This all new to me so just looking for people I can chat with who know as much as me. I am 22 years old and me and my Husband have been thinking about having children for over a year now. I don't know any of the the abbreviations on here so I might not understand everything you are trying to say but I'm sure I will pick it up quickly. I have nieces and a nephew so know a few things about pregnancy and things but not so much on the conception considering none of them were planned.

I had my first period since my Depo in September and have just finished my 2nd. I had my last Depo Aug 2012 so its been a good few months for my body to get back to normal, after 5 years of being on contraceptives.

I know I haven't asked anything specific just thought it would be nice to speak to someone in the same boat as me. :)

hahaha... in a brilliant "i have no idea what i'm doing" moment, i went to do my ovulation test this morning and realised i'd missed a key part of the instuctions for the last 3 tests: put the stick in the digital test thing AND REMOVE THE CAP. for the last 3 days i have stuck my test in a cup with the cap still on. somehow i still got a flashing smiley on the last two days but i don't really know if i can trust it now. who knows what's going on?!
ah well. this month can go down as another practice month : )

Hibou7688 · 02/11/2013 20:02

I've been tempted to buy the clear blue ov tests (smiley face thing).. My cheapy ones never give me a positive! This month is going to be our first month trying but af should arrive some time in next week. Getting cramps now tho so may be on way sooner! Still haven't figured out when I ov. Can you ovulate while still on a period? I have a feeling I ov early.

pebble82 · 01/11/2013 10:44

I'm new to all this too. Stopped taking mini pill (cerazette) on 9th Oct. No bleeding at all so far, not even a withdrawal bleed so I don't know if this is normal. Previously I was on combined pill (microgynon) which seems to have less "horror" stories associated with it. Wish I'd stuck with that one now!

We're ttc#1. I'm so excited as like others on here it's taken me years to feel ready and now I just want to be pg. Ideally we discussed a September baby being preferred as DP was an August baby and said he felt disadvantaged at school being the youngest, particularly in sports. I'd just be happy to conceive as the wondering if everything still works is frustrating.

msbsleepyhead · 01/11/2013 09:03

Ah, that must be a different ovulation kit, I'm just using the tests rather than the machine thing. They're £28 down from £35. I've for got flashing smiley faces on there at the moment which I think is a good thing! Need to have a busy weekend... But mother in law arrives for a week on Saturday pm!

Howly - that's exactly why I want a September baby. I was one myself and I'm sure it benefited me.

SaraRB123 · 01/11/2013 07:05

Ladies cbfm are only £64 on amazon. Well I say only, but thats that cheapest I've found, I've just bought one. They are £79 in ocado on offer I think so amazon still cheaper x

wispywoo1 · 31/10/2013 21:38

My half term was last week so I'm already back in!! Hope you're all enjoying your time off.

Howly that is a bad Friday! I thought my double yr9 was bad enough! Out yr9s are exceptionally good this year though.
This will be my 1st baby. The mc was hard and I cried lots but it did get easier. I still well up if I tell anyone but I can talk about it with my DP and we are happy that we know we can conceive.

I'm a young'un of my school year and I didn't suffer. I was glad I was able to celebrate results day though.

Howly · 31/10/2013 10:29

Hi wispywoo1

So sorry to hear about your mc, can't imagine how horrible it was.

Are you ttc for your first baby?

Howly · 31/10/2013 10:25

I'm quite far from the loo, I didn't think about that! My mum didn't get morning sickness and I've got quite a strong stomach so fingers crossed I will be alright! I definately want a sept baby, I know it's being a bit unreasonable, would like to know what you think, but I'd like my baby to be an 'older in the year' child rather than the opposite! I was a late July baby and always felt much younger maturity wise than my friends, plus always the last to do everything - driving, drinking etc... (Although I was first to meet a wonderful man, get married and now have a baby!!) mind you now all my friends are edging towards 30, they will get there first! Mwahahaha!

I'm a secondary teacher and although teach fab pupils I find the job exhausting and full on all the time, constant to do list, my timetable is brutal this year (one of my Fridays I teacher year 9 for 4 lessons and then year 11!!!)

It's funny you mention holiday insomnia msbsleepyhead, I'm struggling to get to sleep at night but can't wake up in the morning, end up lying in but then can't sleep again at night, tried to get up early with hubby this morning but fell asleep again! Doh!

Anyone worried about telling employer/bosses?

msbsleepyhead · 31/10/2013 09:03

Hello wispy, I'm secondary - close to the loos but worried about how I'd cope with exhaustion given how shattered I am on a normal day! Still. Half term at the moment and struggling with holiday insomnia; I can't win : )

Just got my first flashing smiley on my clearblue home ovulation kit. Pretty surprised, I wasn't expecting that for another couple of days so wondering if it's accurate... If it is, I guess I ovulate earlier than I thought. We're supposed to be going out tonight so will have to try to squeeze something in! (Although would really like a September baby...)

wispywoo1 · 30/10/2013 20:28

Another teacher here! Smile I'm also aiming for the September/October baby. Would settle for late August though! Are you all primary or secondary? I'm secondary and not sure how I'll cope with morning sickness as my room is the furthest from the loo!

I must admit this isn't my first time ttc, I had a miscarriage about 5 weeks ago but they think it didn't develop much beyond being a fertilised egg. nothing there when scanned (had a hgc level of 9000+).

bobcatroo · 30/10/2013 20:18

Hi everyone, Im new to this aswell, I'm 28, hubby is 32 and we have been married about 2.5 yrs now. In an ideal world we would have loved to start a family shortly after the wedding but we have been saving as much as we can. We have already had to make tough decisions and I have come to realise that unfortunately I will not be able to take full maternity leave, I earn the most and the maths just didn't add up, so I'm hoping to have 3 months off and then back to work. But that's life! I am also incredibly impatient. I was on the depo injection but didn't go back when I was due in march. Since then apart from a very slight spotting at approx. 5 week intervals, I have had no periods and so things are looking bleak for us TTC just yet. For that reason I have no idea when I am ovulating so we just gonna keep trying and hope for the best. I am also glad to find this site as we haven't told anyone and to be honest I think we could end up feeling a bit alone and could do with the advice!

Hibou7688 · 30/10/2013 17:25

Broody, i'm just using the cheapy amazon opks at the mo.. Tempted to buy clearblue one but they are so expensive! Part of me says I should only cough up for it if it doesn't happen after a few months, but the obsessed part of me is already looking at them on amazon!! Will have a look at the offer that sleepyhead suggested!

Howly · 30/10/2013 16:14

Hi msbsleepyhead more teachers, yay! All In exactly the same boat work and stress wise! We've not started at all yet, I had my appendix out last week and still a bit too sore for dtd! I came off pill in January but still irregular, have been using one of these ovulation apps for a few months so just using that for the time being! The ladies in my family have all warned me previously that they caught quickly and not wanting to tempt fate we are going to wait til dec to start ( I would like a sept or oct baby) !

msbsleepyhead · 30/10/2013 10:21

hello howly and saraRb123 - I'm also a teacher trying for my first baby! came off the pill in august and AF came 21 days later. First month of TTC was tricky because husband wasn't well and I found working out the window hard (yeah, we missed it...) and AF came after 28 days in month 2, which I'm taking as a good sign and now hoping my cycle is going to stay around 28 days. Have just started using a clearblue ovulation test (on offer on ocado this month!) and hoping that will mean we won't miss it this month, but, if my ovulation app is right, my mother in law will be staying with us for the key dates! TTC isn't easy, is it?! Ideally hoping to conceive in December though so baby is due in September, so maybe I'll think of November as just practicing Wink

broodysnoopstie · 30/10/2013 10:09

Hibou which tests are you using? I'd say keep testing you might find out you ovulate later in your cycle than most

SaraRB123 · 29/10/2013 18:44

Howly, that's one word for it...exhausting!! Have no energy to dtd, but needs must Wink xx

Hibou7688 · 29/10/2013 17:33

Don't know if anyone has experience of this on is thread but i've been doing opks ti try and find when I ovulate(ish). Today i'm CD18. According to fertility friend this is my last ovulation day.. I've been doing the tests every day for the last 5 days, they all come back negative? Am I not ovulating or should I keep going incase i'm a bit later??

ReginaFelange22 · 29/10/2013 10:27

I'm not a teacher, sorry if that's been picked up differently! Everything else we are the same for though lol!! xx

Howly · 29/10/2013 10:06

SaraRB123 · 28/10/2013 21:58

Yep, you're right, deffo easier!! Hopefully when we do decide to go and marry, we will have a little page boy or flower girl!! Xx

Howly · 28/10/2013 21:52

That's the part of weddings that I didn't enjoy, the family taking over and trying to keep everyone happy. Just elope, its easier and with better weather if you go abroad!
