Today I'm 18 days late (51 day cycle) but no sign of a BFP. Anyone else?

So my last AF was 28th August for 3 days (they're always 3 days long). I was due 30th September but no sign of AF.

My cycles are on average 33 days long but vary between 29 and 35 days. I've been off the pill for a year. Prior to that I had been on the pill pretty solidly since I was 16. I'm now 30 years old my partner is 36 and this will be our first child.

I've had a couple of doctors appointments as I was getting concerned that a) we hadn't yet conceived and b) I had put on weight since coming off the pill and my understanding is that the opposite is normally true.

Anyway, she took blood on a very early cycle day and tested for hormone levels, rubella immunity and thyroid issues.

I went for my second appointment and was told that my thyroid is fine and I am immune to rubella. my hormone levels were 8.5 FSH and 7.5 LH. My doctor said that normally the LH level at the beginning of your cycle is slightly lower than FSH so that could be a very slight sign of PCOS but she wasn't particularly worried by the levels.

Nevertheless she referred me for an ultrasound at my local hospital and said she would look at putting me on metformin. She suggested I get my blood tested very early in my next cycle, then at 21 days, then at 28 days. I think the idea being that she wanted to see if I was ovulating.

The problem with that is that my AF hasn't showed up. So everything is on hold... Angry

So anyway, I'm now at cycle day 51 and am 18 days over my average 33 day cycle.

I'm really hoping I am pregnant, as is my other half, but don't want to get too excited.

I've done two Internet cheapies about a week ago - both negative.

Symptoms - cramping (daily), aching back, yesterday I had such a bad headache in the afternoon and then felt very very sick, weird full/bloated feeling in my tummy, skin is horrible.

If you're going through the same thing let's buddy up and share/support each other.

Also, if you've been through this I'm keen to hear what you're outcome was.

I did get my FSH and all that tested this year as I have been getting pregnant quite regularly despite being ancient, and I still have high levels of what I need (and low levels of what I need when that's relevant!), so I know it's still possible probably, I just feel this is a bit odd. I'm so late (for me) but the tests were negative.

Waitingforflo · 15/12/2013 23:00

Yes, 25 days for me, on the dot (as it were) Metalhead.

Metalhead · 15/12/2013 22:37

Are you usually very regular chellsbells and waitingforflo? If you are then I'd say one odd cycle is nothing to worry about, it could just be down to stress or something similar.

Mine have been quite irregular for over a year, though the longest cycle before this one was 43 days (CD64 today and still nothing...)

Waitingforflo · 15/12/2013 22:25

Namechanged for this as I feel a bit daft . . .

I'm really far too old to be pregnant and usually have a 25 day cycle. It's very, very regular - and I got pregnant last year (and the year before and the year before and the year before Sad ) despite being old then too. I'm now on day 45 - did some tests the week I was late, all negative. I didn't think menopause came on as suddenly as that - shouldn't I be peri- for ages if it is that?

Anyone else in same boat or will I just get my zimmer frame?

RetroHippy · 15/12/2013 22:16

CD 43 now... No bfp. But came off microgynon at the end of Sept so pretty sure it's done to that (though I don't remember this delay last time I came off it).

Shit isn't it, can't even imagine how you're coping nappy.
DH just doesn't get how big an effect it has.

chelsbells · 14/12/2013 18:40

Here to join if I may!

Ttc #1 for 14 months now, Doctors tests suggest there is no problem and so to keep trying Confused

So. Today is CD44, normally around 30day cycle, negative test yesterday, no sign of AF but feeling fed up with this waiting! (Realised I'm no where near as long as some of you!) lots of bloating in my stomach which I rarely have, so emotional, super tired and peeing loads which is uncommon for me! Seriously holding out hope for a Christmas BFP!

Any suggestions of what to do next hugely appreciated! X

gwenabee85 · 13/12/2013 20:47

glad you got to see a better doctor metalhead, it makes such a difference doesn't it?

hope AF (or BFP!) arrives soon nappy

my AF arrived on Weds so my cycle was 54 days this time, which means day 21 test on NYE (if I can get in!) and letter arrived today to ring to book hycosy 'on first day of period' :/... I'm gonna ring them on Monday and give them the long cycle sob-story and hope they can fit me in next week.

trying29 · 11/12/2013 14:50

my AF arrived yesterday so was 13 days late in the end. this month im going to properly use the ov kits to see what is going on!!
i wish i knew if that justmeant id ov'd late this month, its really tricky to tell

Metalhead · 11/12/2013 14:31

Ah yes, I thought I recognised your name from somewhere Noyoucant! Had to leave the ttc #2 thread as it was just getting too depressing seeing everyone get their BFPs...

Sorry you're still in limbo too nappy. Hope you can enjoy Xmas and New Year and forget about it all, at least for a little bit.

I just realised that if I ov'd yesterday (which I'm hoping I might have done, due to +opk and dull ache in nether regions today) I'll be due AF on Xmas eve! Which means I'll miss my chance for the FSH/LH blood test as I will be away visiting family. Plus AF will probably be shockingly painful after so long... [sigh]

nappyaddict · 11/12/2013 12:01

Sigh, CD 118 here. Have booked appointment for after the New Year.

Noyoucantwatchpeppapig · 10/12/2013 22:44

I know metal I think I followed you off the TTC second baby thread.
Not been DTD due to shift patterns and household snot. We weren't supposed to be TTC untill January we had just got a bit carried away last month.
Would like an AF now though so I know everything is working ok.

Metalhead · 10/12/2013 19:01

Sorry hibou, not the outcome you wanted but at least you can start again now . I'd love to get AF right now, and I never thought I'd say this!

Noyoucant I'm in the same boat, have given up poas for now as timings wise there is no way I could be pregnant right now. Had a positive opk yesterday though (on CD58!!) and dtd last night, so will poas again in a couple of weeks if still no AF by then. Are you still dtd just in case you haven't ov'd yet?

Noyoucantwatchpeppapig · 10/12/2013 18:48

Still no AF here at cd 47 Confused
Got another BFN on Monday too. I am going to stop POAS as I have run out and I'm convinced I'm not pg.

Hibou7688 · 10/12/2013 17:50

My af arrived! Boooo least i know where I stand now!

Metalhead · 10/12/2013 11:35

Ok, so no referral but this (young male) GP was much more helpful than the (female) one I saw a few weeks back! He's ordered a blood test to check progesterone levels, and once Af arrives I'll have to go back for FSH/LH levels and another day 21 progesterone test. He acutally seemed to care, which makes a nice change!! Will definitely try and see him in the future.

Metalhead · 10/12/2013 08:52

Morning all, any news of AF/BFP from anyone?

I'm going to see my GP later this morning as I'm now on CD59 (I think - it's hard to keep track!) and I will not be leaving his office without a referral! Will report back on the outcome later...

Hibou7688 · 09/12/2013 16:44

I'm wondering the same trying, yet another day and no af. All i want to do is poas everyday but know that's not good for my mental health!!

trying29 · 09/12/2013 11:40

im cd40 now, and have done 4 tests now but all negative. at what point should i go to the doctor?

Hibou7688 · 08/12/2013 08:32

My af is nowhere near as late as you ladies.. I'm on cd36 of what is normally a v reg 28 day cycle. I tested (with cheapies) once before i was late and again maybe 4 days ago.. Both neg. hmmmph. No af symptoms either :(

Noyoucantwatchpeppapig · 08/12/2013 08:15

Seeing GP

Stupid phone posted too early on last post

Noyoucantwatchpeppapig · 08/12/2013 08:14

Hi, can I join too? Currently on cd 45 in a cycle that usually isn't longer than 28 days. I don't really have any pregnancy symptoms and have taken 4 IC tests and a clear blue ( not digi) last test was on cd41
With my DD I tested positive 17 days ish after DTD so I have accepted that I'm not pregnant.
Debating see

gwenabee85 · 06/12/2013 22:22

Hi happy and metalhead, knew I'd seen your names before! Won't your gps refer you just on the basis that something clearly isn't right, even without the ttc issue? Can't you switch doctors? I feel almost guilty that mine was so fast in acting!

Metalhead · 02/12/2013 09:34

Hello all, think I better join this thread - today is CD 51 with no sign of AF or BFP, my longest cycle before was 43 days. I am so fed up of waiting!!

I suspect I might have endometriosis, GP said they won't refer me to a gynaecologist until we've been ttc for 18 months so I will ask for a private referral and hopefully get an appointment in the new year. (Not sure what they could do to help but I just want to be seen by a specialist!)

nappyaddict · 01/12/2013 21:46

I've had long cycles before so hadn't thought of going to GP yet. Was thinking maybe in the new year if it still hasn't appeared? One cycle was 7 months (can't remember the exact amount of days as it was a few years back before TTC) and one earlier in the year was 155 days. Then my cycles went the other way and I seemed to be having an AF less than every 2 weeks!! Then I didn't have one after 2 weeks and I thought finally my cycles were getting back to 4/5 week regularity but no, here we are 108 days later.

gwenabee85 · 28/11/2013 22:20

Thought i'd say hi on this thread too - my last cycle was 92 days, currently on cd 42, so i know the feeling! :/
Congrats nerdybird, do come and update us! :)
Make the appointment blue, if it's as bad as where i live you'll be waiting 2 months once you ring anyway :/
And nappy - have you been to the docs?
