Day 15 and nothing still. No wonder I did't get pregnant the last few months as I thought I should (!) ovulated around this time of the month. Good job my friend gave me the 5 free tests..they run out tomorrow. I bet I buy new ones and then Monday they work and I don't need the rest of the pack..hope so anyway!

PipBeckett · 27/02/2004 21:16

Don't want to but in and you might already have heard of this one, but here goes anyway.

Three years plus with no signs of anything. Diagnosed with early menopause and tried fertility treatments until I was totally absorbed by the need to be pregnant.

In the end I gave up and my specialist said there was nothing more he could do for me. For my own sanity and my marriage I had to call it quits.

My specialists parting gift was, hey have you tried going on the pill. Follow confused look. But as it turned out I was getting a bit fed up with the useless periods that led to nothing so I started taking the pill. My GP said that it was dangerous to go for more than three months without a break so I took the pill for three months, no break and then decided to stop taking it. That very first month after my period, I got pregnant. My little miracle is three months old now. I still don't know how it happened!

hana · 27/02/2004 21:09

Oh Moomin! Even if your thyroid test comes back neg I'm sure you aren't a 'fat knacker'!!!

And how could I not have put this one first -
lots and lots more sex!

Moomin · 27/02/2004 20:59

Positive:
If AF comes on time - next Saturday - I can do the thyroid test and find out if I've got an underactive thyroid or am just a fat knacker!

ChaCha · 27/02/2004 18:37

oh, what a great idea, will make my list of positive over the weekend, here is one: Go away on weekend breaks whenever the hell i feel like it and think about me, me, me! Sleep when i want, eat when i want, shop when i want!!!!!!!
Yes!!!!! Roll on Saturday night.

ChaCha · 27/02/2004 18:34

Hi again everyone,
BFN this morning (dpo12). AF has not arrived yet. This is the worst part.
Am away for the weekend - need a damn break from work and TTC.
Am sure AF will be well and truly here on my return or during weekend.
Hugs to all of you who got the bedreaded visit!

Why is it so bloody hard!

hana · 27/02/2004 18:04

yes! Here are my positives.....

  • won't need a double buggy
  • dd will be potty trained
  • she will (hopefully) be sleeping in her room!
  • she will be at nursery a few mornings a week and maybe understand a bit better about having a little brother or sister
  • I can ride on my bike with her on the little seat for much longer and get our money's worth
  • finish those diy jobs much faster
  • enjoy being a family of 3!!!

what are your positives girls?

BigBird · 27/02/2004 14:29

chacha - did u test ?

BigBird · 27/02/2004 14:28

M2E: They might simply take bloods on day 3 and 7 days
after ovulation.

I think ideally the 'day 21' test should be 7 days before AF is expected so you could prob work that out if you had a good record of temping and you could see how long your LP usually is. Then once you ovulate you should be able to calculate what day you need to get the test. I think a day or two either way doens't matter really anyhow.

hope this helps

Mum2Ela · 27/02/2004 14:19

Bigbird - You know the blood test to show you are ov'ing, and the do the test on day 3 and 21, do you know what they do if (like me) you are irregulsr and may not ov til, say, day 38?

BigBird · 27/02/2004 14:13

kay1 - thats where you start - day 3 and 21 bloods....

Mum2Ela · 27/02/2004 14:09

Kay 1 . How long have you been ttc?

Come on girls - I know its hard, but think of the positives. Mine are:
~ by the time no. 2 comes along I won't need a double buggy.
~ DD should also (fingers crossed and a lot of hoping) be (just) out of nappies.
~ If I am only ever going to have one other ababy and thus be pregnant one other time, perhaps I shoudln't wish it away like I have been doing.
~ If I was PG now, I wouldn't be able to go out tonight and get wasted (I am having de'ja vu from last Fri).

I know, it is hard, but focus on the good.

x

hana · 27/02/2004 13:56

sorry about AF Kay - I don't know what tests you should ask for but I'm sure there are others who will.
I think what makes the whole ttc business so much harder is just not having any control over it at all. I'm a control freak ( small 'f' though!) and I hate that I have no power over ttc
ho hum, where are those positives?!

don't mean to be jokey- I know how awful it is -
love hana again

Azure · 27/02/2004 11:03

Kay1 really sorry to hear about AF Why is it so damned difficult to conceive? Will there ever be another graduate from this thread?

Kay1 · 27/02/2004 10:47

I did that yesterday - cramps last night and spotting but despite this (and blinding headache and temp dip!), went to bed thinking/hoping i would wake up this am, temps having risen, spotting stopped etc etc and planning when i would do pg test.......instead got woken up at 4am with very bad cramps and full on AF!! Why does it always start in the middle of the night?

I always feel really stupid - even sneaked a look at pg threads yesterday...am now feeling ok (ish), but wondering how much longer i can keep doing this to myself. Have GP appt in a couple of weeks time as i want to know if there's any particular reason for not conceiving but i don't want to have to wait months to get tests etc, and don't even know what to ask for apart from blood test, sperm test. Any other ideas?

BigBird · 27/02/2004 09:17

Azure and Hana - I do the same. It takes till about day 3 of AF before I give in !

Mum2Ela · 27/02/2004 09:03

Bugger, just wrote a really long message and lost it. Will have to catch up with you all later cos today I really should do some work.

Azure · 27/02/2004 08:46

Me too Hana. I was also trying to delude myself that it wasn't really AF at all, just the bleeding some people get when pregnant.

futurity · 27/02/2004 07:42

Good luck ChaCha!

Still nothing on my OPK... Day 14 ..so the waiting continues!

hana · 27/02/2004 00:02

cha cha - fingers crossed for you - you'll laugh at this (really it's true) AF started a few days ago and even 2 days into it I was trying to convince myself that it was maybe a heavier than usual implantation bleed.........
what do we do to ourselves?!
it's high time for some happy faces
lots of luck to everyone
love hana

ChaCha · 26/02/2004 23:17

Evening All...
Well i have my HPT ready for use in the morning, but am almost positive that AF is just around the corner!! Have had cramps for ten days now, it just seems so unfair..Guess she's on her way, will be spending weekend under duvet!
Two Fingers Up!

jellycat · 26/02/2004 21:46

Just did a Google search on regulation of menstrual cycle and came up with ortho tri cyclen and agnus castus and other herbal products .

The former appears to be a combined oral contraceptive but they are saying it can `regulate' the menstrual cycle, whatever that means. Is this the one?

bluestar · 26/02/2004 21:03

My doctor mentioned something to me that I could take to regulate AF which I can't remember the name of but I believe it was something given on prescription. Dr said that I would have to stop ttc for a couple of months when using it though and I didn't want to stop at that stage so declined and therefore didn't get any further info.

bunny2 · 26/02/2004 21:00

Hmm, there is another name I am thinking of, will try to find it out.

bluestar · 26/02/2004 20:47

Jellycat, think you're right about the jab. Friend used it and it really messed her system up and she wished she'd never tried. I think its fine if you no longer want children, but if it is a consideration, best not to use it, think it can take a year for 'normal' fertility to return.
