anyway.

Just waiting to go off for my colposcopy appt...I get to sit in the same waiting room as the ladies waiting for their US scans! Joy.

fedupofrainydays · 18/11/2013 07:35

I can so identify with the excessive weeping. Any mention of child protection, fostering and adoption and I'm off. Just can't believe how people can mistreat children, just can't fathom it. And that Johnsons advert too also sets me off and thank god one born every minute isn't on at the moment as think I would just dissolve if I watched that at the moment!!

Hope everyone had a good week. I think I'm about to the dreaded 2 ww.

SeasideLily · 18/11/2013 00:59

I've been feeling the same weepiness ark, it's a right pain-not normally like that either. Well up at anything involving babies just now-sodding Pampers adverts even. It's like my hormones have taken over and shut my brain off.

Sorry your cycles are all over the place, I got worried because af arrived 2 days early, so can understand your concern.

ArkadyRose · 17/11/2013 23:45

I went to visit my sister today (the one who's had 3 kids & 6 miscarriages) and we had a chat about how I just seem to be having no luck with ttc. She pointed out to me that each of her successful pregnancies was preceded by 2 miscarriages. I had no problems with my eldest two, but I did have 2 mc before I had DD3, and I've since had 2mc after having her. DS reckons that means I have a good chance of keeping the next one I conceive - which is a comforting thought, but we've been trying since Feb and thus far I don't seem to be getting as far as even getting pg again!

I've been charting my cycles on mymonthlycycles.com, and just for fun and fancy I got it to generate me a bar chart comparing follicular and luteal phase lengths for all my cycles since the last mc in Jan. They're all over the place; follicular phase length has been anywhere from 8 days to 21 (though mostly around 10), and luteal has been anywhere from 9 to 19. Something very weird going on there. Last cycle I didn't ov until CD22, whereas I'm only on CD6 today and ewcm has appeared. Hmm

Anyone got a crystal ball I can borrow to try and work out WTF is going on?? Because I'm buggered if I know! Confused

Could do without the "feeling weepy at the drop of a hat" lark as well. One of the little girls in Reception at DD3's school spotted her mum at the end of Assembly on Friday morning and got into a right state crying and begging for her, and by the time mum got to her to give her a cuddle I was practically in tears myself - and I've never been a tearful sort in the past.
