Happy 5th Birthday to my beautiful baby girl Summer!

I love him to absolute pieces which is why it hurts so much. It's getting worse :-( he wouldn't eat his meals today because I was sat next to him, he won't play with me, read with me, sit anywhere near me, he kicked and thrashed when I tried to put his pyjamas on, I am at a total loss.

You are not! You carried him and birthed him and you love him unconditionally. He loves you that way too. It's because he knows instinctively about your love that he feels safe enough to reject you. Xx

I know he doesn't mean it, I can only assume he is so used to having dh around and me being at work, so he can take our leave me. Dh tries to encourage him to do things with me, or will leave the room to cook /wash up / go outside so that he doesn't distract him, because if dh is anywhere in sight then j is not interested in me. I feel like a spare part.

He's very small and doesn't realise what he's doing. He really doesn't mean to hurt you, but I understand that it really hurts. What does your DH think?

I'll try to get some time with him over the bank holiday weekend. Tonight was horrible, he howled for daddy. I came downstairs and cried. I think he is finally asleep now.

It must be really tough. Any chance your DH could go away for the day and you and J could just play all day?

Thank you neeko. I try to be as cheery as I can in front of him as I know, like you say, its just a phase. But I barely see him as it is so its making me feel quite upset.

Oh Moon. That is hard. I don't really have any advice other than this is a phase and this too will pass. My dd2 did this but with DH. It got better when he was off on holiday and she got to spend more time with him. Take heart. Now she adores her daddy and picks him over me for a story. Hugs for you. Try not to take it personally.

Is there anyone who can give me some advice please? What do you do with a toddler who only wants daddy? J hates me at the moment andscreams blue murder if he's left with me, then cries at bedtime when I take him up and says daddy daddy daddy the whole time. It's horrible. I work full time so dh has him all day but it's breaking my heart that he doesn't want anything to do with me. He won't even let me read a story, he'll grab the book and take it to dh and say read it. I don't know what to do or how to remedy it.

I completely agree. Just when I think we've cracked something, it changes all over again! Never a dull moment hey :-)

Ha ha Moon. If I've learned anything through my children it's that they will find some way to rock the boat whenever you are expecting plain sailing! I love the way they keep me on my toes!

I think you're right neeko. I even asked my sister to keep it in her house as I didn't want to jinx anything! And yes I am a total blubber head these days at anything!

Going through a bit of the same with j, he used to shove me out the door on work days but now won't let me go, so I understand how upsetting it is. Bedtime is the worst, I dread it every night. But I guess they grow out of these things, and by the sounds of it I have to look forward to again at some point!

I was exactly the same when I sold my travel system. Becoming a mum turns you into a sentimental wreck! I think it's partly because when you bought it is one of the points when you really believed you were going to be a mum. If I close my eyes I can still picture my dd1 in it for the first time. Despite being a good-sized baby she looked such a tiny scrap in it. Now she's all long limbed and skinny. I swear she grows every night!
We have moved into sleepover territory. It's exhausting!
Dd2 is also suffering from separation anxiety every time I leave her. I'm finding it very draining. I know it's just a phase and I'm sure it's linked to her stating school and everything changing. It's just very difficult to leave her when she's crying, even though the logical part of my brain knows she stops as soon as I'm gone.
Still, in six weeks we will be on our school summer holidays. Yippee
