Beckif, sorry you are feeling down. I'm sure there are many people that think they are too fat, too thin, the wrong age, etc. but at the end of the day, mother nature disproves alot of theories.
I'm now on 8DPO and suffering with a bad cold but trying to hang in there and hopefully get that positive this month. Good luck to those of you that are testing now!

BeckiF · 01/03/2004 10:30

Azure - thank you. Choked me up to read that. DP and I are just SO in love that a baby would have a fantastic life. He is the best man ever. We have talked a lot about surrogacy and adoption but I have decided (for now at least) that I want to have HIS baby. He is against me TTC the IVF route at this weight as he worries about the complications you can get if you are obese and pregnant. I look at the bright side though as I have several very obese girlfriends who are beautiful and gorgeous, conceived naturally and had problem free pregnancies. One even had twins! My mum never had any trouble and there is no family history of problems, so I may just try to persuade him some more. Our IVF is just waiting for us! Could of started in December.

ChaCha · 01/03/2004 10:29

BeckyF - Totally agree with Azure here..what a lucky baby it will be indeed. Please go to your hospital appt, you may not feel like it now but if you don't go you will feel worse. We are all supporting you here, Please Go!!!

Azure · 01/03/2004 10:20

Oh BeckiF - listen to yourself. You will have a child. You have a medical condition which means it's a lot more difficult than for other people and may take a lot more time, but it will happen. What a lucky baby it will be too, to have a mum & dad who have been through what you have for him or her to be there.

Azure · 01/03/2004 10:15

PandaBear, a First Response test can sometimes show a positive a few days before AF is due - but only sometimes. If you can bear it, I would wait another day or two to see what is happening with the light bleeding. Best of luck to you and ChaCha - it's such a nerve-racking time, isn't it?

BeckiF · 01/03/2004 10:13

I've got PCOS, which is one of the reasons why I find it so hard to lose the weight and why my cycles are so long. So not only am I childless and fat, I get the glorious other side effects of PCOS such as a beard and other excess body hair.

Azure · 01/03/2004 10:07

You are certainly not a waste of space, and it sounds as if your DP is wonderfully supportive. If it were easy to lose weight, you would have done it. Is losing weight that critical? Is it a reason why your CD is so prolonged? Life's stressful enough.

BeckiF · 01/03/2004 09:55

Oh yes she's very open and informative, there is nothing I couldn't tell her, and DP is always with me. I just feel as though I've let me, DP and the docs down not even losing a pound. It's so hard as we all know and its's not as though I haven't got a good enough reason, it's just that, well it's just another thing to ge stressed about .... I know, I'm a waste of space

Azure · 01/03/2004 09:49

BeckiF - sorry you're feeling down this Monday morning. It's not suprising given what you're going through. I would encourage you to go for your hospital appointment even though you don't feel up to it - please don't feel embarrassed. Could you discuss your feelings about Metformin with your doctor? Big hugs.

BeckiF · 01/03/2004 09:29

Morning All ... woke up feeling very depressed today. Sposed to be seeing one of my docs at the hospital tomorrow just for yet another 'how-are-wegoing' appt., but I'm not going to go. She put me on the max dose of Metformin before Xmas to help me try and lose weight but I've been off it more than on and haven't lost a pound. Still no AF, neg pt on Saturday. Haven't felt THIS low for an age. I am in fact embarassed to go to the hosp if the truth be known ... Jeeeez, this is no way to start the week

ChaCha · 01/03/2004 09:29

Good Morning to you all,

Still no sign of AF although have had cramping on and off for a while now. BFN this morning too, that is CD28 (according to OPK would be DPO 15). Usually AF arrives CD24-27.
Bunny - did the clomid affect your cycle in this way (late AF etc..)
Am worried, where is AF?? Why BFN?

PandaBear · 01/03/2004 09:23

Morning all - hope you all had good weekends. After a bit of advice really... as you know I've been feeling a bit nauseaus for about 7 days now, also have had extreme tiredness and tender breasts. Now I don't know whether I'm just imaging these symptoms, because I would so love to be pg, but I've also had some light bleeding. I think what I'm asking is, should I do a HPT now? AF is not due until Wednesday at the earliest, but my head is constantly full of am I/aren't I and if I am why I am bleeding? What do you think - should I test or should I wait?

futurity · 29/02/2004 22:01

bunny2 · 29/02/2004 20:28

Morning everyone!

Well CD ?50-something? today - am losing count fast!

PipB - that is a lovely story. I conceived DD as soon as I came of the pill too. Still unsure as whether I want to go back on it to 'kickstart' ovaries, but perhaps I should try it for a month.

I think we definitely need some good news on this thread soon!

Off to take DD swimming now, so hope everyone is well and happy BD'ing!

x

bunny2 · 28/02/2004 19:47

I had to use it last night - a bit like this

OP posts:
Kay1 · 28/02/2004 19:44

That's what GP said to me last time i went to see her last Sept! - i have been doing loads of 'relaxing' but it hasn't happened yet. The other thing i think that happens when you're ttc, is that suddenly everyone you know (and loads you don't) get pg and you have to be all happy and positive when they tell you. I have perfected this sort of manic grin and 'oh, how lovely' speech that i use for just those occasions!!

bunny2 · 28/02/2004 16:58

Hi Kay, Im shirking again! Ds is 4 in May and will go to school in September. I dont want to go back to work or to study until I have another baby. It is really hard to put ttcing to one side and get on with my life. It's like everything is on hold. Last night my dear old friend suggested we relax about it and it will happen. That old chestnut! She has 3 babies in three years so obviously no idea what I am going through. If anyone else tells me to "relax and it will happen" I WILL SCREAM!!!

OP posts:
Kay1 · 28/02/2004 16:53

Hi bunny, my ds is now 5 - started school full time in jan, so it suddenly seems as if he has really grown up and i have more time on my hands. I work pt now - 3 days a week, and one think i do not want to do is to work full time! Would like to do something 'creative' - not too sure what yet...still want another baby first too, but have started thinking of alternatives in case it never happens.

bunny2 · 28/02/2004 14:26

Kay, good to hear you feeling better. I am compiling a list of things to do once my child-bearing days come to an end. I want to do a medical degree (hate blood though so dont know about that one), also want to foster children and get really fit and slim. But I do want another baby first. How old is your ds?

OP posts:
Kay1 · 28/02/2004 14:20

Hi all, feeling much better today - mainly because i've just got home from lovely walk by the sea - very sunny, even warm (sun on face - body wrapped in layers of fleece!)- and discovered tree surgeons in next doors garden removing the leylandi tree that i hate and which has cast huge shadows over my garden for years! Yippee!! I did actually jump up and down for joy until dh thought i better come indoors as i might upset neighbours

So positives.........

  • can now take 2 completed cycles of temp charts to GP for advice! (This will now be my 15th month of ttc, but only just started temping).
  • whilst ttc have been looking after myself more - eating better, vitamin supplements etc
  • have had lots of quality time with ds and he is now at school so if do get pg will also have similar with 2nd.

If don't get pg, also lots of positives..

  • can go on mega family holiday which i am semi-planning for my 40th next year
  • will have more money, time etc etc.........
  • can start doing all those things i always wanted to do but no time........think i'll stop now before i really do convince myself it's time to stop!
Azure · 28/02/2004 10:24

PipBeckett - what a great story.
My positives: much easier to have one child than two, much easier to continue working, much cheaper childcare costs and (should there never ne a #2) school fees. In fact, I don't quite know how we can afford a second child with the mortgage from hell we now have (so we could afford a big enough house to have two children - hmmm, the irony). Second the point about not going on a much-needed diet because conception is imminent.

bunny2 · 28/02/2004 10:12

Hi all, ChaCha, so sorry abou the BFN, leave it a couple of days and try again (it sounds so easy doesnt it?!). 12 DPO is still quite early.

Hana and Kay, . It's a real bugger isnt it? At least you can start counting the days till your next ov. I'm another one convincing myself af is just a heavy implantation bleed. Do it every time.

PipB, what a great story. Mum2Ela, perhaps the pill is what you need.

Positive thoughts:

  1. It is easy to get around with one kiddie in tow. We went to London for the day twice last week.

  2. No point in starting a diet when conception is imminent (I've used that one for years)

  3. A big age difference (ds is nearly 4) means lots of time to spend on new baby when ds is at school.

  4. Ds has had the benefit of my undivided attention for 4 years.

Still no positive OPK, day 11. Damn.

I went out with one of my oldest friends last night, she lives abroad and I rarely see her so I was really looking forward to it. She told me she was pg again and it just about ruined the evening for me. I even bought a packet of cigarettes and smoked 3 of them. I am really happy for her but cant believe how jealous I am. She has a dd of 2, a dd of 1 year and now she expecting her third in August. Why are some people so lucky?

OP posts:
bluestar · 28/02/2004 09:33

futurity, I was all prepared to buy at least 2 packs of OPK this month and keep going until I did get a surge and then the final 2 sticks of the first pack showed the surge. And I went to buy the 2nd pack a few days before surge but Sainsburys had none left! Perhaps the shop knew something I didn't and was willing me not to get another pack! Now on 6DPO, still got sore boobs and also a cold too which is not much fun.
